  • Sharing iphoto libraries on different computers

Hi, I'm trying to move all my files from one mac to another. I have a ton of photos in my iPhoto on Old Computer, but only some of them show up on New Computer. I took my last import, and made a photo stream out of it, but I can't give it a name, and what shows up on New Computer is only a portion of what's in the Photostream on Old Computer. What am I doing wrong? Is there any way to make an album, and have that album show up in my New Computer's iPhoto Library???

I you want all of your photos and photo information on the new mac PhotoStream is NOT the way to move them - Connect the two Macs together (network, firewire target mode, etc)  or use an external hard drive formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity from the old Mac to the pictures folder of the new Mac - launch iPhoto on the new mac and it will open the library and convert it as needed and you will be ready move forward.

  • How can I use the same "I Tunes" on two different computers

I’m using two different kinds of Personal Computer: One is Desktop PC And the other one is Notebook .
In each computer there are the same songs and when I get the new ones to the Desktop I want them to be placed on the Notebook or reverse.
Where does the I Tunes save the playlist on the hard drive ?
I have prepared a playlist on my Notebook and want it to be seen on the Desktop but I dont want to fallow the steps File > Library > Export Playlist on the Notebook. Is there any other way to make this issue instead of the mentioned steps.
How can I see the same Playlists and songs on two different computers ( notebook and desktop) including the updating processes.
    Operating systems of the computers:
    Desktop: XP Pro
    Notebook: Vista Bussiness

I use SyncToy 2.0 to keep two instances of my library in sync. SyncToy's preview will show which files it is about to update giving you a chance to spot unexpected changes and during the run only the changed files will be copied saving lots of time.
As long as I sync after making updates at one instance of the library before making any updates at the other then everything works just fine. I periodically run iTunes Folder Watch to check for any orphaned entries or new items that haven't been imported into the active library. If your machines are regularly networked together this process is fairly straightfoward. Mine are in disparate locations so I use one of the (physically) small WD My Passport host powered drives which I take between home & work, synchronising at either end. This gives me three complete copies of my library so I'm covering backup & synchronisation in the same operation.
When connecting my iPod at either location iTunes recognises itself as the "home" library for the iPod so I'm able to use the sync with selected playlists option without getting warning messages about the iPod being synced with a different library.

  • HT1364 I used these instructions to move my i-tunes library to the external hard drive that two different home pc's access. My playlists do not show on both Is it possible to have one i-pod synch amid two different computers that use the same library?

I have a sole i-pod and two pc's, used the instructions for "iTunes for Windows: Moving your iTunes Media folder" in the hope that I could synch my one i-pod between two different computers that are sharing the same library. Is it possible to have two seperate computers that only share an external hard drive (one wireless, one not) ? When I am looking at a shared library should it appear the same on both machines (ie: playlists/ purchased list etc)?

If it is moved correctly, playlists will display on both computers and it should be possible.
    Close iTunes.
    Hold <SHIFT> and launch iTunes.
When prompted to create a new or open an existing iTunes library point iTunes to the iTunesLibrary.itl file on the external drive.
The entire library should now show up with all playlists and playcounts.
    Do this on both computers.
Keep in mind that only one computer can access iTunes at a time, otherwise errors will occur when each computer attempts to write to or update the iTunesLibrary.itl file.
Syncing may work seemlessly with both computers, but honestly syncing is designed to work with one and only one computer.

  • How to merge two itunes accounts on two different computers?

When I originally set up my iTunes account I did not have my own laptop. I used my sisters laptop for this which now has her own iTunes account stored on it.
However, my tunes which I have purchased are also part of this account.
Obviously my sister is fine with me having access to these tunes, however I would like to have them stored in the account I have set up on my own laptop now that I have my own device.
Is there any way I can merge both accounts or the content of the accounts without losing anything we have purchased or uploaded?
Is this 'merging the libraries?', I didn't think it would be as they are on different computers?
Any help here would be great as I am driving my husband mad with this!
    Thank you!

    Hi Carolyn,
    Thanks for this.
Do you think there is any way to get the content of the libraries onto one account?
Would home sharing work just to facilitate the movement of the tracks?
    Thanks again!

  • Different computers

Can we use Home sharing on different computers in the family where each would use a different Apple ID in their iTunes?

You can have each computer use a different Apple ID to login to thier own iTunes. No problem with this.
For home sharing you need to create the home Share using the same Apple ID and password on all machines. This is separate from the iTunes store login id
    so for each machine
File > Home Sharing > Create Home share. Use the same Apple ID on each machine you want to set up. Does not matter which one as long as it is the same
Authorise each Computer with the Apple IDs used on each of your other computers. This is so you can paly content purchased with Apple IDs other than your own
    Store > Authorise this Computer
Then if you do not already have it visible turn on the Sidebar
View > Show Sidebar and if HomeSharing is working you each should see one or more Orange Houses under the shared section of the Sidebar

  • Can someone help me get my IPOD Touch 3g started? It will only flash the Apple logo off and on. Has been through restore multiple times on different computers, and still will not start.

I have tried restoring the ipod on different computers, one Vista, and one 7. On both, the restore process seems to complete just as it should, until the point where it says "your IPOD will now restart and will appear in listed devices. This IPOD never restarts. The Apple logo just stays on for approximately 30 seconds and then the screen turns off for five or ten seconds and the logo comes back on, over and over for approximately forty five minutes or so, Occasionally the "connect to USB" will come back on, but that is rare. When that does happen, the I-Tunes recognizes it again as an IPOD that needs to complete the restore process. VERRRRRY AGGRAVATING!!!

Time for an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. It appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Syncing contacts between 2 different computers while keeping both independent of each other?

    Hi,
I'm wondering if there is a way to have my calendars and contacts from 2 different computers running Mountain Lion sync to my iPad retina while keeping the 2 computers from merging the calendars and contacts? I do have a separate apple ID set up on each computer, and each computer does connect to iCloud.
The reason is one is my work machine, the other my personal home machine. The home machine keeps my wife and me connected by sharing the contacts and calendars which has been working well. I don't want to clutter up that by mixing in calendars and contacts from my work computer and don't want my wife to have access to them either.
The only way I can figure to have both reside on my iPad while keeping them independant of each other is to physically connect my iPad to my work machine and not have the contacts in iCloud. That way when I transfer them to the iPad via iTunes, it will be under the category On My Mac rather than iCloud contacts.
The only problem with that is then I'm always having to connect and sync my iPad to my work machine.
Is there a better way to do this?

Sorry, you lost me right there. Where exactly did you try to put an asterix????
Which example program are you trying to use?
Typically, you would enter the IP address of the server in the client program.

  • Itunes in 2 different computers, syncing??

Can I install Itunes in 2 different computers and sync my ipad and my iphone in both of them?
also, my old compuer died... so the iphone and the ipad are not new, but the itunes will be newly downloaded.... will that affect the info?
    THX I am freaking out...

Yes, but it is not trivial...
    Sync iPod/iPad/iPhone with two computers
Although it isn't possible to sync an Apple device with two different libraries it is possible to sync with the same logical library from multiple computers. Each library has an internal ID and when iTunes connects to your iPod/iPad/iPhone it compares the local ID with the one the device normally syncs with. If they are the same you can go ahead and sync...
I have my library cloned to a small 1Tb USB drive which I can take between home & work. At either location I use SyncToy 2.1 to update the local copy with the external drive. Mac users should be able to find similar tools. I can open either of the local libraries or the one on the external drive and update the media content of my iPhone. The slight exception is Photos which normally connects to a specific folder on a specific machine, although that can easily be remapped to the current library if you create a "Photos" folder inside the iTunes Media folder so that syncing the iTunes folders keeps this up to date as well. I periodically sweep my library for new files & orphans with iTunes Folder Watch just in case I make changes at one location but then overwrite the library with a newer copy from the other. Again Mac users should be able to find similar tools.
As long as your media is organised within an iTunes Music or Tunes Media folder, in turn held inside the main iTunes folder that has your library files (whether or not you let iTunes keep the media folder organised) each library can access items at the same relative path from the library folder so the library can be at different drives/paths on different machines. This solution ensures I always have adequate backups of my library and I can update my devices whenever I can connect to the same build of iTunes.
When working with an iPhone earlier builds of iTunes would remove any file not physically present in the local library, even if there was an entry for it, making manual management practically redundant on the iPhone. This behaviour has been changed but it will still only permit manual management with a library that has the correct internal ID. If you don't want to sync your library between machines on a regular basis just copy the iTunes Library.itl file from the current "home" machine to any other you want to use, then clean out the library entires and import the local content you have on that box.
You should be able to transfer your purchases into a newly authorised library, backup the device, recover any non-store purchased media with the tips in  this post from forum regular Zevoneer, (skip this if you've already got all the media) then restore the device from the backup you just made. That should  preserve all your data and switch the assocation of the device to the new machine. I've had positive feedback on this method from other users but I've never had to test it personally.

  • Accessing cDAQ-modules from 2 different computers ??

    I am maybe asking a hopeless stupid question here, but working from the thesis that there is no such thing, here goes;
If I have a NI cDAQ-9188XT with a NI-9401 DIO module, where I use 4 lines for digital output and 4 lines for digital input,
is it possible in any was to access these 8 lines from 2 different computers more or less simultaneously ?

    Yes, but not directly.
Set up one computer to directly talk to the cDAQ.  From that computer, either update deployed shared variables for other PCs to read or setup a network with another form of communication such as network streams or TCP/IP.  The first method doesn't require the second computer but is lossy (it won't check to see if other applications read the updated variable).

  • After downloading iTunes, it won't open stating need Internet connection. But already connected to Internet. Happened on 2 different computers. How can I resolve this?

After downloading iTunes,it won't open stating need Internet connection. Have Internet connection but program apparently doesn't recognize it. How can I resolve. This happened on 2 different computers.

If the modem is also a router, either use the modem in bridge and run pppoe client on the TC.. that is assuming ADSL or similar eg vdsl. If it is cable service.. and the modem is a router, then bridge the TC.. go to internet page and select connect by ethernet and below that set connection sharing to bridge.
Please tell us more about the modem if the above gives you issues.

  • Sync between different computers

    Question:
I sync my devices (iphone, ipod, ipad2) on my MacPro at home, no problem. When traveling I may need to sync one on them with my laptop. Maybe a new app, new music, pdf files, etc.
What I'd like to know is the best to keep the two iTunes libraries in sync so I don't risk losing anything by syncing between two different computers.
    Any help appreciated.
    John

you can use home sharing to keep the two libraries in sync. however, the future probably looks like this.
by design, iPhone and iPad can sync with only one library at a time.
however, you could consider Managing content manually on iPhone, iPad, and iPod.
