Set a field label by conditions, in a Search Query

Dear all ADF buddies,
Can I set a field label by conditions? Say: if UserRole=A then Label = A; else Label = B;
The problem is those field labels are not attribute of JSP, they are inside a Search Query. Thus the label text are defined in the table EO, which I cant find any place in JDeveloper to set custom expression.
Any one know how?

Hi Frank, thank you for replying.
Tried to amend the ViewRowImpl.java and added those related functions. It didn't get called while rendering the Search Query fields, but only after.
Any way to do this on the EO side? I think it s more likely that the Search Query dialog is reading label value directly from the EO
I found there are AttributeDefImpl or AttributeHints in the EntityImpl.java. Are there examples to show how to override these classes?

This is a very common question, and generally addressed by core ECM/Governance, where the users will view the name of Content Type and accept that the Name is the name of the content.
In undertaking split testing for multiple clients, I found that an overwhelming number of users easily accepted and preferred that the field was left as Name since the Content Type provided the context (Ex. if the Content Type is named Matter,
implicitly you would not need to repeat by having a field named Matter Name since the user knew that they were providing the name of the Matter).
This is a similiar situation as "Title" for a document. If I upload a document and select the appropriate Content Type such as "Summons", I know that I am providing the title of a summons document.
The challenge is not so much technical, but one of core ECM principles for context. I would flush out your Content Types so that they provide the description (ex. Matter, Summon, Pleading, Memo, etc.) and then the "Name" or "Title" fields do not become
a barrier since the user knows that when they select "Matter" as their Content Type, they are entering the "Name" for that "Matter File".

If you have database 10g, look into function REGEXP_REPLACE. Otherwise you can also try this (you might already know).

CProjects - Set-up field control - Usage of conditions

Hello
In cProjects, in set-up field control it is possible to adjust behavior (display, updatable, mandatory, u2026) field by field.
My questions are:
- Where to find the complete list of conditions available?
- Is any condition is usable everywhere, for example C001 Object is released on a DAG Document (means the object link to this document is released)?
- Is there a condition with a meaning like u201CThe object is in creationu201D (to have for example a phase description not updatable after creation)?
- How to create its own conditions?

I am trying to setup field control to make a bespoke field in a bespoke tab toggle between READ only and Editable.
I have gone through number of posts and the SAP note you mentioned. I have setup the entire configuration required and it is still not working.
What confuses me is that, to setup a field control dynamically, is it all done via configuration?. Is some coding still required in the VIEW methods?. I am setting up a debug breakpoint in the class method that is created for the condition I created, but the program is not stopping there so I think the condition method is not being called.
Please can you give some more details.

How do I set the "custom" in the color field labels?

In Lr 4.1 I have just noticed that as well as red, green, yellow, blue & purple, there is a "Custom" feild too.
How can I configure this, and is there a shortcut I can assign (and also for purple; how do Adobe keep skipping over assigning a shortcut to Purple!!??)

Assign purple: anything at all that worked! e.g. Ctrl - 9 for example, it doesn't matter what the shortcut is, so long as there is one!!
Ado not understand your comment about "The colors are just UI elements for the "Label" metadata field and the set assigns which "Labels" are which colors"

Order value fields by field label in the profitability analysis document

I am displaying a profitability analysis document and I want to order the value fields by their technical name (VV001, VV002, VV003...) instead of in alphabetical order (the system orders them by the field label).

Hello,
Check in KE4M whether sd condition type FKLMG is mapped corresponding value field in COPA.As you are getting the value for other company codes, this setting should be there.
You can also try checking simulation of billing document transfer through KE4ST. Check the details analysis

Can't get field labels to display above for multiple fields in one cell

I've tried searching for how to fix this to no avail. I'm new to Apex and I'm trying to get 5 fields on one line with labels above each: salutation, first name, middle initial, last name and title. I've set New Line and New Field to No for all but the first item. With the labels for each field set to Right, everything displays on one line. With the labels set to Above, fields are displayed on separate lines and I'm not sure why. There are other fields on the form as well but they are each on their own line. Any help would be greatly appreciated. My Apex version is 4.1.1.00.23. I'm running the standalone Apex Listener (current version from 7/12) with a 10g database.

have you tried to set New Field to Yes? If that doesn't work, a test case on apex.oracle.com would be great. That's the easiest way to show you how it works.

Quality Notifications - Setting Required Fields

Is there a way to set certain fields as required for only a subset of Quality Notification Types?? The specific field I want to set is "Required End". I can see where this change would be made and applied on a global level, but do not see a way to only apply this to certain QN types.

QM>Quality notifications>Notification Types-->Define Screen Templates
Select "Field Selection: General Screens"
Click on menu bar button "Influencing"
Double click on notification type
Enter Q3 (or whatever notification type your working with)
From drop down menus select Field Selection > Change<>Display.
Screen should change from display to change mode. Fields should now be available to make changes
Scroll down until you find VIQMEL-LTRMN - Required End
Click on radio button in colum labelled "Req.".
Save.

Thanks. With your help i could able to solve the problem. Let me put this in some
more detail.
When we are pulling the field from a table to table control we need to make sure the fields should have a data elements. After pulling all the fields to a table control ,we need to drag out and delete the current table control column headings and then drop in the (new) I/O fields into their place. I then set the text on these new fields within the PBO. If we try to drop the (new) I/O fields on top of the existing ones with out deleting it won't work.

Reading Field Labels from Lookup Table

I'm trying to read the field labels from the database so I can have one set of reports and have them work in multiple languages by changing the display value. I created a lookup table that has these fields and values: ID    EnglishValue   DisplayValue1    Customer   Cliente2   CustomerNumber    Numero del Clienteetc.   I then created a formula field for each label (@Customer Label, @CustomerNumber Label). The formula just contains the DisplayValue field. Then I used Select Records and added a Where ID=1 or ID=2. The problem is that whatever the last value I put in for the ID applies to each of the different formulas I created. In other words, it reads the labels from the database, but they are all the same. It seems like it should be pretty easy but I'm obviously missing something. Most reports probably have 15 or so labels on them. Thanks for any help!

What I want on the report is 4 fields each one would show a different value. The simplified select statement I'm trying to get for the different fields is something like:Field 1 - Select DisplayValue where ID=1Field 2 - Select DisplayValue where ID=2etc for the other 2 fields.   When a different user has a different language we would just populate the DisplayValue with different data.

Translation of the Field label that is passe in the field catalog on ALV

i there a way to make ALV column field label in different language
let say i have 3 radio button language english , french , and dutch
depending on the radio button selected i want my alv column fields to be display in that language.
note i am using field catalog merge and alv list.
i know that can be done by forcing value in the fieldcat-fieldname
something like that
IF english
fieldcat-fieldname = English
If frence
fieldcat-fieldname = french
if dutch
fieldcat-fieldname = dutch
but suppose i have 50 field then i must do that with all 50 field for each language
i there some more easier way like setting sy-langu or setting language in the fieldcat

Hi newbie82 c,
the easiest way is to use the SAP logon language and have all texts in program defines as text fields. The text fields are translated once and fetched always correct according to logon language.
If you want to switch languages by radiobutton, you may define one create_fieldcat routine for each language.

I need to display the customer text in field label in Layout. Currently field label text is coming from OTR.
OTR PAOC_RCF_UI_SELF_SERVICES/MIDDLE_NAME has text Second Name. My customer wants to display Middle Name instead of Second Name.
How can I fulfill my customer requirement without modyfying WD Component?

U can achieve it by enhancing the component , write a post exit for the wdmodifyview
in that .. for first_time get the UI element and set the text as u want.......
