Shared Services - Cluster name specified is invalid

I'm trying to give a user access to run a calc script (11.1.2) -when I go into Shared Services to launch "assign access control" I get the message "Cluster name [Essbase: MyServer name:1] specified is invalid". How do I correct this? or am I going about this the wrong way?
Thanks,
Paul

You can use grant Maxl command.
grant execute 'Sample'.'Basic'.'nu' to user 'admin';
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17236_01/epm.1112/esb_tech_ref/frameset.htm?maxl_grant.html
Is Essbase working fine? Which url are you using to launch Shared Services?

  • LCM Migration - Instance name?  Shared services project Name ? Data source?

    Situation
    * We have hyperion 11.1.1.3.24
    * Objective - trying to perform a LCM file-migration from our DEV environment to UAT
    * DEV has only one PMA enabled Planning Application (“budget”), few FR reports & other related artifacts.
    So far
    * Successfully Exported these 4 (EPMA, Shared-services, Planning & FR) from our DEV
    * When trying to import EPMA into our UAT, noticed the status shows Failed. (Noticed Similar claims have been reported in other posts as well.)
    Another dilemma that I have it what should I enter on these Instance Name, Shared services Project name & Data source.
    * Instance Name ===> ? Not sure. how to find this?
    * Shared services project ===> Haven't created one at all. So, which one should I use OR how to find this out ?
    * Data Source ===> I guess, this would be the EPMA repository database name ?
    Although I can Migrate all the Artifacts into our UAT (as identical to our DEV), Migration status has shown as "Failed". Is this because of the fact I skipped the Destination options with blank values (for Instance, shared-services & data-source). Has anyone ever had success on this Migration step.
    OR Should I disregard this migration status, just because we can see all identical artifacts in our UAT.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    If you log into EPMA and pick an application and select deploy (don't worry you don't have to deploy you can cancel it before you do so),
    it will display a popup which will have the
    Instance Name (usually default), Shared Services Project (drop down will display different application groups available), Data Source (this is the name you gave when you created the datasource for the application)

  • DRM Integration with Shared services

    Hi,
    Could someone help me how to integrate DRM with Shared services? Is there any document which helps me with the same?
    Thanks
    Arathi.

    Hi Arathi,
    You'll be delighted to hear that I found a solution to your question.
    1. Create a user in DRM and select to manage user in "Active Directory", LDAP or NTLM.
    2. Create the same user in Shared Services (same name u wrote in DRM), give it a password then you're done.
    3. When you log into DRM, it will use the shared services password.
    It kinda bothered me that's why i gave it a thought and did a lil bit of reading to find it out. Hope you get it right.

  • Cluster network name resource 'Cluster Name' failed registration of one or more associated DNS name(s) for the following reason: The handle is invalid.

    I'm stuck here trying to figure this error out.
    2003 domain, 2012 hyper v core 3 nodes.  (I have two of these hyper V groups, hvclust2012 is the problem group, hvclust2008 is okay)
    In Failover Cluster Manager I see these errors, "Cluster network name resource 'Cluster Name' failed registration of one or more associated DNS name(s) for the following reason:  The handle is invalid."
    I restarted the host node that was listed in having the error then another node starts showing the errors.
    I tried to follow this site:  http://blog.subvertallmedia.com/2012/12/06/repairing-a-failover-cluster-in-windows-server-2012-live-migration-fails-dns-cluster-name-errors/
    Then this error shows up when doing the repair:  there was an error repairing the active directory object for 'Cluster Name'
    I looked at our domain controller and noticed I don't have access to local users and groups.  I can access our other hvclust2008 (both clusters are same version 2012).

    I came upon this thread:  http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/85fc2ad5-b0c0-41f0-900e-df1db8625445/windows-2012-cluster-resource-name-fails-dns-registration-evt-1196?forum=winserverClustering
    Now, I'm stuck on adding a managed service account (mas).  I'm not sure if I'm way off track to fix this.  Any advice?  Thanks in advance!
    <image here>

    Thanks Elton,
    I restarted 3 hosts after applying the hotfix.  Then I did the steps below and got stuck on step 5.  That is when I get the error (image above).  There
    was an error repairing the active directory object for 'Cluster Name'.  For more data, see 'Information Details'.
    To reset the password on the affected name resource, perform the following steps:
    From Failover Cluster Manager, locate the name resource.
    Right-click on the resource, and click Properties.
    On the Policies tab, select If resource fails, do not restart, and then click OK.
    Right-click on the resource, click More Actions, and then click Simulate Failure.
    When the name resource shows "Failed," right-click on the resource, click More Actions, and then click Repair.
    After the name resource is online, right-click on the resource, and then click Properties.
    On the Policies tab, select If resource fails, attempt restart on current node, and then click OK.

  • Shared Services database content not found in the specified database - EPM

    I installed three VM machines (Workstation) for the following on Windows 2003 OS:
    VM1 : Oragle DB 11g, Shared Services. Workspace
    VM2 : Financial Management, EPMA, Calc Manager
    VM3 : Microsoft Active Directory
    I have configured Database and Shared services successfully and all machines talk to one another.
    Also, I created the appropriate table spaces for the Hyperion products with the right access on the database. And, I am able to connect from the client (VM 2 to the Database VM 1)using SQLplus.
    When I tried to configure Financial Management, using the EPM System Configurator and put in the following values:
    Database Type: Oracle
    Server: VMDatabase (Name of VM1)
    Port: 1521
    SID ORCL
    Username: HFM
    password: *********
    It returned the error message: "*Shared Services database content not found in the specified database*"
    Can someone please help on what I need to check, Please!?
    Thanks for your time.

    Hi,
    Information from Oracle Support:
    Shared Services database content not found in specified database
    Cause
    There is a flag in the shared services repository that indicates the shared services database is to be used as a registry. If that flag is not set, the configtool will not re-configure the database as a shared services repository.
    Solution
    Note: Make sure the Shared Services repository is backed up before doing any Shared Services Registry changes.
    The registry flag isRegistryDB must exist and be set to true on the Shared Services Database Connection.
    epmsys_registry.bat VIEW DATABASE_CONN
    Find the shared services database registry entry. The entry in bold will be missing. The italicized item is the 'unique_id' referenced later (different in each installation).
    COMPONENT - 3
    NAME - Database:ORCL:HSS
    ID - +11d1def534ea1be07ad8eb3012d2e3d310a7ff4+
    TYPE - DATABASE_CONN
    HOST - Database
    HYPERION HOME - /home/hypadmin/Oracle/Middleware/EPMSystem11R1
    PROPERTIES -
    isRegistryDB = true
    dbUserName = HSS
    dbJDBCDriverProperty = oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver
    dbJdbcUrl = jdbc:oracle:thin:@Database:1521:ORCL
    registryDatasource = EPMSystemRegistry
    registryDatasourceJNDI = jdbc/EPMSystemRegistry
    dbName = ORCL
    version = 9.5.0.0
    dbPort = 1521
    instance_home = /home/hypadmin/Oracle/Middleware/user_projects/epmsystem1
    dbPassword = GABaMyyplja+wLNCmLs8ag==
    Run the following update to populate the isRegistryDB flag with the unique_id being the ID field used in the DATABASE_CONN registry entry.
    epmsys_registry.bat addproperty #unique_id/@isRegistryDB true
    Repeat the epmsys_registry VIEW DATABASE_CONN to make sure the flag is now set.
    You will be able to reconfigure the shared services repository.
    You can mark it as Answer/Helpful if you feel so.
    Cheers!

  • Shared Services database content not found in the specified database."

    Trying to configure Version 11 and get the error: "Shared Services database content not found in the specified database". Relevant details on my issue as below:
    - I'm running Windows 7 and SQL Server 2008 on my local machine.
    - I did have a previous installation of Hyperion 9 on my machine which I uninstalled before installing 11. However, after uninstalling, I could still see the Hyperion EPM (empty folders) in my "All Programs", which I manually deleted.
    - Now I've installed Essbase 11, and for now am trying to configure Hyperion Foundation only (Common Settings and Configure Database is greyed out, I checked deploy to applicaiton server. I left the calculation manager and workspace blank).
    - The next window is the "Configure Shared Services and Database Registry" option. I chose "Perform 1st time Configuration of Shared Services Database". When I enter the relevant details, I got the error mentioned above. My error log file entries are as below:

    I believe version 11 supports Windows 7, but correct me if I'm wrong. What's going on here? Any suggestions on what I should try ?

    Actually when I installed version 9, I never got around to configuring shared services and so never had a shared services database in SQL Server to begin with.
    One question about the registry entry you told me to delete: The (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Hyperion Solutions) which currently exists would be the entry for version 11 which I have installed right? It's the only entry for Hyperion Solutions in the registry.
    After uninstalling versino 9, C:/hyperion still existed on my machine (though it didnt have all the subfolders which it did prior to uninstalling), so I manually deleted it before installing verison 11.
    I wouldn't mind installing it on a compatible version of windows, but the thing is that at this point this is all that is available to me.
    and I don't have any other oracle products.
    thanks....

  • Maximum length of security group name in Shared Services

    Hi All,
    We are about to migrate to a v11.1.2 Hyperion environment and would like to centralise our security management for our HFM\Planning\Essbase\etc applications to Hyperion Shared Services.
    We'd like to formulate the security group in a particular way so as to allow anyone to know exactly what Hyperion Product, application, role and entity access a security group grants access to ... just by looking at the security gorup name. Obviously, we'd like not to have too long\lengthy a security group name.
    As such, I would like to know if anyone has ever come across or knows of any limitations in the number of characters used to name security groups in HSS. If yes, what is the maximum number of characters which can be used to name a security group????
    Thanks in advance.

    * If you are using a DB2 database, the user name must contain at least 8 characters. User names should not exceed 256 characters (Oracle and SQL Serve databases), and 1000
    characters (DB2).
    * Group name should have a maximum 256 characters. Group names should contain a minimum of 8 characters if Native Directory is hosted on DB2 databases.

  • Essbase server is invalid. Not registered with Shared Services

    Hi,
    I am trying to deploy EPMA Essbase application after we upgrade to 11.1.2.2 from 11.1.2.0. I get this error.
    Application server '<Server>:1423' is invalid. It is not registered with Shared Services.

    Hi,
    We were able to resolve the issue. The "Invalid Deployment Information" test in the application diagnostics failed. We had to synchronize the deployment data and later we were able to validate the application.

  • Swapping the DNS names - How does the Shared Services behaves

    Hi Essbase God's
    I have one more situation here. I have four hosts runing on VM ware.
    1 # host - prod server whsoe security setup is provisioned by a prod shared service host
    2 # host - Dr server whsoe security setup is provisioned by a dr shared service host
    I will be sync'ng DR cubes on daily basis with Prod host . Say My Prod Host is down.
    How wud shared services behave if i do the below.
    1. Bring donw the prod shared services on Prod shared services box
    2. modify the DNS name of the DR host to Prod host ( here Dr will now acts as prod)
    3. Birng up the prod shared services on Prod shared services box
    I may be sounding dumb.
    will i be abel to connect to prod host ( in real this is DR) and ask user to do activities.
    Pls advice
    MS

    Hi,
    You don't need the desktop. You can log in directly from the laptop to the remote desktop services server. This is a lot easier to manage, since there is only 1 place to manage instead of multiple. Of course, you will want to provide a couple of servers
    because if you have 1 server and it goes down, you have nothing.
    Visual studio is licensed per user. Yes, you can install it on the RDP server and all users could use it if they are part of the correct groups. But from a licensing point of view, you would be non compliant. It would be us to you to manage the users and
    make sure that there are enough licenses for all users.
    How, and if this applies to other programs depends on the licensing terms of those programs. Some software is per user. Some is per concurrent user, and some is per computer. You have to check this for each program you want to install on the computer.
