Setting character encoding for the whole app

I have a MySQL base which uses latin1 character set. I don't know which Java uses, but when I print some polish signs it puts ? instead. How do I change the character set for the whole application? Or maybe there is some completely different way?

1. the base I have is capable of storing polish chars - at least when I view it within my visual manager it shows then no problem, so I think it's not that
2. I don't use the console - I use the JTable component to show the data
3. java stores using utf, but the app uses default system encoding - I checked it with:
Charset c = Charset.defaultCharset();
System.out.println(c.displayName());So which solution do you suggest?
And how can I change the encoding the application?

The .js file and the html need to have the same encoding. If
your html uses iso-8859-7, then the .js must also use that. But if
the original text editor created the .js file using utf-8, then
that is what the html needs to use.

How I set character encoding for everypage and alway?

I use Thai window 874 open the page when I select some website it contain Thai then click open new tab it change to western windows 1252. It can not display Thai. I must set character encoding to Thai windows 874 everytime.

Try this:
Prefrences -> Content -> Fonts & Color -> Advanced
At the bottom, choose your Encoding.

In Pages, how can I set a background for the whole document?

I tend to regard Pages as more of a page layout program than a simple word processor, so I use it for stuff containing graphics as well as text. Now I want to put a kind of frame around every page in the document, and I want this frame to be effectively a background for everything else, with it being my responsibility for the remainder of the material to stay in the frame. I can't see any feature that allows this apart from Headers and Footers, and as far as I can see, these are not supposed to occupy the whole page, just the top and bottom.
Can anyone give a good technique for configuring a background in this way?

This forum has helped me to partially answer my own question, in that I see now that I want to create a template with a section master that contains my graphic. But when I tried to do this, the menus for making a graphic (in my case a grouped item) part of a section master just didn't work. I am trying to follow the Help page "Using Master Objects (Repeated Background Images), but so far I can't get the menus to undim.
Can anyone help?

Set character encoding for data template xml output

Hello everyone, in my data template, I have defined the header as
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="WINDOWS-1256"?>
but when output is generated, it is returned as:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
Is there a way for me to force the WINDOWS-1256 encoding in my data template?

bytes then I am using the InputStreamReader to convert
to UTF-8 encoding.Don't you mean "from UTF-8 encoding"? Strings don't have an encoding, bytes can. And do you know that SQL Server produces those bytes encoded in UTF-8, or are you just assuming that?

extension ".xml". When I go and open the file, I get
errors stating that the characters were not

On a related note I would like to ask you a question.
I wrote an app. in 6.0.1 that took advantage of the defer panel updates option (that I learned about from you, thank you). I was very pleased with the effects.
Since then, I have taked the same piece of code and have started to use it in another app that I am developing now in 6.1. I no longer see any performance differences using the defer scheme like I had seen earlier. Are the charts failing to "honor" the deferments in 6.1?
Before you mentioned the table thing (above), I was just thinking that the charts have been updated such that the deferment does not make things any more efficient.
So...
Are the charts just faster now?

Are the charts not honoring...?

MN05: setting the number of printer copies for the whole range of vendors

by t.code MN05 I can set the number of copies of the MM documents printed the FIRST TIME. I can do it for doc.type or vendor.
I can't set the number of printer copies for the whole range of vendors. Should I do it for each one of them?

setting for document type, it doesn't work for all range of vendors.
Setting for document type, in the field "PartF" I've put in "OA". Could it depend on it?
you do for document type and then it will cover all range of vendors.
If you want prints for a specific vendor then set condition recrod for that vendor only.

After posting over 300 questions I would think you would be passed the "New to Java TechnologY" stage.
The answer for Swing applications is yes this can be done.
I don't know how to do it for AWT components.
Since you posted the question in this forum (as oppose to the Swing forum for Swing related problems), I'm assuming this is an AWT related question and therefore I can't help you.

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Delete the problem episodes and redownload.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

Since I had junior developers becoming desperate by this problem I'll post our solution for for anybody that's not working on Websphere and wants to solve this problem.
we seem to have solved it using a servletfilter that inserts this response wrapper:

That's one of the weird things.. it recognizes it maybe 10% of the time. And usually, only after I do the two-button reset. Problem is.. since it won't charge above 2%, anytime I try to do a restore or anything like that using iTunes, my device shuts off and I lose whatever progress I'd made.
So, an update... after reading through a bunch of similar complaints (there are literally 1000's of them so there's NO WAY this isn't somehow ios7 related, thanks a lot APPLE ) I decided to try a restore in recovery mode. After 3 hours and several disconnections... I ended up having to just set it up as a new iPad, as the restore did nothing. Weirdly though... as I was doing the restore in recovery mode.. I noticed I'd gotten up to a 10% charge.. higher than it's been since September, so after setting it up as a new device, I turned it off and plugged it in using the wall charger. 2 hours later and I was up to 38%. Still not great, as my iPad, before ios7 could've fully charged twice in the amount of time it took for me to now get 28% more of a charge. And that's with a fully cleaned out device.. so that really ***** and I'm now more confused than ever.
But I'm gonna leave it overnight charging and see what I come up with tomorrow. Sadly, when I paid $600 for it in February, I never expected to have to play "wait and see" with it...

Setting character encoding in a Writer

Is this possible?
I'm reading from an InputStream (stream from a text file) using an InputStreamReader wrapped in a BufferedReader. I set the character encoding in the InputStreamReader.
Then I read line by line - making some modifications in the text and writing (appending)
each line into a new file (using a FileWriter wrapped in a BufferedWriter).
I can't seem to set the character encoding in any of the Writer.
Firstly, do I need to specify the encoding to 'keep' the correct encoding?
And if so, what writer should I use?

Yes you need to specify the encoding. Use an OutputStreamWriter in much the same way as you used the InputStreamReader.

Try to toggle some of the Boolean gfx.font_rendering prefs on the about:config page to disable some features. 
Filter: gfx
To open the about:config page, type about:config in the location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website. 
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page. 
You can use the Filter bar at to top of the about:config page to locate a pref more easily.

I am only showing pre set calendar entries for the year and lost all other calendar entrie and it will not take any new entries. They show up in my outlook, but not on my iphone, which they did before I updated my software to the new i0s7

Before syncing, select each calendar on your Mac and back it up by going to File>Export>Export. If anything goes missing, you can use these to restore your calendars.
Have you tried simply force closing the calendar app on your iPhone? To do this, double-tap the home button, locate the calendar app, then swipe up on the image above the app icloud to close it and tap the home bottom. Then test your calendar again.
