Set Timestamp in a textfield

Hello
I have a PDF form in which I would like to capture the time user has started on an application. I would like to capture the date and time stamp when the user starts entering in a field. I would like to capture the date and time on the 'Change' event of a field and populate in another text field. This is a stand alone PDF. Appreciate if you could tell me of a date function that could solve this.
Thanks!!

I am using JavaScript on the same field for some other calculations.
With javascript I am using $=Date() functionality but I am not getting the correct date format. Can we force MM/DD/YYYY HH:MM Z format on the Date() function.
the Date() function returns the format 'Day DD MMM YYYYY HH:MM:SS GMT'

  • How to set alignment in a TextField?

    I need to set allignment of the text in a TextField to right. There is no such under TextField.
    Anybody knows how to set alignment in a textfield in javaFX 2.0 ?
    Thanks

    It may be worth filing a feature request jira to get platform native support for this.
    You might think that textField.setStyle("-fx-text-alignment: right;") would work, but it does not.
    I guess that the -fx-text-alignment css property only right aligns multi-line text, not text within a text field.
    The following code uses binding to keep Text in a TextField right aligned.
    The translations place the text visually right and keyboard editing is OK.
    Mouse transparency is enabled because mouse based selections still act as though the text is left aligned.
    So it's not a complete solution.
    public void start(final Stage stage) throws Exception {
      // create a text field.
      final TextField textField = new TextField("This is right aligned text");
      textField.setStyle("-fx-text-alignment: right;");
      textField.setMinWidth(400);
      textField.setMouseTransparent(true);
      // layout the scene.
      final VBox layout = new VBox();
      layout.setStyle("-fx-background-color: cornsilk; -fx-padding: 10; -fx-alignment: center;");
      layout.getChildren().addAll(textField);
      Scene scene = new Scene(layout);
      stage.setScene(scene);
      stage.show();
      // keep the text in the textbox right aligned.
      final Text text = (Text) textField.lookup("Text");
      rightAlign(text, textField);
      textField.textProperty().addListener(new InvalidationListener() {
        @Override public void invalidated(Observable observable) {
          rightAlign(text, textField);
    private void rightAlign(Text text, TextField textField) {
      text.getParent().translateXProperty().bind(textField.widthProperty().subtract(text.xProperty().multiply(2)).subtract(text.getLayoutBounds().getWidth()));
    }

  • Set maximum column for textfield

    in jsf, you can set the maximum column of a textfield size by code llike
    <h:inputText maxlength="15">
    once you type a string of given lengh=15, the cursor cannot move further ie. cannot type more charactes.
    Any similiar one in the swing text components?. have searched and cannot get it. .setColumns(int col); doesnt seems that way.

    Unfortunately not. You could try to use a JFormattedTextField or you inherit from PlainDocument and override insertString()
    BTW: if you post such questions to the [Swing forum|http://forum.java.sun.com/forum.jspa?forumID=57] you might get better/quicker answers

  • How to set max length for TextField ?

    how do i go about setting a max length for a TextField in jdk1.1.8 ?
    a while back there was a topic on this but it was for jdk1.0
    please help

    well if it works in 1.0 it will most likely also work in 1.1.8 if it is depricated you can use the -deprication option during compilation to see what is derpricated and what method i advised to use now.
    there may however be an easyer way in 1.1.8 but i don't know that.
    hope this helps you,

  • Setting dynamic widths for textfields in as3?

    I have 3 textfields. they're in a sprite container. 1. date 2. pipe_mc movieclip 3. title field. I need to set it so that the textfield/mc/textfield;s x property changes dynamically when a shorter or longer date gets added into the field, via XML.
    Here is the code:
    addChild(dateline);
    dateline.addChild(date_txt);
    dateline.addChild(title_txt);
    dateline.addChild(pipe_mc);
    date_txt.x = 3;
    var spacer:Number = 10;
    if (date_txt.textWidth >= 90) {
    pipe_mc.x = date_txt.x + date_txt.width + 18;
    title_txt.x = pipe_mc.x + pipe_mc.width + spacer;
    else if (date_txt.textWidth <= 90) {
    pipe_mc.x = date_txt.x + date_txt.width - 18;
    title_txt.x = pipe_mc.x + pipe_mc.width + spacer;
    pipe_mc.visible = true;
    Any help or suggestions are welcome

    Do you have the textfield set up to be autoSized?  Is there a reason for having three textfields separate rather than combining the text into one textfield with sufficient spacing between the entries?

  • How to set width of a TextField ?

    Hi all,
    I want to use Polish in my javaME code , so I add //#style style_name before calls of constructor TextField.
    The problem is that when I run the application then the textfield is very small in width ! And when I try to enter a value inside then a big textarea is shown in the screen in which I enter the value ; and after that I click the "Ok" command item and I finally return to my form.
    I use a polish.css file to define the style.
    So how to set a width for a TextField ?
    Thank you very much indeed

    never mind. I forgot a line in my layout manager.

    jTextFieldMyTextField.setText("BlaBla"); -> put the string in the TextField

    how i must set the focus?

    Archana1604 wrote:
    You need not use requestFocusInWindow to set the focus for a component. You can simple use requestFocus() inorder to set the focus.Please read the API and don't post bad advice.
    JComponent#requestFocus
    Note that the use of this method is discouraged because its behavior is platform dependent. Instead we recommend the use of requestFocusInWindow(). If you would like more information on focus, see [How to Use the Focus Subsystem|http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/uiswing/misc/focus.html], a section in The Java Tutorial.

  • How to set alignment of the TextField

    What method I shall use to set is the alignment of the TextField to have is Right Aligned?
    Regds
    Jay

    I've found:
    public void setComponentOrientation(ComponentOrientation o)Sets the language-sensitive orientation that is to be used to order the elements or text within this component. Language-sensitive LayoutManager and Component subclasses will use this property to determine how to lay out and draw components.
    At construction time, a component's orientation is set to ComponentOrientation.UNKNOWN, indicating that it has not been specified explicitly. The UNKNOWN orientation behaves the same as ComponentOrientation.LEFT_TO_RIGHT.

  • Setting timestamp

    Hi
    In my MSSQL server I have a table column called timestamp of
    type timestamp.
    In my Coldfusion file, I set a parameter called 'timestamp' =
    Now(), and cfsqltype="CF_SQL_TIMESTAMP" . However, when I tried a
    database query to insert 'timestamp' into SQL, it resulted in the
    following error msg:
    [Macromedia][SQLServer JDBC Driver][SQLServer]Cannot insert
    an explicit value into a timestamp column. Use INSERT with a column
    list to exclude the timestamp column, or insert a DEFAULT into the
    timestamp column.
    Should I be doing something differently? I tried setting type
    to string etc but nothing is working for me and I have spent hours
    on this.
    Thanks

    The error message is very clear as to what the problem is and
    what the
    solution is.
    Timestamp columns can't take values in an insert statement,
    the DB
    populates them automatically.
    I found this out by googling your error message, and the very
    first match
    explains it.
    http://tinyurl.com/d8blyc
    <
    http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&safe=off&q=Cannot+insert+an+explicit+value+into+a+times tamp+column.+Use+INSERT+with+a+column+list+to+exclude+the+timestamp+column%2C+or+insert+a+ DEFAULT+into+the+timestamp+column.+&btnG=Search>
    As does the second match, now that I look at it.
    A good rule of thumb is that the first thing you should do if
    you get
    stumped by an error (if just reading the error message
    doesn't explain it
    ;-), is to google the error message. I find that generally
    the answers
    within the first two pages of results, quite often the first
    result!

  • Issue with setting float point in Textfield

    hi
    i have an issue with float input in a textfield.
    what i want to do is.
    when the user start typing numerics it should accept from right hand side and keep appending value from right hand side.

    1 then it should display as 0.01

    this is not working as desired pls help me.
    can we use this code and get the desired result or is there any other way to do this.
    it is very urgent for me pls help immediately
    thanks in advance

    Hi camickr
    i learned how to format the code now, and u also responded for my testarea problem , iam very much thankful to u, and now i repeat the same problem what i have with a text field.
    actually i have window with a textfield on it and while end user starts entering data in it , it should be have as follows
    when the user start typing numerics it should accept from right hand side and keep appending value from right hand side.
    first the default value should be as 0.00 and as the user starts entering
    then it is as follows
    for ex
    if i want to enter 123.45
    user starts entering
    1 then it should display as 0.01
    2 then it should display as 0.12
    3 then it should display as 1.23
    4 then it should display as 12.34
    5 then it should display as 123.45
    i hope u will give me quick reply because this is very hard time for me.

  • Having problem with setting variable on a textfield

    I'm using createTextField to create a textfield. I have also created a input textfield with a variable called textline1 (I don't create the inputfield with as).
    I want to display the letters in the created textfiled that I'm typing in the input field. So this in my AS coed:
    _root.createTextField("text1",1,100,100,300,100);
    text1.variable = textline1;
    format1 = new TextFormat();
    format1.color = 0xff0000;
    format1.size = 50;
    format1.bullet = false;
    text1.setTextFormat(format1);
    but it doesn't work. So anyone see the problem?
    (sorry for bad english)

    i think you're going to have more problems if you continue using textfield variables.  you should not use them.  just use the text property of the textfield to reference its contents.
    but, if you want to continue, use:
    var tl:MovieClip=this;
    fontsize=20;
    myInputText_txt.onChanged = function(text1:TextField) {
    _root.myText_mc.createTextField("text_txt",1,100,100, 100,100);
    _root.myText_mc.text_txt.variable = tl["text2"];
    text2=text1.text;
    format1 = new TextFormat();
    format1.color = 0xff0000;
    format1.size = fontsize;
    format1.bullet = false;
    text_txt.setTextFormat(format1);

  • How to set cursor type for TextField uses

    Hello, hope someone can help. I'm importing HTML into a
    TextField called "webText_htm". I'm also calling CSS and it is
    working to style the text. Player 8 and ActionScript 2
    When I mouseover the TextField, the cursor changes to the
    I-bar.
    Second problem is that <a href=""> is not signalling
    the Hand Cursor, and does not do anything when I click on it.
    Thanks in advance
    Greg

    shrinktight,
    > Hello, so this is sort of a dumb question; I've become
    > acquainted with the help docs. Is that the best place
    > to look up properties for a class?
    I think so, mainly because it's so easily within reach. I
    tend to fire
    up the ActionScript 2.0 and/or Component Language Reference
    and start there.
    If I can't find what I need, I hit the LiveDocs version
    http://livedocs.macromedia.com/),
    which has developer notes. If I'm still
    stuck, I head to the forums.
    > Is thre a reference somewhere that I can study which
    > explans each property? Where can I find that stuff?
    For 99% percent of it (informal estimate, of course), just
    hit the F1
    key and search. Every object in ActionScript is defined by
    its namesake
    class. Again, properties describe the object's
    characteristics, methods
    describe things the object can do, and events describe things
    the object can
    react to.
    This may help get you started.

  • How to set values of repeatable textfields???

    Hİ everyone,
    I m newbie in javascript coding . As you see I think my questions is simple. I have a form which has two different subform and one of them is flowed subform.and gets all data from a xml such as;
    <Country.>Turkey</Country.>
    <Country.>USA </Country.>
    <Country.>UK </Country.>
    <Country.>Germany </Country.>
    I tried to execute form layout, if there is no country name from the xml  it work for first repeatable textfield but it didn t work for the second repetable textfield and I realized that my coding was wrong because I equalized for just Country.rawValue not for Country[1].rawValue or Country[2].rawValue how I solve the Problem??
    thanks everyone
    if (!form1.Page1.ContactData.ContactAddresses.Address.Data.Country.rawValue){form1.Page1.ContactData.ContactAddresses.Address.Data.Country.presence
    =form1.Page1.ContactData.ContactAddresses.Address.Data.ulke.presence="hidden";}

    Hi StormShark (Gökhan),
    xfa.form.form1.sayfa.TextField1[2].presence =  "invisible"   this notation works fine for FormCalc but when you convert language to JavaScript it wouldn't work. If you need to use JavaScript please try this:
    xfa.resolveNode("xfa.form.form1.sayfa.TextField1[2]").presence = "invisible"
