Setting security for deployment and connections to SSAS

I've read that SSAS does not offer mixed mode security option as SQL Server does. Does this mean that every user/client desiring to connect via OLE DB must have a domain account? How does one get around this?
Also what is the tool used to administer SSAS security. There is no option for these in SQL Server Management Studio 2014. I am developing cubes via the BI plug-in for Visual Studio 2012 but I am unable to deploy the .asdatabase packages due to security
problems. I would appreciate if someone could point me to a good article on SSAS configuration/security. If I could just know the tool to invoke or PowerShell commands I would be good to go.
Thanks

Hi Rmz,
Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services relies on Microsoft Windows to authenticate users. By default, only authenticated users who have rights within Analysis Services can establish a connection to Analysis Services. Which no mean that you need
a domain account to access SSAS database. You can access to the cube using a local window user. This authentication model requires that all users be authenticated by the Windows operating system before they can access data. This the default setting on
SSAS currently. Here is a article about Secure Deployment (Analysis Services - Multidimensional Data), please see

    So we just got a new Macbook and I also installed the apple configurator tool. I'm using it to prepare the iPads for deployment and it won't let me prepare them? It gets an error stating "retrieving iOS info from apple" then it stops and says "internet error". My Internet connection is fine with the Mac-book. It shows the iPad is listed under the Prepare logo up top as 1 but under supervise none are shown. Although it does show itself in iTunes. Also the profile I created is fresh and has no errors. We have tryed nearly everything I cna think of and online forums are not giving us to much info on this error.

    A wag at this.  A port issue?

    Try it on your home network where there isn't a lot of 'controls' -- network filtering , firewalls, etc.

    There is no such Trojan or other malware known today that will do that using OS X nor has there ever been one. The most probable explanation is that somebody hacked into your e-mail account on the server, so you should change that password to something stronger right away. If it had come from your Mac then there would almost certainly be copies of those messages in your Sent Mail mailbox.

  • How to set value for trim and bleed using jsx script?

    I have tried using bleedoffsetRect but somehow it is not working. Can anybody please help me on how to set value for trim and bleed using jsx script? Any example will be highly appreciated.
    Following is the code I am trying with:
    var _saveName = new File ( root_path +_strFileName+".pdf");
        var _saveOpts = new PDFSaveOptions();
        _saveOpts.printerResolution = 300;
        var bleedarray = new Array();
         bleedarray[0] =9.00;
         bleedarray[1]=9.00;
         bleedarray[2]=9.00;
         bleedarray[3]=9.00;
        _saveOpts.bleedOffsetRect = bleedarray;

    I would expect although I've not actually tried this for the bleed off set box to be larger than the artbaord and the first two values to be negative or 0…
    var bleedarray = new Array(-9,-9,artboard.width+9,artboard.height+9);
    Where 'artboard.width' & 'artboard.height' you will have calculated from your file. An Array(9,9,9,9); would not constitute any boxes bounds.

  • Volumes and Qtrees set up for SAP and Oracle

    Hi Gurus
    I Need your help Please
    I need to get Volumes and Qtrees set up for SAP and Oracle.
    I found a document from NetApp that helped a lot about the structure.
    But what I donu2019t know and canu2019t find anywhere is sizing for the volumes and Qtrees.
    I really need some guidelines on sizing these below:
    FlexVol saplog
    /usr/sap/SID
    /usr/sap/trans
    /sapmnt/SID
    /home/SIDadm
    /oracle/SID
    /oracle/SID/origlogA
    /oracle/SID/origlogB
    /oracle/SID/oraarch
    /oracle/SID/sapreorg
    /oracle/SID/sapbackup
    /oracle/SID/saparch
    FlexVol sapdata
    /oracle/SID/sapdata1
    /oracle/SID/sapdata2
    /oracle/SID/sapdataN
    FlexVol mirrlogs
    /oracle/SID/mirrlogA
    /oracle/SID/mirrlogB
    Thanks and appreciate your help

    > I have gone through the Inst Guide and I was surprised to see only 50 MB for Oracle software directory ?
    Where did you read that?
    > The sizing given in Installation guide is for typical setup or do we need to size as per our requirement ?
    The sizing give there is for the initial system setup. It does not contain customer specific requirements.
    The usual process is:
    - you contact your hardware vendor
    - you use http://service.sap.com/quicksizer together with him and fill in the data
    - the hardware vendor will offer you the storage and the machines for the setup
    - the vendor configures with you the storage and the necessary filesystem layout based on that sizing
    Each customers setup is different and requires the experience and knowledge from the respective hardware vendor how to set up the system so it performs well.
    You can follow the suggestions given here, this will be enough for the initial setup but the system will grow. This is not taken into account in the installation guide because it's customer specific.

  • Security for SOA and Web Services

    Dipak Chopra's 09 Dec 04 "Security for SOA and Web Services" piece has been a terrific starter for me as I start to delve into this topic. Does SAP/the SDN plan to publish an SAP-specific roadmap to show the adherence to and adoption of these standards in NetWeaver? (Or maybe there is such a published roadmap that I am unaware of?)

    Hi Randy
    SAP follows and participates in Security and other Web services standards very closely as we recognize the opportunity they present our customers for developing solutions and integrating systems faster at lower cost.
    However many of the standards are still in development and so are not quite yet ready for "prime time". This means that we can't really publish a "road map" as it would be continually changing. However, if you want an idea on which standards SAP thinks are important, please take a look at this presentation [1] which was delivered at the last Tech Ed.

  • Where is the doc for xml task options for deploy and ojdeploy-build ?

    I am a new user.
    I tried using jdev help to find my answer, but got lost quickly in the zillions of manuals.
    1) Where is the manual/doc for the xml task attributes/options for the Ant tags <deploy> and <ojdeploy-build>?
    I am modifying an xml script that ojdeploy will call, but do not know what attributes/options are supported for these tags. I need to know whether an option such as failonerror exists, so that I can report a bug that <deploy> does not default to fail on error (or that <ojdeploy-build> ignores the error and continues with the script.
    Followup questions:
    2) How do I find the java code that implements the tags <deploy> and <ojdeploy-build>?
    3) How do I report a bug on the implementation for these tags and propose a fix (assuming I can see the java source code)?

    I guess I wasn't clear enough. What I tried to say was:
    1) Where is the manual/doc for the xml task attributes/options [I meant to say attributes/elements] for the Ant tags [I meant to say tasks] <deploy> and <ojdeploy-build>?
    I did not mean the ojdeploy command, but the Ant tasks <ojdeploy-build> and <deploy>.
    The jdev help does not seem to provide the complete list of elements or attributes for these critical Ant tasks, though it has a few examples.
    So far, it appears that <deploy> has been misdesigned and I cannot do what I want, which is to "failonerror" (failonerror="true" should be the default but the opposite is true and there is no attribute to change the setting).
    You could consider this to be a bad flaw in Ant itself, that you cannot get the exit code from every Ant task (since they are java programs they do have an exit code), so when new tasks are implemented by folks who lack experience they may leave out access to this programming feature that is however implemented for a bunch of important core Ant tasks such as "java" or "exec". It would have been far more useful to make this a generic feature of all Ant tasks. Of course then folks would be asking for stuff like "fail if" or "fail unless" and where would it end? Maybe with a real programming language like TCL but in XML form.

  • Home set-up for MBA and Apple TV - advice please

    Hi,
    I have a Macbook Air, Apple TV and an iPhone 4S. However, most of my media (music and films) is still stored on my old windows laptop, due mainly to lack of storage space on my MBA.
    I would quite like to have persistent storage hooked up to my Apple TV, from which I could watch films or transfer them onto my mobile devices as and when necessary.
    My question is, what is the best way to achieve this, some people have suggested using a time capsule as a kind of external hard drive, or alternatively getting a Mac mini and have it permanently turned on and connected to the Apple TV.
    What is the general consensus as to which approach would be best (and most value for money, and easiest for an apple novice to set-up)?
    Many thanks in advance
    Scott

    I have an AppleTV connected to my home theatre. The hardest part of setting it up and configuring it was unplugging all the compenents from the surge protector to replace it with one that had more outlets! With taken care of, I turned on the TV, saw the AppleTV screen, tried out the remote, and went downstairs to my computer that has my music and movie collection.
    I set iTunes to launch automatically when my computer starts up and set the energy saver control panel to start my iMac and shut it down automatically at specific times. To stream music to the TV the computer has to be running. Finally, in iTunes I turned on iTunes sharing.  Back upstairs I checked out the AppleTV and it already had found my computer and my music was there. That simple.
    Since I originally set it up, Apple has introduced iTunes Matching, a service that puts your music collection (or at least 25,000 songs of it) in the cloud. My wife and I had good reason to be interested int that service and for the AppleTV it has an added benefit. The ATV can stream music from the iTunes cloud - that means my computer doesn't need to be running during the day for me to share music.

  • Exchange security evtx files and connection events

    Does anyone know if the security .evtx files on the exchange mb database servers (2010) would store information about connections from client software (i.e. Outlook). trying to determine a way to see when a connection was made by a specific user (windows
    7 PC accessing exchange via outlook 2010), and subsequently closed (i.e when they shut outlook on their PC). Have some logs from the server on the day but they are a bit overwhelming, any ideas on specific event ID's to filter the masses of data down to connections.
    There are several hundred mailboxes on this DB server so its going to be a nightmare to analyze.

    Hello,
    Clients' connectivity logging is not maintained by Security Event Log files. To configure client connectivity you should configure:
    1. For RPC connectivity: http://theucguy.net/rpc-client-access-logging-in-exchange/.
    2. For OWA connections: check %SystemDrive%\inetpub\logs\LogFiles directory.
    Hope it helps,

    If you mean to have both simultaneosly set on the same OS session, of course that's not possible. But you can configure them on your profile, and choose them when needed. The following is an excerpt from my .bash_profile

    Now i want to set redutancy for the RMAN backup...I need to keep the archives for 3 days..IS that possible to set a reduancy for *.dbf files as 2 and for archive files as 3 in RMAN....Two separate redunancies...
    thanks,
    baskar.l

    Since you hide your database version, there's no accurate answer possible (sometimes Oracle performs changes), this is for 10g concerning the archivelog deletion policy (it has changed significantly in 11g):
    ARCHIVELOG DELETIONPOLICYTO ( APPLIED ON STANDBY | NONE | CLEAR ) Governs archived redo log deletion policy for the flash recovery area. Possible settings are:
    •APPLIED ON STANDBY - enables flash recovery area to delete archivelogs that are applied on mandatory standby. See Oracle Data Guard Concepts and Administration for details.
    •NONE - enables flash recovery area to delete archivelogs that are backed up to tertiary device and that are obsolete based on the configured backup retention policy. This is the default configuration.
    •CLEAR - clears the deletion policy and returns the specified configuration to default value. The default value is NONE.
    As you can see there's no equivalent to 'REDUNDANCY n'.
