Hi,
Im Facing a very typical Problem
I have a table with 5 columns...
Select EMPNO,ENAME,SAL,JOB,DEPTNO from emp;
Now my package actually returns 30 records
select * from TABLE(PKG_SEARCH.DOC_PROPERTY(29)
which actually returns 7 columns with 30 records...
My requirement is -
i want the package to be sent as column to the Select EMPNO,ENAME,SAL,JOB,DEPTNO from emp;
Is there any way that we can create bind variables for this scenario?
Plz Help
Regards,
~ Sri

i want the package to be sent as column to the Select EMPNO,ENAME,SAL,JOB,DEPTNO from emp;Why not

  • Passing parameter into select statement by using function in discoverer

    I have created two functions in database named Period_in and Period_out and a global variable  g_period_name
    I have called Period_out function in VIEW(Select statement where condition).
    I have registered Period_in function in discoverer admin then created calculation (called Period_in(:input parameter))in discoverer plus.
    My expectation is user will enter period name and that will hit Period_in function and returns 1 and stores entered period name in g_period_name at runtime. then VIEW will executed and fetches data.
    But i am getting no data found.
    Problem is 2 functions running at the same time in select statement. Please help me to overcome this. Thanks in advance
    FUNCTION period_in (p_period VARCHAR2)
          RETURN NUMBER
       AS
       BEGIN
          g_period_name := p_period;
          RETURN 1;
       END period_in;
       FUNCTION period_out
          RETURN VARCHAR2
       AS
       BEGIN
          RETURN g_period_name;
       END period_out;

    You can use this code:
    WITH cte
    AS ( SELECT EmpID ,
    EmpName ,
    [dbo].[udf_testFunction](EmpID) AS testfunctionvalue
    FROM #Temp
    SELECT EmpID ,
    EmpName ,
    testfunctionvalue ,
    testfunctionvalue * EmpID ,
    testfunctionvalue + 2
    FROM cte
    But using scalar functions in select clause can hurt the performance. Please see this link:

  • JDBC Sender MSSQL Stored Procedure - Multiple Select Statements

    Hello all,
    I will proceed to tell you my problem, for which solution I request your kind advice:
    Im working in a project for a retailer, which consists in sending the information from erp and sql server to pos thru XI interfaces.
    One of the interfaces is about sending items from sql server to a file so the pos can load it into the system. For doing so I have devloped an stored procedure which function is to return several select statements as many stores the retailer might have, so they can have a different file per store along with its corresponding items in it.
    The thing is that XI just gets the first select statement and creates the corresponding file, but it seems to ignore the remaining responses as I'm neither getting any file nor an error afterwards.
    So, my question is: is XI capable of handling multiple select responses from an Stored Procedure in graphical mapping??? Or am I just wasting my time trying?
    Thanks in advice for your help.
    Regards.

    Hello Ramkumar,
    After 5 days trying, I finally made it work out applying your advice. Below the short explanation of what I did:
    My Source structure is: Main Node->Row->Records (Material Number, StoreNum, Price, Status)
    My Target structure is: Main Node->File Node->Record Node->Records ( Material Number, Price, Status)
    The key was to make all the occurrences happen against StoreNum node. So, based on what you adviced these two where the key mappings:
    1) The Mapping that will create a new file for each different store that comes in the query (In my case, query was already sort by store using an sql "order by" function, if not you can also use xi node function "sort" as Ramkumar suggested)
    StoreNum->RemoveContext->SplitbyValue (Value Changed)->Collapse Contexts->File Node
    2) The Mapping that will create each record in its corresponding store file:
    StoreNum->RemoveContext->SplitbyValue (Value Changed)->Record Node
    And Voilá !!! It worked.
    Thanks very much Ramkumar.

  • Passing value as a parameter in select statement

    Hi,
    Very simple query, how do I pass the values that i get in the cursor to a select statement. If table1 values are 1,2,3,4 etc , each time the cursor goes through , I will get one value in the variable - Offer
    So I want to pass that value to the select statement.. how do i do it?
    the one below does not work.
    drop table L1;
    create table L1
    (col1 varchar(300) null) ;
    insert into L1 (col1)
    select filter_name from table1 ;
    SET SERVEROUTPUT ON;
    DECLARE
    offer table1.col1%TYPE;
    factor INTEGER := 0;
    CURSOR c1 IS
    SELECT col1 FROM table1;
    BEGIN
    OPEN c1; -- PL/SQL evaluates factor
    LOOP
    FETCH c1 INTO offer;
    EXIT WHEN c1%NOTFOUND;
    DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE(offer);
    select * from table1 f where f.filter_name =:offer ;
    factor := factor + 1;
    DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE(factor);
    END LOOP;
    CLOSE c1;
    END;

    Hi Greg,
    Thanks for the response, No there is no ODB.net involved here.
    If I remove the : from :offer. I get this error now.

  • Dynamic Parameter LOV Select Statement

    I have a parameter form with a value for the fiscal year and equipment ID. I want to populate the equipment ID list of values based on the fiscal year that is selected.
    My query for the equipment ID list of values would be SELECT EQPID,NAME FROM EQPLIST WHERE FY = :FY.
    When I tried to add this query to the list of values of the equipment ID parameter I get REP-0781: Bind variables are not allowed in the Select statement.
    Is there a way to dynamically generate the list of values select statement in a reports trigger?

    Hi,
    What version of Oracle Reports are you using?
    Unfortunately, it is a limitation of Oracle Reports to not restrict values based on other parameters - for sure until Reports 6i and I believe until the recent new versions.
    The other way to do what you want to do is to do it outside of Reports, if you have an Oracle Forms application. For example, you can create a simple Oracle Form that captures the Report parameters and then submits the report from the Forms. In Forms, you can implement the solution you are looking for - restricting values based on values of other parameters. In reports, you can't do that.
    If you have a few other reports that have similar requirements, then you can create a form to launch reports and submit all your reports from there after capturing all your parameters there.

  • Put prepended "WITH" into Select statement possible?

    Assume I have a SQL statement like:
    with t1 as (select ......),
    t2 as (select ......)
    Select .... From t1, t2 Where ....;
    Can I merge somehow the prepended "with" term into the actual select statement?
    As far as I remember there is an equivalent statement syntax like:
    Select .... from t1 as (select ....), t2 as (select ....) where ....;
    but this does not work.
    Peter

    It will be like
    Select ....
    From ( select .. From ...) t1
    ,( select .. From ...) t2

    Try debugging it in the same good old way.
    What you have stated seems to have no problem
    but you never know. So In the after param form see whether it is actually setting a value to your parameter.
    If that is Ok I dont think you should have problems.
    But there are two things which look odd here. since the Parameter value is not changing after the after param form why do you need it in the query?
    Second If you are trying to display the departments thier emp count and max salary I think You can use straight selects than anyhting else.
    Try doing it

    hi,
      You can first the field values using the select statement and then loop that internal table and pass the values to the function module.
    try this
    *PARAMETERS p_fictr LIKE fmfctr-fictr.
    select-options: s_fictr for fmfctr-fictr.
    START-OF-SELECTION.
    Move the select options to internal tables (import parameter for fn)
    move_sel_option : sel_buk s_bukrs ,
    sel_pern s_pernr ,
    sreinr s_reinr ,
    spdatv s_pdatv ,
    sberei s_berei .
    select fictr
       from fmfctr
       into tabel itab
    where fictr in s_fictr.
    loop at itab.
    Call the function to get all trips corresponding to sel criteria
    CALL FUNCTION 'ZHR_GET_FUND_TRIPS'

    *p_fictr = p_fictr
    p_fictr = itab-fictr

  • Putting Parameter into SQL Expression or convert to formula Basic or Crystal

    CA Forum: Formula
    Hello,In my old report I got something like thisSELECT MIN(cast("ParDyn"."ParVal" as integer))FROM "result".ParDyn WHERE "ParDyn"."ParNo" = (SELECT Max("Piece"."ParDynNo")                          FROM "result"."Piece"                           WHERE "Piece"."RequestNo" = XPARAM1 And "Piece"."PieceNo" = XPARAM2)      And "ParDyn"."ParIdent" = 'Trace.Assignment'  This report are viewed from VB component - at old VB they read SQL from report, input XPARAM1 and XPARAM2 and put it into report again and the show report.Because now I want to make my aplication I convert this report to use it not only at this old aplication, but with CR Viewer too.I see I can not insert Parameter into SQL Statement, so I need to use Basic or Crystal Formula.I try to make something like this : minimum({ParDyn.ParVal})and {ParDyn.ParNo} = 0of cource zero should be exchange with next statement, but this not working.What I would like to get is only one record, I do not want get whale table into CR engine and then evaluate becouse this report must work on slow connection, so I need take from database only records witch I need. Can someone help me, or show how to insert into formula value as parameter taked from another table dynamicly ?? Best Regards Bartłomiej Jóźwiak

    Ok,
    The only way I found to get the maximum status date of an employee with the date entered in parameter was to litteraly put each employee ID, and Status Date in the Detail section.
    Then in the select expert create the parameter date.
    Then I created a running total field that counts the employees and resets on change of employee sorted by status date.
    Then I created a formula that gets all the first occurences of this running total field and if the running total field equals 1, a new formula field shows 1 and if not (2 and more), it shows 0.
    But I can't find the way to give me the total that I need for each group sections.
    It's ok if the SQL expression field does not work, but I need to find a way to get the max date.
    Thank's for your help for the SQL Expression field.

    It depends on the reason behind you wanting to split your transaction into small chunks. Most of the time there is no good reason for that.
    If you are tying to imporve performance by doing so then you are wrong it will only degrade the performance.
    To improve the performance you can use APPEND hint in insert, you can try PARALLEL DML and If you are in 11g and above you can use [url http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/appdev.112/e25788/d_parallel_ex.htm#CHDIJACH]DBMS_PARALLEL_EXECUTE to break your insert into chunks and run it in parallel.
    So if you can tell the actual objective we could offer some help.
