Setting up iPad without iTunes account
I want to buy an ipad2 for my father who's lives outside the US. I would like to set up his email accounts and anything else I can do myself for hip before I ship it over.
Questions:
I have an ITunes account but he does not. I believe I need to connect to iTunes to setup the iPad however I'm concerned that his iPad will be connected to my iTunes account. I intend to get him some help in setting up his own iTunes account later (when he receives this) so he can sync etc on his own. Is there any way for me to set up the machine for him here and then let him run with it going forward?
I think you can make him an iTunes account on your computer, use it to set up the iPad, then help him get itunes and that account on his own computer so he can sync.
I'm not sure about the paying and credit card part of it. When I se up my itunes account i could use an iTunes gift card and not a credit card. I wonder if you can do the same? Or, if it insists upon a credit card, use yours long enough to set it up, get a $10 iTunes card and take your CC off and put that gift card on in its place. ( I've never had to do that so I'm not quite sure about how it'd work)
The other bug in this, either you make him a new e-mail (like a yahoo or gmail or something) account so he doesn't get e-mails about a gift he doesn't know he's getting, or you spill the beans early. You can always make him a disposable account for the setup and then make changing that info be part of the whole 'in person' set up.

I started with one itunes account for my iphone and ipad, and now have a second ipad linked to the same itunes. Can I set up a new itunes account for one ipad without losing what has already been downloaded on it? I want to stop my husbands downloads appearing on my ipad, and vice versa.
A much simpler solution would be to go into Settings > Store and turn off Automatic Downloads

My daughter received an I phone for Christmas and we set it up using my iTunes account. She just received an iPad and wants to set up her own iTunes account. How do we do that without losing all of her content that she added to my iTunes account. I have home sharing on my account.
Welcome to the Apple Community.
If she creates her own iTunes account she can't use any protected content purchased under another account. She can play unprotected content synced from an iTunes library on a computer, but she can only download content from the cloud that is purchased under her account.
It's a pain I know, but the longer you put off the move, the worse the situation will become. -
I need to set up 9 IPhones and 4 IPads to be used as data collection devices. How can I do that without setting up 13 separate ITunes accounts?
You can use the same account to set up as many devices as you like.
You might also find there are tools to help with a roll out.

I just bought an iPad 2 - I plugged it in to my home PC and downloaded a couple of apps using my wife's iTunes account. Since I bought the device for work, I then set up my own iTunes account on my office PC. The problem I am having is that none of the apps I downloaded in the new account appear on my iPad. I can see them on screen #2 in iTunes and I know how to swipe to get to that screen.
I've tried everything mentioned - I authorized my office computer (but not my home one - could this be the problem?). I turned on home network file sharing. Checked to make sure parental controls are off. I'm not sure what to do next. When you installed iTunes on your work computer, then connected your iPad to that computer, it wiped what was on the iPad, then put the iTunes library (nothing) from the work computer onto the iPad. You can try copying the iTunes folder from your home computer over to your work computer, but since the apps were bought with a different account, they may not load or update properly.

I am a US resident but spend several months each year at my house in England. Is it possible for me to download UK iPad apps from the iTunes Store? Right now they seem to be restricted. Can I set up an alternate iTunes account using a UK credit card?
When you go to Starbucks, you'll need to first go to Settings on your iPad and choose Network. You'll see ATTWIFI as one of the available networks. When you click on that to select it, you should be immediately sent to AT&T's sign in page. You just need to check the box that says you agree to their terms and conditions and then hit the Connect button and you'll be online. One warning, however. If your Starbucks is anything like those in Manhattan, be prepared for really slow wifi. It can be a real pain waiting for pages to load sometimes.

I have just bought an ipad 2 and wish to set up a new account as now I won't have to share with my sister. I want to get all the music off my current iTunes account & put it on to the ipad/new iTunes account. I'm not too sure how to do this though.... Please help lol :-) x
If you mean iTunes libraries or computer user accounts, just create one. To make a new iTunes library on Windows, launch iTunes with the Shift key held down and choose Create Library.
If you mean iTunes Store accounts, click here and request assistance.

I am trying to set up a different itunes account from my kids so I don't have to share contacts, calendar, etc. but I still want to maintain access to all the music I have purchased. Is this possible?
Family Sharing - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT201060 - "Family Sharing makes it easy for up to six people in your family to share each other’s iTunes, iBooks, and App Store purchases without sharing accounts. Pay for family purchases with the same credit card and approve kids’ spending right from a parent’s device. And share photos, a family calendar, and more to help keep everyone connected."
Sharing purchased content with Family Sharing - http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201085 - "With Family Sharing, family members get immediate access to each others’ music, movies, TV shows, books, and apps, and can download them to their own devices any time they like.*" "* Not all content and content types are available in all countries. All family members must use the same iTunes Store country or region. Music, movies, TV shows, and books can be downloaded on up to 10 devices per account, five of which can be computers. Apps can be downloaded to any devices the family member owns or controls. -
I am setting up a new iTunes account and do not have a credit card. When I am setting the new account up it does NOT give me an option of "none" in lieu of an actual credit card. What do I do?
How did you create it ? There are instructions on this page for creating a new account (the instructions won't work with existing existing account) without giving credt card details : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2534
e.g. if currently logged into an account then log of it, then find a free app in the store, click on its free 'price', and you should then be able to create a new account during the 'buying' process and get 'none' as an option on the payments screen -
Old story, heard many times before I'm sure...two ipads, one itunes account. How do I set it up so one ipad is not always syncing the other's data etc?
You select the exact content that you want to sync to each device. You can use one iTunes account with 6 iPads. You just have to set your sync preferences the way that you want them to be set for each device.
Using apps as the example....
Sync with iTunes.
Connect the iPad to the PC and launch iTunes.
Click on the iPad name on the left side under devices.
Click on the Apps Tab on the right.
Click on all of the apps that you want to sync.
Click on the Sync Apps Heading.
Click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes
You do the same thing in every tab in iTunes. Select the content that you want to sync to that particular iPad and iTunes will remember the configuration the next time that you sync.

My daughter locked herself out of her phone cannot remember the advanced password setting, we share an Itunes account and both recently joined the cloud, if she resets her phone all her information will be gone, will it affect the data on my phone as well
No, when resetting an iPhone it resets the actual data contained within the phone, nothing on your iCloud will be affected. It is a good idea to use seperate iClouda and iTunes accounts then you can each create your own backups regularly without your daughters backup overwriting yours or vice versa.

Can I set up two different ITunes accounts on the same computer?
Is it possible to set up two separate ITunes accounts on one computer and yet share some of the same songs in the Library?
Yes create two users on that computer
One for each account, and then you will have 2 itunes libraries.
Control Panel, user accounts, add new account (give it admin rights).
Log off and then log in with the new account.
Make sure you log out and not switch accounts when moving between the two users. -
How do I set up two separate iTunes accounts on one MacBook Pro in order to manage the wife's iPhone and my iPhone (with separate info on each of course) ? Can this be done? A little step by step would be greatly appreciated; just short step by step though, I can follow fairly well.
Kindest Regards,
Phil T.You would each need to use your own user account on the Mac, you can do this at system preferences > users & groups.

My daughter has been using my iTunes account to buy music and apps. I now want to set up a separate iTunes account for her, with a different login. How can we transfer the music and apps she has already bought to her new iTunes account?
Hello, thank you for your prompt answer. I did have an idea that Home sharing might be the answer but could not quite figure out how to do it. I have enabled home sharing in my iTunes account, put in username and password, clicked on creat etc. But the homs sharing icon doew not appear in the left side of iTunes. So I got stuck. Any further ideas?
