Server-Client and collections/syncronization question

Hi guys, I am learning about server and client relationships and was playing around with some code.
I have a catalog on Server machine that multiple clients need to read and modify. I set up multi thread server with sockets and I/o that work well when several clients connect to it. My problem is with catalog itself.
Catalog is located in a file on a Server Machine. I was thinking of reading catalog into a collection (either set or list)and then sending the info to the client somewhow. I realize that collection would have to be static so that changes would be made to it with multiple clients and I understand that some modifying or update methods should be syncronized. So my questions are
a) How do I create the collection (set or List) from the text file?
b) Is there some method like syncronizedSet(set s) or something?
Any suggestions?

Must be the server has different clients,one declared as application server ie abap stack client and the other declared as Integration server ie XI. U might be trying to open idx5 in application server client, in which idx5 exists but you cant open the screen even, that can be achieved through we02.
000 is the default client when XI server is installed .We can create separate clients on the system through sccl tcode.
As told we can find the client on sap logon screen.
Logon to sxmb_adm and check whether the client is declared as an application system(r/3) or Integration server(xi).Try idx5 in xi not r/3

Mavericks server alerts and User account questions

I'm looking for more detailed information about setting up Alerts in Mavericks Server, plus I seem to have a strange problem with new user accounts when setting up.
More Info.
I have a Mac Mini acting almost 100% exclusively as a Time Machine backup device with encryption of three portable computers on a wired network. This was originally set up three years using Snow Leopard Server and a 2Tb external FireWire Drive.
The external drive is now proving too small, and in any case is showing the possible first signs of failure when tested, so the intention is to replace it with a RAID of some sort, probably a 2-drive RAID 1 device but if the budget allows we might be able to look at RAID 5 or 6 units.
It seems a good opportunity to clean install Mavericks Server on the Mini, so I've set up a test station on my MacBook Pro with my Mac Pro (both running 10.9.2) as a test backup client. The Server OS is on an external FireWire boot drive, and the TM backup folders are on another external, in this case a USB 3.0
For obvious reasons there does not seem to be any reason to turn on more services than absolutely necessary, so just Time Machine and File Sharing for the moment. All works well but I can't seem to get Alerts working. I've listed 3 different eMail addresses (all mine) for the alerts to be sent to, and I have two Admin Accounts for Notifications, both using the same AppleID I set the Server software up with. I've gone through the rather sparse setup help information carefully, and there is no information about additional services being required, although I did try setting up the Mail client (tested sending and receiving) on the Server and having it running whilst the backups were being tested.
As I said, the test backups went fine and when I disconnected the backup drive from the Server to simulate a failed drive the TM on the Mac Pro client showed an alert saying the backup drive could not be found. However, there were no emails or Notifications received, either on the Mac Pro or my iPhone from the Server.
There seems to be minimal amount of information available about the workings of Mavericks Server, but I have gone through what I can additionally find online about Mountain Lion Server, with no real indication of what it is that I am missing. The only instructions seem to be exactly what I've done, so your advice would be appreciated.
Another thing that puzzles me, is that when restarting the MacBook Pro I get all the Admin and Standard User Accounts (created in Server.app) showing at the login screen. This is only four Accounts in total, so what would happen if this was 50 Users? If I click on the 'User' tab in Server.app I get 83 User Accounts showing, but that was not the case until this evening, as only the Admin and Stardard User Accounts I had set up were visible.
It's obviously possible that I've mucked up the install and basic setup somehow, but I can't see that anything I've done would have these effects as I've been careful to follow the options put in front of me.

There's nothing to fetch. You assign the value from the function GET_APPLICATION_PROPERTY(USERNAME); as you would any value returned from a function.

L4 ASA5520 Firewall act as NTP Server/Client

Hi experts,
I know that ASA can act as ntp server/client simultaneously, so my question is, do you preffer/recommend to use dorder router or FW such as ASA to act as NTP server for internal switch/router as well as the windows hosts??? I know that network equipments is ok, but not sure how about synch time from ASA to windows hosts.
so, I've ASA 5520 and designed to be reside on L4 Firewall, and also create one DMZ, and put PDC on inside's ASA. then what is the best practice for time stratum?
1) Use L4 FW, asa 5520 to get time from internet, and configure it to NTP server as well as. then my internal switches/routers and windows PDC(primary domain controller)could set their time source to border asa 5520.
2) Set internal PDC to take time from internet, supposed to allow to pass only ntp between PDC/internet via ASA 5520, then L4 ASA 5520 and others sw/routers get time from insides PDC...
can some one point me out?

My central point for sync NTP is my SVI in Management, and this one Sync from Internet in last case i have a less prefered end-point (PDC)

I have a few collections, but not all PC's in those collections are listed in "All Desktop and Server Clients".

The All Desktops and Server collection only contains devices that show client=yes.
Meaning the Configuration Manager client is installed on those devices.
This WQL query will give you a collection of all devices that do not have the client installed.

I normally create both and then a third collection of all devices and exclude the above two which should show you all healthy devices.
Have a look at the ccmsetup.log file on the client if it has attempted to install the ConfigMgr client but failed.

Location of stubs, skeletons, remote interface ,client and server files

I have a question to the subject mentioned above :
In a training example for RMI I red the following :

into server location ....
I understand that with the exception that the stubs must also be located at server side. My understanding is
that it is enough if those reside only at client side. Is that
right or wrong ?

The stubs must be available (in the classpath) on the server side. This is because when a remote server object is exported, the RMI runtime creates an instance of the stub (instead of the server) and sends it whenever a reference to the server is encountered. In order to create (and then serialize) the stub, its class file must be available on the server.

Abap proxies ( Client and Server proxies)

Good day to you. I am now started doing some example scenarios on ABAP proxies(ie Client and Server proxies). After going through the blogs which are avialable, i am writing this question to you for clarification.
As per my understanding, the below are the required predefined settings which i need to do in my landscape to generate abap proxies(ie client and server proxies).
My landscape includes the below systems.
System A : SAP XI 3.0 system and
System B : SAP R/3 on WAS 620
SAP R/3 predefined Steps
1.Create HTTP connection in the business system.
2.Configuration Business system as local Integration Engine.
3. Connection between Business System and System Landscape Directory.
4. Maintaining the SAP J2EE Connection Parameters for LCRSAPRFC and SAPSLDAPI in SAP J2EE engine
(Here in the step 4, i found the below needs to be done)
1. Goto J2EE Engine
2. Choose Cluster --> Server --> Services. JCo RFC provider
3. Under RFC destination specify the following:
     Program ID: LCRSAPRFC
     Gateway Host: <Integration Server host>
     Gateway Service: <Integration Server gateway service>
     Number of process: 3
4. Under Repository specify the following:
5. Choose Set.
Application Server: <Integration Server host>
(i am not able to perform the steps which comes under point 4. so please Guide me how to goto J2EE engine and configure accordingly.
5. Maintain SLD access details in Transaction SLDAPICUST.
As per my understanding, i need to do the above predefined configuration steps in SAP R/3 system (ie bussiness System) for doing Abap Client or Server proxies.
And in the meantime, i would like to know whether i need to do any predefined configuration steps in XI 3.o system also. Please check and suggest me accordingly.
Once i get clarification on predefined configuration steps, i will proceed with the example scenarios on client and server proxies which are already in SDN.

thanks for your response. you said that for the connection type 'H' we need to provide values for GATEWAY HOST and GATEWAY SERVICE but here i need to create the RFC destination of type 'T'. so please tell me whether i need to give the values for GATEWAY HOST and GATEWAY SERVICE for connection type 'T' also and the second thing is please tell me the difference between Application system and bussiness system accordingly to my landscape which i mentioned in my question.
I am in little confusion because as per the requirement for abap proxies in the blog they mentioned that all these setting should be done in the bussiness system (ie SAP R/3) but you are saying that Application system. so please clarify.

UDP Server/Client Question

I'm just starting to work on this new server/client app and very new to UDP. Right now, I'm trying to read up on it. I'm wondering if anyone can point me to some good reading material. Quick question though, if a server (c-based) sends several messages, one right after another, can a client (java-based) handles these messages? How to handle when Client and server write to the socket at the same time

Hi all,
I'm writing a socket communication when client and server may write information the the socket at the same time. I look every where but the samples from the internet only shows example of server replies to client after receiving requests from clients.
Let's say that:
Client 1 ->Socket 1 -> Server 1
Now if there are two threads in the server, one blocked waiting for the input from client on socket 1, the second one write something on the socket to client 1, is it possible?
And if it's possible, if at the time Server 1 writes information to Client 1, Client 1 writes some information to Server 1 too, will there be any conflict problem or the socket could handle that two ways communication simultaneously?
It's critical questions for me. Thanks for your help.

I really use Server Client paradigm. However, beside the request, response mechanism, there is also an additional mechanism called update which server periodically send information update to client without the need for a request from client.
So you suggest client should initiate 2 sockets, one for request and response, one for receiving update from the server? Will this work?

SMB issue 10.4 client and 10.5 server solved?

I searched for days to solve the problem to connect via SMB from a 10.4 client on shared files on 10.5 server. But I did not find any answer except unable guest access (what is no real solution).
Why this error code -36 appears when trying to connect from the client (because encrypted password IS enabled)?
Why SMB still works using 10.5 clients and Windows PC's?
Why SMB works when guest access is unabled, but connected with defined accounts?
Does anybody can answer this questions?

I had a similar issue and I was able to make things a bit better by letting all users have access to SMB under the server access settings. You can still limit who has access to each individual share. I still have some other odd issues but I can at least connect.

EAP with Windows 2000 client and IAS server

Several messages on this site point to peole using EAP on a Windows 2000 client and authenticating against an IAS server. I am running an Aironet 350 AP and trying to setup my Windows 2000 clients to use EAP only and authenticate against a Windows 2000 AD forest via IAS. The access point and client are on the latest firmware and drivers (12.0 for AP). I have two basic questions.
1. It is my understanding that by enabling Network-EAP as the only authenticaiton type that users will authenticate and then dynamic WEP keys will be used, greatly reducing the risks of compromised WEP keys while at the same time keeping the data encrypted.
2. Does anyone have a quick HOW-TO or point-by-point list of how to configure the Windows 2000 client to authentication using the Network-EAP method? I am currently running into a situation where no matter what I configure on the client, the IAS server reports and error with "Reason: The authentication type is not supported on this system." I also noticed that the "Authentication-Type" and "EAP-Type" fields shown in the IAS messages in the Windows 2000 Event Viewer log have the value "<undetermined>". Has anyone else run into this?

I'm having a similar problem. I'm trying to do PEAP and it appears that IAS is not handling the request properly. It keeps trying to log the user PEAP-##### in instead of setting up the TLS and then asking for Username, Pass, Domain. The IAS error message I'm getting is:

That's rather harsh and unprofessional - especially coming from an employee of Informatica, don't you think?... Had you been drinking? There's nothing wrong with asking the questions. Sure, I think it's pretty easy to assume Informatica wouldn't officially support such a mismatch, but you know what else Informatica doesn't "support"? running their products on overprovisioned virtual environments - which is ridiculous considering over-provisioning is the reason many companies go to virtualized hardware in the first place. So sometimes the official statement of support is nothing more than a technicality. Of course a customer should not expect the vendor to officially list support for myriad combinations of client/server versions, but that doesn't mean it can't work - you even state that in your reply regarding v8. And you know, in the real world outside of a lab environment, there are some very legitmate reasons why such a mis-match scenario might be the only option, at least for a short period of time. In my case it's because my company requires all workstation software to go through a lenghty certification process before it can be packaged for distribution, but I need to get my upgrade going on the server side asap. We've got the 960HF1 client already certified, and the 960HF2 client certification is underway, but I need to upgrade to 960HF2 server now. The reason I asked is to try to find out if anyone in the real world is doing this and if there are risks. I wasn't really interested in the "official" response considering that's what I get from Informatica Global Support after paying who knows how many hundreds of thousands of dollars in annual support fees. What about another hypothetical scenario: an installation with hundreds of users goes through an upgrade but not all those users get the client install completed immediately. A developer "really needs to get some work done now" and doesn't have time to perform the client install so they use the old client with the new server. I'm sure this happens multiple times per day, every day among Informatica customers in the real world so maybe Informatica should consider developing clients that can more easily tolerate a minor version or hotfix mis-match. Makes sense, doesn't it? Backwards compatibility is certainly not a new concept... I know our team in India routinely has major problems trying to get their clients updated in a timely fashion due to the fact that the client tools package is a whopping 2.8 GB - that can take hours to download in some places, assuming the transfer isn't interrupted... Maybe next time check your labcoat and attitude at the door before coming in, thanks.

Connection between SDM client and server is broken

First of all this is what I have

-using VPN connection
-telnet on port 57018 is succesfull
I can login to SDM server (from NWDS and from SDM GUI) I can see the state of SDM(green light), restart it, can navigate through tabs in GUI, but every time I am trying to deploy an ear i have this error:

Inner exception was :
