SharePoint hosted app issue - This page cannot be displayed

Hi All, need help on below issue,
When I deploy SharePoint hosted app from Visual Studio 2012, it generated app web URL and that opens the app properly. But, if I upload .app file after
publish in Visual Studio 2012 to App Catalog and added new app based on my SharePoint hosted app. When try to click on app, saying ‘This page can’t be displayed’ in internet explorer. I don’t think so it will be issue with app domain as the app working fine
if deploy from visual studio. Thanks in advance for your help.

It may still be an issue with the app domain, actually with DNS. When you deploy from VS 2012 it automatically adds the appropriate DNS entries to the Hosts file on your VS 2012 PC. That way the App domain can be resolved and you can reach the
site. When you deploy by uploading to the App Catalog that entry in the HOsts file is not created. Instead you should ahve already added the App domain and a wildcard entry to the DNS server used in your network. If that wasn't done then
you will get exactly the behavior you describe.
Take a look at the section on DNS in the following article. Make sure you've followed all the instructions.

Hi,
After moving my files from SP 2010 to SP 2013 , for all my web parts i am getting A webpart or web form control on this page cannot be displayed or imported.The type could not be found or it is not registered as safe. error. I checked web.config files
and they are there as safe control and trust level is also full.
These webparts work in 2010.
Do i need to tweak something in code or distributed cache to make this thing work? The errors i see are

According to your description, my understanding is that the error occurred when you deployed the .wsp files to SharePoint 2013.
I recommend to check if all the assemblies are put into the BIN and GAC.

This page cannot be displayed - web connectivity problem

Just purchased an HP laptop with Windows 8 and IE 10.
I am connecting to my wireless connection because I can login and use Yahoo messenger, but cannot access any websites. When open IE, get the error: This page cannot be displayed.
There is an option to Fix Connection Issues - tried this and get the following results:
Problem with wireless adaptor or access point (not fixed)
Your computer appears to be correctly configured, but the device or resource (www.msn.com) is not responding.
Searched Google and there was a suggestion to flush the dns using command: ipconfig \flushdns. Did this, rebooted and then the home website does come up (www.msn.com). However, if I click any link on the site, I then get back to the same 'This page cannot be displayed' message.
Anyone else having this same issue or have any suggestions for resolving?

I'm sorry your new laptop isn't working! I think I have some solutions for you and hopefully resolve your issue quickly.
(Make sure your time and date are correct!)
First, reset your router. This is done by unplugging the power from your router and modem. Once ALL the lights on both are out, wait a few seconds. Plug the modem back in, wait for the lights to come on, then the router. Give it time to access the device and assign IP addresses (this takes up to 4 minutes with some models). Once completed, try to reconnect using your HP laptop.
If that does not work, manually reset your IP address by using the command prompt (search for it using the search option on the right menu),
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
This should flush the IP address. You have already reset the DNS, and you may do so again just to clear everything.
If that still does not work, hook the Ethernet cable directly into your laptop and see if it can get online. If it does, then it is a wireless connection issue and you should either return it OR have Geek Squad take a look. If it doesn't work, then either your router will NOT assign an IP address properly due to the computer having the same IP or Name as another computer on your network, or the computer could have a winsoc issue. In this case, you would have to restore the computer or
go to :
microsoft.com/fixit
And use there fix. Download it on another computer, burn to DVD/CD or drop it to a flash drive, then use it on the computer giving you the issue.

SharePoint 2007 custom (VS 2008) solution is upgraded to SharePoint 2013 using (VS 2012). I followed this approach.

According to your description, my understanding is that you got an error after you re-built a SharePoint 2007 solution with VS2012, and deployed it.
Make sure the Namespace and Type Name are consistent across all files where indicated. Also with matching case sensitivity. Verify web.config file and assembly in GAC or virtual directory bin folder in post deployment.

We have an SharePoint services 3.0 installation that uses custom web parts on 100s of subsites. The custom web parts on any website is presenting this error

This past weekend we decided to create a new database server and migrate the databases to the new server in an effort to retire an old box.
INitially we attempted to go through the configuration wizard which didnt do anything but add a new database server to our farm. What we have done is remove the new database server from the farm and use an alias on the SP server to continue to use
the same name but actually get its data from the new database server.
Everything works with the site except these custom webparts.
Any thoughts on where to go to first, should i redeploy what i think are the webparts from VS 2005 (solutions are VS 2005 slns.)?

You need to make Safe Control enteries in your web.config for the particular web application.
Open web.config
Locate the SafeControls Tag
Make a safe control entry

In order to find the assembly details, Open the GAC. Right click on your dll and then click properties.

"This page cannot be displayed error"

When I attempt to use the preview site feature, I am getting a "This page cannot be displayed smate sure the web address http//### is correct" error. Last night, I tried the feature and while it showed the page it only showed an earlier preview, none of my updates were visible. I'm thinking the two are related (Using Windows 8). Can anyone here give me a hand? Thank you in advance for your help.

I'm new to Muse and was having this problem as well. I came across this forum while searching for a solution. I solved my problem by opening internet explorer, going to the menu bar then Tools>Internet options>Security. In the Security panel I unchecked the box for Enable protected mode(require restarting internet explorer). This worked for me. I then turned the checkbox back on after I was done previewing my page. I'll just have to remember to do this while previewing my sites. I do have additional internet security so I'm not sure if I can leave this box unchecked all the time.

WebUtil and "This page cannot be displayed"

After installing WebUtil, using the steps in the Familiarization manual and the notes in the Readme.txt file, when I ran a previously working form in the Builder, Internet Explorer complains the page cannot be displayed. I have reviewed the install steps, but I could not find what I did wrong.
What should I be looking for to correct this error? Thanks much.

Ok, I got the problem fixed. In the Familiarization manual, it says to add to the orion-web.xml file the following statement to create a virtual directory:
<virtual-directory virtual-path="/webutil" real-path="c:/webutil/lib" />
I changed the line to:
<virtual-directory virtual-path="/forms90/webutil" real-path="c:/webutil/lib" />
And it works.

LYNC 2013 control panel error: this page cannot be displayed

Dear sir,
Now i am suffering with the lync 2013 control panel problem, i cannot open it and got the error "This page can't be displayed" as below screenshot shows,
I've tried some ways, but still same problem
1. Reflush the dns, checked the A record and SRV record of the FE are normally.
2. checked the IIS and also cannot find any problem.
3, reboot the FE server/IIS, and AD.
4. i can open the console page normally via web :https://localhost/cscp
5. i can ping the FE server domain name and return the right IP info.

In addition, can you open the page via
https://admin.domain.com ?
Also please try to clear IE cache and treat the FQDNs for admin, pool or FE server name as trusted zone.

EBS 12.1.3 Login page issue or page cannot be displayed

When I try the login page using http://host.domain/OA_HTML/AppsLocalLogin.jsp or http://host.domain/OA_HTML/AppsLogin, then the browser is displaying page can not be displayed.
When I try to run AOL/J Diagnostic Tests, using http://host.domain/OA_HTML/jsp/fnd/aoljtest.jsp, then I did not find any issues.
When I try to run AOL/J Setup Test, under Verify DBC Settings, there is a WARNING: Security in database set to "SECURE". If the DBC file contains the wrong APPL_SERVER_ID, then no JDBC connections will be possible via AOL/J.
But under Verify Guest Settings, there is an ERROR saying :Failed to validate GUEST user in Profiles.
Please help what is causing the login screen not able to show up.

Never mind, it was a port conflict. I tried to change the http port # to default port #80 to a cloned copy. By flipping it to a different port and then run the autoconfig, resolved the issue.

How to get inputted value in a RTE field on custom page and submit by REST call in 'Sharepoint hosted app'.

Hi I am facing the three questions below.
1. How to use default RTE in custom page in Sharepoint hosted app.
I saw the article of Rich text Editor (ribbon based) in a webpart in SharePoint 2013 and tried it. But it did not work well. I guess it needs code-behind setting, however sharepoint hosted app does not support code-behind.
Does anybody know how to do this?
2. In above case, I placed the below code on custom page and tried to get the field's value when submit button was clicked.

According to your description, you might want to use Rich Text Editor control in your SharePoint hosted app.
First of all, I would suggest you post one question in one thread to make it easier to be discussed, which would also help you get a quick solution.
Though we can add this control into a SharePoint hosted app, however, as we can’t add code behind for it, plus with the potential compatibility issues in different
browsers, I would suggest you use other JavaScript Rich Text Editor plugins instead.

If you want to submit the value of Rich Text Editor control to a SharePoint list using REST call, since the content in the Multiple Line of Text column is wrapped

How to open List when Page loads in SharePoint Hosted App?

I want to create an app same like InstantPracticeManager by InstantQuick.
Now I want to know that in a SharePoint Hosted App How can I show the Whole List in a page.
Here I have added one image:
Here there is one list and there are 4 views of that list.
Now the App will be like when I load the page It will show like the image above. Now how can we show the list like this in sharepoint hosted app?

According to your post, my understanding is that you want to show the different list view in a page in SharePoint Hosted App.

Issue with REST POST call: CopyTo in a SharePoint hosted App not working

I have been really struggling to get a cross domain copy to work both in an App or even using REST Tools such as Postman or Google Advanced REST Client.
Ok there are various blog posts by Scott G et al. that shows how you can post say in a single domain. Now that's fairly straight forward
in my case I took a .apsx page and added the following lines of code - Checkin - refresh and great the file gets copied via the document ready function

Now I make the call in my SharePoint hosted App and I simple can' t get this to work. Fiddler doesn't exactly help a lot

I can happily run a GET and see the properties of my file but POST no way. Curriously, when I try to run the same command for say Google Advanced Rest Client I get nowhere
Is this a new mensa test!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have now tested against a trail Office 365 Developer site and I had to make a few adjustments
- change the url
- change the target to SharePoint Onlne
- change the url
I still wasn't happy so I created a new SharePoint Hosted app and pointed at the above developer site. I copied my CrossDomainExec.js and stripped all my code except my CopyItemInSameLIbrary method which hasn't changed since I created this post.
- changed the App Manifest permissions to Web -full Control ( was previously tenant)
I still got errors which is really painful as you don't even see the POST request in Fiddler
The URL used for my POST is as follows ( note host URL is fictitious)

Ran the app a second time and now I see......Wow it WORKS!!!!!! ..Can't be true can it?
.... next I will switch the target url to my on prem farm to see if this still works so watch this space!

Issue with Workflow in a SharePoint-hosted App Application

Hi,
I have created a Sharepoint-hosted app which has a list workflow in it. After I deploy it to the sharepoint server, I can not find any workflow under the associated list.
However, I did have target list associated with workflow in workflow project property.
(My app and worflow is developed in VS 2012)
I have searched the forum and found some similar question. However, all of them don't have useful answers.....
Can anyone give me some help~?

I can reproduce your scenario, that create an app with list, and add a workflow associates with it, the workflow is not working, that seems doesn’t associates successfully.
Before I can tell why this happens, I found a helpful blog about keeping the list definitions and workflow definitions separate, use Handle APP installed event receiver to wire up a workflow to lists in app web or host web.
As it is not a good solution to deploy the list and workflow in the same app solution, because that if you redeploy the app the date will be lost, the list will be new created, so I would suggest you to reference the blog, check whether this can meet your
requirement.
