Sharepont Designer saves AND/OR CAML Query groups incorrectly

My objective is to display active tasks on a certain date: Started on or before and Due on or after; Started on or before and not Completed.  The date is provided via a webpart connection parameter.
I used CAML Designer 2013 and SP CAML Query 2013 to verify and then modified the Query string for the Tasks WebPart in Sharepoint Designer as follows:
<Query><Where>
<Or>
<And>
<Leq><FieldRef Name="StartDate"/><Value Type="DateTime">{ParmMeetingDate}</Value></Leq>
<Geq><FieldRef Name="DueDate"/><Value Type="DateTime">{ParmMeetingDate}</Value></Geq>
</And>
<And>
<Neq><FieldRef Name="Status"/><Value Type="Text">Completed</Value></Neq>
<Leq><FieldRef Name="StartDate"/><Value Type="DateTime">{ParmMeetingDate}</Value></Leq>
</And>
</Or>
</Where></Query>
However, when I save the page in SharePoint Designer, and edit the web page from the browser, the Filter criteria are:
Start date Less than or equal to {ParmMeetingDate}
AND DueDate Greater than or equal to
AND Task Status is not equal to Completed
OR Start Date is less than or equal to {ParmMeetingDate}
If I correct the settings in the browser and save, the Query String in SPD is changed to:
<Query><Where>
<Or><Or>
<And>
<Leq><FieldRef Name="StartDate"/><Value Type="DateTime">{ParmMeetingDate}</Value></Leq>
<Geq><FieldRef Name="DueDate"/><Value Type="DateTime">{ParmMeetingDate}</Value></Geq>
</And>
<Leq><FieldRef Name="StartDate"/><Value Type="DateTime">{ParmMeetingDate}</Value></Leq>
</Or>
<Neq><FieldRef Name="Status"/><Value Type="Text">Completed</Value></Neq>
</Or></Where></Query>
How can I get SPD/SP to save the CAML query correctly?

Update:  Another effect of the problem outlined above was that no results were displayed for any parameterised filter values - regardless of the query.
I came across a reference to the Server Render webpart attribute.  When this attribute is selected on the webpart a number of things happen:
The Timeline at the top of the Tasks list view webpart is switched off
The completed icon changes to a Yes/No value
The filters work!!!
Saving the filters works!!!
The List View Tools tab appears in SharePoint Designer!!!
I have no idea what the Server Render attribute is and/or why it is set off by default.  I don't why it affects the appearance of the List View Tools tab in the ribbon - I can't think of any reason why it should.  And I don't know why it affects
the filter query or why it should...
At a high level I presume the Server Render attribute tells sharepoint to process on the server rather than on the client.  It may make sense to pas the processing from the server to the client.  It makes no sense that this would restrict functionality
(disable List View Tolls in SPD) or produce different results (no results in Filtered webpart).
Do you know if this issue has been identified as a bug; has it been resolved?

  • SQL Dev 2.1:Ability to save and load visual query models?

    At SQL Dev 2.1, do we now have the ability to save and load visual query models as with TOAD? Or has that functionality been rolled into the for-pay Data Modeler extension? Seemed strange to hide the functionality deep within SQL Worksheet, then not allow query models to be saved or loaded. From what I recall, load/save was scheduled to be in 2.0.
    I've not yet downloaded and installed 2.1, but also as I recall, it was promised to be a significant (e.g. new-feature rich) release. Has it lived up to that promise? Hoping also that it's not so buggy as to not merit an upgrade. At my workplace, folks have different versions of SQL Dev 1.X installed, each for the purpose of retaining functionality that got broken in future releases, etc. Would love to be able to advise them to retire their 1.X installs in favor of 2.1.

    Dana, We are working on the query builder. We have not done anything with it in recent releases as we knew that it needed completely overhauled and a
    couple of bug fixes were not going to give us the query builder we needed. Sue will be able to tell you more as the we get closer to releasing it as a feature.Thanks Barry. I know it's probably impossible to give firm dates, but my colleagues would love to know, ballpark, when query builder might be ready. Any particular year/quarter that's targeted for?
    A lot of the bugs in the 2.1 are probably my fault as we decided to build a framework which allowed tasks to be scheduled like eclipse and push them to the
    background. Coupled with this, we tore apart the worksheet to allow us to fit tasks in, but to also give us the ability to do some of the enhancement requests
    that you guys, our users, have been asking for. While its not perfect, I believe its getting much better from both a functionality and performance standpoint. The
    worksheet will not change again and there are no enhancements logged or scheduled which will do that. The issues that have come as part of 2.1 are being
    addressed and we are fixing the highest priority ones as we speak. One of my priorities is to make these components as rock solid as possible.Thanks again. It really is a nice tool to work with, and I'm grateful to have it. I would choose stability for existing features over new ones, but I suppose there always has to be a balance in development. What was really scary in the past was getting bizarre / wrong answers in query results--that's a complete show stopper; e.g. clicking on a row/col intersection in a result set row would show strange and false values. New features can wait, but core functionality must be solid. If one can't presume integrity of query results, it's game over--using a version of SQL Developer that returns inconsistent result sets between runs could be Considered Harmful, or so it is to me.
    Anyway, thanks for responding and I hope Oracle Corp gets you whatever assistance you need to improve the quality of existing functionality while adding new features; with one not being at the expense of the other. :-) Glad also to see Sue has authored a book on the tool. Hopefully that will drive customer demand and force increased allocation of development resources toward the product. I'd like to think having out-of-the-box tools that are a joy to use might even increase market share.
    Data Modeler I would love to use, but am completely priced out of it. Enterprise Architect from Sparx Systems is the best value there so far as I can tell.

  • Easiest way to know the query group name?

    Hello All,
    This has been nagging at me for quite some time now. Would appreciate you inputs on the ways to find out the query group name for a set of queries we see on the UI.
    The obvious method is to search your query group from the list of query groups that system shows when we navigate to Setup->Queries and Reports->Query Groups. Do we have some other ways as well.
    Thanks In Advance
    Devesh

    Hi Devesh,
    If you know the query definition then the easiest way to find the query group would be to use "Search Query Groups by Queries Used" query on the Query Groups list page. This query allows you to select a query definition and returns the query group using the query.
    Or you could use "Query Group Review" query on the Query Groups list page. This returns all queries within all Query Groups. You can further refine your search by Query Name or Internal Name of the query you are interested in.
    If you want to do a general search for all buy-side list page or buy-side picker page query groups, search for <buylist> and <buypick> respectively.
    Hope this helps.

    Vikram

  • Sum and group by using CAML query

    Is there any way to get the SUM of values with group by ID using CAML query?
    I have a custom list, in that I have ID and Value columns as below
          ID         Value1      Value2
          1             10             4
          2              5              3
          1             15             2

         ID          Value1        Value2
         1             25                6
         2             5                  3
         3             20                1
    I used CAML query:

    this query returns all the records

    You need to work with current view based aggregation. Please check below threads for your reference.

  • Caml query to check current logged in user - SharePoint designer

    Hi,
    I need to create a caml query in SharePoint designer to satisfy the below conditions.
    If the logged in user (current user) is a member of a specific group. e.g. Group Name = ISS Owners, ID=5
    (OR)
    If the logged in user (current user) exists in assigned to field. e.g. Field Name = Assigned To
    Reference to the below link is not working for my solutions.

    CAML Query – Membership attribute
    Kindly help in resolving caml query issue.
    Anandhan.S Remember to 'mark or propose as answer' or 'vote as helpful' as appropriate.

    The second condition is pretty straightforward
    <Eq>
    <FieldRef Name="AssignedTo"/>
    <Value Type="Integer">
    <UserID />
    </Value>
    </Eq>
    but I don't think you can do the former. The <Membership> condition can only be applied to a <FieldRef>, not a generic <Value> argument.
    But what would be the purpose of the first condition in the first place? It's invariant, not related to specific list items. Or is the requirement to return all items if the user is a member of a group (Administrators?), but only assigned-To items if not:
    If so, is there some way you can refactor the check for the former condition into some higher level logic?

  • CAML Query with 10 AND conditions

    Hello,
    I need some help with a CAML query. This particular query needs to have 10 AND conditions. Quite frankly, with all the nesting it is driving me a little nuts:
    What I have is:
    <Query>
    <Where>
    <And>
    <And>
    <And>
    <And>
    <And>
    <And>
    <And>
    <And>
    <And>
    <Eq><FieldRef Name='Column1' LookupId='TRUE' /><Value Type='Text'>10341</Value></Eq>
    <Eq><FieldRef Name='Column2' LookupId='TRUE' /><Value Type='Text'>9539</Value></Eq>
    </And>
    <Eq><FieldRef Name='Column3' LookupId='TRUE' /><Value Type='Text'>183</Value></Eq>
    </And>
    <Eq><FieldRef Name='Column4' LookupId='TRUE' /><Value Type='Text'>35</Value></Eq>
    </And>
    <IsNull><FieldRef Name='Column5' /></IsNull>
    </And>
    <Eq><FieldRef Name='Column6' LookupId='TRUE' /><Value Type='Text'>4387</Value></Eq>
    </And>
    <Eq><FieldRef Name='Column7' LookupId='TRUE' /><Value Type='Text'>4204</Value></Eq>
    </And>
    <Eq><FieldRef Name='Column8' LookupId='TRUE' /><Value Type='Text'>36</Value></Eq>
    </And>
    <Eq><FieldRef Name='Column9' LookupId='TRUE' /><Value Type='Text'>213</Value></Eq>
    </And>
    <IsNull><FieldRef Name='Column10' /></IsNull>
    </And>
    </Where>
    </Query>
    I have added this into my ItemAdding Event Receiver as it will basically do a check for duplicate items based on the 10 columns.
    If anyone can help guide me in this, it would be much appreciated. I have been using a CAML Query Builder to help.

    Since you are not allowed to put more than two conditions in one condition group (And | Or) you have to create an extra nested group (MSDN). The expression
    A AND B AND C looks like this:
    <And>
    A
    <And>
    B
    C
    </And>
    </And>
    Your SQL like sample translated to CAML (hopefully with matching XML tags ;) ):
    <Where>
    <And>
    <Or>
    <Eq>
    <FieldRef Name='FirstName' />
    <Value Type='Text'>John</Value>
    </Eq>
    <Or>
    <Eq>
    <FieldRef Name='LastName' />

  • I want to write a CAML query on Id based on Ascending and Descending.

    Hi,
    i want to write a CAML query on Id based on Ascending and Descending.
    Can i write CAML query using both Ascending and Descending?
    Actually my requirement is if i changed the id, Ascending and Descending will perform based on this id.

    Hi,
    Do you want to retrieve a set of items which are sorted based on the value of the ID column using CAML query statement?
    If this is the case, you can compose and test the CAML query statement with the help of
    CAML Designer which with a Graphic User Interface provided:

  • Retrieve All records and display in Report using CAML query in Report Builder if Parameter value is blank

    Hello Experts,
    i have created a report where i have one parameter field where user will pass parameter(e.g. EmpId). As per parameter record will fetched to report if no parameter is passed then it will display all records. I have done it by taking SqlServer Database as datasource.
    by using Following method
    Now i would like to do it by taking Sharepoint List as Datasource. For that what would be the CAML Query.
    Here is my existing CAML query.
    <RSSharePointList xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">
      <ListName>Employees</ListName>
      <ViewFields>
        <FieldRef Name="Title" />
        <FieldRef Name="FirstName" />
        <FieldRef Name="LastName" />
        <FieldRef Name="FullName" />
        <FieldRef Name="UserName" />
        <FieldRef Name="Company" />
      </ViewFields>
      <Query>
        <Where>
    <Eq>
        <FieldRef Name="Title" />
      <Value Type="Text">
       <Parameter Name="EmployeeId"/>
    </Value>
    </Eq>
        </Where>
      </Query>
    </RSSharePointList>
    The above code is working if i am passing an employeeId to Parameter. If nothing is passed, it is Not retrieving any record.
    Please suggest
    Thank you

    Your problem follows the well-established pattern of using an "All" parameter filter in SSRS. There are a few approaches depending on the size of your data. The easiest one is to return all data from CAML and then filter it within SSRS, the following thread
    provides some examples,
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/18203317/show-all-records-some-records-based-on-parameter-value.
    Other options include passing all of the possible values within the CAML query when "All" is selected, using multiple Report Files to distinguish between both CAML queries, or to use multiple datasets with some logic to show/hide the correct one.

  • I understand the design change to the whole "save as app" tab, but I feel that Save and Quit feature from the previous version of Firefox is much better than this "app tab" feature. Is there anyway for me to have this back?

    Restore previous session button available on my Firefox homepage is great, but what I really want is the Save and Quit feature. I have always felt that its one of the best features of Firefox, second only to search address bar directly leading me to the actual page. I read some threads about this, and found the answers very unconvincing. One of the suggested ones was "Pin as app tab" . No, I don't want to pin every tab that I want to visit say, thrice as an app. Second suggestion was, click on the obvious button on the homepage to restore the tabs(this took me quite a while to actually see). Why this change in design? This is identical to Chrome's but its very inferior to what Firefox already had. Is there anyway, without downgrading of course, I can get that feature back?

    Okay, I found the answer myself. Going to about:config and setting browser.showQuitWarning to true, restored that option and brought it back. Thanks to anyone who is about to post. If this is false by default, it has got to change.

  • Query property "Save and reuse variable value" doesn't work in BW EHP1

    We have a workbook which contain 4 queries, every different worksheet is a different query.
    All the queries are on the Same InfoCube and all the queries use the same variables.
    In the properties of the query n.2 we set the parameter "Save and reuse variable values" then we refresh the 1st query and all work fine (the system asks the variable values) but when we refresh the 2nd query the system doesn't use the same variable values that we have inserted for the query n.1
    We don't have the same problem in 7.0.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Luca

    Hi,
    I suppose, you need to set the 'Save and reuse variable values' for each query individually in the workbook. I am not sure however there is a option where you can specify to apply the settings of one query to all queries in the work book.
    Please check and hope it helps.

  • All design programs running extremely slow and takes forever to save and sometimes shuts down randomly?

    Ok so  I'm a design student at a community college (about to graduate soon and will be continuing on getting my BFA) I have all of the creative cloud suite. I have Illustrator, Photoshop, Lightroom, InDesign, etc. Recently I started having problems with all of the programs. Whenever I work in the programs they would run extremely slow. Recently, I tried to save a .eps file that was only about 1.2 GB and it took me an hour to save, and this was when I was working off of my computer desktop. When I place the .eps file in Indesign, everything would go blank and it would freeze up. Also I had an error sign popping up from InDesign saying "out of memory". Im not sure if that is related to my computer's hard drive or indesign itself. I just started using creative suite so the creative suite is pretty new to me. Sometimes in Indesign when I do the Command+w to preview the whole project, it would be completely black and showing nothing and I would hit escape and the whole software screws up. Then I would do a force quit on the software and then Indesign would say there was a serious error and must shut down. That error message has been popping up several times now. I also talked to Apple support and they suggested me doing a Repair disk utility (which I am currently doing right now) and also recommended me contacting Adobe since they know their software. I checked software to see if there is any updates that is needed but everything is up to date. I'm not quite sure why its acting like this so I'm reaching out both to Apple and Adobe to see if both can help me solve the problem. If anybody had experienced this problem before and could help me troubleshoot this issue that would be great.

    I installed the creative suite about a year ago, and this just started happening last weekend. I didn't think it would be a problem and that it would last for a day since I was working on InDesign all day and Illustrator and it usually goes away after I finish using the programs. But this has been occurring for about a week now and has not gone away. and yes the other programs are running slow. I was trying to resize some images for a client and Photoshop was acting extremely slow  when I was trying to resize the image and also place an image into a 8x10 document in Photoshop. I'm not sure how to find my system specifications.

    Student For Life

    Hi,
    Per my understanding, you might want to use “RecursiveAll” with date filter in your CAML query statement.
    I suggest you take the code demo below which writes in Server Object Model for a try in your environment to see if it can work for you:
    using (SPSite oSiteCollection = new SPSite("http://yoursite"))
    using (SPWeb web = oSiteCollection.RootWeb)
    SPList list = web.Lists["List1"];
    SPQuery qry = new SPQuery();
    qry.Query =
    @" <Where>
    <And>
    <Leq>
    <FieldRef Name='Modified' />
    <Value Type='DateTime'>2015-03-07T12:00:00Z</Value>
    </Leq>
    <Eq>
    <FieldRef Name='FSObjType' />
    <Value Type='Integer'>0</Value>
    </Eq>
    </And>
    </Where>";
    qry.ViewFields = @"<FieldRef Name='Title' />";
    qry.ViewAttributes = "Scope='RecursiveAll'";
    SPListItemCollection items = list.GetItems(qry);
    foreach (SPListItem item in items)
    Console.WriteLine(item["Title"]);
