Setting size of Line border

Hi there,
I'm trying to create a LineBorder or any other border other than an EmptyBorder, however I don't know how to set its size. With EmptyBorder its easy, call: new EmptyBorder( A, B, C, D ); where A, B, C, D are the insets, .. so can you do this with other borders?
I'm kind of sick of having rubbishy looking empty borders in my application.
If any can help that would be great - and I will give you a treat.
Thanks loads once more you guys..
Edd.

Have a look at BorderFactory or more specifically, the createLineBorder method.
public static Border createLineBorder(Color color,
                                      int thickness)This method creates a line border with a specified color and width.
The width applies to all four sides of the border.
To specify widths individually for the top, bottom, left, and right, use createMatteBorder(int,int,int,int,Color).

  • Adding a double line border to a table

    Hi
    i am creating a PDF form which contains a table, is there a way to set a double line border to to the table in the form ( like the option in EXCLE - i mean border like this: || )
    Thanks, Ami

    Hi Ami,
    Try using borderStyle property of a  field
    var f = this.getField("MyField");
    f.borderStyle = border.u; /* border.s evaluates to "inset" */
                                            OR
    f.borderStyle = border.i; /* border.s evaluates to "beveled" */

  • Report Generation broken after deployment - Excel Set Cell Color and Border.vi

    Upon deployment, the Excel Set Cell Color and Border.vi became broken.  After installing LV2010 SP1 to view the VIs in the deployment, I noticed that in the second case structure where the code draws the border using the BorderAround invoke node, there is an extra variant input parameter named 'Parameters'.  Upon right-clicking, an option to 'Relink Invoke Node' appeared and after selecting this, the extra input disappeared and the VI was no longer broken.
    Why does "Relink Invoke Node" appear?  How do I create a deployment with this issue?  Has anybody else experienced this?  Why is the TestStand deployment so buggy?

    Hi Ching-Hwa,
    I have set up a test deployment here where I am deploying a workspace that contains a sequence file.  This sequence file has a LabVIEW Action Step calling a VI that opens a new Excel file and simply calls the Excel Set Cell Color and Border VI.  After deploying this, both the VI and my test sequence ran on the deployment machine without error.  Therefore, I do have some more questions to more accurately reproduce what you are seeing.
    First, what operating systems are you developing on and deploying to?  Also, what license do you have for TestStand on the machine you are deploying to?  If you have a development version, can you manually take the sequence file and VI to this machine and run it?  I know you now have LabVIEW 2010 SP1 on your development machine, but if you have the development version of TestStand as well, it would be interesting to see if you copy the files over if you still see this behavior.  Are you including the TestStand Engine in the deployment?
    Can you open a blank VI on the deployment machine and add the Excel Set Cell Color and Border VI?  It would also be interesting to see if this is not a product of the deployment, but rather an issue with something on the deployment machine itself.  What version of the Report Generation Toolkit do you have on each machine?  Also, what versions of Excel are you using on the development and deployment machine?  Again, it would be helpful for me to know exactly what versions you have installed on both the development and deployment machines so that I can reproduce this as accurately as possible.
    One last thing to try, too, would be to try deploying the VI by itself just to see if it also has the same behavior.  Do you have the Application Builder in LabVIEW?  If so, could you also try building an executable from the VI, create an installer, and deploy this to the deployment machine?
    In regards to the "freezing" of code by removing the block diagrams, I do not believe this will be a proper work around in this case.  While this removes the block diagram from actually being deployed along with the VI and restricts users from editing the code on the deployment machine, if something is getting changed in the compiled code upon deployment, this will not stop this from happening.  This option is available more as a memory option to lower the size of the deployment as well as prohibit any users on the development machine from editing the block diagram themselves.
    Thanks, Ching-Hwa!  I look forward to your response so that I can continue trying to reproduce this issue.  Have a great day!

  • How programmatically set size of report element in Java

    In topic
    [How programmaticaly set size of some field?|How programmaticaly set size of some field?]
    someone changing programmatically report element, but I think this part of code
    is in .NET framework
    For example I mean something like following snippet
    BoxObject box = (BoxObject) reportClientDocument
    .getReportDefController().findObjectByName("headerBox");
    BoxObject newBoxObject=new BoxObject(box);
    Border border=new Border();
    border.setBorderColor(new Color(255,255,255));
    newBoxObject.setBorder(border);
    newBoxObject.setFillColor(new Color(255,255,255));
    reportClientDocument
    .getReportDefController().getReportObjectController().modify(box, newBoxObject);
    Why I think this is in .NET framework because java object "ReportClientDocument" don't have "getReportDefController()" method (I donu2019t know .NET).
    What I want to do, I want to take "Details" (part of report) and change size.
    If there is no way to take "Details" how can I take other report element e.g. Text Object

    Ernest,
    What enviroment are you working in? Because my ReportClientDocument object does have the getReportDefController method. How are you declaring your object?
    Try something like:
    private static com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.report.application.ReportClientDocument myRCD;
    BoxObject box = (BoxObject) myRCD.getReportDefController().findObjectByName("headerBox");
    Cheers

    Hi Moshe,
    lets say you have a simple table with one header & 1 body row with 4 fields A,B,C,D.
    if you want a border if A value is not null have the below javascript on form ready event of field A.
    Make sure you have no borders defined for the table at any element.
    if(this.rawValue != null || this.rawValue != "")
               this.parent.border.getElement("edge",2).presence = "visible"; // sets bottom border to the data row node.
    Note: 0 = top
    1 = right
    2 = bottom
    3 = left */
    Since I have used this property and no absolute paths, if you just copy paste my code it should work (hopefully ha ha ha).
    if you need my test file give me a test mail to my ID.

  • Line size and line count

    Hi all,
    May i know about line size and line count impact on reports ?
    i mean depending on line sizes values i.e 200 etc hw it will effect report either in output display  or length ?
    and also ablout line count too.
    Thanks in advance.

    This information may help you
    *... LINE-SIZE width *
    Effect
    This addition specifies the line width of the basic list and details list of the program to width characters, and sets the system field sy-linsz to this value. The line width determines the number of characters in the line buffer as well as the number of columns in the list displayed. The value width must be a positive numeric literal. The maximum line width is 1,023 characters.
    When the LINE-SIZE is not specified, the line width of the basic list is set to a standard width based on the window width of the current Dynpro, but is at least as wide as a standard size SAP window. For the standard width, the contents of sy-linsz is 0. The LINE-SIZE overwrites the value of the like-named LINE-SIZE addition to the statement SUBMIT and can be overwritten during list creation with the like-named LINE-SIZE addition to the statement NEW-PAGE.
    Note
    The current maximum line width is stored in the constants slist_max_linesize of the type group SLIST. Also defined there is a type slist_max_listline of type c with length slist_max_linesize.
    *... LINE-COUNT page_lines[(footer_lines)] *
    Effect
    This addition specifies the page length for the basic list of the program to page_lines lines and fills the system field sy-linct with this value. If the LINE-COUNT is not specifed, and if page_lines are less than or equal to 0 or greater than 60,000, then the page length is set internally to 60,000. This setting overwrites the passed value of the like-named LINE-SIZE addition to the statement SUBMIT and can be overwritten during list creation with the like-named LINE-COUNT addition to the statement NEW-PAGE.
    If you optionally specify a number for footer_lines, a corresponding number of lines are reserved for the page footer, which can be described in the event block END-OF-PAGE.
    You must specify page_lines and footer_lines as numeric literals.
    Notes
    For screen lists, you should use the standard value since, as a rule, page breaks defaulted through LINE-COUNT are not adjusted to the window size.
    You should also use the standard value for print lists, so that you can still select the page size on a printer-specific basis. A print list should be created in such a way so that it can handle every page size.
    Specifying a fixed line count is only useful for form-type lists with a fixed page layout. Here, however, you should always check whether such forms can be created by other means, such as SAPScript forms.

  • Set size of jPanel

    Hi i've create a jForm in netbeans. To this I have added a scrollpane containing a jPanel called PrintPreview. (I have to do this rather than use the automated preview of printUtilities because of some items I need removed from the original jPanel before printing).
    I need to set the size of the PrintPreview jPanel as it's instantiated. I have the dimensions created from another class called "Gbl".
    In the constructor is the following:
    /** Creates new form PrintPreview */
    public PrintPreview() {
    PreviewPanel.setPreferredSize(new Dimension(Gbl.previewWidth,Gbl.previewHeight);
    PreviewPanel.setMaximumSize(new Dimension(Gbl.previewWidth,Gbl.previewHeight);
    PreviewPanel.setMinimumSize(new Dimension(Gbl.previewWidth,Gbl.previewHeight);
    Window.pack();
    initComponents();
    this.setLocationRelativeTo(null);
    // ADD CODE - COLLECT DRAWING FROM ARRAY
    PreviewPanel.repaint();
    I would like the jPanel set to these dimensions however I would also like the scrollPane to remain at it's standard size so I can scroll the diagram as necessary.
    Could you please tell me where I am going wrong? The three setSize lines are flagged as erroneous. The dimensions are int and have tried double.
    Any advice is good...
    Thanks

    Ok I'm going to add onto this thread because it still relates to the original problem. setting size of jPanel.
    Some details first:
    OS - Ubuntu Gutsy 7.10
    Kernel - 2.6.22-14-generic
    NB - v5.5.1
    Java version - java version "1.5.0" / gij (GNU libgcj) version 4.2.1 (Ubuntu 4.2.1-5ubuntu5)
    Research:
    I have been trawling the net for days trying to resolve this but I am struggling to find anything specific to my problem. I keep finding general methods using given NB facilities. I've also scoured a couple of my Java books but of course they're not totally relevant to NetBeans. I've practiced using the forum this afternoon to find things but with my lack of knowledge using both forums and java has left me a little bamboozled. I've been working on this problem for a couple of days now and achieved very little.
    My specific problem is this:
    I have a JFrame GUI. Inside that I have a jTabbedPane containing a jScrollPane containing a jPanel. I would like to have the jPanel display at A4 size relevant to the screen it is displayed on. e.g. I have a separate global class "Gbl" that calculates the dimensions based on current dpi and then creates the necessary measurements to feed to my preferred size function.
    I have tried implementing the preferred size method to the constructor and have also tried adding it to all four ways to enter bespoke code to NetBeans' autogenerated code. (Pre-init, Post-init, Pre-creation and Post-creation code) To no avail. Nothing changes on screen.
    The code I am trying to enter is as follows:
    // Set preferred size of user-drawing-area (jPanel1)
    jPanel1.setPreferredSize(new java.awt.Dimension(600,500));
    jPanel1.setMaximumSize(new java.awt.Dimension(600,500));
    jPanel1.setMinimumSize(new java.awt.Dimension(600,500));
    // Set preferred size of jPanel1 container (jScrollPane1)
    jScrollPane1.setPreferredSize(new java.awt.Dimension(600,500));
    jScrollPane1.setMaximumSize(new java.awt.Dimension(600,500));
    jScrollPane1.setMinimumSize(new java.awt.Dimension(600,500));
    // Set preferred size of the jScrollPane1 container (mainTabView(Tabbed pane))
    mainTabView.setPreferredSize(new java.awt.Dimension(600,500));
    mainTabView.setMaximumSize(new java.awt.Dimension(600,500));
    mainTabView.setMinimumSize(new java.awt.Dimension(600,500));
    I am using absolute values here to omit any error getting the variables from my Global class. If it works I will add them and test again.
    Ideally, I would like the jPanel to be set to an A4 size yet have the containers at a smaller more "screen-manageable" size (With scroll bars). Then if the GUI is maximized, then it only expands to the full size of the A4 sized jPanel if possible.
    Of course, this may not be possible or there may be a far better method for doing this, however I am really stumped. I've had some good advice this afternoon of whihc has opened may eyes some. Although, I have made no headway so far. I hope the above follows site-rules and gives enough information to resolve this issue. I'm losing hair rapidly!
    I'm grateful for any advice given. Thank You

    Well if you want to export in I think you have to manually do it.
    The workaround it to open your aperture library by right clicking it and show contents...
    Then go into your project right click show contents...
    In here there are sub folders on dates that the pictures were added to those projects. If you open the sub folder and search for your pictures name it should be in that main folder.
    You can just copy it out as you would any normal file to any other location.
    Voila you have manually exported out your file.
    There is a very similar post that has been close but again you can't export the original file that you are working on - FYI http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2075419

  • How can I set the default line height?

    Greetings,
    I have a report that displays observed behavior in a list format like the one below:
    Behavior Observed:
        Withdrawn
        Happy
        Sad
        angry
    There are 5 responses as to the severity of the behavior or it is left blank if the behavior was within normal limits.
    So the output would look like this:
    Behavior Observed:
        Withdrawn            (mild)
        Happy
        Sad                      (moderate)
        angry
    The problem is that when this report was designed the details sections were not uniformy formatted and the spacing between data elements is hard to follow from the label to the data field.  I tried to set the details to be uniform by selecting "Arrange Lines",  however when I do this, the data is displayed too close horizontally.  So my question is how do I set the default line height for each field so that they are uniform in distance from each other but not too close due to the font height?
    Does this make sense?
    Thank you,
    Kevin

    I'm confused... How are you associating line height with horizontal field spacing???
    If you have this...
    Behavior Observed:     Severity:
    Withdrawn          (mild)
    Happy
    Sad               (moderate)
    angry
    But want it to look like this...
    Behavior Observed:
    Withdrawn (mild)
    Happy
    Sad (moderate)
    angry
    all you have to do is create a concatenation formula. Something like this...
    {TableName.BehaviorObserved} & " (" & {TableName.Severity} &")"
    Sorry if I've misunderstood what you are trying to do.

  • Can;t see the red line border around the text when I hit the Play button

    On the last page I have a burgundy red lined border. However, when I hit the Play button, that red border does not show. I clicked onto it and then clicked onto: Send to front --- but when I did that, all of the text disappeared, presumable “sent to the back” since the line border was sent to the front so it could be seen.
    I would like to see both text AND red border. What am I doing wrong and how can I fix it?
    ~ Lorna in Southern California

    Lorna,
    With your text box selected open the inspector and go to the shape tab. There select border then you can choose the type of border that you want the thickeness, color and even a shadow if you want. You should be able then to delete the other border that seems to be hiding your text.
    Hope this helps

  • How do I create a white line border for my video

    So I've got standard HD source video with 16:9 aspect ratio (1920 x 1080 pixels) and I've made it "wide screen" by putting black slugs as bands at the top and bottom of the screen. I would now like to place a white line border at the top and bottom of the visible video. How do I do this in FCP? Is there a "draw" like function within FCP similar to those in Microsoft Word or Powerpoint, so that I can draw a line and then define it's colour and width?
    Thanks very much.

    Hi Michael,
    if you need to do this often a plugin may also help you to quickly and easily create, reposition and change the width and color of one or more lines. One of these plugins is a free one of mine (actually I have two line genertors available for you).
    You can find them using the link below, they are  "line generators" indeed:
    http://www.lucavisualfx.com/freebies.htm
    Hope you find them useful, if you need me to increase/decrease certain control values (in the actual script/code) let me know and I'll make necessary adjustments for you.
    Luca
    Disclaimer: The plugins downloadable from the link above are totally free, however, the web site includes commercial plugins/visual fx web pages. As per TOU I am required to state that  I may  receive compensation of some sort from my link reccomendation.

  • No line border and text in book is printed in black instead of dark blue

    Just ordered my first photo book, and found that the text in the book is printed in black instead of the dark blue I thought I had used. I was advised by Apple to remove the 'plist' (had no idea what that was but found some info on Google) by dragging it onto my desktop, then log out and log in again and open the book again and once more choose the right color for the text, and then check the book as PDF in Preview before ordering it again.
    I've done that and the text is now the color I want it to be, so I could go ahead and order it again now, I guess. Meanwhile that plist is still on my desktop - what should I do about that?
    Besides, before ordering the book again I'd like to solve another problem with it, for which Apple didn't give me a solution, and that is that only part of the line borders in my Line Border Theme photo book are visible. There are no lines around a single photo per page (so the photo is not 'framed' so to speak), and on pages with several photo's there are only lines between photo's but not on the outside.
    Any ideas anybody?
    Ps. I should add that Apple was very decent about returning my money right away (besides the two things I just mentioned, the book was also slightly damaged), but didn't answer all my questions.
    I really would like to get the book right and printed though.

    the file com.apple.iPhoto.plist contains your iPhoto preferences and when you launch iPhoto and there is none a fresh new reference file is created so you can throw the old one away
    To preview your book before ordering I recommend Apple's Knowledge base article - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1040
