  • Extract DDL from an exp dmp file

    One feature I would find handy is the ability to read an exp dmp file to extract DDL statements from it. Are there any plans to include such a tool?

    I assume you are using traditional export/import.
    So run the import with show=Y and it will write all the DDLs in the logfile.

    How we can direct exp to go directly on tsm, so that dont filled up disk....
    Any example on metalink notes will help...

    probably suggest to get with sys admins or backup team on that...usually what i have done in past is...took the dmp file on the file system and then asked the backup team or sys admin to push to it tapes (tsm)....thats the best pet...if you have disk space issue ...trying compressing your export dmp file...

    HI,
    Try this in your program. It may be useful to you.
    Declare this for printing options**
    DATA : ioptions LIKE itcpo .
    ioptions-tddest   = 'YOUR_PRINTER_NAME'.
    ioptions-tdimmed  = 'X'.
    ioptions-tdnoprev = 'X'.

    when you run the program directly it goes to the printer.

  • Read the .dmp file exported using exp

    Hi,
    Could anyone tell me what option in imp i can use to just read or check whether schema that i am expecting exists in the .dmp file (exported using exp) or not before importing into the database. Also is there any option in the imp to search for the table in the entire dump file? Please let me know.
    Thanks,
    Nagarjun.

    Hi,
    In the import command, You can give Show=y and log file option. Show =y will run the import command but will not import anything and will create a log file that will contain all the statements in the sequence which will be executed when import is done. In that import file you can look for tables and schema what ever you want.

  • How to send a text file to a printer?

    Hi, I'm in dark on how to send a text file to a printer through Java Stored Procedure.
    Here are what I tried so far (OS: win 2000, Oracle: 817 or 9i2):
    1, Enable DOS command in Java Stored Proc. and try to send PRINT command there:
    public static String Run(String Command){
    try{
    Runtime.getRuntime().exec(Command);
    System.out.println("Command: " + Command);
    return("0");
    catch (Exception e){
    System.out.println("Error running command: " + Command +
    "\n" + e.getMessage());
    return(e.getMessage());
    public static void main(String args[]){
    if (args.length == 1)
    Run("print /D:\\\\enterprise\\john " + args[0]);
    else System.out.println("Usage: java OSCommand filename");
    PL/SQL wrapper:
    CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION OSCommand_Run(p1 IN VARCHAR2) RETURN VARCHAR2 AUTHID CURRENT_USER AS LANGUAGE JAVA NAME 'OSCommand.Run(java.lang.String) return java.lang.String';
    SQL command:
    //print /D:\\machine\printer test.txt
    I loaded the Java Stored Procedure into SYSDBS account, it failed silently, even though piece of code works fine in external JVM.
    2, Use filePrinter:
    public static String print(String printString) {
    try{
    String printerUNC = "\\\\machine\\printer";
    FileWriter fw = new FileWriter(printerUNC);
    PrintWriter pw = new PrintWriter(fw);
    pw.println(printString);
    fw.close();
    return "OK";
    }catch(Exception e){
    e.printStackTrace();
    return "Exception: " + e.getMessage();
    public static void main(String[] args) {
    try{
    String printerUNC = "\\\\machine\\printer";
    String printString = "Hello World";
    FileWriter fw = new FileWriter(printerUNC);
    PrintWriter pw = new PrintWriter(fw);
    pw.println(printString);
    fw.close();
    }catch(Exception e){e.printStackTrace();}
    I loaded it into SYSDBS too, and tried with this:
    SQL> select MY_PRINT.PRINT('HELLO from Oracle') from dual;
    MY_PRINT.PRINT('HELLOFROMORACLE')
    Exception: No such file or directory
    SQL> show user
    USER is "SYS"
    It works in external JVM too.
    What's wrong with this?
    Thanks for any help in advance,
    Charles

    Avi:
    Thanks for your response!
    I put the java code in SYS, 'cause I assume that account has max privilege. If the test is successful, I will move that to some user schema and then to deal with those privilege settings... But I'm unlucky.
    I checked Ask Tom, this is what I got from http://asktom.oracle.com/pls/ask/f?p=4950:8:1619723::NO::F4950_P8_DISPLAYID,F4950_P8_CRITERIA:38012348052,%7Bprinter%7D:
    ... Print file from PL/SQL ...
    If you are using Oracle8i, release 8.1 -- much can be done with Java. java
    would be able to print directly from the server.
    Looks like using Java to print out file is better than PL/SQL. But there's no more hint there! And, no new question can be asked there today either...
    I'm wondering whether we can create a socket to a printer and send the characters there directly... Anyone has experience on this?
    Thanks for all the help in advance,
    Charles

  • How do you import data base dmp file in oracle 10g

    How do you run data base dmp file in oracle 10g

    Examples..
    Table Exports/Imports
    The TABLES parameter is used to specify the tables that are to be exported. The following is an example of the table export and import syntax:
    expdp scott/tiger@db10g tables=EMP,DEPT directory=TEST_DIR dumpfile=EMP_DEPT.dmp logfile=expdpEMP_DEPT.log
    impdp scott/tiger@db10g tables=EMP,DEPT directory=TEST_DIR dumpfile=EMP_DEPT.dmp logfile=impdpEMP_DEPT.log
    For example output files see expdpEMP_DEPT.log and impdpEMP_DEPT.log.
    The TABLE_EXISTS_ACTION=APPEND parameter allows data to be imported into existing tables.
    Schema Exports/Imports
    The OWNER parameter of exp has been replaced by the SCHEMAS parameter which is used to specify the schemas to be exported. The following is an example of the schema export and import syntax:
    expdp scott/tiger@db10g schemas=SCOTT directory=TEST_DIR dumpfile=SCOTT.dmp logfile=expdpSCOTT.log
    impdp scott/tiger@db10g schemas=SCOTT directory=TEST_DIR dumpfile=SCOTT.dmp logfile=impdpSCOTT.log
    For example output files see expdpSCOTT.log and impdpSCOTT.log.
    Database Exports/Imports
    The FULL parameter indicates that a complete database export is required. The following is an example of the full database export and import syntax:
    expdp system/password@db10g full=Y directory=TEST_DIR dumpfile=DB10G.dmp logfile=expdpDB10G.log
    impdp system/password@db10g full=Y directory=TEST_DIR dumpfile=DB10G.dmp logfile=impdpDB10G.log

  • Restore DMP file in Oracle 10G  - URGENT!

    hello, Oracle forum. I am a sql dba crossing over and need some help ASAP! Since I am new at 10G, I received some DMP files from a client and need to restore them ASAP!. Can you please provide EXACT steps on how to do this? I prefer to use the OEM gui, but need step-by-step. Await reply...Many thanks!

    Hi..
    There are few questions to be answered:--
    1. What does that dump contain. Is it a table level or a schema level or a full database dump
    2. If its a table level who is the owner of the table
    3. If its a schema level , whats the schema name.
    4. was the export taken with exp or expdp utility.
    5. Is the database in which the export dump is to be imported have that schema or is that the data has to be imported to some other schema.
    After all this information you can use imp or impdp utility it import the data in 10g database.
    For imp [http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14215/exp_imp.htm#i1023560]
    for impdp [http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14215/dp_import.htm#g1025464]

    I tried using C:\demos\TotPlan\PLN\Batch\Refresh_demo_TotPlan.bat , however I get an error when it tries to restore ORCL db using backup file -
    C:\demos\TotPlan\PLN\Backup\TotPlan.dmp . I search my drive and there is no .dmp file anywhere on the drive. Is this an issue with the Vlamis version of the drive for partners or are all EPM 11.1.1 Demo iamges missing this file? If someone has the .dmp file, please send it (zipped or non-zipped) to [email protected]

    It's not the AppleScript that's failing, but more likely the shell script.
    It's likely that AppleScript is calling the perlscript.pl file just fine, but perlscript.pl is failing because it can't find a file. That error gets passed back to AppleScript, and AppleScript reports it to you as the user.
    The reason behind the failure is almost certainly because you're relying on some element of the user's environment  that doesn't exist in the do shell script environment - most typically $PATH.
    For example, your user's $PATH may include the path to perl, but the do shell script's environment does not. If that's the case, then writing the first line of the script as:
    #! perl
    will work when called from your shell, but may fail when called from do shell script if the $PATH isn't configured.
    The solution? Look at the perlscript.pl and make sure you're using absolute paths where necessary - at the very least it'll need a full path for /usr/bin/perl, but maybe also other files referenced by the script.

  • Why Aperture doesn't send the RAW file to Photoshop

    I've seen the complaint about Aperture not passing the original RAW file to Photoshop in several places in this forum. I think I have a reason for why Aperture doesn't work this way.
    The reason has to do with the 1st law of digital RAW photography. "Never, ever, overwrite the original RAW data from a camera's RAW format file."
    Because of the above rule, both Aperture and Photoshop do not actually work on the original RAW file. They transform the RAW image data into a usable image using user specified settings (which may be the camera's default setting for that image). The original RAW file is left untouched.
    When you open a RAW file in Photoshop and try to save it, you'll be prompted for a new file name. You wouldn't want to overwrite the original RAW file by writing the edited image data back to it.
    When you edit an Aperture RAW file using Photoshop as the external editor, Aperture first creates a TIFF or PSD version image file in its library and then passes that file name to Photoshop. Photoshop opens the TIFF or PSD file and directly edits it. Since this version file is already in Aperture's library, when Photoshop is finished editing it, Aperture automatically sees the edited file because its already in the library.
    If Aperture were to send the RAW file name to Photoshop, Photoshop would open the RAW file and create a new PSD file. When it came time to save your edits, where would you save it. In order to get it back into Aperture's library, you would need some form of Photoshop to Aperture communication so that Photoshop would know where to save the edited file and Aperture would know to add it to the library. This would require collaboration between both Adobe and Apple and doesn't seem likely.
    I have a couple of ideas someone can try. These are only ideas and completely untested. I'd do it myself but I don't own Aperture (see my computer info below for the reason).
    1. Create two folders with automator actions. You export your RAW files from Aperture to a "Photoshop-IN" folder. Any new RAW image found in this folder will be automatically opened in Photoshop by the Automator action. Then you save the edited Photoshop file into a 2nd folder "Aperture-IN". Another Automator action imports this into Aperture.
    2. In iPhoto, if you try to edit a RAW image with an external editor, iPhoto creates an intermediate image file (JPEG I think) which it passes to Photoshop. But, if you drag the original RAW image thumbnail from iPhotos library window to the Photoshop icon in the dock, the original RAW image file is passed to Photoshop. You only have the problem of getting the saved Photoshop file back into iPhoto's library. Maybe this same thing would work in Aperture by dragging the Master image to the Photoshop icon in the dock.
    PowerMac G4 Dual 1.25GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.3)   FW800, 4 internal HD - 550GB

    This is all well and good. I wholeheartedly agree with the idea of keeping the "master" sacrosanct. What I object to is not being able to do the conversion in Photoshop (or elsewhere)
    What I want is for Aperture to send the raw over to photoshop when I select "open in external editor", and then follow the current workflow (I do my edits, hit save, and a second master is added to Aperture's db.)
    It's totally possible for them to do this, and it wouldn't break anything in the system, or the philosophy. Of course it's a workaround that wouldn't be necessary if Aperture's converter were up to snuff. But it isn't, and I bet it would be easier to implement the workaround than to fix the fundamental defects in the converter itself.

  • Excel 2013 (office 365) crashes every time I opened a excel file directly from Browser or zip file.

    Hi guys,
    I got a problem with my Office 365 that every time I open an office file from IE/chrome browser (i.e. click the document link and save the file to local, open it in the browser after download completed) or under a zip file, no matter it is an excel file
    or word document, the Excel/Word crashes. The Excel/Word will ask me to repair the file if I open the file again. The file will be closed automatically after the repair, when I open the file again it will told me the excel/word itself has just successfully
    registered and ask me to close and re-open the excel again in order to enable editing the file. This is extremely inconvenience, I have to open this file 4 times to edit my file.
    Could anyone here can help me to resolve the problem?
    Many thanks.

    Hi,
    According to your description, Excel seems not crash when you opened a local Excel/Word file directly. Where do you store these file? OneDrive, SharePoint or other?
    If possible, please let me see the screenshot of the error dialog.
    Moreover, please open Event Viewer to check whether there's any error about the Excel/Word crash issue.
    Press Win + R, type "eventvwr" in the blank box, press Enter. In the Event Viewer, browse to Windows Logs -> Application, there may be some errors after the crash.
    To protect your privacy, you may send the error logs to
    [email protected], we will try to find the cause.
