Setting database information to be used during CR refresh
Hi all,
I am creating a crystal report which has 3 parameters. Two of them are date range parameters and are added to the SQL in the command window (created 2 parameters for them in the command window). The third parameter is a cascading list of values. After saving the report in BO XI R3 repository, I logged onto CMC to navigate to the report and then was able to set the database configuration.
When I access this report through Infoview, the report opens up fine. when I try to modify date parameters, it lets me do that and was able to refresh to get the new information. when i try to modify the third parameter which is a param with cascading list of values it is prompting to provide the db credentials. Is there someway to set these db credentials for the parameters so the db credentials screen doesnt pop up.

on which version of BPC are you running ?
Can you try to make all your SSIS variables upper case, it helped me on earlier versions of BPC.
Be aware too that if you have an instruction like GLOBAL(STR,some_value), BPC will do a string replacement within the MODIFYSCRIPT variable : "STR" -> "some_value".
for example :
GLOBAL(STR,some_value)
TASK(STR TSK,....) will be replaced by TASK(some_value, ....).

Failed to load database information in linux
Hi,
I installed crystal report server 2008 v1 in suse linux 10 (64 bit). I designed report in windows by using crystal report developer edition XI.
When i try to view the report in crystal report server 2008 v1 in suse linux error like "Failed to load database information"
We are using oracle 10g which is running in another linux machine with in the network. We dont insalled oracle client in suse linux 10.
Please help me to resolve this.Hi
First make sure that You have installed/mounted Oracle 10g client on Suse linux machine where you have crystal report server 2008 v1
if you plan to install 64-bit oracle 10g client then in LD_LIBRARY_PATH make sure to point to "lib32", as you need 32-bit lib files to refresh your report

Problem with Policy "Display information about previous logons during user logon"
Hello,
I've a problem with the Policy "Setting Display information about previous logons during user logon".
It is applied correctly on computer, but I can't login anymore and message "Security policies on this computer are set to display information about the last interactive logon. Windows could not retrieve this information. Please contact your network administrator
for assistance" is appearing.
My home test domain has 2008 R2 functionality level since months, and I've raised my company infra level functionality to 2012 this morning. Both domain are making the same error.
This is non-sense, so any idea how to troubleshoot it ? Thanks in advance ! ;-)

You configure last interactive logon through a GPO. You must configure the following setting for the GPO with domain controllers in its scope of management if you want to report last interactive logon information to the directory service:
Computer Configuration| Policies | Administrative Templates | Windows Components | Windows Logon Options | Display information about previous logons during user logon = Enabled
If you want to display last interactive logon information to the user, you must configure this setting for both the GPO with domain controllers in its scope of management as well as any GPO with Windows Server 2008 and Windows Vista client

I'm struggling with the TechNet article you direct us to. We see in the TechNet article that Last Login Notification works ONLY with Server 2008 R2 and Vista. Do we interpret that correctly?
We need it to work with Server 2003, Server 2008, Win7, Win8, Win8.1, Server 2012, et. al.
What is the work around to enable *Last Login Notifications to Users* functionality for these OSs?

If you create a flex 4.5 application that is using xml or php as a database for a desktop, can the same database information be shared using an andriod app? For instance if they enter data on their desktop, and the app is placed on a USB stick could a tablet that uses andriod share the same data that was entered in the desktop?

Failed to load database information in Crystal 2011 using DB2 connection

we have a Problem using Crystal Reports 2011 on SAP SBOP 4.0 SP2 Patch 10.
BI 4.0 Server is running on AIX. The Datasource is an DB2 database a connect from the OS is possible.
The x32 libarys of the DB2 client are availabe because the crystal 2011 reports server is running with 32 bit environment.
While opening / executing the crystal 2011 report the following error occur: "failed to load database information".
I've made a trace of crystal 2011 server with crlog. I found the following:

the Problem has been found by SAP. The Business Objects Server is searching for an env variable called LIBPATH32.
By default this has not been set to the DB2 x32 Libary path by AIX or SBOP setup.
We solved the issue by adding the following (LIBPATH32) into the file .profile
The following three lines have been added by IBM DB2 instance utilities.

Error when setting GPO Display information about previous logon during user logon on Wins 7
We recently try to deploy a GPO on our network (All Server 2008 and Windows 7) to show previous logons during
user logon. The setting is located in Computer Configuration| Policies |
Administrative Templates | Windows Components | Windows Logon Options | Display
information about previous logons during user logon = Enabled. Our domain
level is set to Windows Server 2008. I verified that it is Windows Server 2008
on Domain and Trust.

But after we deploy the setting, we are no longer able to login
to any of our windows 7 machines. All of them got an error message said :

worked on windows server 2008. I was able to login to DC and revise the setting,
so we can log back in the windows 7 machines.

Have we also applied this setting to domain controllers? To make this policy work properly, we also need to apply this setting to domain controllers. If not, users will not be able to log on to the system.

If you follow the steps very carefully and do as each says, this will solve your problem.. Now i am very happy i can actually install iTunes and use it for my iPod.
Remember to be carefully with the steps as the things you will be deleting are very important to your comp.

We have the CPU set to x86 as we are ultimately trying to generate a 32 bit app for XP and Win 7. We only installed the 32 bit run time on this pc because we have no intention of going to 64 bit apps on the clients. Are there additional dlls or something that has to be installed in the same folder as the exe on this development machine.

Scanning the community for "crdb_adoplus_res_en.dll" we got a hot on this issue again:

From the above we found this:
1. the app.exe.config is all in one package which cannot be separated with the EXE file.
2. the supporting component such as dll files, app.exe.config etc CANNOT be combined into the EXE file
Adding the cr3Test.exe.config to the same folder as the cr3Test.exe RESOLVED the problem on Win 7. It also RESOLVED the problem on Server 2012 R2.
We still need to test on Server 2008 R2 but we are hopeful when that time comes.

I am using Crystal Reports Server XI on Linux Server with Oracle Server 10g.
I did install Oracle Client on Report Server and config Oracle SID in tnsnames.ora also. It works well with tnsping command. Then, I published a report which was created in Crystal Reports developer on this server.
When I preview the report on Report Server. I got the following error message:
Error in File Report1: Failed to load database information.
Try to fix the problem I ran web Central Management Console -> Objects ->Report1->Process -> Database and set there the following parameters:
Database driver: Oracle
Server: servers_host_name
Database: (tried both ORACLE_SID and tns_name)
User: oracle_user_name
Password: oracle_pw
It still got the same problem.

Tham.I was having a similar problem in Crystal Reports Server 2008 v1, and had to install the full client to resolve it, which I didn't like. I poked around some, and was able to get the Instant Client working with a few minor changes. Note that I tried it only with the 32-bit Instant Client even though I was on a 64-bit system because that was what SAP recommended when I talked to them.
The changes I had to do was initialize the Oracle environment variables (the instant client doesn't have a script to do this for you) and to create a soft-link which is included in the full client, but not in the instant client.
To setup the environment variables I created a file called env.sh and put it in /opt/crystal/bobje/setup/oracle/, where /opt/crystal was my install path. This ensured that it got called by the /opt/crystal/bobje/setup/env.sh script which runs as part of the System init scripts to initialize the environment. The following is what I put in my file (again for the 32-bit 11g R2 instant client):

We have VS 2008 (V9.0.30729.1 SP1) using .Net 3.5 under Windows Server 2003 R2 Data Center Edition. VS 2008 came with Crystal Reports Version 10.5.3700.0. We developed a little report in a winform to run against Oracle 11gR2 using the OLE DB support in the CR Report Wizard in the VS 2008 IDE. We downloaded CRforVS_13_0_9 and installed it in VS 2013. We moved the project from VS 2008 and opened it under VS 2013. It looks like it converted OK. When we run it we get the following error:

More information: We can step through the wizard in VS 2013 using the standard template and add a report viewer control to the form and point it at the report and run it just fine in the VS 2013 IDE when there is no code in the form1_load event. We feel we have the Oracle.DataAccess.dll for the 11.2.0 client installed and tested correctly on the server and do not feel there is an issue with data base installation. When we add back the code above to the form1_load event and run it we get the error above.
We have the logger set up but nothing gets added to the log files.
We have tried three different ways to set the data source to resolve the error that is occurring at this line of code that is failing but with no luck:
crReportDocument.Database.Tables(0).SetDataSource(DataSet1)
crReportDocument.SetDataSource(DataSet1)
crReportDocument.Database.Tables(0).SetDataSource(DataSet.Tables("edi_filing_source_lov"))
Do you have any other suggestions we could try?

In my experience, the only reason for the error is that the there is an issue with the dataset and as a back up sort of a thing, the report engine is attempting to connect to the database the report was created off of. To test the dataset with the report, see this wiki on how to.

"Failed to load database information" error
I know there are many threads on this error, but none appear to apply to my situation. We distribute CR2008 reports with our C#.NET application, connecting to a SQL Server 2005 db . We have had very few problems with our reports, with the exception of one customer.
The customer has five installations of our software, all on WinXP 32-bit machines, all connecting to the same SQL Server 2005 database, and all pulling their report files from the same shared network location. Four of the five machines can run reports just fine. The fifth machine pops this error on every report:
Exception Source: rptcontrollers.dll
Exception Type: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException
Exception Message: Failed to load database information.

We have done the following:
1. We have uninstalled and re-installed the CR2008 MSI on that machine, with no change.
2. We have confirmed that the machine has full access to the directory where the reports are located.
3. We have confirmed that the machine is set to the same default printer as the working machines, and can print to it.
4. We have confirmed that the app itself has full functionality apart from the reports.
5. We have confirmed that SQL Native Client is installed.
6. The customer is not aware of any other unusual behavior on that machine (though our support tech did note unusually long reboot times).
I'm out of ideas at this point. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd be very appreciative.

We do use merge modules in our install, but we know of no other way to uninstall/re-install Crystal than using the MSI.

No reports work on the one PC, all reports work on the other four.
> Also, the SQLNCLI10.dll is for MS SQL Server 2008 and I doubt it should be used with SQL 2005. Set log on info and use the SQL Native client SQLNCLI.dll driver. Could also be related to that client engine causing the delays.
The code only uses the 2008 DLL if it detects that the db is 2008, otherwise it uses the 2005 dll. We officially support 2005, and include 2005 Express in our install, but we do have a small number of users who are already running their own 2008 instances, so we include this code to support them.

How to restore a single instance database to RAC (10g) using RMAN ?

I have a single instance database configured using file system in a unique server, so now I need to restore this database using RMAN to a new RAC environment with two nodes and ASM also.
Does anyone can help with this documentation or a link about any information about this restore using rman ?
I tryied found on metalink but threres isn´t this specific case. Only how to convert single instance to 10g RAC, but without how to use with rman information.

In essense you are really doing nothing more than restoring a backup on a new host. If you want a blow by blow detail of how to accomplish it take at http://www.oracledistilled.com/oracle-database/restore-database-to-another-host-using-rman
In order to write the files to the ASM Disk groups you will use the SET NEWNAME FOR DATAFILE in your restore script. You will also need to create the ORACLE_BASE/admin/<DBSID> structure on all of node. Once you get the database completely restore you will need to edit the SPFILE to include the proper value for the CLUSTER* parameters and each the node specific parameters. Sorry that it is kind of higher level than what you are probably looking for but the link above and what I put here should get you were want to go.
