Hello,
I'm from Romania. when i installed Oracle Database and Developer Suite 10g, the installed languages were Romanian and English. currently all of error messages for example are in Romanian. (in Dev. Suite too). how can i change to English?

    Updates to the Oracle Language and Territory Definition Files
    Changes have been made to the content in some of the language and territory definition files in Oracle Database 10g. These updates are necessary to correct the legacy definitions which no longer meet the local conventions in some of the Oracle supported languages and territories. These changes include modifications to the currency symbols, month names, and group separators. One example is the local currency symbol for Brazil. This has been updated from Cr$ to R$ in Oracle Database 10g.
    Please refer to the "Oracle Language and Territory definition changes" table documented in the $ORACLE_HOME/nls/data/old/data_changes.html file for a detailed list of the changes.
    Oracle Database 10g customers should review their existing application code to make sure that the correct cultural conventions that are defined in Oracle Database 10g are being used. For customers who may not be able to make the necessary code changes to support their applications, Oracle offers Oracle9i locale definition files with Oracle Database 10g.
    To revert back to the Oracle9i language and territory behavior, perform the following:
    Shutdown the database.
    Run the script cr9idata.pl from the $ORACLE_HOME/nls/data/old directory.
    Set the ORA_NLS10 environment variable to the newly created $ORACLE_HOME/nls/data/9idata directory.
    Restart the database.
    Steps 2 and 3 will need to be repeated for all 10g database clients that need to revert back to the Oracle9i definition files.
    Oracle Corporation strongly recommends that customers use the Oracle Database 10g locale definition files; Oracle9i locale definition files will be desupported in a future release.

    Hi, I have searched the forums and didn't find a reliable post on how to set the reading language for accessibility in a PDF document programmatically. Maybe using a pdfmark or specifying XMP metadata or postscript code, javascript or any other way. Any ideas will be appreciated.

    I want to decide dynamically while running a sequence to log the results to a database or not.
    So I need to set the "database logging enabled" property by a activex function call.
    Does a activex api function exist? I didn't found one, or is their an other way to change the property value?

    Ah! I understand.
    You can change the runtime properties from you sequence or inside your step by using the Lookup string of
    "RunState.Caller.Locals.DatabasesOptions.DisableDatabaseLogging"
    Use the TS API  PropertyObject.SetValBoolean("DatabasesOptions.DisableDatabaseLogging", 0, newValue) method with RunState.Caller.Locals as your ActiveX Reference. (where newValue would be True or False.)
    Depending at what level you perform this API method depends how many "RunState.Caller" you have in your lookup string.
    eg.
    My example of
    PropertyObject.SetValBoolean("DatabasesOptions.DisableDatabaseLogging", 0, newValue) with RunState.Caller.Locals as your ActiveX Reference is based on a step in MainSequence which has been called by the Process Model sequence.
    If you have a step in a Sub-Sequence of MainSequence then the lookup string would be
     "RunState.Caller.RunState.Caller.Locals" as the activeX reference.

    With OmniPortlet, I can set the database connection I wish to use for that instance of the portlet in the configuration, but I can't seem to find a way to accomplish this with Dynamic Page portlets. How can I configure what server/user the portlet is using?

    Is there a way to create multiple instances of the Dynamic Page Portlet that use different database providers, or is that impossible? (I'm somewhat new to Portal, so forgive me if that is an ignorant question)

    The only choices you have in the iPad itself are to change the keyboard or change the user interface language. If that doesn't do what you want, probably best ask the people who make Papers.

    Click Help > Contents & Index.
    When the help opens enter Default Language. The important bit is to tick This Reference Only so that you stay in the help. That tells you how to set the default language but not how to get to the screen where you do that. To get to that you need to go up a level, use the breadcrumbs.
    I realise it's too late for what you wanted but it may help knowing how to get another answer in the future.

  • Forms 10g : How to set the Database Item property for an item dynamically ?

    Hello all,
    I have a requirement where I need to set the database item property of an item to TRUE/FALSE
    dynamically at runtime based on certain conditions.
    Earlier, in forms 6i I've used,
    Set_Item_Property (<item_name>, DATABASE_ITEM, PROPERTY_TRUE);
    But in Forms 10g it doesn't recognize this Database_Item property and gives a compilation error.
    Have I overlooked something or has this property become obsolete in Forms 10g ?
    If obsoleted what is the replacement property ?

    Some options:
    1. Create a database-view, including the "real" column in databases where it exists and a "dummy"-column in databases where it doesn't exist.
    If that's not possible,
    2. set database="No" for your item and
    -- create a POST-QUERY-trigger which reads the data for that column from the database, if the column exists, and
    -- create a ON-UPDATE-trigger which includes an
    UPDATE_RECORD;
    UPDATE THETABLE SET
      THECOLUMN=thevalue

  • Dynamically setting the database link

    I am creating a stored procedure that calls another stored procedure in another Oracle database. Its basically like this:
    storedProc1@TestLink
    And what I want to do is assign the "TestLink" to a variable, and concatenate that variable to the first line of the call to the stored proc, so it would be something like this:
    storedProc1@||LinkVariable
    I need to do this so the user can set if he wants to run this in a test or production environment. Can I do this??

    Could be symptom of the fist languages we learned. Coming from a Pascal background, formal, modularised, and structured code were the very fundamentals drummed into us. Cannot recall ever seeing an ELSEIF until I started using other programming languages.

    That is not a Java thing, but comes from the old C days of programming on 80x25 consoles on mainframes. Having a curly on a new line all by itself, increased the number of lines of code, and decreased readability as you could only see 25 lines of code at a time. Thus it made sense not to waste a whole line just for the curly alone.
    In the early days of Linux kernel hacking, it was one of the standards for kernel hackers too. No X available at that time on Linux.

    Ditto. I also see it being used more often than the CASE statement. And I think that it cannot be argued that with properly indented/formatted code, a case statement is much easier readable and maintainable than an ELSEIF.
    So it begs the question in my mind as to why ELSEIF is so commonly used these days.
    It seems to me that a lot of code written today lacks that "basics" of what I saw in much of the code of previous decades. But then I also think that properly code itself has its own inherent beauty... maybe many of the developers of today think different and do not care for those aspects of coding.

    Learn that language.
    Just kidding... hit the menu button a few times to make sure you're at the top-level menu. Then scroll down to the sixth option (five clicks down... it's "Settings" in English). Select that, then scroll to the fifteenth option (fourteen clicks down, also the third from the last option... "Language" in English). Select this, then select the first option in this menu. That should be English.

    A Locale object represents a specific geographical, political, or cultural region.     Was it really necessary to post the whole API description?!?
    Locale[] locales = Locale.ENGLISH();ENGLISH is not a method in class Locale, so do not add the braces "( );".
    Also, the constant ENGLISH is not an array, but just a single Locale object.
    You didn't say what your problem was. What do you want to achieve with your program and what is it that you don't understand?

  • Setting the document language in a pdf for accessibility

    I have created a form in livecycle and ran the full accessiblity check in Adobe and it says that 'All of the text on this page lacks a language specification'. I tried to go into the document properties>advanced and set the reading options but everything is greyed out so I can't change anything. I am the form author so I don't know why I am unable to change this. Can anyone tell me why I can't set the language or if there is another way I could do this?

    Sorry, I don't know. But bear in mind that the accessibility checker in Acrobat is not relevant to you at all. An XFA form looks like an empty PDF to accesibility rules. I really don't know if there are accessibility rules and tools for XFA forms.

  • How do I set the document language in Pages '13?

    In Pages '09 it was possible to set a document's language by going to the More tab in the Text menu of the Inspector and selecting the language from the pull-down menu.
    In Pages '13 this has disappeared from the text format More sidebar, and I cannot find any way to set the language at all. It is possible to alter the spell-checking language in the Spelling and Grammar menu (under Edit in the menu bar), but this also indicates that the document language is set somewhere centrally. See this screenshot, where I have a document that was obviously set to Br. English and I want it in Am. English:
    I have to work in multiple languages and various flavors (it's the same in German). My system language is set to English and my keyboard to Am. English.
    Any idea of what to do?

    That is all you can do at present with Pages 5.  Like Peter said, if you want something more, you need to go back to Pages 4.

  • How to set the default language in preferences- dictionary- language

    Hi guys,
    i like to set the default dictionary language as well as the lookup path of the dictionary via script. I've found the property dictionary path as well as some settings for qoutation under languages with vendors:
    app.languagesWithVendors[INDEX OF LANGUAGE].name
    app.languagesWithVendors[INDEX OF LANGUAGE].dictionaryPaths
    Thats fine, but how can it set a certain language with vendor as the default language for the application itself? Under the Preferences->Dictionary dialog, I can find a dropdown showing the default language. But how can I access this default or set it?
    The application object has a property object called dictionaryPreferences, but this object only contains some flags like the merge behaviour but not the default language itself. So where is it?

    Ok guys,
    in the meantime I think I got it. I can setup  several dictionaries for several languages. Depending on the language I use in my paragraph styles the according dictionary will be used. Fine for the desktop.
    But what about the InDesign Server! I use the server via scripting and SOAP ports, webservice calls. I've launched several webservice ports, like 10001,10002,10003,10004. In this case, I can set up a vendor dictionary by providing a path via script send to one port 10001 for example. But here are two problems:
    1. The other InDesign Server instances aka webservice ports and engines won't get informed about the change. I have to run the script on all instances.
    2. The change only lives as long as the instance is running but doesn't get saved. After restart the instance, the setup got lost.
    So can I save the dictionary-setup with an pref-xml file, all InDesign Server instances would use and read per default?

  • How to set the document language based on the contents of a text variable?

    In my Indesign documents, I use a text variable in which I type the abbreviation of the document language according ISO639-1 (e.g. EN, DE, ES, ...). I'd like to have a JavaScript that checks this text variable every time the document is opened and then sets the Language property of my Normal paragraph style, but I don't have any experience with JavaScript.
    Can someone help me please?
    PS: I use InDesign CS5.5.

    I believe ES4 sp1 allows you to do this, but I don't have that version so aren't sure.  I follow the steps described in this blog, LiveCycle Blog: Gesperrte PDF-Eigenschaften in XFA-Formularen ändern//Edit locked PDF properties in XFA forms seems very hacky but does work (the English version comes after the German).
