Servlet must redeploy when SessionBean is redeployed?!?!?

Greetings ... I have a structure like so ..
Browser --> Servlet --> SessionBean
So the servlet is using session beans to accomplish its work. What is annoying me is that every time I change the session bean, I have to redeploy the blasted servlet or I get exceptions. Its driving me nuts. Is there any way around this?
Application Server is JBoss 3.0
Servlet container is Tomcat 4+

.ear your app and deploy that (include the .war with your sevlet)

  • Running Servlet-like code when stopping / redeploying / undeploying apps

    Dear all,
As I have created around 300 background threads to make outgoing HTTP connections.
Some HTTP connections may hold up to 25 seconds before finishing the requests.
When I do application stopping / redeploying / undeploying, those background threads may not have been destroyed.
I want to know are there any mechanism similar to loading servlet on application start-up which is specified in web.xml?
If such mechanism exists, I can run some sort of code to abort all the threads.
    Thanks a lot.

I think this is due to MSAccess, if I remember correctly MSAccess is not multi threading, so when one thread is updating the database, your background thread tries to access it and MSAccess tells you to get lost since its busy.
Try a real database and see if it still gives you this error, or just catch and ignore this exception

  • Automatic ejb redeploy when deploying a webapp

    Hi all,
    I' got a problem with bea 6.1 webapp deploy/redeploy.
When, from console, I upload the war the server undeploy and redeploy an EJB,
then try to deploy the war.
The ejb is used by the webapp and in the war (in WEB-INF/classes) there are the
    EJB interfaces.
    Is this correct ?
The real problem is that I have to deploy on a 2 node cluster. Deploying from
console automatically target the admin server, the EJB fail the redeploy and the
webapp is not deployed on the nodes.
I tryed to undeploy the EJB before deploying the webapp and another EJB (not related
to the webapp, developed here, not from bea) id redeployed ! :|
    Any idea ?
    Thanks
    Lorenzo

    Lorenzo,
Have you considered using an Enterprise Application (EAR) which includes both your web
app and your ejbs? This way you can undeploy and redeploy at the application level and
let the server worry about the deployment order. See:
    http://edocs.bea.com/wls/docs61/programming/packaging.html#1029830
You can turn off the automatic deployment to the admin server. Please read:
    http://edocs.bea.com/wls/docs61/adminguide/appman.html#1029683
    I hope this helps.

    Hello,
I try to execute the command
    psadmin redeploy -u amadmin -f ampassword.txt -p portal1 but i got this error :
Error undeploy portal web applications for instance: khepri-80. Note: If you are in the cluster environment, be sure to specify the portal instance id which is installed on the cluster using the --instance option.I tried with the instance name and the error was just Undeploy failed.

Looks like webserver7 has gone to deployment pending state.
    1. go to Webserver7 admin https:<machine>:8989
    2. click on configuration tab -> click on that particular configuration -> then click on deployment pending link on the right hand side of page. Accept all the default settings on this page.
    Then run redeploy again.

  • Automatic redeployment when debugging

    Hi,
I am trying to debug a JSP using JBoss 3.2.5 with auto-deployment.
I am able to run the application, and set breakpoints in the JSP.
Is it possible to change the code in the JSP and have the changes reflected immediately in the browser? I have to restart JBoss to see the changes.
Should it not be possibele to right-click on the JSP and select "redeploy" ?
I have also tried to select "deploy to.." , but then an empty input box pops up with the target name empty.
    Sincerely
    Vatland

    Hi,
Yes, changing code in JSP reflects at runtime (browser) without the need for restart of JBoss.
What exactly is not working in your case?
And where do you see the "deploy to.." option?
    Thanks

  • Servlet hangs out when web app. first loads

I was trying to prepare a servlet which is loaded when the web application first starts on the server. It was loaded when I try the project but it hung out and the first page on the site had never shown; it seems like it is loading the the first page, but it isn't. What is wrong?

Sorry I am a new comer and confused about the situation. I think you mean applets can directly communicate
with servlets directly. I want to connect two applets each other through sockets and I want the servlet to
provide the connection each other. Is it possible? It sounds like you haven't grasped the way servlets work.
Webapps work through a series of transactions. The browser sends a request to the server which is typically a web URL, but may contain some form data. If the URL is directed to a servlet the server then invokes that servlet's doGet or doPost method which does some processing, sends a response back to the browser and then exits.
The servlet doesn't run continuously. It must either create a response of forward the request to another servlet or JSP and exit without undue delay.
If an applet wants to communicate with a webapp it sends an http request of it's own, which may well be handled by a servlet (probably not the one that created the applet page). It's a separate request.
On the server side separate requests are only connected through "session data". Your servlet can store some data in a Session object which can be retrieved by subsequent transactions from the same browser.

  • "Internet Explorer 6.0 has encountered a problem and must close" when trying to download of Adobe Re

I've used a long time the Adobe Reader 6.0, but lately it could not open in the browser many pdf files written with the new Acrobat applications. Then I tried to download Adobe Reader 8.1.3 from the Adobe site, understanding that Reader 9 still has some bugs, and I got really stuck...
It seems that the root of the problem lies in an Active X add-on for IE (gp.ocx , published by Adobe Systems Incorporated).
After releasing a lot of security limitations on the browser, I've finally got:
"IE has encountered a problem with an add-on and needs to close".
The following add-on was running when this problem occurred:
    File: gp.ocx
    Company Name: Adobe Systs. Inc.
    Description: Adobe DLM
I have verified that this ActX add-on appears as Enabled in the list of IE add-ons, but I could not update it (may be it is old or rough enough to stop IE 6.0 in a XPpro sp 2 environment. An intent to disable it caused another Installation failure. A trial to update it resulted in an announcement that it is not clear where to update it, if any.
Does anyone have any idea how to solve or at least skirt this problem?
I shall more than appreciate it very much !!!
    Thanks in advance!

    Thanks for the reply.
    The problem occurs during installation.
At the first stage, short download installs the GetPlus
DLM (Download Manager). I can see it installed in
Settings --> Control Panel --> Add or Remove Programs.
Then it leaves a shortcut with the Adobe icon in my Desktop
    reading "Resume Adobe Downloads".
    When I press it (shortcut to "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE" AND ALSO TO "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\NOS\nosget_start_manager_15235.html")
the real download of the files should begin.
It just opens the downloading applet and before downloading anything
I am getting this "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem with the said add-on, and must close... Send notification/Do not send (you know)"

  • Oracle XSQL Servlet Parse Error when anchoring a link to an image

I have a database of document links that I wish to portray in a table as graphic images. In other words, each image is a hypertext link to the document.
From my HTML 101 I used to do this as follows:
    <IMG SRC="image.gif">
Note, no </IMG> end tag, but this produces an image that I can click to access that document. Lousy form, but it works.
When I run my XSL with corresponding XSQL file to create the HTML file I get the following Servlet Parse Error:
Oracle XSQL Servlet Page Processor 1.0.1.0 (Production)
    XSQL-006: XSLT stylesheet is not well-formed: ucmDatabase3.xsl
XML parse error at line 66, char 15
End tag does not match start tag 'img'
I then added the </IMG> end tag,
    <IMG SRC="image.gif"> </IMG>
which satisfies the parser, but now I get my graphic image AND the underlined linked text together in the same table cell, which SUCKS...
Is there a way around this madness?
    Thanks for your comments..
    Jon Kotas

Remember that an XSLT stylesheet is, in particular, a well-formed XML document. In a well-formed XML document, you
cannot have an unterminated element like:
      <foo>
<bar>  <!-- This elemenent is not closed correctly -->
</foo>So, in your example, you're running into the problem with
your <IMG> tag, since you have:
      <A>
<IMG src="...">  <!-- This elt is not closed correctly -->
</A>You just need to close the IMG tag by changing the closing > to /> instead, like this:
      <A>
        <IMG src="..."/>  <!-- This elt *IS* closed correctly -->
</A>When it's written out to the browser, you'll see that the
trailing slash will be removed, so the browser will be
    happy, too.

  • Servlet throws IOException when browser is "stopped"

    Hello,
I have a servlet running on the Sun ONE Web server 6.1 that throws this error message: "java.io.IOException: WEB8004: Error flushing the output stream".
Through my testing, it seems as if this is caused by the user pressing the stop button before the output can be completely commited to the client. Strangely enough the error seems to thrown when IE is the browser but not when Firefox is. My guess is that what is happening is the client connection is closed when stop is pressed in IE and the server cannot write to the client anymore so the error is thrown.
I was wondering if anyone has any insight into how to prevent this from getting thrown. I realize that this error is not a major thing and probably doesn't need to be worried about, but it is quite annoying because webmaster gets emailed anytime an exception is thrown so cutting down on pointless exceptions is something we like to do :)
    Thanks in advance.

You could also try hitting the browser's refresh button many times as quickly as possible; it should also give similar errors. Or keep Control-R (reload) pressed down and let the keyboard's auto-repeat do its work.
When the browser is in the process of fetching a page and decides it isn't interested in the page after all, it closes the TCP/IP connection to the server. The server will get an IOException. Nothing you can do about that. Write a catch block that ignores IOException when flushing a web page. Or maybe log "error sending page, the user probably hit the reload button", without the stack trace, into an audit log.

I fixed that and everything was fine. I tried to re-create the problem by moving the call to new InitialContext() back to the ejbCreate() method and it now works.
It looks like that null pointer Exception was making it look like I had a problem earlier in my code.
Anyway, thanks for you help in getting the deployment descriptor right.

  • Must restart when awakes from sleep

brand new 2.8 quad CORE. 10 GB RAM
always when i awaken it a grey curtain comes down and says i must restart the computer. This happens all the time awakening.
    any clues?
    leopard 10.5.2
phsop firefox mail graphic converter launched
    will 10.5.3 fix this?
    thanks

    Test your RAM.
    Try without the Apple RAM.
Make sure it is installed in the proper slots and configuration.
Try with only half of 3rd party memory.
What you see is a kernel panic. There are a number of FAQs to help walk through causes.
Test your circuit and what else is on the circuit, the inrush on wake from sleep could overload a small UPS or if you have too much equipment on same circuit.
There was an EFI firmware update 1.3 to address a wake from sleep issue that would usually result in a restart.
If you used Migration Assistant to import applications from a G5 or earlier, that can result in problems as well.
    Run Apple Hardware Test.
Try with installing Leopard on another drive and see how it goes with just Apple OS and updates.
Remove anything hardware to bring it to stock. Even a faulty USB device or cable can cause k/p.

  • HT201210 on my iPad I get an image of the USB connection and an arrow pointing to the itunes icon for a few seconds then it switches off.  connected  to itunes via USB get a message that itunes has detected an ipad in recovery mode must restore when i do

When I havent got my ipad connected to a power supply I get an image on my ipad of the usb cable with an arrow pointing to a itunes icon and no matter what you try and do iyt stays on that for a few seconds and then switches off the ipad, connecting it through usb into itunes on my PC (XP) this image says on the screen but I get a message on itunes saying itunes has detected an ipad in recovery mode and mneeds to be restored - when I fire off the restore through itunes after a few minutes it comes back and says it cannot restore and give an error message 1603.  I have also repeated the process through my wife's laptop (Vista) and get the same situation -it is an 32GB Ipad 3 purchased last November -  any ideas ?

Try and turn off iPad/iPod and proceed to step 3 of Recovery Mode.
    Recovery Mode
    1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
    2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
3.While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
Note: Data will be lost. You may have to repeat the above many times.
