Server Side XML Class

Hi,
Everything I read in from my XML is of nodeType Element. I am trying to extract  the data. However because the type coming back is of type 1 (Element) I am unable to use nodeValue. What am I doing wrong? I wish to extract the directory and server information.
This is my XML
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<mainlist version="1" xmlns="http://xspf.org/ns/0/">
          <subList>
                    <id>
                              <title></title>
                              <creator></creator>
                              <directory>dir_data_here</directory>
                              <meta rel="server">server_info_here</meta>
                              <meta rel="version">version_here</meta>
          </id>
          </subList>
</mainlist>
This is my code:
     // Create a new XML object.
     var flooring = new XML();
     //load in the external xml data
     flooring.load("data.xml");
     // Set the ignoreWhite property to true (the default value is false).
     flooring.ignoreWhite = true;
     // After loading is complete, trace the XML object.
     flooring.onLoad = function(success) {
          //trace(flooring);
          trace( flooring.childNodes[0].childNodes[0].childNodes[0].parentNode);
          trace( flooring.childNodes[0].childNodes[0].childNodes[0].nodeValue);
          trace( flooring.childNodes[0].childNodes[0].childNodes[0].nodeType);
          trace( flooring.childNodes[0].childNodes[0].childNodes[0].nodeName);
          trace(flooring.childNodes[0].childNodes[0].childNodes[0].toString());

Many thanks.

In fact my actual code was pulling XML from a HTTP server, like the code below.
var flooring = new XML();
flooring.onLoad = function(success) {
     do some stuff
     do some stuff
flooring.load(HTTP_SERVER);
Your comment does not explain why the tags are elements and not text type. It does not matter as I have solved it another way using attributes and I decided to pull in a SMIL file rather than XML.

  • Edit Save Server Side XML [HELP]

    I have an XML that is keeping a few scores. ( 5 entries ).
    I need a Flash interface to be able to edit these nodes and save the XML back to the server.
    Has anyone done anything like this ?  I am open to using PHP with it to make it work.
    Any guidance with this is appreciated.

    Exactly you need a server side language to do it, PHP is good option.
    You need save the scores to a database (using PHP) then load the data from the Data base (using PHP) in a XML format
    To call the PHP files from Flash use URLLoader

  • Server-side xml parsing

    hi.
    when a user submits a form i need my CGI script to run a java program using
    system "java -Dorg.xml.sax.driver=org.apache.xerces.parsers.SAXParser App"
    to do some parsing of the input. the script works fine when i run it at the command line but when i run it from the web browser it doesn't work and the error_log entry says
    java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: org.apache.xerces.parsers.SAXParser
         at org.xml.sax.helpers.XMLReaderFactory.createXMLReader(XMLReaderFactory.java:121)
         at MySAXApp.main(MySAXApp.java:26)
    i think this is due to a security policy preventing the setting of a default parser by the script when it's run by a browser or something...
    how can i fix this?
    thank you in advance.
    L

    probably because two subsequent calls to system affect different images of the runtime environment, therefore the setenv command has no effect for the next call...
    simply put the classpath in your call to Java VM.

  • Issues with server side recording in FMS

    I have FMS installed on Windows XP machine.
    I am recording using the server side Stream class. This
    creates a FLV but when I play it back it does not play though it
    has created the file under the dir in FMS.
    After a lot of research I figured out that the recording is
    done properly but I have to restart my FMS before the play back.
    After which the play back goes on smoothly.
    Can any one help me with this. I need to know if this is a
    known issue or else I have to do something on stream at the the
    server side after recording so that I can play it back immediately.

    **Bump**
    I am having a similar issue. I have an app that will redirect
    the stream to the same application but a different instance. The
    ns.publish method is called for recording and the file will write
    correctly. However, after I stop publishing and go in to play the
    file in flv player, it doesnt play back. Looks like the meta data
    is there but no video. Is there a specific procedure to close off
    the file or something that I'm not performing?

  • How to use server-side classes in a web service proxy client ?

    Greetings,
    I'm using WebLogic 10.3 with Workshop 10.3 on Windows. I generate a Web Service client in Workshop. There are two options in the New->Others->Web Service category: ClientGen Web Service Client and Web Service Client. I've chosen the second one as it's a JAX-WS Web Service and I think that the first one (ClientGen Web Service is to be used with JAX-RPC Web Services. The proxy is generated but, since the Web Service is using POJOs as parameters, a new version of these POJOs is also generated. For example, my Web Service has an operation like: public OrderStatus putOrder (Order), where OrderStatus and Order are application scoped POJOs. The proxy generation process generates a _PortType class which is supposed to be used by the calling client. This class defines an operation public OrderStatus putOrder(Order), but the OrderStatus and Order classes aren't the original ones but the generated ones. The issue is that these generated classes aren't completely equivalent to the original ones, for examples all lists become arrays, the constructors are different, etc. This is extrememly annouying. Is there any option to say to the proxy generation process to keep with the server-side classes ?
    many thanks in advance for any help.

    The only solution to this problem seems to be using dynamic proxies. But it doesn't work neither as the following code:
    Service service = Service.create(new URL("http://localhost:7001/OrderServiceProject/OrderService?WSDL"),
    new QName("http://www.simplex_software.fr/demo/services", "OrderService"));
    OrderService orderService = service.getPort(new QName("http://www.simplex_software.fr/demo/services", "OrderServicePort"), OrderService.class);
    raises the following exception:

  • Server side helpset - duplicate class

    My application running on JBoss throws the following
    HTTP ERROR: 500 duplicate class definition: javax/help/HelpSet$HelpSetParser
    This is for a server side helpset. Can any one help me on solving the issue.
    Also when i run it twice i get the pages I get,
    HTTP ERROR: 500 duplicate class definition: javax/help/JHelpTOCNavigator
    HTTP ERROR: 500 javax.help.NavigatorView.getImageID()Ljavax/help/Map$ID;
    Can any one help on this error.

    First Make a deep look at your code
    - Check that you havent declared the class some where twice.
    Then
    - Check you XML file that it is possible that you have added there your class twice
    Or
    - Your XML file is pointing to more than one location and both locations are having a copy of your class file.

  • Package zzz not found in import (server side classes)

              Hi,
              I'm trying to use the "Web Application" feature in WL 5.10
              (with no service pack). My application contains a couple of
              servlets, a couple of server side classes, and a couple of
              jsp pages.
              I created the WEB-INF\classes directory structure both in
              public_html and in my application's root directory. I
              modified setEnv.bat to contain the two directories in
              ClassPath and compilation of my servlets from the command
              line completes OK (the servlets import a package that sits in
              public_html\WEB-INF\classes).
              However, when I try to import the same package from a jsp
              file, I get the "package zzz not found in import" error
              message. The trace shows that the java compiler invoked
              after the servlet has been generated does not contain
              public_html\WEB-INF\classes in the ClassPath, but contains
              public_html\my_app\WEB-INF\classes.
              How can I specify that the java compiler should look under
              public_html\WEB-INF\classes for server side classes? Is there
              another solution and am I even using the right approach?
              Thanks,

  • Xml parser on O8i server side

    Hi,
    I am having problems using xml parser 2.0.2.0.0 from JSP. In my
    case a simple SQLJ procedure takes a string representation of an
    xml document. DOMParser.parse() method throws an exception with
    the message body of 'null'. Since this is server side java I am
    unable to debug it. Does anyone experienced this or have a cure.
    Thanks a lot,

    If you are attempting to parse a
    document inside 8i which has a
    DTD with a SYSTEM identifier that
    is a URL, this is one case that I
    know can cause a java.lang.SecurityException
    because it is not, by default, allowed
    for any user inside the database to
    open an aribtrary URL or URLConnection.
    In particular, when the Oracle XML Parser
    attempts to read the DTD (even in non-validating
    mode it must read the DTD to see if there
    are default attribute values specified there)
    it will get a security violation.
    If you GRANT JAVASYSPRIV TO YOURUSER it
    works as expected.

    Thanks...as u said I tried putting dir & found that
    my file was saved as Ch1Servlet.java.txt instead for
    Ch1Servlet.java......So that was a problem.Now I'm
    able to compile.Oh, yeah. Notepad will do that to you. I think when you save in Notepad if you put quotes around the name "Whatever.java" then it won't add the .txt.
    But on compiling I'm getting the following error
    package java.servlet.* does not exist
    package java.servlet.http.* does not exist
    package java.io.* does not exist
    Do u the reason for this??? The servlet stuff is java[b]x.servlet. For the io stuff, I don't know, I'd have to see your code. Either you have a typo or a corrupt installation.

  • SSI (Server Side Include)

    Hi folks.
    I have installed J2EE SDK 1.4_03 and I'm interested in using it to develop my personal website locally on my PC. At a later date I wish to upload it to a paid web host.
    The reason I have chosen to run a server rather than just accessing html files directly from my hard-drive is because I would like to utilize SSI (Server Side Include). That's really all. I'm not really interested in doing anything too interactive between the viewer and the server! Not yet anyway.
    I have found various information online but nothing is working. I'm sure there is information that I am missing or something further I need to do to actually initiate it. The information I have found says to un-comment the various section in the file default-web.xml located in this folder c:\Sun\AppServer\domains\domain1\config for this to be activated globally. Below is a copy and pasted chuck of text that I have un-commented within this file..
    Secondly I'm putting my test html pages in the folder C:\Sun\AppServer\domains\domain1\docroot using the include syntax that I have found all over the net such as <!--#ECHO var="DATE_LOCAL" --> & others.
    I can not get the thing to work. I'm guessing there is more to it. For a start... am I putting my html pages in the correct folder for this to work? And Is there something I need to do to activate the ssi servlet? The only reason I'm putting my test pages in this folder is because the page at http://localhost:8080 says that I can overwrite the index file to replace it. Is this the correct place for this?
    Also this class has me thinking... org.apache.catalina.servlets.SsiInvokerServlet Am I suppose to download this separately and put it somewhere? If so where is it? And where do I put it? I am horribly confused and I can not find any further information on this.
    If anyone could help me out on this topic I'd really appreciate it. btw, I'm a beginner in this area... I'd really just like to server html pages with ssi features at this point. Nothing more. The server seems to be working.
    Thanks,
    Tane

    You can always use jsp:include or Apache tiles or something similar. I have not used SSI in a while, but you may want to check out those technologies, as they offer more than simply includes.

  • Server-side error including webservice

    Hi,
    I'm struggling with the webservice functionality on the
    server-side.
    At the top of my main.asc-file I have this line:
    load("webservices/WebServices.asc");
    That puts the following in my administration console:
    "WebServices Loaded successfully."
    However, when someone connects to the media server and it
    tries to initialize and use this webservice using this code:
    MyService = new WebService("uri.to.wsdl.file");
    I get the following error in the administration console:
    Sending error message: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Flash Media
    Server 3\scriptlib\webservices\XMLSchema.asc: line 110:
    ReferenceError: document is not defined
    Failed to execute method (XML.onData).
    I've tried googling it and that gave this result, but the
    solution suggested here didn't work:
    Link
    to other forum
    This is not caused by the webservice itself, since other
    flash and .Net applications can use it without any problems.
    Everything also works just fine when I run everything off my local
    workstation, but as soon as I put the stuff on the server the error
    message appears (and, yes, I've changed all references to the
    webservice to be the one on the server instead of the local
    workstation ;))
    What is causing this? Why do I get an error from Adobe's own
    code?

    Sorry... I take back what I said about it not being the
    webservice. It seemed it was the webservice after all... but not in
    the way you'd think.
    It seems that the webservice handling on server-side AS can't
    handle webmethods that return complex types. I had two methods that
    returned DataTable-objects (.Net-objects). As soon as I removed
    those the webservice calls worked just the way they should again.
    All the webmethods in the webservice now only return primitive
    types.
    This still seems like a bug in Adobe's webservice classes,
    though. A consumer of a webservice should be able to handle complex
    types.
