     }When user selects nothing, I need to set NULL value for this drop down. Kindly suggest if there is any other way or best practice to do the same.I am using Myfaces 1.2.5 for JSF 1.2. This thing was working fine in Myfaces 1.1.5 for JSF 1.1.Any suggestions?

Give this a try:
<t:selectOneMenu value="#{view.attributes['test']}">
        <f:selectItem itemLabel="-Select-" />
     <f:selectItems value="#{myController.listValues}"/>
</t:selectOneMenu>

          listValues.clear();
          listValues.add(new SelectItem("1", "1");
          listValues.add(new SelectItem("2", "2");
          return listValues;
     }Note: I cleaned up your getListValue() a bit - most of the changes are cosmetic except for removing you '-Select-' selectItem. Also, why do you use a class level variable if you are generating it on each call? Either generate the list on constructor call (or when needed) and just return it from getListValues(), or simply use a local variable.

  • Passing  null values to the attributes of a CAF operation

    Hi,
    In CAF I am trying to fetch data through Web Service. For this I need to pass null value for the attributes of the operation.If I set the value to null it gives me missing parameter as the error.
    Can anyone tell me how to pass null values to the attributes of a CAF operation?

    Hi Xavier,
    Declare the two variables of type if_wd_contex_node for e.g. lv_node and if_wd_context_element for e.g. lv_element. Now in the first one lets say lv_node get the refrence of dynamically created node like:
    lv_node = wd_context->get_child_node('<node name>').
    Then get the refrence of element like:
    lv_element = lv_node->get_element( ). (You can also pass index as parameter check the method API)
    then just set the value of attribute you want like:
    lv_element->set_attribute( exporting name = '<attribute name>' value = '<your value>').

  • How to set default value to user attribute in customized information tab

    Hi Experts,
    we created a custom attribute in Administration-managed custom attributes  and now we are getting that attribute under customized information tab in  user admin->identity management.
    This attribute is coming for all users and it is working fine and I can give value to this attribute also.
    Now the problem is we have more than 10000 users in the portal and we have to assign same value to this custom attribute to all the users.
    Is there any possiblity of setting the value to all the user without coding.
    If it is not possible then how can I proceed for coding.
    any help will be appreciated.
    Raghu

    Hi Michael,
    Yes my data source is LDAP.  This attribute is added in the portal itself and I don't think it is possible to set the value of custom attribute at LDAP.
    Shanta : We already created the custom attribute and it is also appearing in the Customized information
    Problem is we need to set a value to that attribute. This should be same to all the users coming from LDAP.
    My Basis people are asking the funtion module which calls when we click on the Customized information tab.  Is that possible to know?
    Or we can set this value by writing a piece of code in webdynrpo java?
    Appreciate your inputs

  • What is the use of setting null values to Objects?

    What is the use of setting null values to Objects?
    regards,
    namanc

    It's more of a safety trap within java to handle the "programmers are still humans" exception.
    String myname;
    // print what???? Forgot to initialize the name!
    System.out.println(myname);Java will complain about myname not being initialized. It won't when you do this:
    String myname = null;
    // allright, your name is null
    System.out.println(myname);In the second case you are showing to java that you know what you are doing.

  • How to set transient value to persistent attribute at commit in View Object

    Hi
    I'm using JDev11.1.1.2
    I have a transient atttribute X in my View Object and a persistent attribute Y. I want the value of X to be assigned to Y before commit.
    I saw that the entity has a method doDML that is used for this, but the problem is that this transient attribute is in my View Object, not entity object.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Hi
    My transient attribute has a groovy expression assigned. This expression is calculated from other attributes in the view object.
    It seems that the setter method of the transient attribute is not called when the value gets updated through groovy.
    I used a transient attribute that duplicates my persistent attribute because groovy expression on transient attributes are recalculated, and the groovy expression on persistent attributes are not recalculated - they are used only for default values.
    Any other ideas are appreciated!
    Thanks

  • Check for null value of an attribute

    Hi,
    I am reading an attribute using the get_attribute method of the element of a node.
    Depending on whether the value of this attribute is initial or not, I need to do some further processing. But the get_attribute method itself is giving an exception that "Access via null reference is not possible". I first need to check if this is initial (or null) and then proceed. Is there some other way to check this value apart from the get_attribute method??
    Here is the sample code
    IF elem_es_detalhes IS NOT INITIAL.
          DATA:
            item_zzorgas                        LIKE stru_es_detalhes-zzorgas.
    get single attribute
          elem_es_detalhes->get_attribute(
            EXPORTING
              name =  `ZZORGAS`
            IMPORTING
              value = item_zzorgas ).
          wd_comp_controller->setleadselectionorgas( EXPORTING i_value = item_zzorgas ).
        ENDIF.
    > the get_attribute method is throwing an exception that access via null object reference is not possible.
    Please help!!

    Date and Time          04.04.2007 05:54:08
    Short text
    Access via 'NULL' object reference not possible.
    What happened?
    Error in the ABAP Application Program
    The current ABAP program "CL_WDR_CONTEXT_ELEMENT========CP" had to be
    terminated because it has
    come across a statement that unfortunately cannot be executed.
    What can you do?
    Note down which actions and inputs caused the error.
    To process the problem further, contact you SAP system
    administrator.
    Using Transaction ST22 for ABAP Dump Analysis, you can look
    at and manage termination messages, and you can also
    keep them for a long time.
    Error analysis
    You attempted to use a 'NULL' object reference (points to 'nothing')
    access a component (variable: " ").
    An object reference must point to an object (an instance of a class)
    before it can be used to access components.
    Either the reference was never set or it was set to 'NULL' using the
    CLEAR statement.
    How to correct the error
    Probably the only way to eliminate the error is to correct the program.
    If the error occures in a non-modified SAP program, you may be able to
    find an interim solution in an SAP Note.
    If you have access to SAP Notes, carry out a search with the following
    keywords:
    "OBJECTS_OBJREF_NOT_ASSIGNED" " "
    "CL_WDR_CONTEXT_ELEMENT========CP" or "CL_WDR_CONTEXT_ELEMENT========CM006"
    "IF_WD_CONTEXT_ELEMENT~GET_ATTRIBUTE"
    If you cannot solve the problem yourself and want to send an error
    notification to SAP, include the following information:
    1. The description of the current problem (short dump)
    To save the description, choose "System->List->Save->Local File
    (Unconverted)".
    2. Corresponding system log
    Display the system log by calling transaction SM21.
    Restrict the time interval to 10 minutes before and five minutes
    after the short dump. Then choose "System->List->Save->Local File
    (Unconverted)".
    3. If the problem occurs in a problem of your own or a modified SAP
    program: The source code of the program
    In the editor, choose "Utilities->More
    Utilities->Upload/Download->Download".
    4. Details about the conditions under which the error occurred or which
    actions and input led to the error.

  • Setting null values vs Default or initial values in the Database?

    i am working on a system and i have set any field that might optional as Allow Null,, but this is causing me a lot of troubles especially when i am querying the data or perfoming some calculations from the database. So is it valid if i changed all the Allow null field to have initial values an restricting null values to be inserted into them, so example, to set the initial values for an integer to be 0 and string to be empty?

    Hi,
    You can implement business logic on db side or on app side.
    Advantage and disadvantage of implementation business logic on DB side.
    Advantages:
    1.Don't require app server software version changes/compilations (Java, C, C++, C#...)
    2.Stored procedures are stored directly in the db.
    3.DBA can manage and optimize the stored procedures in flexible way; it'll be transparent for app server because the same remaining interface.
    4.Avoidance of network traffic - the stored procedures can run directly within DB engine.
    5.Encapsulation of business logic as API in the database.
    6.Reports can be implemented like PL/SQL functions that return table data type. The functions can be called from application side - sort of API.
    Disadvantages:
    1.DB vendor specific, but when dealing with the same databases (for example Oracle) it's not relevant.
    2.Require DB skills to write the procedures correctly: it will require time for a pure java/c/c++/c# programmer to understand the DB code and to write it in optimal (from db point of view) way.
    3.If it's too complex business logic - the db side implementation can become too complex.
    To overcome issue with null(s) please use NVL function.
    Example:
    drop table  TEST_TABLE;
    create table TEST_TABLE(parameter varchar2(20), val number(10, 2));
    insert into TEST_TABLE values ('A', 23.245);
    insert into TEST_TABLE values ('B', null);
    insert into TEST_TABLE values ('C', 123);
    insert into TEST_TABLE values ('D', null);
    select avg(nvl(val, 0)) from TEST_TABLE;Hope this will help.

  • Can af:selectOneRadio initial selection be set to values from view object?

    Using JDeveloper 11.1.1.4
    Hi all. I have a selectOneRadio on a data entry page which works well. Now I want to (if possible) use the selectOneRadio on an edit page--setting the choice initially to the values that were stored in a database table's record (from the data entry page). I am able to retrieve the data selected in the data entry page, but I can't find anything referencing what I want to do on the edit page. Note that my selectOneRadio objects are actually on jsff's in a region on a page. I've supplied how I designed selectOneRadio on the data entry page in hopes that someone can gleen from it and tell me how to set one up on the edit page and set its initial value to the value combination stored.
    There are two columns in the data displayed (example):
    Short Format / Text
    Short Format / Comma Delimited
    Long Format / Text
            <af:selectOneRadio value="#{bindings.Pay_File_Data_FmtVO1.inputValue}"
                               shortDesc="#{bindings.Pay_File_Data_FmtVO1.hints.tooltip}" id="sor1"
                               inlineStyle="text-align:left; font-size:2.0em;"
                               autoSubmit="true" showRequired="false" label="File Format">
              <f:selectItems value="#{bindings.Pay_File_Data_FmtVO1.items}" id="si111"/>
            </af:selectOneRadio>
    public class FileTypesBean {
        String fileFormat = null;
        String dataFormat = null;
        public BindingContainer getBindings() {
            return BindingContext.getCurrent().getCurrentBindingsEntry();
        public void getFileTypesSelection(ActionEvent actionEvent) {
            fileFormat =
                    (String)resolveExpression("#{bindings.Pay_File_Data_FmtVO1.attributeValue}");
            dataFormat =
                    (String)resolveExpression("#{bindings.Pay_File_Data_FmtVO1.attributeValues[1]}");
            //System.out.println("dataFormat = " + dataFormat);
            // now put in ParamsBean for use
            AdfFacesContext afci = AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
            ParamsBean params =(ParamsBean)afci.getPageFlowScope().get("paramsBean") ;
            params.setFileTypeParam(fileFormat);
            params.setFileDataTypeParam(dataFormat);
        public Object resolveExpression(String el) {
            FacesContext facesContext = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
            ELContext elContext = facesContext.getELContext();
            ExpressionFactory expressionFactory =
                facesContext.getApplication().getExpressionFactory();
            ValueExpression valueExp =
                expressionFactory.createValueExpression(elContext, el,
                                                        Object.class);
            return valueExp.getValue(elContext);
    }Thanks in advance,

    in the amimpl have an edit method, get the value you want to set and set that value for your af:selectOneRadio, row.setAttribute(PayFileDataFmtVO1, value);

  • How to set null value for a date column using database adapter

    Hello,
    I have a table wih 3 columns
    (id NUMBER,
    modified_on DATE
    contentText VARCHAR2)
    I have a row wih theses values (1, 20/03/2010 16:30, 'coucou')
    I want use a DB adapter in a BPEL process to change the value of column modified_on to (null). I'm using the out-of-he box "update" method (no custom sql, nieher "insert or update (merge)" method)
    - If I only set values of "Id" and "contentText" -> insert is done but I missed the modification of "modified_on" to (null)
    - If I set all values and use expression '' (2 single quote without any space) for modified_on I got an error on update
    BWriteInteractionSpec Execute Failed Exception.
    update failed. Descriptor name: [DBUTFORM.TForm]. [Caused by: String index out of range: 10]

    Thanks for help

    its my personal need..then it is a very bad personal need. DATE is not an appropriate type to be using for a primary key, as it cannot be guaranteed to be unique, especially when inserting multiple rows at once.
    You would be better working to business needs and implementing correct technical solutions to those needs, than to just do things based on your personal needs.

  • Set new value for VO attribut

    I have function in package on database which is param is String and return value is also String(VARCHAR2).
    That function calculate some field on db and return a result.That is OK
    I made VO in my AM.
    "SELECT package_name.func_name("string") from dual" and that is OK also.
    When I start that module I recive valid result from database based on string which I passed to function.
    And that works fine.
    Question :
    How can I change value or how can I set new value for the package_name.func_name(variable) in VO

    How can I change value or how can I set new value for the package_name.func_name(variable) in VO
    during runtime in my application ? ^^^^^^^^
    JDeveloper 9.0.3.988 1. When using stored procedures it would be better to use it in following way:
    Connection conn = //get it some how
    CallableStatement cs = conn.prepareCall("{call myPackage.do_something(?)}");
    cs.registerOutParameter(1, java.sql.Types.VARCHAR);
    cs.execute();
    2. You could parameterize it like this:
    CallableStatement cs = conn.prepareCall("{call " + packageName "." + funcName + "(?)}");
    cs.registerOutParameter(1, java.sql.Types.VARCHAR);
    cs.setString(1,"someString");
    cs.execute();
    String result = cs.getString(1);
    where packageName and funcName are defined elsewhere

  • Passing value of View Attribute from standard page to custom page

    Hi everyone,
    I have a custom page which needs to be called from a standard page. Now this custom page is based on some parameters whose value will depend on the dynamic selection by user. So how to get the currently executed value from VO.
    For ex: Vendor Id , contact id and site Id all are to be fetched which are present in three different VOs. When user select particular vendor, contact and site these values will change accordind to selection.
    Here do I need to extend the controller and application module of the standard page or it can be done by passing parameters in destination URI of submit button.
    I tried using parameters in destination URI of submit button as {VO.ViewAttributeName} and printing in custom page but it was printing " {VO.ViewAttributeName}" as it is.
    Please help..
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Meher,
    I tried doing it by destination uri but it was not taking the value.
    I tried CO extension with the following code in my extended CO :
    public class ExtendedByrCntDirCO extends ByrCntctDirCO
    public void processRequest(OAPageContext pageContext, OAWebBean webBean)
    super.processRequest(pageContext, webBean);
    /* I WANT TO CREATE TEH SUBMIT BUTTON PROGRAMATICALLY */
    OASubmitButtonBean oasb= (OASubmitButtonBean)pageContext.getWebBeanFactory().createWebBean(pageContext,"BUTTON_SUBMIT");
    oasb.setID("SubmitBtn");
    oasb.setUINodeName("SubmitBtn");
    oasb.setEvent("xxSubmitButton");
    oasb.setText("Submit");
    webBean.addIndexedChild(oasb);
    public void processFormRequest(OAPageContext pageContext, OAWebBean webBean)
    super.processFormRequest(pageContext, webBean);
    String url = "OA.jsp?page=/oracle/apps/aeap/Vendors/webui/VendorContactsPG";
    OAApplicationModule am =
    (OAApplicationModule)pageContext.getApplicationModule(webBean);
    OAViewObject VendorsVO = (OAViewObject)am.findViewObject("VendorsVO1"); // To retrive the attribute of a particular VO
    Number VendorId = (Number)VendorsVO.getCurrentRow().getAttribute("VendorId"); *// But here its showing null pointer exception*
    HashMap params = new HashMap(1);
    params.put("VendorId", VendorId);
    String strEvent= pageContext.getParameter(EVENT_PARAM) ;
    if ( strEvent.equals("xxSubmitButton"))
    pageContext.setForwardURL(url,
    null,
    OAWebBeanConstants.KEEP_MENU_CONTEXT,
    null,
    params,
    true,
    OAWebBeanConstants.ADD_BREAD_CRUMB_NO,
    OAWebBeanConstants.IGNORE_MESSAGES);
    So how can I retrive the value from VO . Is there any another way . Plz help...

  • Self-referential attribute: how to set the value if it is NULL/unknown

    Hi,
    I am getting the following error while doing Logical Loop Check:
    self-referential attribute: b5@Rules_test_doc
    number of rules in this loop: 3
    number of attributes in loop chain: 3
    number of relationships in loop chain: 0
    The rule engine will be seeded with information from a database.
    My requirement is to set a value to the attribute (X) = "ABC" if (X) is null and (Y) is 0
    ( in 10.4 NULL is represented by unknown)

    You would have to have an intermediate field here to achieve this. It definitely is a logical loop in OPA terms, since you are trying to use X to prove X.
    To solve it you would need to do:
    attribute (X) = "ABC" if (X_input) is null and (Y) is 0
    Or for a "real" example:
    the person's processing office:
    "london" | the person's provided procesing office is currently unknown
    the person's provided procesing office | otherwise
    So if no processing office has been provided by the database, (i.e. "null") it effectively defaults to London.
    You could then use "the person's processing office" as normal throughout the rules, confident that it should never be unknown.
    Cheers,
    Ben

  • Help to set value of an attribute based on value selected in another field

    Hi all,
    I want to set the value of an attribute STRUCT.ITM_TYPE to a default value whenever i select one of the value from dropdown list in LC_STATUS.
    I tried to add an event in the get_p method of the lc_status but there i cant able to access the context of the ITM_TYPE as the fields are in different views.
    Please Help,

    Hi Vineet,
    Thanks for the suggestion.
    Please chech my code and suggest me for any corrections.
    In the Get_P_LCSTATUS method of Context Node BTADMINH in View1.
    METHOD GET_P_LCSTATUS.
      CASE iv_property.
        WHEN if_bsp_wd_model_setter_getter=>fp_fieldtype.
          rv_value = cl_bsp_dlc_view_descriptor=>field_type_picklist.
        WHEN if_bsp_wd_model_setter_getter=>fp_server_event.
          rv_value = 'ACT_STATUS_SELECTED'.
      ENDCASE.
    ENDMETHOD.
    In event handler method in Context Node BTADMINI in View2
    method EH_ONACT_STATUS_SELECTED.
    * Added by wizard: Handler for event 'ACT_STATUS_SELECTED'
    data: lr_ent1 type ref to cl_crm_bol_entity,
             lr_ent2 type ref to cl_crm_bol_entity.
    lr_ent1 = me->typed_context->BTADMINH->collection_wrapper->get_current( ).
    check lr_ent1 is bound.
    * To Get Value of First Attribute
    lv_attr1 = lr_ent1->get_property_as_string( 'LC_STATUS' ).
    * To Set Value of 2nd Input Field now based upon this value
    lr_ent2 = me->typed_context->BTADMINI->collection_wrapper->get_current( ).
    *lr_ent2->lock( ).
    lr_ent2->set_property_as_string( iv_attr_name = 'ITM.TYPE'  iv_value = 'RREQ' ).
    endif.
    endmethod.
    but during syntax check its showing error messge as BTADMINH is unknown.
    2) How and where to bind the context node in custom controller.
    Please help.
