Server 3.1.2: Unable to locate search base: -1 Can't contact LDAP server

Hello all—
I've been getting repeated errors below in my system.log.  I'm running OS X 10.9.3 with Server version 3.1.2.  I've replaced my actual server name with "my.servername.net" in the log entries. Thanks for any advice!  —michael

Unfortunately this problem wasn't solved this way.  After dragging the Server.app to the trash and then retrieving it ("Put Back") and launching it, and re-starting services, my problem still persists.
Here are relevant system.log file entries. (Note the hostname is "leo"—I've changed the FQDN to leo.myservername.net):

Also, for what it's worth, "Open Directory" in the Server.app has no settings within it. Nor will it stay "on." I'm not using OD per se, and am happy to leave it off, but it's possible the errors above are preventing it from running.
Thanks for any other solutions. —michael

  • Cannot compile Library project in Flash builder 4: Unable to locate specified base class

    I am migrating from Flex builder 3 to Flash builder 4, during that process I found that Flash builder could'nt compile Flex Library projects which contains components in the form of mxml files. Compiler throws "Unable to locate specified base class".
    I have narrowed it down to by creating a flex library project named test library, below its screenshot with its package structure
    ControlA is based on componentA
    when i compile this project, mxml compiler throws this error
    Unable to locate specified base class 'components.componentA' for component class 'ControlA'.
    I cannot upload project code because file uploads are disabled on this forum so I am going to paste the code for both componentA and controlA
    componentA
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <mx:Canvas xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" xmlns:local="*" width="400" height="300">
    </mx:Canvas>
    ControlA
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <components:componentA xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" xmlns:components="components.*" width="400" height="300">
    </components:componentA>
    To further test it, I have made another library project with same package structure using pure AS3, and it compiled without errors

    It might be this happens and other errors if you forget to Run Flash Builder 4.5 Buritto and startup the other version FB4.
    It uses the same project listings and that can be confusing since you're not expecting the old version to be aware of new Buritto (MobileApplications) projects you added (thinking) only to the BETA version installed elseware no doubt.
    Well it might not be your problem but worthy of noting for other's I'm sure.
    Otherwise you've double checked you're using SDK 4.5 Hero with it too! right?

  • Unable to locate specified base class 'resources.style1.HelpButtonIcon' for component class

    Hi,
    I have a Flex (4.1.0) project, which has many skinnable custom components. The application allows a user to choose another style which changes these skins via loading a new compiled CSS. These non-default skins are in a separate Flex project.  I've not had a problem with this method until now.
    The custom component I am skinning contains several icons which are defined in the component like this:
    [SkinPart(required="true", type="mx.core.IVisualElement")]
    public var componentIconHelp:IFactory;
    then I use the iconRendererFunction to return the appropriate component part:
    private function iconRendererFunction(item:Object):IFactory
         //truncated method
         return componentIconHelp;
    Within the skin for "style1", I then have
    <s:Skin xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009"
         xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark"
         xmlns:mx="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx"
         xmlns:style1="resources.style1.*">
    <!-- host component -->
    <fx:Metadata>
         [HostComponent("myApp.components.ButtonComponent")]
    </fx:Metadata>
    <fx:Declarations>
         <fx:Component id="componentIconHelp">
              <style1:HelpButtonIcon />
         </fx:Component>
    </Declarations>
    When I try to compile this, I get the "Unable to locate specified base class 'resources.style1.HelpButtonIcon' for component class 'resources.style1.ButtonComponentSkinInnerClass0'" error.
    If I remove the HelpButtonIcon from the <fx:Component> declaration, and just put it in the main body of the skin, it compiles and renders, but I need it to be a component (there's multiple components I have to choose from to display, similar to the ButtonBar skin).
    Any ideas why it's not compiling and what I need to do to achive this?
    Thanks

    Thanks, one step closer (or further away :-)
    I tried adding the airspark.swc to the library path for the project and it made no difference so I added:
    -external-library-path /Applications/Adobe Flash Builder 4/sdks/4.0.0/frameworks/libs/air/airspark.swc
    to the external tools configuration and now get the error:
    command line: Error: unable to open 'Flash'
    The project itself runs fine, it's only the ASDocs that's causing problems.

  • Windows 2000 laptop seems unable to locate extreme base station?

    I've bought a new Imac and extreme base station - i've wired my cable internet through the Wan port into the Extreme and then through a cable into the Imac and this works fine but despite the fact that my extreme base station has been configured and the green light is showing, my IBM thinkpad (running windows 2000) is unable to locate it? It can find other Wifi networks in the area which suggests it is working? Any ideas? I have changed the wireless security to WEP but still no joy? Thanks Paul

    Hello PaulWilliams...Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
    First, try temporarily disabling WEP (or any) encryption on the 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn), and then try accessing the Internet wirelessly with your Windows 2000 laptop.
    If successful, I'd suggest using WPA or WPA2, instead of WEP, for your wireless security...assuming that your Windows 2000 laptop supports these. If you must use WEP, then you will need to provide the "Equivalent Network Password" to the laptop in order for it to connect wirelessly.

  • Can't contact LDAP server

    Hello,
    Have setup DSEE 7 in the following manner 2 ldap hosts running Solaris 10 10/08 s10x_u6wos_07b X86
    These 2 ldap servers are connected into another host that is running the DSCC console. Everything from the DSCC console looks
    good and works good. Problem is when I try to connect with ldapsearch I get this error " ldap_sasl_interactive_bind_s: Can't contact LDAP server (-1) "
    SSL certs are current and contain the subject alternative name for each ldap host. These are behind a cisco content switch. It does not appear to be a SSL
    issue from what I can see. The certs are enabled on the ldap hosts and from the debugging output that looks ok. ldapsearch below was run from a linux host.

    Perhaps this is something I am missing on the setup side for the ldap hosts from inside DSCC ?   Logs from the ldap servers have not provided much insight...

    Do you actually want to use a secure connection? If not, you could add "-x" to that ldapsearch and it will perform plain auth (not SASL).
    Also for plain ldap requests, you should use the ldap port, not the ldaps port
    If you wanted to perform a search over SSL, then you should use the -Z and -P options too. Please read the admin guide.

    I know for sure, the network connectivity is working as i get my results back from the BI Server. Please advise, if i need to change other configurations on the Presentation end. As my network folks have run out of ideas. Thx!

    Can you go to the server, open a CMD windows and do "ping nsldap.companyname.com" and see if it works. If it works it could be that the LDAP port is blocked by a firewall or OBIEE is not able to make a connection. Make sure you are using the correct port as well. Install an LDAP client in your OBIEE Server and test that you can connect to your LDAP server from your OBIEE Server, not from the RPD. You can use this:

  • CR 6.1 - Unable to locate lens profile automatically

    Raw files from Canon camera are correctly identified and lens distortion is corrected automatically, but on jpgs from same camera I get this error: "unable to locate lens profile automatically".Can't even do it manually as lens profile that is available for raw file is missing from drop down menu on jpgs. Also weird because it does show some lens profiles in drop downs, just not the right one. But, again, right one is there for raw files. Weird!

    That is because lens profiles for raw and non-raw are necessarily different and separate (like color profiles). We have more raw lens files available than non-raw lens profiles (e.g., Canon 70-200 lenses). As a general rule, I would encourage you to be applying lens corrections via profiles at the raw stage in CR, rather than to JPEGs/TIFFs (given a choice between the two), because of various technical advantages in the former case.

  • I used to have safari browser on my iphone but can no longer locate it. How can I get it back or download it?

    I no longer have safari as my web browser and am unable to locate it. How can I load it back onto my iphone?

    You cannot delete it.
    It is likely on another page, in a folder, or you have restrictions set.
    Check all of these.
    If you do not find it, then reset your home screen layout.
    All of this is covered in the manual:

  • When I try to upgrade labview 6i to 6.1 some there are some devicenet vis it can not locate. ie devicenet error handler.vi. I am unable to locate these vi's in a windows search

    I am currently running devicenet on labview 6i to communicate to a slc500 plc. I am trying to upgrade labview 6i to 6.1. If i use the windows search function, I am still unable to locate these vis. When i try to upgrade i am unable to run the application because there are a few vi that labview is unable to locate. ie Open devicenet interface.vi, Read devicenet interface.vi ... Where can i find thses vis

    Windows search can't find them because they're in an LLB and not as discrete files. Look in your 6.0 folder for NIDNET.LLB (I think that's the name). I think it'll be in the vi.lib or vi.lib\AddOns folder. You'll also want to copy over any .mnu files to the same location in the 6.1 folder. You can also find the location of the VIs by opening the VI in 6.0 and looking at the VI hierarchy. Turn on Include VIs in vi.lib and Full VI path in Label. Your other option is just to reinstall the device net software. It should install the VIs to the currently active LabVIEW location.

  • Messaging Server 4: WebMail login returns "unable to locate the server"

    When I log into WebMail, the following error occurs:<BR>
    <P>
    Netscape is unable to locate the server <I>hostname</I>.
    Please check the server name and try again.
    <P>

    <P>
    First verify that you cannot reach the hostname
    server by using the ping
    utility (Windows NT or Unix). If
    you cannot reach the host, report this problem to the appropriate system
    administrator or help desk.
    <P>
    However, if you can reach the host with ping
    , then the problem may be a minor
    networking issue that you can resolve. There is also the possibility that
    the network has been configured to allow users to ping
    unreachable systems. You can use the
    following actions to rule out possible sources of the problem:<BR>
    <P>
    <OL>
    <LI>Attempt to log in to WebMail again. If you can log in successfully, then

  • Patching WebLogic server - Unable to locate the specified product directory

    We are trying to apply the October CPU patch to our WebLogic 10.3.6 installation on Windows Server 2003.  However, when we run the below command:
    bsu -install -patch_download_dir=E:\ofm11g\utils\bsu\cache_dir -patchlist=BYJ1 -prod_dir=E:\ofm11g\wlserver_10.3
    We receive this error:
    Unable to locate the specified product directory.[E:\ofm11g\wlserver_10.3]
    That directory is valid.  We are running two instances using this WLS installation - Oracle Reports 11.1.1.6 and Oracle Portal 11.1.1.6.  We are trying to apply the patch with the same user that installed the software.
    I was able to successfully run this command on a different server that runs Oracle Internet Directory 11.1.1.6.
    Any ideas?

    I was able to fix this by ensuring that E:\ofm11g\wlserver_10.3 contained two files: .home and .product.properties.  After I copied these from a different server and edited to fit my environment, I was able to successfully install this patch.

    2013-03-21 13:06:20,344 ERROR [home] com.bea.plateng.wizard.installer.silent.tasks.SilentBEAHomeTask - The local BEA product registry is corrupted. Please select another Middleware Home or contact Oracle Supportwhich means the select option 'WebLogic Server/WebLogic Web Server Plugins' is not a valid option (this is indeed the case as in WebLogic 12c there are no Plugins available, you can use the ones for WebLogic 10.3.6 though, but that is not the issue here).
    After editing the weblogic-silent.xml to reflect the correct components, we have something like:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <bea-installer>
         <input-fields>
              <!-- BEAHOME: The full path for the middleware home directory. -->
              <data-value name="BEAHOME" value="/home/someone/weblogic12.1.1/installation"/>
              <!-- WLS_INSTALL_DIR: The full path for the directory where to install WebLogic Server. -->
              <data-value name="WLS_INSTALL_DIR" value="/home/someone/weblogic12.1.1/installation/wlserver_12.1"/>
              <!-- OCP_INSTALL_DIR: The full path for the directory where to install Coherence. -->
              <data-value name="OCP_INSTALL_DIR" value="/home/someone/weblogic12.1.1/installation/coherence_3.7"/>
              <!-- COMPONENT_PATHS: Specify the components and subcomponents to install. -->
              <data-value name="COMPONENT_PATHS" value="WebLogic Server/Core Application Server|WebLogic Server/Administration Console|WebLogic Server/Configuration Wizard and Upgrade Framework|WebLogic Server/Web 2.0 HTTP Pub-Sub Server|WebLogic Server/WebLogic SCA|WebLogic Server/WebLogic JDBC Drivers|WebLogic Server/Third Party JDBC Drivers|WebLogic Server/WebLogic Server Clients|WebLogic Server/Xquery Support|Oracle Coherence/Coherence Product Files"/>
              <!-- INSTALL_NODE_MANAGER_SERVICE: Install Node Manager as a Windows service. -->
              <data-value name="INSTALL_NODE_MANAGER_SERVICE" value="no"/>
              <!-- LOCAL_JVMS: Select JVMs which are already installed. -->
              <data-value name="LOCAL_JVMS" value="/home/someone/jrockit"/>
         </input-fields>
    </bea-installer>
    Unfortunately, the documentation (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24329_01/doc.1211/e24492/silent.htm#i1044116) says the option 'WebLogic Server/WebLogic Web Server Plugins' is available. When running the installation again the following is observed:
    [someone@middleware-magic temp]$ ./install-software.sh

    and we have a much larger log file, with the last entry reading
    2013-03-21 13:09:26,990 INFO  [WizardController] com.bea.plateng.wizard.silent.tasks.LogTask - The installation was successfull!In your case it crashed on: Unable to locate product "WebLogic Server " - which looks like you have enters in your XML file "value="WebLogic Server/Core Application Server|WebLogic Server". Make sure everything is on one line, and that (as in my case) you select the right components.
    Should have posted this answer two days ago, but I thought to let you flounder a little (just kidding).
