When using column in bip data model . How do i give filter column telling it has session variable and setting the session variable currency as bind parameter .
Please provide inputs how to use columns containg session variable in bi publisher data model

Hi,
You can use VALUEOF("session_variable_name") in the filter condition in your logical query.

  • Can we use session variables in BI publisher's Data Model SQL Query?

    Hi Experts,
We need to implement Data level security in BI Publisher 11g.
In OBIEE we do so by using session variables, so just wanted to ask if we can use the same session variables in BI Publisher as well
ie can we include the where clause in the Data Models SQL Query like
    Where ORG_ID = @{biServer.variables['NQ_SESSION.INV_ORG']}
Let me know your views on this.
PS: We are implementing EBS r12 security in BI Publisher.
    Thanks

  • BIP 11g: Data Model Editor bug?

In BIP 11g, trying to create a data model with single query with following SQL:
    SELECT to_char(SYSDATE, 'HH24:MI') start_time FROM DUAL
The Create Data Set - SQL window does not like the above SQL. Specifically, the format mask HH24:MI is not recognized and give the error ORA-01756: quoted string not properly terminated.

I am experiencing issues while modifying the BI Publisher data model in Fusion Apps. Here is the summary of issue, Please assist me.
Issue: I have modified the SQL query of Data Set in Data Model, while saving it is prompting for Flex Filed, Parameter Values. I could find the parameter values from default package , but i dont see the Flex Fields values in package. Can you please assist me where can be these Flex Fields are defined in Fusion Apps.

When you go into the Edit Dashboards page, do you see a BI Publisher icon to your left? just drag and drop that into your page and then click on properties to include your BI Publisher report. If you get an error then check(only after doing the above) whether you have these entries in your InstanceConfig.xml

  • BIP 11g: Data Model Editor question

In BIP 11g, when you create a parent query q1 and link it to child query q2, is it possible to refer to column from q1 in the select list of q2? Oracle Reports allows this and I am trying to re-create this Oracle Report to a BIP report and this does not seem to work...i.e.
    q1: select a.col1 col1_q1, a.col2 col2_q1from table_a
    q2: select b.col1, b.col2, round(:col2_q1/b.col3) calc from table_b
while creating q2, the calculation refers to :col2_q1 which is the 2nd column of the parent query q1, BIP asks confirmation to create a bind variable for col2_q1. These type of references are common in Oracle Reports.
Is there any workaround for this?

  • Publish data model with designer

    Hi,
so far I used ERwin for data modelling. ERwin can generate HTML output consisting of the graphical data model plus hyperlinks on the tables. If you click on a table a report pops up with all details, e.g. table and column comments.
I find this very useful to publish the data model.
Is there something similar available with Oracle Designer?
I found this announcement, but no product: http://otn.oracle.com/products/designer/pdf/ROB_Announce.pdf
    Best Regards,
    Jens

If you have any recent release of Designer installed, then you have the ROB automatically installed. Select your Start menu in Windows and then navigate through your menus to the Designer sub menu and you'll see a link for setting up the ROB.
The ROB was made available as part of Designer from March 2003. The lastest release of Designer, viz Designer 10g (9.0.4.4) and the equivalent 9i and 6i releases, all now avialable on OTN, have additional support for the ROB. This offers the ability to save and ERD or Server Model Diagram directly to the ROB.
You do need to add the "hotpost" functionality manually. The ROB help gives a step by step apporach on adding these hotspots. There are a number of demos on the Designer demo page on using the ROB and configuring the App Server to use it. http://otn.oracle.com/products/designer/demos.htm

  • Session variable

I created a period status session variable which i want to use as a filter in answers. This variable takes note of the last closed period (month - YYYYMDD) when the accounting team closes it in their books. I currently have open periods taking the values of the last closed period and so the client wants these open periods to be removed from the report until the period in closed with accounting hence the use of a filter on the period (month) column. I used this filter eg Time."Fiscal Period" <=  VALUEOF(NQ_SESSION."CURR_PER_OPEN") but it is producing this message:
The specified criteria didn't result in any data. This is often caused by applying filters that are too restrictive or that contain incorrect values. Please check your Request Filters and try again. The filters currently being applied are shown below.

    Hi,
    Try it like this..
Set the default using logical SQL. Select <presentation table>.<presentation
    column> from <subject area> where
    <presentation table>.<presentationation column> =
    valueof(NQ_SESSION.<session variable>)

  • Using dashboard prompts to initialize session variables

    hi everyone,
I want to know if it's possible to have a dashboard prompt that is only used to change session variables. This prompt would stay in a tab without any report.
    Can this be done?

when the user changes the variables in the promptI guess its value not the variables ....am i right?
the variables seem to work just in the tab where the prompt is, although the prompt is set to be valid in the dashboard.1 ) Request/Presentation variable scope is in Dashboard or page
    2) As i shown in screen shot in a Dashboard Demo have two pages req variable and multi select when i change the value in prompt it was changing the value in qty variable means initializing the session variable value
The screen shot dat i gave is what are you looking or some thing else??

  • Can I pass parameters from a dashboard via a dashboard prompt and presentation variable to publisher report based on a data model with select statements in OBIEE 11g ?

I have a publisher 11g (v 11.1.1.7)  report with a single parameter. The report is based on a data model not a subject area.  I created a dashboard put a dashboard prompt and link to the report in separate section on the same page.  The dashboard prompt sets a presentation variable named the same as the parameter in the report.
The problem was when I created the dashboard prompt, it forced me to select a subject area which I did (though did not want to) and then I created both a column and variable prompts. But clicking on the
report link completely ignored the value that I thought would be passed in the presentation variable to the report.
Side note :  My report uses a pdf template for its layout where I have mapped the columns names from my data model to the form fields on the pdf form.  I noticed that if I create a publisher report based on a subject area, then I do not have the choice to choose a PDF as a template type for my layout.  (I only see BI Publisher Template as a choice).
I see some documentation online that suggest it could be done in 10g.
    Thanks
    M. Jamal

    Ok,
I just tried that and it still doesn't pass anything to the prompt.
I changed the prompt to an edit field and I made the following weblink but when i click the link from an account it doesn't put anything in the prompt and all data for all accounts is shown.
This is the URL maybe I messed something up...

  • Oracle BI Publisher 11g - Known Data Model Limitations

    Hi
I'm new to BI Publisher 11g. I'm attempting to find out what the known limitations of BI Publisher 11g are.
In particular, I would like to know the maximum number of queries allowed per data model or if a report may be based on multiple data models.
    Scenario:_
My organization requires an electronic reporting book (PDF document) effectively consisting of *40-50* data tables and graphs. Someone has sold the idea to IT and the business that BI Publisher as the tool that deliver this type of functionality. Having used the tool now for the last couple of days, it's starting to look it's not the case.
How do i achieve my ultimate goal of combining disparate report output into 1 huge document?
Do I develop each reporting section as a separate data model/report pairs outputting XML files and then combine all XML files into 1 target document?
If anyone can please give me some advice on how to go about this, it would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Greg

This is related to browser, try it in some other browser.or else check ur bi publisher settings and data source configurations. Mostly his wil happen if u changed some thing in blaf rich plus.css changes

  • 11g bi publisher data model generic columns names for obiee data source?

I'm just trying to figure out if this is a bug, expected behavior or installation problem. When I select an Oracle BI Analysis to add to the data model diagram the column names are not copied over. Instead they are all renamed as Column0-ColumnNN.

  • Numeric data is not displayed in BI Publisher 11g report

    Hi,
    I'm using Oracle BI 11g (11.1.1.6.0).
I'm experiencing a serious issue with numeric data in reports created with Publisher.
When I define the query in the data model, numeric data gets declared as "integer" (even if it should be "double"). Anyway, when creating the layout all data is correctly shown.
The issue emerges when I run the report in interactive mode: numeric data is not displayed at all.
If I run it in HTML mode or other, I get proper results.
I tried to explicitly CAST numeric data in the query to number(21, 6) but I get no different result.
Any help or suggestion is warmly welcome.
    Thanks,
    Cristina

Yes, assuming that you are using the Standalone version, following are some excerpt from user guide.
10g see Oracle® Business Intelligence Publisher
    Report Designer's Guide
    Release 10.1.3.4
    Part No. E12187-01
Chapter 6 Building a Data Template
    Supported Column Types
    CLOB (conditionally supported)
The CLOB must contain text or XML. Data cannot be escaped inside the CLOB column.
    And for 11g see
    Oracle® Fusion Middleware
Data Modeling Guide for Oracle Business Intelligence Publisher
    Release 11g (11.1.1)
    Part No. E18862-01
    Chapter 3 Creating Data Sets
Using Data Stored as a Character Large Object (CLOB) in a Data Model
BI Publisher supports using data stored as a character large object (CLOB) data type in
your data models. This feature enables you to use XML data generated by a separate
process and stored in your database as input to a BI Publisher data model.
Use the Query Builder to retrieve the column in your SQL query, then use the data
model editor to specify how you want the data structured. When the data model is
executed, the data engine can structure the data either as:
    • a plain character set within an XML tag name that can be displayed in a report (for
    example, an Item Description)
    • structured XML
