SEVERE: Caught an exception while invoking method 'setFlag' on object 'Lock

While try to run load test data , I got the exception as follows..
SEVERE: Caught an exception while invoking method 'setFlag' on object 'LockManager'. Releasing locks.
java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException
Finally I got a hint ,
"If the running Deployment Template script breaks halfway through its execution due to an unhandled
exception, or is manually interrupted by a user pressing Ctrl-C while it is running, the lock remains
set within the EAC"
The resolution is ,
On Windows: .\runcommand.bat LockManager releaseLock
update_lock
On UNIX: ./runcommand.sh LockManager releaseLock up¬
date_lock

After spending some time on this, I looked at the source code for com.evermind.server.ThreadState
This is the code that throws the exception:
if(applicationThread != null && applicationThread.httpHandler != null && applicationThread.servletInfo != null)
try
server = applicationThread.httpHandler.request.getApplication().getApplication().getServer();
catch(Throwable t)
System.out.println("caught exception while getting the server instance " + t.getMessage());
t.printStackTrace(System.out);
It looks like this method expects a httpRequest, and would find null because I'm in the servlet.init()
(at least, that's my interpretation)
I tested my code (the remoteFacade.create()) inside of a jsp, and it worked...
So, the next logical question is:
Can I make EJB calls from within the init method of a servlet? (or more specifically from a struts plugin, which I believe should be more or less the same thing)
If so, do I need to take extra steps?
Again, any experience/help on this will be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Christophe.

  • Exception while proccessing method SMARTSYNC

    Hi,
    Sometimes I get the following exception when synchronizing MAM 2.5 with the Middleware:
    <i>- Exception while proccessing method SMARTSYNC : com.sap.ip.me.smartsync.sync.InboundTransformException: java.lang.NullPointerException : java.lang.NullPointerException</i>
    In the middleware logs I get the following messages:
    <i>- Container with unknown conversation id 1F2CF32B02C80D4582A950480C3CAFAF for method SMARTSYNC received
    - inbound processing for conversation id 1F2CF32B02C80D4582A950480C3CAFAF / 1F2CF32B02C80D4582A950480C3CAFAF stopped, because some containers could not be processed
    - Exception while proccessing method SMARTSYNC (root cause: java.lang.NullPointerException [com.sap.ip.me.smartsync.sync.InboundTransformException])</i>
    But it the next synch it works properly and without any problem. Does anyone had seen this? Any idea why this exception is shown? Thanks in advance.

    The current level for middleware is WEB AS 6.40 SP13, SAP BASIS 6.40 SP13, SAP ABA 6.40 SP13, SAP BW 3.50 SP 13, PI BASIS 2004 1 640 SP10. I think these are the latest one.
    I check the SAP Note 774061 and the modifications are in place. Later on I will check the Composite Note for this SP level.

  • JSR 172: error while invoking methods of same signature

    Hi
    I am facing a peculiar problem which is not making sense to me. This is what I have done:
    1. Written a simple web service that has two methods: sayHello and sayHellToMe. Both these methods have same signatures. They do not take in any parameter and return a string.
    2. Deployed this web service (document/literal) type on Axis 1.2
    3. Generated the stub classes from the wsdl file using Sun Wireless Toolkit's Stub Generator
    4. I have now written a MIDlet that uses this stub class to invoke both the methods one after the other.
    I enabled SOAPMonitor on Axis and saw the SOAP Request and SOAP Response messages. I observed the following:
    1. In the first method: sayHello - everything works fine (with a few tweaks in the Stub class)
    2. However, while invoking the second method sayHelloToMe, the SOAP Body tag in the SOAP Request does not contain any method name. I checked out the Stub class, the qnames and the types are all correct..
    I also realized that this behavior is seen only when I have methods with the same signature in the web service. Any idea why this might be happening? It seems like a very weird problem.
    Any help in this regard will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Arati

    The 'numeric or value error' is one we have seen many times. The problem has been identified and fixed. Refer to this thread for more information.

    Hello,
    There is not enough information in your post to determine an exact
    cause. When you say the web services are working fine, do you mean from
    the home/test page? What version of WLS? Is this with a static or
    dynamic client. I'm a bit concerned about what seem to be stubs showing
    up on the traceback that would indicate another SOAP stack (com.hp.ws)
    could you tell us a bit more about your configuration.
    Thanks,
    Bruce

  • 'Class Cast Exception' while invoking a EJB from a Servlet

              Hi,
              I am working on J2EE applications.I am using Webgain studio and weblogic server.I
              got a problem while invoking EJB from the servlet.
              While calling an EJB from the servlet, it is giving that "Class Cast Exception".This
              is because, the remote home reference is not able to type casted to the"Home Interface"
              of the EJB, even if I type casted explicitly. It is creating the context and able
              to identify the EJB with the JNDI name.
              Could please help me in solving this problem.I am pasting the code here.
              Thanks in advance,
              Dharma

                   throws ServletException, IOException
                        resp.setContentType("text/html");

  • Invoking Methods to receive Object.Please Respond

    Hello there,
    What is the advantage of defining methods that
    return an object ?
    For e.g,the InetAddress class has no constructors.Rather
    we need to call the getByName() method whch returns an
    InetAddress Object.
    What is the advantage of doing this? Is this the way
    we define factory methods which return objects?
    So can we say that the InetAddress Class is a factory class?
    Regards

    This class serves however as its own factory, in the
    sense, that objects of this type can be obtained with
    the help of the folling methods:
    static InetAddress[] getAllByName(String host)
    Determines all the IP addresses of a host,
    f a host, given the host's name.
    static InetAddress getByName(String host)
    Determines the IP address of a host, given
    st, given the host's name.
    I am not so sure if either of these methods qualify as factory methods, their main purpose is not the creation of the object(s), but to find particular instances based on some criteria, the fact that they may or may not be created as a result of calling these methods is purely incidental. In my humble opinion that is...

  • Null Pointer exception while invoking BPEL process

    Hi all,
    I am getting following exception when I am invoking a BPEL process1 (deployed in 10.1.3.1) from another BPEL Process 2 (deployed in 10.1.3.3)
    <env:Envelope xmlns:env="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/">
    <env:Header/>
    <env:Body>
    <env:Fault xmlns:env="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/">
    <faultcode>env:Server</faultcode>
    <faultstring>java.lang.NullPointerException</faultstring>
    <faultactor/>
    </env:Fault>
    </env:Body>
    </env:Envelope>
    BPEL Process 1 is working fine when given manual input (testing through console). But when invoked using BPEL Process 2, it gives the above error. I also tried invoking BPEL Process 1 (and many other webservices deployed in 10.1.3.1) using TCPMON tool and got the same error.
    Am I missing something here in configuration of 10.1.3.1 or any other issue? Please help as it is really urgent.

    I have just upgraded to service pack #13 on WLS 5.1 from service pack #6.I am using the same code as it was with SP #6. When I invoke finder method
    on entity bean, I get null pointer exception. The primary key object for the
    entity bean has equals() method.
    javax.ejb.FinderException: Exception executing finder:java.lang.NullPointerException
    atweblogic.ejb.internal.StatefulEJBCache.getFinderContext(StatefulEJBCache.jav
    a:264)
    atweblogic.ejb.internal.StatefulEJBCache.getEJBContext(StatefulEJBCache.java:3
    54)
    Check if equals() method can handle null parameter.
