The order in which the components are added takes precedence.....
You could also sub the abstract class java.awt.FocusTraversalPolicy and take direct control.... :)
myPanel.setFocusTraversalPolicy(myPolicy);...

Setting focus in a PDF form

Hi,
I'm trying to move a cursor to a particular field based on certain conditions using JavaScript. The method I am using is xfa.host.setFocus("fldTest"); in the initialize event. For some reason the focus isn't getting set to fldTest, but when I first hit tab it goes into the first field that is in the tab order. Is there any way around this?

You might want to check the reference path of the field that you want to set focus on.
Ex: xfa.host.setFocus("form1.page1.subform1.TextField1");

Set focus in tabular form

I trigger javascript on a page with a tabular form.
after the javascript fires the page reloads.
I tired setting a dynamic action on page load that

which should set focus to the f02 field of the last record in the tabular form..
but it doesnt work..
any other ideas
I just want the focus to go to the bottom of the page

I want to read the column order of the SharePoint list forms in SharePoint 2003 sites using any of the available web services and need to set the same order
in the newly created list in SharePoint 2010.
I am able to read the fields from SharePoint 2003 and creating the list with same fields in SharePoint 2010, but the column order is not maintaining in
list forms.
Also, I need to created the views from 2003 site to 2010 site.

Setting focus to a menu item in New Form Instance...

Dear All,
Please let me know how to set focus to a menu item in New Form Instance trigger,
so that as the user opens the form control should be with the menu item and not with the First item of Data Block.

To my knowledge you cannot set input focus to a menu item.
Alternatively you could create a push button and put input focus there.

Setting Focus Problems

When using focusManager.setFocus(txtfield) in a module, it appears to loose its focus.
I'm not sure why this is happening, since I am setting focus after the module has been created. The following is the code for my module:

Setting focus to new instance of a field...need help.

I have a flowed form which consists of multiple subforms. I have one subform which is basically one textfield that is set to a min of 1 and a max of 5.
These are to correspond to fields in our system of record that have 5 fields for company long name with a 36 character field limit.
I've got the limits set up just fine and I have added simple script to add a new instance when the user exits the field.
The focus goes to the next field set in the tab order but what I want is the focus set on the new instance of field created but I have not been able to find an example of how to do that.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I've been reading and trying various things but cant get anything to work like I want it to.
The sample provided works for 2 iterations but mine has to do this for up to 5 instances. I have not been able to figure out how to get this to work.
Anyone have any additional suggestions?

How do I set focus to a text field after I click a button that calls a webservice?

I have a web service that returns back a table. In order to show the values in the table I had to check the re-merge Form Data on the Webservice Button. My question is , How do I set focus to a field on the screen after re-merge happens.

I was reading SetFocus documentation and it says
You cannot use setFocus with the form:ready, layout:ready, or initialize events.
What I need is an event like doc:ready or someother event where I can put the set focus code in. doc:ready was triggered when the form first loads which is great and I was able to put my Initial setfocus. When I pressed the button that calls the webservice and thr re-merge happened doc:ready event was not triggered so now I am not sure where to put the set focus.

How to set focus on the title of JTabbedPane

I have created a JTabbedPane and added three JPanels to it. They are titled, say "Panel 1", "Panel 2" and "Panel 3". And each of them contains buttons and text areas. Since this app is for physically disabled users, it must provide navigation through these three tabs with keyboard operations only (i.e. without mouse clicks).
When the title "Panel 1" gets focused, users can go to "Panel 2" by the right arrow key. When Panel 2 is brought up, however, the title "Panel 2" does not get focused. Instead the first button inside panel 2 is focused. In order for users to navigate to 'Panel 3" by the arrow key, the title "Panel 2" has to be focused. How do I set focus on the tab title?
I have tried 'requestFocus()' on Panel 2, but it does not work. Please help me with this issue. Thanks in advance.

Setting tab order in Acrobat 9

This is the first time I'm trying to set the tab order in a PDF created in Acrobat 9. I am used to the previous versions where all you had to do was click through the fields to set their order, Adobe seems to have changed it to be much more cumbersome requiring you to drag the fields in the field list. I can see where this might be useful in certain cases, but I would like to still be able to edit the tab order the older way. For larger more complicated documents, it's just much easier to do it this way for me. Is this impossible in newer versions, or am I missing something?
I tried opening the file in Acrobat 8 on another machine, and the 'Edit Tab Order' command is greyed out for this file, so I'm guessing that editing in 9 must change the file to make it incompatible to edit this way.
If anyone has any insight on a way to easily edit the tab order in version 9, or to allow the file to be edited in version 8, I would be grateful for any assistance.

Yes, I do have the Select Object tool active. (The 'Edit Fields' menu option doesn't show up unless that tool is active)
I have tried to edit the PDF on my Mac and PC, and in both cases, all of the menu options under the 'Edit Fields' menu, including the option to set the tab order, are greyed out.
I did a quick test and copied the fields into a new document, and the menu was available, so I may be able to get this working by opening a new copy of the original PDF and pasting the fields I have set up into that document. I hope this works, because my estimated time that I will spend rearranging the fields is about 25-30 seconds per field which would equate to about 1-1.5 hours of work just to set the Tab Order!! That's compared to about 2-3 minutes or so (at max 5 minutes). With all of the checkboxes, text fields and combo boxes, there are roughly 250 or so fields on this form.

I cannot find any instructions for manually setting tabbing order in Acrobat X Pro. It does not work the same as earlier versions of Acrobat Pro. Any idea as to where I can go for instructions for X Pro?

Back again - set focus

Hi again,
I've been struggling with setting focus on each instance of a field within a repeating subform. My subform is limited to 5 instances. Min of 1.
As the user exits the only textfield in the subform, I have a new instance creating. I want the focus set to the new instance but I have not been able to get anything to work. My latest attempt has been to try to pass a count using the instancemanager to a variable in the setfocus string.
Here is what I have thus far. I know I need to resolve the node but that process is confusing the heck out of me. I've read and re-read everything I've been able to find but I havent been able to wrap my head around that part successfully.
Can anyone point me in the correct direction or suggest a better solutions? TIA!

The addInstance method will return the subform that you want so you only need to do;

How to set focus in text box at server side

I have small problem , i have a text box in form , which is get validated at server side in servlet , if it found some thing wrong then it throws exception , i want that when an exception is thrown it should set focus for that perticular text box. so what should i write to perform such a activity.

Get hold of the element ID in the servlet (and keep the code conventions) and print it out to some Javascript function which does a focus during the onload.

About setting tab order in Acrobat Pro X

I'm really disappointed in the way you changed how I set tab order in Acrobat Pro X. I work with a lot of forms with multiple fields. Some of these forms have up to 100 different fields on one page that need to be in the order I set. In previous versions, I could set this order simply by clicking on the fields in the correct order I want. But with X, I have to drag each field one by one into the correct order. When you have a bunch of fields to set, this is tedious. And, when I click on a field to edit content, more times than not, it changes the tab order, and I'm back to finding it in the panel and dragging it back to it's correct place. This is time consuming. Not to mention when there are more fields than the monitor's height, the fields are scrolled in the panel.
So, please do something to give me the option to set tab order like in previous versions, and once they are set, leave them where they are. Or am I doing something wrong?

You're not doing anything wrong, it really sucks. But things are improved significantly with Acrobat 11. First, there's a preference setting that prevents the automatic reordering that can happen when fields are moved/edited. Second, you are able to select and move multiple fields at a time in the fields panel, which can speed things up considerably. It's still not as efficient as the old method, but at least it has finally been addressed. I think this feature alone is worth the upgrade price for the amount of time it will save and the beneficial effects on stress, blood pressure, and hair loss.
