Settings of VMQ?

We have around 100VMs .I want to ask about an error I got in our environment recently .And i searched everywhere and a bit confused about VMQs as I got this error in HyperV Cluster hosts.
“Available processor sets of the underlying physical NICs belonging to the LBFO team NIC /DEVICE/{D2345946-C500-492B-AA6F-1DC2FF258E94} (Friendly Name: Microsoft Network Adapter Multiplexor
Driver) on switch 8E2B961A-4004-496D-B83B-6EFDFF639B9A (Friendly Name: ConvergedSwitch) are not configured correctly. Reason: The processor sets overlap when LBFO is configured with sum-queue mode.”
We have 4 nodes each with :
CPU:2x8 Cores=16 Cores and 32 Logical Processors.Hyper Threading enabled.
Network:2x10 Gbps
OS: Windows Server 2012 R2
One network Team :
                Teaming Mode: Switch Independent.
                Load Balancing Mode: Dynamic.
Standby adapter: None (All adapters active)
One virtual switch and two virtual NICs with the allow management OS access to the switch set to true .
What would be the recommended settings of VMQ or dVMQ ?and should I leave VMQ enabled on the virtual machines ?

Hi,
" set-netadaptervmq NIC1 -baseprocessornumber 2 -maxprocessors 8
set-netadaptervmq NIC2 - baseprocessornumber 18 -maxprocessors 8
VMQ i understand it uses only physical cores.
it will use theses cores if hyperthreading is enabled
2 4 6 8 10 12 14 16                 18 20 22 24 26 28 30 32? "
You need to take CPU 0,1 in to account .
I think it need to be configured as :
set-netadaptervmq NIC1 -baseprocessornumber 2 -maxprocessors 8
set-netadaptervmq NIC2 - baseprocessornumber 18 -maxprocessors 7
The result is :
2 4 6 8 10 12 14 16                 18 20 22 24 26 28 30

  • 2012 R2 logical switch VMQ

    Hey,
We are trying to set the correct settings for VMQ on 2012 R2 on our physical servers.
    Switch settings, Independent mode, Dynamic.
    CPU, HT 2x12, lp 48.
Receive queues is 15 per port, 2x10GB.
Per default it sets to base 0, max 16. This seems to work fine except that it reports alot of errors in the event logg as we are not using the correct settings for sum queue mode.
All settings with baseprocessornumber 0 seems to work fine, but on the second port if we set it correct to not overlapp it doesnt work.
    Any suggestions?
    //Johan

We're having the exact same issue. I posted to another community thread which seems abandoned by the original author but very similar in symptoms (they failed to post the event log):
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/c9884adf-1402-4323-b359-97739731f412/vmq-enabled-but-not-working?forum=winserverhyperv
If we leave our NICs (Qlogic QLE8262 cards, using one port from each card, running latest drivers) at the default of base proc zero, then VMQs are allocated but the LBFO warning happens (makes sense). But changing it to anything else fails with the OID error/failure.
Our hardware is Dell PowerEdge R820s and I've checked the BIOS for any odd IRQ options, but nothing there. Firmware, BIOS, drivers, etc are all the latest. We also have a case open with MS Support and thus far they haven't reproduced it on their end, but
are finally queuing up for a remote session.
My guess would be driver issues as well, even though Qlogic explicitly states VMQ support.

  • Hyper-V LBFO Teaming VMQ RSS-settings

    Hi,
We are running a six host Hyper-V Cluster on 2012 R2 Core machines. Since the environment was set up we have been receiving the following error:
    Source: Hyper-V-VmSwitch
    Event ID: 106
Description: Available processor sets of the underlying physical NICs belonging to the LBFO team on switch [GUID] (Friendly Name: VMNet Logical Switch are not configured correctly. Reason: The processor sets overlap when LBFO is configured with sum-queue
    mode.
The error pertains to the LBFO-team for our VM-Networks that was created automatically by SCVMM after joining the two NIC:s into a logical switch. After reading the MS documentation on Server 2012 teaming - http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=30160)
    - I came to the following conclusion:
The team is SwitchIndependent, Active-Active with HyperVPort as LBA. Our hosts have 32 logical cores therefore i ran the following commands:
Set-NetAdapterRss -name VMNet01 -BaseProcessorNumber 2 -MaxProcessorNumber 16 (Leaving out CPU core 0 and 1 for system processing as per recommendations)
    Set-NetAdapterRss -name VMNet02 -BaseProcessorNumber 17 -MaxProcessorNumber 31
(I did not run any commands on the Logical Switch itself)
Which would give each NIC 15 cores each to use for VMQ. After that configuration was made and I rebooted the server i receive a different error upon boot:
    Source: Hyper-V-VmSwitch
    Event ID: 15
Description: Failed to restore configuration for port Properties (Friendly Name: ) on switch [GUID] (Friendly Name: ), status = Object Name not found.
Where [GUID] is the GUID of the Hyper-V-switch and the Friendly name of that Switch is blank (instead of saying VMNetLogical Switch) as before. I have tried removing the switch and adding it again (destroying and recreating the team). But the issue persists.
Any ideas on how to fix this? Might this just be a "cosmetic flaw" or is it something I should get in order before putting this host back in to our production environment?
This is what i get when i run Get-NetadapterRSS on the NIC:s and the switch

  • Hyper-V - What is the correct VMQ Adapter Setting

Hello all, I'm setting up three Win2012R2 servers as a three node hyper-v cluster. I'm using converged networking and am using 4 nics; 2 nics will be for an infrastructure nic team that supports Management, Cluster, Live Migration, and the guest
OSes. The other 2 nics will be used for a storage connection. After the 2 infrastructure nics are teamed, I want to set up the correct vmq settings on each of the two network adapters based on the processors that are in the server.   I
have two 6-core processors in each server giving 24 logical processors. To prevent overlap in the processors that the vmq's will use, is this the best configuration?
    set-netadaptervmq NIC1 -baseprocessornumber 2 -maxprocessors 6
    set-netadaptervmq NIC2 - baseprocessornumber 14 -maxprocessors 6
    Any feedback appreciated. Thanks.

    I have the same setup.
Until I assign -baseprocessornumber 0 (vs 2) maxprocessors 6  the system will not utilize VMQ.
    I receive the following error:
Failed to allocate VMQ for NIC 13DADF6A-8BFF-4648-A10E-D52BA691F126--D08CC85B-D4BD-4BC0-9D17-F70D6F1E01F4 (Friendly Name: Network Adapter) on switch B54E0E56-17D0-4468-8252-F315AA32CF16 (Friendly Name: VM). Reason - The OID failed. Status = An invalid parameter
was passed to a service or function.
Upon changing baseproc to 0, the VMQ's are utilized, but I receive a proc overlap error.
I am using Brocade 10G adapters with the latest drivers.
I have had a ticket open with MSFT for many months.

  • VMQ on C220?

Hi, does the C220 support VMQ? We are seeing performance issues on a Windows 2012 Hyper-V host where VMQ is default enabled and suspect that lack of VMQ support might be the reason for it.
    Regards

    Hi Andreas
I understand; if you read the doc about c-series server, mananged by UCSM, you see the following p 287ff
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/unified_computing/ucs/sw/cli/config/guide/2-2/b_UCSM_CLI_Configuration_Guide_2_2.pdf
    - If you want to configure the VMQ vNIC on a service profile for a server, at least one adapter in the server must support VMQ. Make sure the servers have at least one the following adapters installed:• UCSC-PCIE-CSC-02 (this is the VIC-1225)
    - When a VMQ vNIC is configured on service profile, make sure you have the following settings:
    • Select SRIOV in the BIOS policy.
    • Select Windows in the Adapter policy.
    - Create a VMQ connection policy:
    UCS-A# scope org
    UCS-A /org # create vmq-conn-policy policy name
    UCS-A /org/vmq-conn-policy* # set queue-count queue count (number)
    UCS-A /org/vmq-conn-policy* # set interrupt-count queue count (number)
    UCS-A /org/vmq-conn-policy* # commit-buffer
I don't have a server at this moment to test; I assume (hope), that CIMC of a standalone server should allow you to do the same commands.
    Walter.

  • Enable/Disable VMQ Setting on VMs in Server 2012 - Hyper-V

We have a cluster of 2012 Server Core where each one holds about 40 VMs. We are concerned that the limited VMQs on each node are full of low priority VMs instead of those that could really benefit.  Indeed, this article says VMQs should be treated
    as a scarce resource:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg162704(v=ws.10).aspx
However, it is not clear how to choose which VMs get to use the VMQ. There is a check box in VM Settings > Network Adapter > Hardware Acceleration called "Enable virtual machine queue", and it appears to be checked on all VMs by default.
I can uncheck it manually, but I cannot find a PowerShell way to affect that checkbox.  We also have SCVMM 2012 SP1, and I cannot find any way to choose VMs to use VMQ there either.
So if it is true that I need to choose the VMs using VMQ, how can I do it with PowerShell, since there are so many VMs?

A basic idea to help you get started:
    Get-VMNetworkAdapter <criteria> | Set-VMNetworkAdapter -VmqWeight 0
There are a lot of ways to trim this up to get it to do exactly what you want.
    Get-VMNetworkAdapter documentation.
    Set-VMNetworkAdapter documentation.

  • After Drive Replacement, iTunes Points To Wrong Folder Even After Adjusting Settings

I moved my music to a new hard drive. I then adjusted settings within iTunes to "point" to the folder on the new drive. The folder name is identical as are all the files within it. I did this a few months back and had no issues once iTunes "located" my files. All files played, playlists remained intact. This time however only a small portion of my files successfully "located" and the remaining 75% are unplayable. When "shown in finder", the unplayable tracks point to a completely random folder within my mail folder of obviously non-music files. I've been searching for weeks how to fix this to no avail. I definitely do not want to lose my playlists, play counts, etc. so starting from scratch with iTunes is not an option for me. Please advise how to fix this very odd issue!
    iMac 3.4 Ghz i7
    OSX 10.8.5
    iTunes 12.0.1.26 (just updated)

To resolve this we will need details.  I don't know exactly what is where.  Even though it "worked last time" I see people post with that and almost invariably there is something different in the scenario this time.
The iTunes application alone has no idea where media files are.  You could drag all the media folders you like to the Media folder and it won't know.  You could "point" iTunes to that folder in preferences and it still will never look there.  iTunes knows where files are because as you add them to iTunes it puts them in the Media folder and makes a note in that .itl file where the files are located.  When you try to play a track iTunes looks up in the .itl file which media file it should try to play when you request the track and goes to that location to play the file.  If there file isn't there you get !  You have to mend the links one by one, or iTunes might try, based on you repairing links. to repair other links, but it doesn't usually work that way and is only partly successful at times (as we have already discussed).  If you have ever walked into a store and see an empty shelf but their web site says they have 3 in stock and the sales person says all their stock is out on the shelf, iTunes is like that.
Here's a bunch of links on how iTunes works.  As you can see, an entire library is a whole bunch of files and support folders working in concert and when they get split up iTunes starts misbehaving.

  • Downloader doesn't retain previous settings

Can Bridge Downloader be set to always open with the advanced dialog box and can it be set to retain the previous settings?  Also, is there a Preferences for the Downloader?  I can see it listed in the menu, but it's ghosted.
It would be a real time-saver if I didn't have to re-enter all the info each time I open the Downloader -- and then start all over again because I missed something and it downloads to the wrong drive/folder or creates dated folders when I don't want them or doesn't enter copyright info in metadata... you get the idea.
Thanks for any help with this.

it doesn't increase my faith in Adobe software when following their procedure that I'd also have to search the system to purge it manually.  It begs the question: why did I use the latest Adobe un-installer and the latest Adobe Cleaner
That's an understandable question and I have no certain answer for that, I'm only a user, not a technician
But I like to think that in normal ways an uninstall keeps certain files like settings and cache as it is so you won't have to go through that work again when installing upgrades. Further guessing is that the clean tool does get rid of the hidden and/or invisible preference files but not the cache, hence my suggestion to check anyway.
it's annoying that the Rotate tools were moved off the toolbars,
They are not, you just haven't selected the 'path bar' option under the menu window, put a check mark in front of it in the menu Window and they are there with other useful tool icons. Aside from that Bridge stills keeps deselecting the path bar every now and then. But my hopes for CS6 on resolving that item are high.
and having the Favourites and Folders under separate tiny icons is equally irritating and mousey.
You are right, they are tiny but you can design your own lay out. I have both under each other in one column with a very short favorites panel and a very long folder panel. Grab a folder tab and drag it. You will see there will appear blue lines surrounding the panel. You have three columns to work with, one bleu line (either vertical or horizontal) appears at the position were you can drop the selected panel in it's new lay out. A surrounding blue line means nesting in a panel with multiple tabs. In the beginning this is a bit tricky but you will get used to that. When your happy with the customized lay out save it as a new workspace. Plenty of options!
In PS 12.x, the implementation of the Adjustment Layers panel is also beyond belief!
This sounds as you don't like it while others (me included) are very very happy with it! You just have to get used to different ways of working, once tried a while and getting used to it you don't want to go back, trust me (besides, the shortcuts for adjustment layers still work to my knowledge and if not you can assign them yourself in a custom menu setting).
The problem with not upgrading to any new cycle is that the differences with prior version can get huge. It should so because software needs development and users need to get used to it. I can't tell you how often I have changed my workflow due to new methods (and knowledge) and the majority of this changes have brought me great benefit

  • How do I get loops to keep the effect settings I hear when previewing?

When I place loops into a new track, the effects settings go away and it is simply a dry signal. How can I move a loop from the browser into a new track and have it keep the effects settings that I hear when I preview the loop?

If you drag a green MIDI loop onto the Arrange window space, it should create a Software instrument track with all the required plug-ins for the sound, so don't drag it to an already existing Software instrument track.
If you drag it to an audio track it will convert it to an audio file, so obviously the instrument/fx plug-ins wont be in the channel strip.
    If that's what you mean?

  • Why does "itunes accounts" use data with all settings OFF?

Does anyone know how to keep "iTunes accounts" under system from using cellular data?
    I have already:
    1. Toggled OFF all settings in the "Use cellular data for" menu.
    2. Turned OFF all automatic downloads and any other options under iTunes/app store settings.
    3. Turned OFF Background App refresh.
    4. Turned OFF all options under iCloud sync menu.
Right now, the only thing that keeps "iTunes accounts" from pulling cellular data is turning Cellular Data completely OFF, but I don't want to do this because I lose some messaging and voicemail functions and I need to be able to use Find My Phone. I have two identical iPhone 5c's on this account. One is running iOs 8.1.2 and the above settings control it's data usage nicely. The other phone is running iOs 8.1.3 and this one uses 50-100 mb a day even with all the above settings off and the phone almost always on wifi.
I am aware that the phone will lose it's wifi connection when asleep, but that shouldn't be a problem if all the apps/settings are already set not to use cellular data. What am I missing. I've read a bunch of threads on this issue and they all suggest settings I already have OFF.

My personal phone is on 8.1.2. My daughter's phone is 8.1.3.
It is her phone that is currently having this problem, but I reported it under my account; sorry for the confusion.
My phone has had some data problems in the past, but I have been able to control them by keeping almost all data options OFF and the overall switch ON. My usage is back to less than 50 mb per month which makes sense since my phone is almost always on wifi and I don't use data dense applications.
Everything about my daughter's phone is the same as mine except for the 8.1.3 upgrade. She does use things like Instagram more than I do, but I have them all set to not use Cellular Data and the option to change these settings is locked. When I look at the usage on her phone, it isn't her apps that are pulling unexpected data; it's "iTunes accounts" under system services. All the options under iTunes/App Store (auto downloads, home sharing, etc.) and all the iCloud options are already OFF.

  • How to connect sound or audio to my tv using hdmi adapter. I tried to connect thru sound settings but my tv is not found.

how to connect sound to my tv set using hdmi adapter. Im using 2009 macbook pro 13". I went to sound settings then output and it shows internal speaker built- in, it wont locate my tv set. pls. help, thanks

You probably can't because it looks like your MacBook Pro is too old to carry audio over HDMI. You will need to run a separate audio cable from the audio out port on the MacBook Pro to the audio in port on the TV.
Check your MacBook Pro model year against the list in this Apple tech note:
About Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapters
Learn about the Mini DisplayPort in the latest Mac models that enables audio and video output for DisplayPort and HDMI.

  • Using Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter -- any settings on the Macbook Air I need to change?

Going into a meeting with my Macbook Air with Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter, which will be connnected to a video projector on site. Never tried this setup before. Will this just work or do I need to adjust any video settings on my Macbook Air?

    Hi glraczon.support,
It sounds like the external display you are using (projector) operates at a smaller resolution than your MacBook Pro. You may want to configure the display preferences in System Preferences for the external projector.
Here is an article that may help you with that process:

  • I want to Sync my iPhone 4 to iTunes however I get an error message from iTunes each time I connect the phone to the PC saying that I should restore to factory settings. Frustrating because it's already annoying enough that I can't drag and drop mp3's!!!

I have never been so frustrated before in my life with any phone. I find it obnoxious as it is that I cannot simply drag and drop files (especially MP3's) straight from my PC directly into my phone, which I have been used to doing up until now. Everyone who convinced me to get the iPhone has instructed me that my frustration can be fixed by downloading iTunes and syncing it all up via that program (which I have never used before). So, I downloaded the program successfully, however when I connect the iPhone 4 to the PC and iTunes is open, I get an error message that 'iTunes cannot read the content of the iPhone "iPhone" and that I should go to the Preferences tab of the iPhone and select 'restore' to restore this phone to factory settings. First of all, I don't understand why I need to do that. I have already downloaded apps and other important things in the 2 days that I have the phone. I am also scared that it will erase my contacts. This is such a headache. Music is very imporatant to me, but I am getting so frustrated that I don't have freedom over the phone which I thought was supposed to be one of the best out there. I would really appreciate help in this matter. I am sure the phone is great but I am on the verge of taking it back and getting something else.

    Hey joshuafromisr,
If you resintall iTunes, it should fix the issue. The following document will go over how to remove iTunes fully and then reinstall. Depending on what version of Windows you're running you'll either follow the directions here:
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925
    or here:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7

  • Settings for capture excise invoice in MIGO and other settings

    Hi,
For excise invoice capture and post procedure which we are following is as follow
1 : For Local Excise invoice
After receving goods from Vendor  first we are Doing J1IEX Part 1,  Capture excise invoice  after saving this we are getting part 1 number,  then we are making GR with MB01 ref. to part 1 number , then qyuality inspection then updating material in Unrestricted stock from quality  afetr that we are doing J1IEX  poat  PART 2  here we are getting part 2 number  then invoice verification,
    2 : For import PO
First MIRO for custom delivery cost we are getting MIRO number,  then J1IEX part 1 ref. to MIRO number and year  then MB01, ref. to part 1 of J1IEX then quality quality to store then J1IEX Part 2 then MIRO for vendor.
now in many thread i read about capture invoice in MIGO   so i want to know the detail settings which required to be made so that we can perform our ruoutin in short time.
    regards,
      zafar

    hi
    >is there will be any effect in our existing procedure We want to follow both for some time , after that we will do only in MIGO,
yes u can use both simultniously
but in MIGO if u capture,  the step of updation J1i5 will be ommited (it will take palce automatically)
like currently ur doing capture >update >post
in migo only capture and then post
    >second think is that now while posting the capture excise invoice in J1IEX we rae entering part 1 number, so can we do woth >this while capturing it thorugh migo or we have to post with vendor excise invoice number only.
You can do capture and post simultaniously in migo only
the separate transaction is given as persons or users  may be diffrent for GR and excise
if the same user want to do the GR and cap and posting then yes he can
for capture and posting u also have to tick Post Excise Invoice Captured in MIGO in excise grp settings
    regards
