Sequence app with modify rights to installation directory

Hey there
I've got an application, where the user must have Change / Modify Rights to the Installation Directory. By Default, the Installation is installed in C:\Vendor\App1. If i just install the application locally the application can be launched without any
problem.
I tried to sequence the App with App-V 5.0 SP2 HF4 with PVAD "C:\Vendor1" and i selected the Option "Allow virtual application full write permissions to the virtual file System" on the Advanced Tab of the Sequencer. If i start the application
i get an error that the database (Application is an Access addin) is only in read mode, and that the application can't get startet.
Also i'm not able to manually add or modify rights in the Installation Directory.
Have i missed something? Isn't the Option "Allow virtual application full write permissions..." for this case?
Thank you in advance!
Best regards, Simon

In the first post I read it as you captured to PVAD, and in the post above you set it to VFS.  Did you do a second capture?  If not which are the files in?
You can always run procmons, etc, to try to figure out what is going on.  The application can always be doing something 'weird', unfortunately its hard to give you a really solid solution with all the potential variables.
You could upgrade to SP3, and resequence.  Beyond that, you could try going into the VE, and writing a dummy file to that DIR, to see if you get any permissions error.  Does the program put itself into PATH or anything like that?  If there
are references to the C:\ProgramData location, its possible the program is trying to write to that folder, which is the outside folder you can't write to.

  • Will saving a sequence file with modified variables work on all licensing levels of TestStand?

I am thinking of enabling editing of test limits for a few steps via an operator interface mechanism of some sort (popup dialog box, etc.).
If I make an API call to save the sequence file with the modified limits (as opposed to using the property export/import mechanism), will the call succeed if the end-customer has only a deployment license (no debug or dev)?
For that matter, if I *were* to use the property export mechanism via an API call from the operator interface, would that call succeed regardless of the licensing level on the target machine?
    Thanks in advance...

The deployment license will not allow you to save sequence files using the API.  It will generate an error.

  • Creative Cloud - BUG Changing Installation Directory for Apps

I searched and could only find this similar post here
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/5498967#5498967
Which stated the issue I am experiencing.  In the preferences of the creative cloud desktop program I changed the installation directory to D drive because I have my main hard drive partitioned and the programs would take up too much space on C.  Regardless of the change in preferences the applications were still installing to my C drive.  I tried restarting and reinstalling and nothing seemed to work.
Finally I decided to reallocate my D partition back to C, I have yet to complete this because I am waiting for all the data on D to be transferred to an external drive so I can recombine it to C without losing data ( I don't know if this is necessary, I haven't recombined partitions in the operating system before, but just to be safe)
    ANYWAY
As I am waiting for the transfer (Over 120gbs takes a while)  I changed the installation directory in the Creative Cloud preferences back to C and went ahead and installed the program I was trying to prior to all this.  Guess What?  It installed to my D drive!!!
This isn't a serious bug for me, just incredibly annoying and causing a lot of extra work on my part just to install the program I wanted.  However for someone who requires a different directory to install to and cannot rearrange their computer to accommodate this bug I could see it being more serious.  Has anyone else had this issue and did you find a solution?  Thanks.
P.S. Adobe you rock, I hope your other CC programs don't feel rushed for release like your installer does

ADOBE WILL TRY TO DELETE YOUR LEGACY APPS!!!!  Do NOT let them! They could put you out of business! Here is a tech support transcript, see for yourselves:

Vipin: We need to remove all the Adobe apps installed on your computer.

Vipin: May I have your permission to connect to your computer remotely and try to solve the problem while you watch?
ADOBE CUSTOMER: There is no way I give permission to delete CS5 creative suite, CS6 video production suite or hurt them in any way what so ever. I have THOUSANDS of dollars of plugins and other workfow products that depend on them. Sorry but my only recourse is to
ADOBE CUSTOMER: see if you have ANY loyalty to an OVER 30 years adobe customer (me) when you demand payout for the remaining 5 months of the subscription. I'm betting you will just send the bill to collections for non payment. If so, you WILL be sued for non service and non delivery of product. And yes, I am ready to spend over xxxx on a suit vs adobe because of how you have treated me. The point is I know that I am not alone, and that's sad.
Then after TECH NO SUPPORT, CSRs try to 'handle' me:
If you do decide to cancel, we can refund your subscription.
If you stay with the service, we can provide 2 free months as an apology for the technical difficulties. We cannot provide a free year.
Please let me know which you would like to do.

ADOBE CUSTOMER:You want me to stay with a service that provides no product? And has not provided me with a usable product since October of 2014? And now the word is out that you are raising subscription prices after the first year? Who do you think you are? You HURT peoples ability to earn a living! You cost us hours and days and months trying trying to fix your problems so we can move forward with your products? Who in the hell do you think you are? Tell you what, dont cancel a thing. A media blitz and maybe a subpoena to San Jose is the right move to protect peoples rights. Your company needs to learn a lesson in how to treat legacy customers. It seems no one has taught you that "if you take care of the customer, they will take care of adobe." Britt, care to guess how many dollars I have given adobe in almost 30 years?

Adobe Creative Cloud Regarding Creative Cloud prices, it is noted on the purchasing page that some subscriptions offer "promotional rates for the first year only." Our full subscription terms can be viewed here: https://www.adobe.com/misc/subscription_terms.html

ADOBE CUSTOMER: You see, that is EXACTLY how you should take care of a customer. Tell them they are wrong and have it NOT RELATED to a simple request to FIX a company software PROBLEM. Tell your customers that after FOUR months of unusability of your product, DAYS of the customer trying to fix the company problem, that your solution is give them TWO months FREE then JACK the price up for them! You MUST have thousands of people in LINE to YOU to get this celebrated DEAL!

ADOBE CUSTOMER: I have a hunch some adobe board members are going to have fun with your conversation and offer, Britt. I would hush up now before you have to look for a different job because I know you mean well BUT you have no experience or skills solving a client's issues and in fact, you are hurting adobe's future earnings.

ADOBE CUSTOMER: The Russian cracked version of PS 2014 will have to do on another clients machine until you have a total new WORKING release. I'm tired of being your company's test pig, doing the boiler plate cleaner routines, and having the same failures. It's one thing to have broken software, but NOT acceptable to treat customers the way I have been treated, and then, be greedy on a remediation offer from you.
You say,"We value all our customers."  Again, clearly NO ONE from the BOD has taught you that if you take care of the customer, then the customer will take care of adobe.
You guys and gals have essentially asked for a fight, and a fight you shall have. good night.

How do I retain my apps after I change my apple ID? Right now I'm unable to update any of the apps with the old apple ID. I get an error message about an invalid id or Password. If I delete my appos and start over, I may lose the apps that I purchased (like the ones for $5 +....

Apps are always tied to the ID that was used to purchase them originally. Did you try entering your old password and see if that works?
If you need to sign out of your old account go to Settings>Store>Tap on your ID and sign out. Sign in with the new one.
you can also access your ID in the featured tab of the App Store. Swipe to the bottom of the screen and you will find it there as well.

    Hi, kelshalls.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I understand that your device becomes unresponsive when installing an App.  If this issue persists, try forcing all applications to close and restart the device.
Force an app to close in iOS
Restart or reset your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

My 128 Gb iPad cannot do airplay mirroring with Apple TV 3.  It only airplays with screen off (like iPad 1), and it can only do airplay with apps which have the airplay button.  No airplay button when sliding the bottom opened apps to the right!  Note : This problem persists after HDMI cable has been changed, and Apple TV was reset.  My another iPad 4 64Gb also on the same most updated ISO has no problem.

I restarted the iPad, it is okay now!  I think it is because I have been using the smart cover for too long, without shutting down the iPad completely!  It just works fine with the airplay signal appearing again after restarting the iPad.

  • Give ZEN app file system rights so can install without user login

    ZfD 6.5.2 NW 6.5.5
Is it possible to give an app rights to the file system on a Netware
box to find the msi it needs to install even if there isn't a user
    logged in to the workstation?
We have an app associated with workstations and when we tried to push
it a number of installs failed because the users were logging on
    workstation only.
This is also relevant to apps which install as "unsecure system user"
because they do not inherit the logged-in user's Netware file system
rights. In the past we've given the [public] trustee rights in order to
get round this problem but would like a better solution.

  • How to debug web app with weblogic?

I wrote a web app that includes jsp files and some javabeans, then I put the jsp files to directory
    mydomain\applications\DefaultWebApp
then I complied javabeans and put those classes to
    mydomain\applications\DefaultWebApp\WEB-INF\classes
Then I start the weblogic,it runs very well.
I modified some javabean, complie them and put classes override the old classes,
but the web app can not find the new classes.
Any one know How to debug web app(with javabeans) in weblogic?
    thanks!

how to config the hot deploy?
thxSorry, for this delay in responding. I had set notify me with email option in Watch This topic; but I never did get any email notification.
I use wls6.1; I think the process may be very similar to this in wls8.x. In wls6.1 (sp5), this is done via the -
    Dweblogic.ProductionModeEnabled=False or
    Dweblogic.ProductionModeEnabled=True
in the startup cmd/sh script. Out of the box, wls6.1 is set to Dweblogic.ProductionModeEnabled=False which automatically enables hot deploys.

This is what comes up when I am trying to install Adobe AIR on my Mac OS 10.8.5 with Cricut Craft Room in the terminal.

    Hi Chris,
I've been reading and trying everything!  Ok so this is what I had on my Mac:
    Bamboo
    Core Essentials Painter 4
    Cricut Craft room
    * will be adding Adobe Photoshop Essentials 11 next month also.
When I tried install the Cricut Sync (to sync my Gypsy to the Mac) that's when it asked for Adobe AIR installation.  I can see the AIR installer in my applications/utilities, but it will not let me run the program.

  • Air apps with outside elements

    Hello,
First of all i'm a newbie to air.
my question is : is it possible to create an desktop Air apps
with the "core components" of the apps (in my case .air file and
swf, xml) and as the full application will use flv give the
possibility to download those flv to folder (inside the
installation folder) or to use them from a server online.
The final purpose of my question is that i'd like that my
apps could look if there's updated flv available.
Hope that my question is clear enough bcause of my poor
    english ;)
    Thanks

    Hi,
AIR has APIs that let you download files from the internet
and store it on your local filesystem (though not in the
application installation directory, but a different location: the
application storage directory). You should be able to play those
    flv's from your AIR app.
Using the same API's you can also download a file that lets
your app know if there is an updated flv available.

  • Compiling own app with -X02 makes external dll core dump.

    Hello,
I have a C++ app that calls a function w/in an external shared library. The external dll does not have debug symbols and is probably optimized. When my app is compiled with -xO2 or higher, I get a core dump (no mapping at the fault address) deep within the external dll. When I am compiling my app with -xO1 or with debug info, I do not get the core dump within the external dll.
    My questions are:
    1. Does this mean that there is a bug w/in my code or within the external dll's code?
    2. If not error in either, is there any way to overcome this core dump without lowering the level of optimization (and thus slowing down the app)
Here is a stack trace I got by attaching dbx to my app:

From the symptoms you describe, it is possible that the shared library contains a bug, but it is more likely that the problem is in your code, passing bad data to the shared library.
The problem might be a compiler bug, but I think an error in your code is more likely.
For example, your code as written might have undefined behavior that works by accident when compiling without optimizing, but fails when the compiler improves the runtime code.
    Some examples:
    1. A classic MT programming error is failing to declare a variable volatile when it is shared by more than one thread. In each thread, the compiler assumes it can remember the value of the variable and not reload it between references.
    2. "x = ++x + b;" Modifying a variable twice in an expression withtout sequence points has undefined behavior -- compiler optimization can affect the result.
3." foo(x, x+=3);" the order of evaluation of function arguments is unspecified, so the actual values passed to foo could depend on optimization.
With C++ 5.5, you get some warnings from system headers that you can't do anything about, which I suspect is why you have disabled some warnings. Unfortunately, you might be disabling warnings that you need to see. That is, some of the disabled warnings could point to invalid code that results in the program crash.
I suggest using w instead of w2 (to avoid uninteresting warnings), and fix your code to eliminate the warnings you get.
In the current compiler, C++ 5.7 in Sun Studio 10, we have made some adjustments to warnings to make w and w2 more useful. You should consider upgrading. You can get a 60-day free trial version here:

  • Metadata rejected ("3.2 Apps with placeholder text will be rejected")

    Hi everybody,
I have a problem with Apple but I hope that I can find someone here who has faced the same matter and can help me!
Some weeks ago I sent my first app (the publication is a single-app catalogue) to iTunes Connect and everything was smooth (it has been accepted and placed in the App Store in 5 days).
Instead last week I sent another similar publication (a single-app catalogue created in the same way as the first one) but the app has been rejeceted for this reason:
3.2: Apps with placeholder text will be rejected
    Oct 21, 2011 03:38 PM. From Apple.
      3.2
We found that your app and/or its metadata does not appear to include final content, which is not in compliance with the App Store Review Guidelines.
Specifically, we noticed that the app metadata does not include a description of the app's features.
While your iTunes Connect Application State will show as Metadata Rejected, we do NOT require a new binary if you only need to change your metadata. (A new binary is required only when you have to also make changes within the app.)
If you only need to change your metadata, please visit iTunes Connect, Manage Your Applications, and revise the appropriate metadata values or settings, then click Save. After saving, click "Save," then click "Submit New Metadata" in the top right.
Actually I do not understand what they mean with "placeholder text" but above all I would like to ask to someone expert - I rely on BOB! -  (I am a newby to DPS and Apple) if this means that I have to re-create from the start the app from the Folio Builder changing something in Indesign or if they just mean I have to modify something in iTunes Connect without touching the binary file.
I am in a great confusion because they say the "app metadata" does not include a description of the app's features but I do not know how can I change the "metadata" within the app (in fact I believe that when they refer to the "app metadata" the mean the "metadata" inside the app and not the metadata that I add in iTunes Connect).
The doubt that I have now is that maybe the last update of the Viewer Builder or of the Folio Builder has changed something that now generates this issue?
Of course I am contacting also Apple for this issue, but in the meanwhile it would be a relief for me to hear a suggestion from here!
Thank you to anyone for any reply!

app metadata is the description text you enter while adding your app into
    iTunes connect.
as is in the statement, for doing metadata changes, you don't need to submit
a new binary (aka .zip file containing your folio)
add more details of the feature of you app into the description in iTunes
connect aand you should be fine.
there is no 'metadata' inside tje binary of your app that you can change.
but Bob can add sth. to this eventually.

  • Problems with WAS 6.40 Installation on Oracle - Phase 11 of 34

    Hello,
<b>Problems with WAS 6.40 Installation on Oracle (Phase 11 of 34)</b>
with the installation of the Web Application server 6,40 SR1 on a Oracle server I get in phase 11 of 34 (Create Oracle Database) the following error-message:
CJS-00084 - SQL statement or script failed. Diagnosis: Error message: ORA-12547: TNS:lost contact.
error while loading shared library: libodm9.so : cannot open shared object file: No such file or dirctory.
    Best Reagrds,
    Ralf Steffens

    hi Ralf
i've found one composite note for Oracle <a href="https://websmp203.sap-ag.de/~form/sapnet?_FRAME=CONTAINER&_OBJECT=011000358700001366932002">505630</a>
    hope this solves...
    <i><b>Symptom</b>
    ORA-12547: TNS:lost contact
Brbackup, brarchive, brrestore or brconnect may terminate with errors similar to the following:
    BR301E SQL error -12547 at location BrDbConnect-1
    BR301E SQL error -12547 at location dbf_info_get-1
Sapdba returns the following error, for example:
SAPDBA: ORACLE error -12547 occurred while checking instance status!
The R/3 work processes or R3trans return the following error at Connect:
C  *** ERROR => CONNECT failed with sql error '12547'
    <b>Other terms</b>
    TNS-12547, TNS-00517
    <b>Reason and Prerequisites</b>
As part of the Net8 Connect, a program such as the R/3 kernel, R3trans, svrmgrl, sqlplus or ODMA establishes a connection to the Oracle database. If the connection terminates due to problems at the server end, it can result in ORA-12547.
Additional information for the error is often available in sqlnet.log. In many cases, other messages that are not reported by all tools precede ORA-12547. If ORA-12547 occurs when the ODMA accesses the old Oracle-Home during a database upgrade, for example, it may make sense to temporarily restart ORACLE_HOME on the old Oracle-Home for test purposes and then to execute sqlplus or svrmgrl.
Even if sapdba or the BR tools terminate with an ORA-12547 when calling sqlplus or svrmgrl recursively, you should, for test purposes, call sqlplus or svrmgrl manually with the operating system user that was used.
Hopefully, a more informative error message will appear in addition to ORA-12547, for example:
ld.so.1: oracleC11: fatal: relocation error: file
               /oracle/C11/817_64/libx8.so: symbol ksunsga_:
               referenced symbol not found
If you find accompanying error messages of this type, start a note search with the corresponding search terms since we are often aware of the problem and a solution may already be available. If you do not find any significant error messages or a suitable note, check the following possible causes for ORA-12547:
    1. UNIX: Incorrectly linked Oracle tools
    2. UNIX: Problems with XPG4 compliance and s-bit
    3. Too many requests to the listener at the same time
    4. HP-UX, Oracle 8.1: Missing OS patch
    5. Use of CRYPTO parameters in sqlnet.ora
    6. AIX: I/O Async is deactivated
    7. Resource problems
    8. The CONNECT_TIMEOUT_LISTENER parameter in listener.ora is too low
    9. Activated Oracle trace
    10. UNIX: Incorrect oracle executable authorization
    11. SOLARIS: LD_LIBRARY_PATH set when you call ODMA
    12. AIX: Problem with post/wait kernel enhancement
    13. UNIX: Problems with the libobk library
    14. SOLARIS: Incorrect search sequence in the path variable
    15. UNIX: Conflicts between 32-bit and 64-bit files
    <b>Solution</b>
    1. Relink the Oracle software as ora<sid> with
      cd $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/lib
      make -f ins_rdbms.mk install
                  or
      relink all
    1. See Note 88884.
    2. If individual work processes terminate with ORA-12547 when you start an R/3 instance, See Note 131561.
    3. See Note 399610.
    4. You can set security parameters that begin with SQLNET.CRYPTO_ in sqlnet.ora as part of the Advanced Security Option. Oracle releases < 8.1.7 cannot process these parameters correctly and result in ORA-12547. In this case, delete these types of parameters from sqlnet.ora.
    5. If I/O is deactivated on AIX Async, the Net8 Connect fails with ORA-12547. In this case, activate I/O Async by using smitty.
    6. Insufficient resources such as available memory on the database server can cause ORA-12547. For more information, see 384839.
    7. In individual cases, it may make sense to increase the CONNECT_TIMEOUT_LISTENER parameter in listener.ora (for example, by 5 seconds, so from 10 to 15). Although a value of 10 seconds should usually be sufficient to establish a connection.
    8. Delete the log files written by the Oracle trace in accordance with Note 92537.
    9. Check to see whether the executable in $ORACLE_HOME/bin has the "rwsr-s--x" authorizations and the ora<sid> owner and correct this if necessary.
    10. If you call ODMA on SOLARIS as part of a database upgrade and if LD_LIBRARY_PATH is set explicitly (on the lib directory of the target release), calling the old Oracle software through ODMA may fail with ORA-12547. If you use the old ORACLE_HOME to list sqlplus or svrmgrl, you get the following error:
      ld.so.1: oracle<sid>: fatal: relocation error:
               file /oracle/<sid>/817_64/libx8.so: symbol ksunsga_:
               referenced symbol not found
      ORA-12547: TNS:lost contact
In this case, permanently delete LD_LIBRARY_PATH from the environment. This does not have any negative effects since the libraries are automatically found in the correct directories as of Oracle 8.1.
If problems occur with the post/wait extension on AIX, the following type of errors will be displayed:
exec(): 0509-036 Cannot load program oracleC11 because of the
      following errors:
0509-130 Symbol resolution failed for oracle because:
0509-136   Symbol pw_post (number 2524) is not exported
                          from dependent module /unix.
0509-136   Symbol pw_wait (number 2525) is not exported
                          from dependent module /unix.
0509-136   Symbol pw_config (number 2526) is not exported
                          from dependent module /unix.
0509-192 Examine .loader section symbols with the
                       'dump -Tv' command.
      ORA-12547: TNS:lost contact
    1. If the libobk library was created incorrectly, the following type of errors may occur:
      /oracle/C11/817_64/bin/oracle: /sbin/loader:
Fatal Error: Cannot map library libobk.so
      /usr/lib/pa20_64/dld.sl: Unable to find library
        '/oracle/C11/lib64/libobk.sl
exec(): 0509-036 Cannot load program oracleC11 because of the
              following errors:
      0509-150   Dependent module /oracle/C11/817_64/lib/libobk.a(shr.o)
                 could not be loaded.
0509-152   Member shr.o is not found in archive
      ORA-12547: TNS:lost contact
Check to see whether libobk exists and, if it is a link, that it points to a valid object. Note 142635 contains more information about this. The libobk link may point to this if a libsbtsh8.* file exists in the Oracle library directory. If you are using a third-party Backint tool, contact the relevant supplier, since libobk often has to point to a backint-specific library.
    1. If an error such as
      ld.so.1: ./svrmgrl: fatal: libucb.so.1: open failed:
               No such file or directory
      ORA-12547: TNS:lost contact
occurs, the PATH has probably been set incorrectly. For more information, see Note 44361.
    1. If an error such as
      ld.so.1: oracle<sid>: fatal: <library> wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS64
      ORA-12547: TNS:lost contact
concerning "wrong ELF class" occurs, check whether the <library> mistakenly has a different bit size than the tool that was called. You can determine this using
      file <library>
      file <tool>
All the files involved must uniformly be either 32-bit or 64-bit.
