Hello Herlind,
I think you need not only to copy the 'Icon\r' file to the destination folder but also to set the custom icon flag of destination folder.
Try something like this. It uses SetFile command of Developer Tools.
--SCRIPT (not tested)
set src to POSIX path of (choose folder with prompt "Choose source folder.")
set dst to POSIX path of (choose folder with prompt "Choose target folder.")
copyCustomIcon(src, dst)
on copyCustomIcon(src, dst)
string src, dst : POSIX path of source and destination folders

  • Unable to traverse directories with Command-Up Arrow anymore

This is a weird thing. Before going to 10.6/10.6.1, I was able to go up/down a directory level with Command-Up Arrow/Down Arrow, either in Finder or a save/load box.
Now, it doesn't work - has the update broken it ? Or is there a way to fix it ?

It seems to work OK on the MBP also on 10.6.1, but the iMac isn't playing ball. I'm debating whether or not to reinstall it again in case it's missing something.
I've deleted the finder.plist to no avail except for having to set up everything again !

  • Calendar Server crashes in Yosemite 10.10 with Server App 4.0

I am running an OS X Server (4.0) in Yosemite 10.10 locally on my iMac to provide calendars in our house. Since the combined update of OS and the "Server App" the calendar server crashes frequently. It restarts when I run the server app but crashes again a couple of minutes later.
Error log is below, I hope someone has an idea.

Looks like a corrupt database. I suggest you export all calendars on the clients, then delete /Library/Server/Wiki/Data and reinitialize the server.
    Back up all data.
Quit the Server application and drag it to the Trash, but don't empty. You'll be prompted to confirm that you want to stop all services. You won't lose any data.
If you're using the server for DNS, temporarily change the primary DNS setting in the Network preference pane to your ISP's DNS.
Put the app back where it was and launch it. Test.
Revert the DNS setting, if applicable.

  • Computer crashed - now I get folder with question mark on startup

Last week my computer froze when I was using it.
I waited about 15 minutes and it was still frozen. So I powered it off.
I re-started computer and ran Disk Warrior. It repaired some files. Now when my computer re-starts I get the folder with the question mark for several minutes -- and then it boots up.
What is the file it's looking for? Is there any way I can fix it?
    Thanks.

    Hi, Sean.
This indicates the system was having problems finding the startup disk.
    1. In System Preferences > Startup Disk, be sure the desired disk is selected as the Startup Disk.
    2. As a general check, run the procedure specified in my "Resolving Disk, Permission, and Cache Corruption" FAQ. Perform the steps therein in the order specified.
    3. See also "A flashing question mark appears when you start your Mac."
    4. Did you write down the errors found by Disk Warrior or save the report? The worst-case scenario here is that the OS is corrupted and has to be reinstalled via Archive and Install. See my "General advice on performing an Archive and Install" FAQ for some important tips on this process if you decide to go that route as no other troubleshooting has corrected the problem.
    Good luck!

  • X server crashes randomly on ThinkPad X201i with GNOME2 as desktop env

    Hi folks,
I installed archlinux with gnome2 on my new X201i, which has intel graphic chip.
But the gnome2 (i.e., the xorg server) randomly crashes, quitting to command line suddenly, with all my work lost!
The sad thing is, I manually 'startx' after booting, without using gdm. So the workaround of 'moving gdm to the end of DAEMON list' doesn't work for me.
And I even cannot stably reproduce the crash: it just happen randomly, about once per day.
The DAEMONs I start at boot time are:
DAEMONS=(syslog-ng dbus hal network netfs crond alsa laptop-mode ntpd)
    The MODULEs are:
    MODULES=(fuse tp_smapi vboxdrv)
The command I use to startx is: (in .xinitrc)
    exec ck-launch-session dbus-launch gnome-session

  • Open file in folder with command line program

I have a file, which is in native format for a given program [1] I have installed. This program I can start from Terminal.app and within the program I can open the file. The question is if I can have associated with this specific filetype this program and when I double click on a file of this type I can have a Terminal.app opened with my program running inside opening the file for me.
Btw, on a regular Linux/Unix I would just associate this filetype with the path to my program. On Mac I can associate only with .app.. Is there other way?
    [1] http://root.cern.ch/drupal/

I do not fully understand your question.
You need to make your program into an application. I have not programmed on Mac OS so I to not know the details. You could hack some existing app. I do know that the plist file for an app points to the starting program.
Another work around would be to write an apple script file to call your program.
This applescript invokes a unix program.
       Run in the Script Editor.
Click on the Event Log tab to see the output from the log statement
       Click on Run
       For running shell commands see:

-- ask the user for the folder name.

set theFolder to quoted form of theFolder
log "quoted form is " & theFolder
-- running two Unix commands. Separate with a semicolon
set fromUnix to do shell script "cd " & theFolder & "; ls -ld ."
       log fromUnix
display dialog fromUnix giving up after 30
    end run
This applescript program received a file dropped on it.
There is a lot of extra stuff but look at on open dropped_items This line gets a list of files dropped on the applescript. Your have to change the name format.
    on open dropped_items

  • Server folder with lots of files hangs Finder and Terminal

I work remotely from home, and connect to my company's PC network using VPN software and Finder's Go -> Connect to Server...
Pre-Tiger, this worked fine. I could browse remote folders in the Finder, no matter how many files and other folders were contained in these folders...
Ever since I loaded Tiger, when I connect to a server and navigate to a folder with "lots of" files (I don't know what the number is, but I do know that one of the folders that is a problem for me has 130 folders in it), the Finder hangs up and has to be relaunched...
The same goes if I open a Terminal window and "cd" to the same directory... if I do an "ls", it hangs.
I repeat, I never had this problem pre-Tiger, and the folders have not grown in size.
    Please help?
    Thank you!

I think I solved it!!! After trying all sorts of copying from backups etc.... with no good result, I resorted to Cocktail and used the function in the second page called... System, under the Tab called Database 'Rebuild launch services database', though don't tick the box.
This fixed things for me!! Hope it works for you too.

  • No access at all to NDS since server crash

last weekend our single server crashed (NW 6.1, SP2). with a nss rebuld Ive fixed the volume problem, the SYS partition is working again.
but also the NDS database seems to have crashed. its totally unable to login, even as an admin. ive tried DSREPAIR in every possible way, but referring to an "still open database" every repair is aborting.
its like staying outside of the door and just being able to look inside through a window. there is only access to the volume from server console and ip network is working.
is there any possibility to delete nds database and set up a completely new one, to gain access? since it is the only server, there is also no possibility to operate from a second one.
    thanks for help
    regard wolfgang

There is no NW 6.1; did you mean 6.0 or 6.5? In either case SP2 is disastrously out of date and may gave contributed to this problem.
Down the server to Dos and bring it up with server -NDB . Ignore all errros, and when it comes up load dsrepair and try running a local repair with all options set to Yes except "exit automatically on completion". When it finishes accept its fixes and exit dsrepair. Hopefully at that point the database will open; if not it is too corrupt to repair.
At that point, if you have no NDS backup then it's new tree time and you've lost everything in your old tree. Load nwconfig | directory services and do Remove Directory Services from this server. If that fails too, exit nwconfig and load it again withg the -DSREMOVE switch. Do the Remove DS action again, you'll get the same errors but be able to continue. After that completes, exit nwconfig and load it up again with no switch, and do the Add DS action.

Failed to create a user with Mac Mini Server, the message "Failed to process the command writesettings" in the module "servermgr_sharing"

I have a Mac Mini with OS X Server 10.8.5 and Server 2.2.1 and have a problem to share the public folder.
When I enter the Server application to indicate that I want to share the public folder on the network and assign user I get the following message appears
And I can not share the folder.
If I go from my i-mac get mac mini server view and access the public folder, but I can not open any of the files there.
That I can do to fix this?

  • RichTree component hangs (+ server crash) with setDisplayRowKey

    Details:
    JDeveloper + ADF 11.1.1.4.0
    Java 6.0 Update 24
Tested with IE 8 and FF 4
Integrated WebLogic 10.3.4.0 (I haven't tested this on other servers yet, but even so, the server shouldn't crash, see below)
I'll describe my simplified use case here before tackling the real issue:
On a page I have a RichTree component, which is rendered based on certain simple conditions. When these conditions are met, the tree shows up and needs to render its nodes according to specific requirements.
So, suppose we have this fully expanded simple tree, of which each row is clickable (Command(Image)Link) and upon clicking it refreshes the page with the data tied to that row shown on the page (the data is bound to an entity based view object that recursively traverses itself to provide the data):
    * Root
    |- 1
       |- a
          |- x
    |- 2
       |- a
          |- x
             |- p
          |- y
       |- b
    |- 3
       |- aIf I want row 2-a-x to be displayed, then the tree should be rendered as follows (with the specified row 'marked', so that it stands out from other rows):
    * Root
    |- 1
    |- 2
       |- a
          |- x
          |- y
       |- b
    |- 3I've managed this use case by employing the method setDisplayRowKey on the tree and providing the keys of the rows 2, a and x in that order (specifying other rows to be displayed generates a new list of parent keys). The tree renders correctly with the specified row displayed and the rest collapsed, which is good, but everytime it renders, it hangs and says it's retrieving data in a yellow message bar, while the tree is still collapseable and functional. Clicking on one of the rows resolves the hanging issue (the message disappears and the tree is rendered again), but no action is fired. Clicking a row again resumes the normal functioning of the tree and the page refreshes correctly with the new data due to the action bound to that row.
I've also discovered that when I use setActiveRowKey and setRowKey in addition to setDisplayRowKey, the hanging issue does not occur anymore on the first rendering of the tree. When the tree is hidden again, however, and rendered again, then the problem comes back.
It appears that there is some server traffic going on at the end of the rendering of the tree, but I have no clue what it is. Meanwhile, the page itself keeps functioning as it should: navigation works and actions are fired (except the one from the tree itself). When I stop the deployment while this is happening, ADF complains immediately that it has lost connection to the server. If I do not stop the deployment and leave it alone for some time, eventually the server crashes and shuts down with the following message:
    EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION (0xc0000005) at pc=0x000000006dbfe570, pid=4796, tid=1312
It has left behind a fairly big log with information regarding threads and memory mapping. I could try to create a test case, so you can try it out (if I can reproduce it), but before I do that, I'd like to hear if there's anything I can do to resolve this issue. Thanks in advance! For now I'll simply expand everything upon initial display and 'mark' the required row, so that it stands out from the rest of the rows.
Edit: I might point out that when I do not use setDisplayRowKey and expand the tree either manually or automatically (fully) upon initial display, everything is working fine.

Could someone please give me insight into this issue? I've tried again to solve it, but to no avail.

  • JRC bug: apostrophe in string parameter passed to Crystal Report with Command datasource to SQL Server

    Post Author: nl11087
    CA Forum: JAVA
A single quote/apostrophe in string parameter passed to a Crystal Report with Command datasource connecting to a SQL Server database, using sqljdbc driver does not escape the special character correctly. When doing a preview in the Crystal Reports IDE it allows you to escape the input parameter as expected and work correctly, but through the JRC component it fails. For string parameters without special sql server characters I experience no problems at all. When replacing the Command with a direct table there is also no problem.
    Reproduction:
    1. create a database db1, create a table table1 with a String type column col1.
    2. Create new report Report1.rpt, create a connection to above, Add Command using 'SELECT col1, col2, col3 FROM table1 WHERE col1 = '{?Par1}' . Add a parameter field Par1 : String
    3. In your java stand alone application using JRC add the parameter Par1 with a value "Jon Doe's Value" containing a single apostrophe. Export to PDF. (I also tried MSWord and this failed too, similar behavior). Additionally, in another test try to replaceAll("'","''") to escape it, preventing the code to break, but now it does not retrieve the expected row anymore and you end up with an empty report.

  • Hard drive crash? Folder with question mark

Hi everyone! I had problems with my macbook pro (early 2013). Last week, it slowed down suddenly and the laptop heats up during sleep. Then the hard drive recently crashed, at least I thought it crashed after it showed the folder with question mark during startup and did not show my old hard disk drive. Now I bought a 1TB WD mainstream hard drive disk, unfortunately it does not detect it in the internet recovery (disk utility). Now my question is, Do I have to do something with the hard drive first for my laptop to detect it? Like formatting it? The box said that it is compatible with mac OSx Lion, but my internet recovery lets me install Mountain Lion only. Is that the problem? or is the problem internal like the cable that connects the hard drive to the logic board?

That depends on the type of drive you have. If it is a standard external drive (in an enclosure) you can connect the drive with a USB cable.
If it is a bare drive like this:
You will have to put it an enclosure and get a usb cable. External drive enclosure are < $10. They come in two sizes, 2.5" and 3.5". Buy one that's correct for your drive. http://www.amazon.ca/MOGOI-Enclosure-External--Silver-Accessory/dp/B00HC107R6/re f=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1404755872&sr=8-5&keywords=disk+enclosure

  • I have a folder with a question mark and I hear the drive running I think my drive crashed

I have an imac intel duel core   I run OSX  6.8   lately the gear has been hanging up a lot I keep haveing to shut down and force quit and reboot.  yesterday a folder with a question mark showed up.   today nothing shows up but I can hear the hard drive.   I booted up the os dvd for SL and it wont see the hard drive.  only the dvd player and idisk (which I can't use anymore )  I have disconnected my external storages.  I am now on my mac airbook chatting to you.
Do you have any suggestions as to what to do?

Probably a crashed HD. Please carefully read Apple's Flashing question mark appears when you start your Mac article for trouble shooting steps. As  long as you have been backing up the system it's minor inconvenience of replacing the Internal HD and restoring from your backup. If you haven't been backing up then you are about to learn why backing up it's optional it's critical.

  • Macbook crashed : Flashing folder with question mark (noise on hard drive)

My macbook (intel core duo) just crashed a few days ago. This is what it's doing:
The screen displays a a flashing folder with a question mark. I did find an article in apple for that : http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=58042
But the think is, it (macbook) turns off after a while. I did try to boot up with the installation CD, but it can't find my hard drive. So, I thought it must be a hard drive problem. And I could hear that the hard drive makes a noisy sound. So, before I run to bestbuy or futureshop to get a new hard drive, I wanna make sure that it's really the hard drive that went kaput!
I was trying to install the leopard. It just crashed when I went surfing, and editing on iMovie.

I have a MacBook 13" Core 2 Duo, 160GB HHD, 2GB memory. My hard drive appeared to "crash" a few days ago. Whenever I pressed the power button, I would eventually get a grey screen with a folder with a "?" in front of the folder icon. I decided to re-install OS X thinking this would resolve the issue. During the install process, I would eventually get to the point where I am asked which drive to install OS X. The computer didn't recognize the internal hard drive. I do have an external hard drive for backups and the computer did recognized this one (WD MyBook).
I have since bought a new internal hard drive (Seagate 200GB 7200RPM 2.5" Mobile with Shock guard), installed it and went through the process of re-installing OS X. Again, the computer doesn't recognize the new internal hard drive. And again, the external hard drive is recognized.
For the time being I've installed OS X in the external hard drive. But now I have a new internal hard drive but is useless since the computer will not recognize it.
Anyone installed a new internal hard drive and experience the same thing as I have? Anyone with possible solutions or any advice you can offer?
    Thanks.

  • Main Server crashed. Currently using AD that exist in a desktop computer with Sever 2008 R2 Standard installed. Need to copy the AD to the main server. All in same IP range.

    Hi Guys,
Unfortunately the main server crashed and I have re-installed Server 2008 R2 Standard in it. The server had only ADDS, DNS Services and File Services. I have the AD on a desktop computer where Server 2008 R2 Standard is installed. All the user computers

CAN ANYONE HELP ME TO FIX THIS ISSUE OR IS THERE ANY WAYS TO MAKE MY MAIN SERVER UP.!!!

Assuming that you have an additional domain controller on your desktop computer, you will need too SEIZE the FSMO roles to your desktop computer. Then re-install the OS on the old DC and do a Metadata cleanup and then go with promoting
the additional domain controller. These are the tasks which you need to do:
Seize the FSMO roles from your crashed old DC to your desktop computer. Using Ntdsutil.exe to transfer or seize FSMO roles to a domain controller
Do a Metadata cleanup and remove old objects related to your crashed DC.  Clean Up Server Metadata
Re-install OS on your OLD Sever and promote it as additional domain controller to your desktop computer(DC).
Transfer the FSMO roles back to your server which is a clean DC now. How to view and transfer FSMO roles in the graphical user interface
