Setting access for an account to create backups

We are moving from creating backups via stsadm to a vendor backup product. That product runs with its own sa account.
I was asked to add that account to the sharepoint farm admins group and I have done that.
I just am wondering whether that account needs to have site collection admin privleges as well to be able to backup all the site collection data?
If so, how do you handle that? typically a site collect has a primary and a secondary admin. Is there some way to set things up so that this specific sa account doesn't require being one of those 2 roles and still have the permissions needed to backup -
and recover - SP items?
Thanks for your opinions.

check the below technet and compare your account permission with it.

  • Control Feature set access for a supervisor

    Hello,
I have the following case which i need help.
I have a precofigured supervisor on the UCCE, the supervisor can access reporting , login to the CSD , everything is fine.
However i need to add a control feature set access for this supervisor in order to give him access to the AW to configure agent, this is not happening with me, is there a way that i can merge the same user for both supervisor user and a control feature setup user at the same time.
    Thanks.
    Amer

OK, I think I can do this one. In the supervisor When you clear the check box and press save, you see this.
So after this, DCVP\30002 should not exist in the AD. Let me check. Yep - gone.
Now I go to user list tool and create this same guy 30002.
Now checking Domain - yep, 30002 is under the Cisco OU.
    What was the question?

  • Setting access for one user

    Hi,
Our client has ACS server and implemented AAA fro logging into switches and routers through ACS which is being cofigured RADIUS . They are telnet into rotuers and switches from any user but they are want to setting access from only one user . Can someone plz tell me what can i do to solve yhis problem ?

    Hi,
If I understand this right, you have multiple users that can access the routers and switches right now but would like it so only 1 username has access?
If so, you could use NARS (network access restrictions) and deny access to everyone else but the one specific user.
    Just select
    1.Group Setup
2.Select the group which "already has" router switch access, edit the group settings
3.Then scroll down to the "per group defined network access restrictions" Enable it with a checkmark.
    4. Select deny calling/point
    5. AAA client = routers and switches (NDG)
    6. Ports = *
    7. Address = *
    8. Hit enter and the new rule will be added to the window above.
    9. Click submit (not submit and restart until you create the other NAR for the other group)
***Remember that groups that are mapped to and outside group (ldap, AD) will be able to connect to your routers and switches UNLESS to tell the ACS not to. By default the ACS doesn't know not to let USER1 access the routers but not allow USER2.
That being said, you'll need to deny access to your routers and switches (network device group) to all groups that are not allowed to connect to those devices.
Click submit and restart but remember this will stop authenticating users for the time its restarting.
Hope this helps and feel free to ask anymore questions.

  • Unable to set signature for different accounts

I have a client site where all users have an email address at two different accounts, the same two for all users. All users have a signature setup in Outlook for each email account.
For all users except one, when they select the Inbox for account A and select New Email, they get the signature for account A; and when they select the Inbox for account B and select New Email, they get the signature for account B.
But there is one user who gets the signature for account A no matter whether she creates a new email after selecting the Inbox for account A or account B.
I've looked at her signature setup in Options in Outlook and it's set correctly. She has two signatures and each is assigned to the appropriate account and New messages and Replies/forwards are both set to the appropriate account.
I myself have Outlook setup with multiple accounts and each account has its own signature and when I select any particular Inbox and create a new email, the appropriate signature is added.
Any ideas as to why it keeps defaulting to the signature of one account no matter which Inbox she chooses to create a new email from?
    Jonathan

Thanks for your reply. She is using Office 2007. I read what is at the link you provided and unfortunately it wasn't any help.
It says for Outlook 2007 to ensure a signature is set for the default email account. She had a signature set for her original account which is an Exchange one and is the default.
She recently added a second account, which is an IMAP one, and created a signature for it but when she creates an email to be sent out from her new account, the signature in the new email is that of the default account, not the new one, even though Outlook
options is set up correctly so new emails and replies/forwards from the new account are supposed to use its signature.
I tried Outlook in Safe Mode and it was no different.
One other thing is that when she opens the New Mail window there is an Account button right below the Send button. If she changes to the second account, the signature changes and this is how she is sending out email from the second account.
But everyone else in the office does not have to do this. With everyone else, if they first select the Inbox of the second account, then open a New Mail window, the signature is that of the second account. This is how it works on my computer where I have
    multiple accounts.
So for some reason it's like Outlook is not detecting that she has selected the Inbox of the second account before opening New Mail. Or else it does detect it and is still defaulting to the primary account. This is what I'm trying to fix.

  • SDK service using domain user trying to set SPN for computer account

I have a SDK service running under a domain user account, but it tries to register the SPN for the computer account of the machine?!
Therefore I get the following alert:
The System Center Data Access service failed to register an SPN. A domain admin needs to add MSOMSdkSvc/WIN-9IAJC0HS9RJ and MSOMSdkSvc/WIN-9IAJC0HS9RJ.domainxx.local to the servicePrincipalName of CN=WIN-9IAJC0HS9RJ,CN=Computers,DC=domainxx,DC=local
Which makes sense because it has not the permissions to do that.
When I make the domain user account member of domain admins it has the concerning permissions and it indeed registers that SPN to the computer account. But why?? The SPN should be registered to the domain user account instead (and therefore I had given the
domain user account the read/write permissions to itself to do that).
I have the following SPN registered now for the computer and domain user account:
    setspn -l WIN-9IAJC0HS9RJ
    Registered ServicePrincipalNames for CN=WIN-9IAJC0HS9RJ,CN=Computers,DC=domainxx
    DC=local:

            HOST/WIN-9IAJC0HS9RJ
            RestrictedKrbHost/WIN-9IAJC0HS9RJ.domainxx.local
            HOST/WIN-9IAJC0HS9RJ.domainxx.local
    setspn -l domainxx\omdas
    Registered ServicePrincipalNames for CN=OMDAS,CN=Users,DC=domainxx,DC=local:
    none for this account
    I don't get it. Anyone?
    I am using SCOM 2012 R2
    Pls help.
    Thanx in advance.
    Regards
    Chris

SCOM SDK service really tries to set its SPN to the computer account (although the SDK service is running using a domain user account). The alert is no bug!
I know this for sure because I gave the SDK service permission to do it - by making the domain user account member of the domain admins security group - and it indeed sets the SPN on the computer account.
The latter is the actual bug I would say! It should try to set the SPN for the domain user account the sdk service is running with.
Then again, nog having the SPN been set correctly to this domain user account, does not seem to bother SCOM at all indeed. Perhaps it uses NTLM instead in this scenario.
    Can anyone comfirm?

  • Controlling network access for user accounts

Can anyone suggest a way to control airport access to a wireless network?
I have an iMac G4 with AirPort running Tiger that I'd like to set up for a young teen to practice doing some video editing. I'd like to have network access disabled under normal circumstances, but be able to enable it easily during times when there is supervision.
Ideally, I'd like to have the airport icon in the menubar and select a network to join causing a prompt for an administrator password. I can't seem to get anywhere close to that. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

Thank you for your quick response.
    5. Click the checkbox under Require Administrator
    password to:
The two choices I have are:
    - when changing networks
    - when creating a computer-to-computer network
The first almost gets me what I want, there are two problems with this as I see it.
    1. when the computer comes up and automatically logs in, the user is greeted by authentication dialogs. (AirPort trying to connect?) I'd like to configure AirPort not to automatically try to connect and therefore not produce these dialogs.
    2. once approved, the network stays approved until the next reboot. I'd like to not be forced to reboot just to "lock down" the network again.
Any help on those two points?

  • JS set access for all page children (reader 8 compatible & efficient)

    Hi,
unfortunately I have to make sure my JavaScript runs on Acrobat Reader 8.  Therefore I cannot use Page.acces = “readOnly” to set all of the elements on a page as not fillable. It only works in Reader 9.X
My guess is that I HAVE TO get node length of page, use FOR-Loops…  and set every element-access one by one  to “readOnly”.  I have 10 pages with 4 level-hierarchy and something about 100 fields to check.
Is there any other way to set access of all fields in Reader 8? I mean more efficient, without node length and FOR-Loops?

Hi, I am going to look for it. But I fear, it would work the same way I mentioned.
By the way, that piece of code does not work only in initialize-event (reader 8).
SAP does only support reader v8 (=>XFA), as far as I know.
    Thank yo

  • TS3276 Mail set up for Pop accounts

    Hello,
I just purchased my first MacBook Air and am trying to set my POP email account up in Mail.  I can recieve email just fine, but am not able to send email at all.  I have triple checked my entries and they match what I am using on both my PC and my iPhone 5 - which I can send email from both of these.
    I am using OS X 10.9.1 - any suggestions?

Hmmm.  All I can say is check for a fourth time.
POP account as you describe,  but IMAP is the more common for synching accounts between machines.
Try deleting that mail account  on the Mac and renenter all your info as new if you have to.

  • How do I set access 2002 Upsizing Wizard to create clustered-index on SQL 2005

Here is an extract from the Acc2Sql2.doc  >>
    By default, the Upsizing Wizard
transfers all indexes as nonclustered indexes. You can modify the Upsizing
Wizard to transfer the primary key index to a clustered index. To make this
change, start Microsoft Access and open the upsizing wizard library database.
For Microsoft Access 95, the filename is Wzcs.mda. For Microsoft Access 97, the
filename is Wzcs97.mda. When the database is open, click the Modules tab and open the
UT_ModUserConstants module. Search down to the UT_CLUSTERED constant. Change
the default value from False to True.
    <<< end quote
Question: I am using ACCESS 2002 upsize wizard, I searched my computer for *.mda and could not find any wzcs*.mda.  How do I set it so that it creates clustered-index instead of non-clustered-index?

  • Document Access for resource accounts

    Hello,
Anyone know if it is possible to create a shared folder in a resource account and import documents into it?
We want to have an admin account which would be used to hold forms, policies, etc. When its created under a user account and the user moves on we have to recreate the shared folders with documents etc. If it was a resource account we could just change ownership.
    Thanks,
    Tom

    Hello Danita,
So would this be a simple properties change of the "Author"? Or some other attribute from Console One or something.
    Thanks!

That's easy enough to do. Easier if you remember to do it before you delete the
user account (i.e., you can reassign all documents from user1 to user2). But if
you forget there is a routine to run to assign all "orphaned" docs to a
    particular account as well.
