Thanks for your prompt reply. Well forget about conversion but there should be a way to just password protect any PDF file, correct?
We have a 3rd party tool which does that for our VB6 apps, I am surprised how come Acrobat SDK doesn't expose those Properties/Methods for VB6 model.

Hello, If the pdf file has a doc open password or if printing is disallowed you will not be able to print it using the commandline. Any other pdf can be printed using the same command : cat a.pdf | acroread -toPostScript | lp -d <printer> Regards, Rishi

I had posted this message on thread Re: Want SAPSCRIPT Work orders to be saved as PDF via ADS. but i was adviced to post it here.
I need to know whether a SAPSCRIPT (Work Order) in SAP ECC ABAP can be saved as a PDF form if ADS is installed and Configured?
We have a 3rd party converter installed on users desktop which converts it into PDF so when user goes to IW32 to print WO, they get a print pop-up and they select this 3rd party converter which gives them the option to save it as PDF file.
We need to know (since we have ADS installed/configured), whether it is possible to save this SAPSCRIPT WO to PDF instead of using this 3rd party tool? We dont want people to install the 3rd party converter since we have over 5000 users.
Any help is appreciated.

How to print pdf file in SQL Server Reporting services report using command prompt?

Is there a way to automatically print a SQL Server Reporting services report on command prompt? For eg: We can save a pdf file using rs.exe utility. I want to print a pdf using rs.exe utility. Is it possible? I don't want to install any 3rd party software.

In oracle form, there is oracle command to print the report from command prompt with the help of rwrun.exe

and to save the report we just need to change DESNAME="c:\temp\OC_100001349.pdf" DESTYPE="FILE" in above command instead of DESNAME="testprinter" DESTYPE="PRINTER".
DESNAME and DESTYPE are the input parameters of the respective report.
In SSRS, we can run the file from the command prompt and save it.

But we cannot use same command for printing as you said we need to create another script for printing files.
I have gone through the links but I dont want to use Adobe Acrobat Reader exe for printing because client it may not have Adobe Acrobat Reader on their machine.
Also I want to pass a input parameter as type="Printer" to my report which will print directly for me and same I can acheive in command prompt passing type="Printer" fileName="C:\Users\pujarswa\Desktop\TipsReportLoad.pdf"

I think that product has nothing to do with it. You would use LiveCycle Reader Extensions.

No Data in PDF file in FTP server

I am trying to place a PDF file in FTP server.
Used
CONVERT_OTFSPOOLJOB_2_PDF to convert spool to PDF
SCMS_TEXT_TO_XSTRING
FTP_R3_TO_SERVER to transfer data to FTP.
I am able to see PDF file in FTP and no of pages matches with that of R/3 but there is no data in PDF file.

To get pdf file , you need to set the itcpo-tdgetotf = 'X' and need to pass in the exporting parameter (options in open_form function module ).Then in close_form function module take all the data of otfdata table into an internal table . Then use SX_OBJECT_CONVERT_OTF_PDF function module to convert it to pdf.
I will show with an example.

I have C# desktop app which generates Excel files and our goal is to convert these excel files one at a time into password protected PDF files. We use a 3rd party software currently, but I am challenging myself into saying that I can use Adobe Acrobat 9.0 SDK to achieve what is required .
I have downloaded Acrobat 9.0 SDK and also have Adobe Professional 8.0(trail) in my development machine. Can you firstly tell me if this is possible and secondly what would be required on the client machines to run it?

"Encrypt with Password" is the policy name, not the policy id.
Did you try enumerating the policy object to see how to set it up? I ran this from the console to get the policy details:

That will pop up your list of policies. Choose "Encrypt with Password" and hit Apply, which returned the following:

Of course, all you really need are the policyId, handler and target. Make sure you read and thoroughly understand the security requirements documented in the API reference for this method as well.

Currently as you can see I have commented out GUI_DOWNLOAD Function Module, But it works perfect when I try to Download file to Local Desktop.
But when I try to pass the same Contents to Application server file and then try to open it by downloading file then it opens BLANK pdf file.
As per requirements I should be able to write the file correctly on Application server and If I dowload it from there it should open PDF file correctly.
Let me know if you require further details about the issue.

I am using Acrobat 6.0, and would like to know on how to remove existing password in PDF file.
When I try to open the PDF and saveas file using another name, it would not work.

Password Protected PDF Files in Elementary OS

I have installed Acrobat 9.5.5 on my Elementary OS (Ubuntu base) system but when I try to open a password protected PDF file from my bank Acrobat fails with the error "There was an error opening this document. An updated version of Acrobat is needed in order to open this document.".
The version that I have installed claims to be 9.5.5 04/26/2013.
Has anyone got any pointers?

If a file was encrypted for Acrobat X and later then you do actually need Adobe Reader version 10.x or later. Unfortunately there isn't a version 10.x for UNIX/LINUX. What to do? Use a VM or WINE and load it up that way. If you really are running Acrobat 9.5.5 on Ubuntu via a VM image or WINE then you need to load Adobe Reader 10.x or Adobe Reader 11.x.

Acrobat 8.1 and C# - How can you detect password protected PDF files?

I am modifying our existing C# code that opens PDF files. But when ever we hit a password protected file, we are prompted for a password. This is an automated process, so if we detect a password protected file, we move the file to a manual processing folder to be processed later.
We are using Acrobat 8.1 Standard.

This works great for non-password protected PDF files, but it prompts for a password if the file is password protected. I was looking at the FileOpenEX functionality, but I can not find the reference to bring into my C# project. It looks like it is only for C++, since I could only find C++ examples.

There are no methods in the Acrobat SDK for C# for what you wish to accomplish.

Open pdf file using ms access visual basic 2000 (9.0.2720)

I'm using Acrobat reader to open pdf file using a vb proceedure , how ever I can't get it to open a specific file thats in another file folder.

This used to work when I was using acrobat 5.0,

You should have quotes around a filename that has spaces in it. Older versions were more forgiving for some reason.
Much better anyway is to use ShellExecute, which means you don't have to know or care what PDF reading software is installed and how to run it.
