Sharing jar files

I have a few BPEL sharing the same jar files. I would like to deploy just a single copy on the BPEL server instead of copying all the jars inside the bpel_inf\lib folder inside each project.
Now i have a shared lib folder and i added the jar files, and added the jars to my classpath. I am able to successfully compile my projects ,Jdev can successfully deploy to my bpel server domain.
the project cannot load properly on the server giving
BPEL source validation failed, the errors are: [Error ORABPEL-10902]: compilation failed [Description]: in "bpel.xml", XML parsing failed because "undefined part element. In WSDL at "file:/C:/OraBPELPM_1/integration/orabpel/domains/default/tmp/.bpel_ID-8-1-a-and-bDestroyDrugsSect25_1.0.jar/ID-8-1-a-and-bDestroyDrugsSect25.wsdl", message part element "{http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/ws/2003/03/addressing}MessageID" is not defined in any of the schemas. Please make sure the spelling of the element QName is correct and the WSDL import is complete. ". [Potential fix]: n/a. .
Can you tell what steps should i take to make the jar files shareable across my projects in the same domain.
thanks

Hi,
I have to included few JARs into my project.
I tried to create a director BPEL-INF/lib under ApplicationName\BPELProjectNAme\bpel\ but Jdeveloper automatically removes them from here.
can you tell me exact location where can I place project related JARs as I don;t want to share them with other projects.
Where should I make BPEL-INF/lib so that JDeveloper and BPEL Server doesn't throws validation error.
Thanking you.

  • Sharing .jar file in iPlanet 6.5

    Hi
    Im using iPlanet Application Server 6.5 with Web Server 6.0.
    I built an .ear application and it works perfectly, but when I try to import some class from an external .jar file (out of .ear file) it brings me the error
    Error: 500 SC_INTERNAL_SERVER_ERROR
    javac error: /usr/iplanet/ias6/ias/APPS/testeearapp/testeApp/WEB-INF/compiled_jsp/jsp/APPS/testeApp/Teste.java:15: Package com.kaizen.deploy not found in import. import com.kaizen.deploy.*; ^ 1 error
    At the .jsp file I use the following line command
    <%@ page import="com.kaizen.deploy.*" %>
    working with tomcat, I can resolve it just coping the .jar files to "shared" folder. In iPlanet 6.5 exist a directory with those characteristics?
    Thanks

    It can be copied to any new folder such as ias/classes/CustomJARs/<external .jar> and need to be added path in ias/env/iasenv.ksh. The appserver should be able to find the .jar on the next restart of the appserver.

  • Sharing jar files across multiple web sites

    Dear all,
    We have an applet as part of an embedded device. I wish to share the jar files across multiple devices. i.e. Accessing 192.168.0.1 shouldn't download the jar files again if the same jar files exist in the cache as a result of download from 192.168.0.2. We are having very large applet jar files, hence reducing download times is a top priority. Is there some way to do that ? Will java web start help in this ?
    regards,
    Jay

    generally for avoiding applet downloading again the best solution is to use applet cahing, just add cache_archive in your html code (for full reference please go to the jdk javadoc ). Of course the problem are diffrent ips 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.0.2, applet caching will work ONLY for one ip, when you serv second sever name/diffrent ip client jvm will treat this applet as something new and will download it . The best solution i think is to sever everything on one server page/ip etc, but as you mentioned it is not good solution.
    Well you can make it if you want to serve your big jar file on diffrent ips/severs, How? You should ctreate small certified applet jar , inside it should be code that will download your huge jar file from any location you want and store IT on CLIENT machine, becouse that jar will be certified so applet with file functions will not ask user to accept dialogs etc, so that applet will create locall on client machine little cache were all files that were downloaded will be stored. And again when user will acess your page that small certfied jar file will check if cache folder exist and if inside it is your huge file.
    cheers

  • WAR Can't find class in JAR file in EAR/lib

    Hi,
    I have 1 EAR file with 1 WAR and 1 EJB-JAR file. Our main business-code is in a JAR-file which is placed in the EAR/lib/ folder along with the rest of the shared JAR-files.
    When i deploy the EAR the EJB gets deployed fine but when the WAR gets deployed, we get a ClassNotFoundException. We configured a class as a ServletContextListener (Which is part of the jar) in the web.xml so at startup it should perform some initiation. But since it can;t be found....
    I've tried changing the Mainfest.mf to include a CLASSPATH attribute with ./lib/x.jar but it stil the same problem. The only thing that solves it is to put it in the WEB-INF/lib folder.
    What am i doing wrong?
    Thanks,
    Maarten

    Here it is

  • Jar file caching problem

    I'm running applets under IE in our application. The application contains multiple pages, each page with one applet. Each applet contains some shared jar file and one specific jar file for that applet.
    Most of the time, the caching mechanism work fines. The browser is able to check with the HTTP server to see if any new jar files and download automatically. If no updates, the cached jars (in browser) are used.
    However, at some other times, when I jump across several pages, performing different processing, suddenly the browser will reload all the jar files from the server. Even some shared jars are reloaded in every page within the same browser session.
    If above problem occurs, I close the browser, open a new one and jumping to the pages again, the browser will be able to use the cached version again.
    The runtime environment as follows:
    JRE 1.3.1_02
    IBM HTTP server 1.3.12.6
    IBM WebSphere Appl Server 3.5.3
    IE 5.50 (The "Check for newer versions of stored pages" is set to "Every visit to the page")
    Pages created by JSP, syntax as follows:
    <OBJECT classid="<%=JSPUtil.getClassid()%>" codebase="<%=JSPUtil.getPluginCodeBase()%>" WIDTH=100% HEIGHT=175% NAME=posApplet>
    <PARAM NAME=ARCHIVE VALUE="<%=JSPUtil.getSharedArchives()%>, <%=JSPUtil.getArchiveLocation()+"/posPending.jar"%>">
    <PARAM NAME=CODE VALUE=ho.aia.pos.pending.applet.PendingSGP >
    <PARAM NAME=NAME VALUE="PendingRequirement" >
    <PARAM NAME=codebase VALUE="<%=JSPUtil.getCodeBase()%>">
    </OBJECT>
    Do anyone knows anything about the problem?
    Anyone knows how to make the caching work NORMALLY?
    Thanks

    Recently I tried to used some robot tools to test our application for performance issue. During the robot testing, I acceidentally discover some difference for the jar downloading which cause the above mentioned problem.
    At first, this http request has no problem and the jar file is NOT downloaded. Http server shows a response code of "304", meaning download not required.
    http_request
    "GET lib/posLookup.jar HTTP/1.1\r\n"
    "Accept: */*\r\n"
    "Accept-Encoding: gzip, deflate\r\n"
    "If-Modified-Since: Thu, 05 Dec 2002 17:22:12 GMT\r\n"
    "User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.5; Windows NT 4.0; T31246"
    "1)\r\n"
    "Host: defaulthost\r\n"
    "Connection: Keep-Alive\r\n"
    "Cookie: sesessionid=0001UULRZPFLU5IBRNBVHWUUAFI\r\n"
    "\r\n";
    Then after running for a while, the browser jumps into another page and finds that the same jar file "posLookup.jar" is required. It issue another http request to server as:
    http_request
    "GET lib/posLookup.jar HTTP/1.1\r\n"
    "cookie: sesessionid=0001UULRZPFLU5IBRNBVHWUUAFI\r\n"
    "User-Agent: Java1.3.1_02\r\n"
    "Host: defaulthost\r\n"
    "Accept: text/html, image/gif, image/jpeg, *; q=.2, */*; q=.2\r\n"
    "Connection: keep-alive\r\n"
    "\r\n";
    But this time the user agent becomes Java1.3.1_02 and the accept type becomes text/html instead of original zip format. After this, I check the IE temporary file and found that the posLookup.jar is having a type of "HTML Document" instead of "Executable jar file".
    Does anyone know whether this is a bug of the Internet Explorer or it is bug of the Java Plugin?
    Appreciate any opinions or comments.
    Thanks

  • Updating a JAR file in a shared folder

    Hi,
    I have a JDK 6 Swing app running in a Windows Terminal Server. All users share the same JAR file. I start it using a bat file something like this:
    start /b c:\progra~1\java\jre\bin\javaw -jar gestor.jarAll works fine when users share the same JAR.
    However, when I try to update JAR file to a new version, "sometimes" (not always) when there are some users with JAR file running by JVM, it occurs some strange behaviours with the app, errors like JVM would become lost/crazy with a JAR in RAM and other JAR in disk.
    Is not this a good approach to update the app? Is it better to disconnect all users before update app?

    I don't know what SUNs policy on this is. But if I were you, I'd create a link (shortcut in windows) to the JAR file, and when you have a new version, put it in the same folder as the previous release, but with a different name, and update the link/shortcut. Users should only know about the link/shortcut. Depending on the behaviour of the windows shortcut, users using the JAR file will still use the old file as you update the link to point to the new file. Feasible?

  • Hyperion Shared Services jar file css-9_3_1.jar in different locations

    Dear All,
    We found that HSS jar file, css-9_3_1.jar, can be found in many different locations as shown below. Doing a Unix diff, they are not all the same. I just wondering why was that. Currently, there seems no problem. But, I just worry that there may be some potential problems.
    $HYPERION_HOME/common/CSS/9.3.1/lib/css-9_3_1.jar
    $HYPERION_HOME/common/utilities/CSSImportExportUtility/importexport/lib/css-9_3_1.jar

    $HYPERION_HOME/AnalyticProviderServices/external/css/css-9_3_1.jar
    $HYPERION_HOME/DataIntegrationMgmt/9.3.1/Resources/jars/css-9_3_1.jar
    Our HSS Patch is 9.3.1.0.11 under in Unix server.
    Regards,
    nww

    Each product/module requires the foundation (CSS) libraries. Since the product/modules are packaged at different times (ie, they are not part of a single installer package), some might be slightly different versions.
    It's not an issue to worry about.

  • .jar file is not working properly :developed in NETBEANS

    Hi Gurus,
    i am using NETBEANS IDE 7.2.
    i am developing a project that interacts with databases 10g and COM ports of machine , these all processes are performed by .bat file which i am trying to run from jFramform , code works perfectly .bat file is also called perfectly when i run the project using F6 from the NETBEANS, for testing i placed some dialogue boxes on the form to test it ,
    but when i run executable .jar  file , form run successfully and dialogue box works perfectly but .bat file is not called by executable .jar file.
    this is how i call the .bat file...
      String filePath = "D:/pms/Libraries/portlib.bat";
            try {
              Process p = Runtime.getRuntime().exec(filePath);
            } catch (Exception e) {
                e.printStackTrace();
    and below is the contents of portlib.bat file
    java -jar "D:\SMS\SMS\dist\SMS.jar"
    you must probably ask why i am calling a .jar file using .bat file .
    reason is that this .jar project sends message using GSM mobile , System.exit(); is compulsory to complete a job and then do the next one ,
    if i use the same file to execute this job it makes exit to entire the application (hope you can understand my logic).
    that's why i use extra .jar file in .bat file , when single job is completed .bat exits itself and new command is given.
    Problem is that code is working perfectly in NETBEANS when i run the project but when i run .jar then .bat file is not working  ,
    thanks.

    Thanks Sir ,
    You need to first test an example that works like the one in the article.
    There are plenty of other examples on the web - find one you like:
    http://javapapers.com/core-java/os-processes-using-java-processbuilder/
    I tried this one.
      try {
                ProcessBuilder dirProcess = new ProcessBuilder("D:/SMS/SMS/Send_message.bat");
                 File commands = new File("D:/SMS/SMS/Send_message.bat");
                 File dirOut = new File("C:/process/out.txt");
                 File dirErr = new File("C:/process/err.txt");
               dirProcess.redirectInput(commands);
                 dirProcess.redirectOutput(dirOut);
               dirProcess.redirectError(dirErr);
                 dirProcess.start();
            } catch (IOException ex) {
                Logger.getLogger(mainform.class.getName()).log(Level.SEVERE, null, ex);
    as instructed in the article i compiled  both the projects at same version or sources and libraries which is 1.7
    here is my version details
    C:\>javac -version
    javac 1.7.0_07

    Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 23.3-b01, mixed mode, sharing)
    inside the NETBEANS IDE c:\process\err.txt  remains empty and code works perfectly , but when I run executable .jar file( by double clicking on that file in dist directry) then c:\process\err.txt becomes full with this error text and there is no response from calling D:\SMS\SMS\send_message.bat
    here is the error text

  • Please I can not get a .jar file to run on XP SP3 start/run/cmd/

    I can not get a .jar file to run on XP SP3 start/run/cmd/
    Please help if can figure this out. I'm convinced it is a Windows XP SP3 problem from searching on google and seeing other ppl on XP SP3 with same problem (but no working solution for myself). I'll try to be complete-listing all I've done.
    I had installed: Java SE Runtime Environment v6u14 for Windows Multi-language
    I had checked here it was working properly: http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
    I'm trying to run this jar file (soht-client-0.6.2.jar):
    http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/telnetoverhttp/soht-java-client-0.6.2.zip?download
    http://www.ericdaugherty.com/dev/soht/javaclient.html < this is the information for the program.
    (yes the file can be executed and should open the program's window
    I wanted to post screenshot of it but friend that it's working for isn't here)
    _(Please find log of all cmds I did in this post here: http://pastebin.com/f792983df )_
    _I have extracted +'all' the files to: C:\062\+_ (I have tried using other directories, same problem)
    ++I then start/open/run/cmd+
    then I: cd C:\062\+
    then I try various commands - all+ of these do absolutely nothing- meaning no errors, no reply, no window opens, nothing except enters that directoy again:
    java -jar soht-client-0.6.2.jar
    java -jar -client soht-client-0.6.2.jar
    java -client -jar soht-client-0.6.2.jar
    java -jar soht-client-0.6.2.jar soht.properties
    soht-client-0.6.2.jar
    So I try this cmd: java soht-client-0.6.2.jar
    Reply:

    SOHT Java Client
    The SOHT Java Client requires a properties file. Either start
    the application in the same directory as the soht.properties
    file, or specify the file name on the command line:
    java -jar soht-cleint-<version>.jar c:\soht.properties
    So then I do these cmds which produce the exact same error/reply just above; Unable to load..:
    j_ava -jar soht-client-0.6.2.jar -client soht.properties_
    java -jar soht-client-0.6.2.jar -client C:\062\soht.properties
    So then I copy soht.properties to C root and do:
    java -jar soht-client-0.6.2.jar -client C:\soht.properties <same error as above
    Then from other information I have read I right click on the .jar file, select open with Always open with:
    _"C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\javaw.exe"_
    Try again.. same problem.
    Then I do cmd:
    _"C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\javaw.exe" -jar "C:\062\soht-client-0.6.2.jar"_
    does nothing, retry the other commands same thing (either nothing or those same replies)
    Then I read (http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5384879) someone had the same problem as I and they solved it by uninstalling all Java/reboot/ then install JDK 6 Update 14 with NetBeans 6.5.1 start NetBeans and then it worked for them.
    So I unistalled all Java, rebooted and gave the cmd another try (before re-installing), now a new error, of course:
    C:\062>java -jar soht-client-0.6.2.jar
    'java' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
    Then I install  Java SE and NetBeans Cobundle (JDK 6u14 and NB 6.5.1) Final Release/ reboot/ open Netbeans/
    go to test java page; all is good, run cmds again -and still nothing..
    C:\062>java -version
    java version "1.6.0_14"
    Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_14-b08)
    Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 14.0-b16, mixed mode, sharing)
    I reassociate program with: C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.007\bin\javaw.exe_
    same thing.. nothing
    Thank you very much for your time :D_
    PS. My computer has been newly reformatted so needing another reformat I'm sure is not the solution.

    Thank you very much for your replies Taggert_77 & swmtgoet_x :D
    Taggert77_: I have never used NetBeans. I only installed it in the bundle as I had read on another post that somehow installing the bundle magically helped another user with the same problem (he didn't know why it worked after that either).
    Before XP SP3 I was able to execute .jar file through cmd prompt. Now I am not.
    This file is executable, grab it and you will see. Here is a screen shot (program in front is FlashFXP, behind is the cmd prompt and what should happen):http://www.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/53273b4ddf.jpg
    swmtgoetx_: I only did the other cmd's to try to make it spit out something, anything lol :D
    The proper cmd is simply: java -jar soht-client-0.6.2.jar
    I did give your cmd a try, and it produced nothing :( (just like the other correct cmds)
    java -client -jar soht-client-0.6.2.jar soht.properties
    Thank you again...the mystery remains
    PS. If you do a search for this you'll find an amazing amount of XP SP3 users with the same problem and no solution posted that I could find except one chap that did the unistall install order that I did above).

  • OC4J: Class not found for class in jar file placed in \j2ee\home\applib\

    I have an ADF application which uses external libraries (jars), which works fine when running the application from within JDeveloper (TP4).
    However if I deploy the application to the embedded OC4J server it won't find any classes imported in those external libraries at runtime (deploy does work). E.g. one library class imports oracle.jbo.server.DBTransaction. If a method of this class is called I get the following exception:
    Unexpected exception caught: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError, msg=oracle/classloader/util/AnnotatedNoClassDefFoundError
    oracle/classloader/util/AnnotatedNoClassDefFoundErrorThe same exception, when using a german locale, explicitely states that it cannot find oracle.jbo.server.DBTransaction.
    The jar files are placed in the \j2ee\home\applib\ directory and a <library> element to this path is present in application.xml.
    Any further hints what could be wrong?

    tried your suggestions but without success.

  • Jar files downloaded from SkyDrive are being renamed to jar.zip files

    I have cut and pasted the following series of exchanges from when I posted the problem onto SkyDrive's support forum. I hope that someone might be able to propose a better solution to the problem that I have. Thanks for your help.
    MDSms asked on
    Uploaded jar files convert to jar.zip files when downloaded from SkyDrive
    I have uploaded an executable jar file to SkyDrive. (I will call this FILE.jar). The file is intact and indicates that it is a jar file type when the file is viewed by Properties within Skydrive. However, when I download (or others download through a share link) the file, it is being saved onto the local computer's download file with .zip appended to the file name (FILE.jar.zip). The downloaded file can be renamed to remove the .zip appendage and subsequently run successfully. However the folder options for the folder where the downloaded file resides must be changed for disable "Hide known file extensions" prior to being able to remove the .zip appendage. While I have figured out the workaround for this problem, this manual renaming procedure is entirely too cumbersome as a solution for sharing this file with others. How can I prevent or disable the FILE.jar file from being renamed to FILE.jar.zip when it is downloaded from SkyDrive?

    The file was uploaded by first logging onto my SkyDrive account using Windows 7 Pro and Firefox browser, then a new folder in my account was created without sharing privileges, then the folder was opened and the FILE.jar was uploaded into the folder using the "Upload" option on skydrive account menu. Sharing privileges for FILE.jar were then created (view only), and the shortened url link was sent to the individuals that I was trying to share the file with. was then turned on. When these people use the link to download the file, it is being saved as FILE.jar.zip.
    When I try to download the file through the skydrive account download option, it is being saved onto my computer as FILE.jar.zip and this occurs when I try to download the file while signed into my skydrive account as well as when I am not signed into my skydrive account (using the shared file link).
    This PNG shows the information provided by clicking on the download icon (down arrow) within the Firefox browser; note that the file was downloaded as FILE.jar.zip and that the source was live.com. When I use Windows Explorer to look at the same file within the Download folder itself, examining the file's properties details also shows that it is being saved as FILE.jar.zip and is of the file type compressed zip folder.
    This PNG shows the information displayed to me from my skydrive account when I view the originally uploaded file's properties; note that the information shows that the file is a jar file type.
    When I utilize Internet Explorer 9 to access the file, FILE.jar is being downloaded onto my computer as a jar file type. This PNG shows the information provided by Tools/View Downloads within the IE9 browser. Note that in this instance, the information indicates that the file is being downloaded from yzudea.blu.livefilestore.com.
    It appears to me that the problem (the FILE.jar file being renamed to FILE.jar.zip) arises from the fact that a jar file downloaded from skydrive using firefox, is being sent from live.com whereas a jar file downloaded from skydrive using IE9 is being sent from yzudea.blu.livefilestore.com.
    I want to make sure that a person receiving a share link from me for FILE.jar is able to download it without modification to the file name regardless of which browser is being using to access the link. How can I make sure that this occurs?
    Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi MDSms,
    I appreciate you for providing as much information as you can about the issue, as well as for uploading screenshots on what you see from the downloaded file. About your initial concern wherein the file gets renamed with .zip after the original file extension, this is solely dependent on the browser that you are using since they have a different safety/security measure that needs to be implemented.
    Moreover, you may see the file servers live.com and yzudea.blu.livefilestore.com to be different with one another, but they actually are sent from the same SkyDrive server. This in turn, depends on the web browser where the file is being downloaded as well. The live.com file where it was downloaded from Firefox simply masks its original server yzudea.blu.livefilestore.com.
    As for your last query about your recipients downloading the file without the hassle of renaming it from a .zip file, you can simply tell them to download it through Internet Explorer.
    Should you have other queries or additional information that might help in our investigation, I highly encourage you to post them here.
    Regards,
    Michelle

    Michelle,
    Thanks for your reply. Yes, I could simply tell them to download the file through Internet Explorer, but is there another solution or workaround to the problem I have described here? Am I being punished with the curse of this problem simply because I (or the individuals with which I wish to share FILE.jar with) choose to use Firefox instead of IE? Will the use of any other browser instead of IE (Chrome, Safari, etc., etc.) still result in the same problem?
    You stated that it is "solely dependent on the browser that you are using since they have a different safety/security measure that needs to be implemented"........could the problem be overcome by designating one or both of the file server addresses as Trusted Sites within the browser options setting?
    I look forward to your response. Thanks in advance.

    Hi MDSms,
    We understand your concern. Since the issue does not occur in Internet Explorer, it has something to do with Firefox's security feature. You might want to verify this concern by contacting Firefox support.
    Hope this helps. Let us know if we can further assist you with SkyDrive.
    Thanks,
    Melanie Joy

  • Loadjava resolves jar file but classes are not showing up in user_objects

    Hello, oracle noob here,
    I'm loading a vendor's jar file in oracle with loadjava with the -v -f -r flags and the classes I need and I see them either getting resolved or skipped:
    c:\loadjava -r -f -v -genmissing -u "uid/pwd@mydbatrain" ekahau-engine-sdk.jar
    resolving: class com/ekahau/common/sdk/EConnection
    skipping : class com/ekahau/common/sdk/EErrorCodes
    skipping : class com/ekahau/common/sdk/EException
    skipping : class com/ekahau/common/sdk/EMsg

    Errors: 0 Thinking everything went well I ran my routine to call EConnection but I get a NoClassDefFoundError on that call, which tells me that the aurora JVM can't find the class.
    After chasing my tail with the server's CLASSPATH, it dawns on me that it should already be in the user_objects table since loadjava should have put it in there.
    But when I query user_objects to see if EConnection is in there,
    SQL> column object_name format a30
    SQL> column object_type format a20
    SQL> select object_name,object_type, status from user_objects where object_name like '%ekahau%';

    I picked up the idea of running java inside oracle from an OCP and I can run a simple isolated java program myself and even make database calls.
    But it seems I didn't get all the knowledge i need when it comes to loadjava and getting a jar files classes into user_objects to be useful.
    Can anyone help an oracle noob with loadjava?

    Thank you, Gary.
    I updated the post with the version info. I did not explicitly install this JDBC driver, so whatever the OSD came with?  Unless it is using whatever is installed on my machine, in which case would be the thin driver.
    I did check out that post, and I appreciate you sharing it. I did click the 'include synonyms' filter, but behavior remained unchanged.
    I would prefer to use OSD, and that is what our dev team was expecting to use, but we just can't see the information.  We are using an ID that does not 'own' those tables, per se.  But, why would DBVisualizer show these tables, when OSD does not?

  • .jar files Please help

    Good day all.
    I am very new to java and admittedly not a very technologically savvy person. However, I play the card game "Magic: The Gathering"? and wish to play online because not any of my friends play. I use a macintosh computer. I researched Magic Online and found you could download a free trial from Wizards of the Coast Website, but it was not for Macs. I continued to research and found something called "WebWizard" a program allowing Mac users to play Magic Online. I downloaded the necessary files and attempted to install them. The two files were named 'ww.jar' and 'cards.jar'. When I opened 'ww.jar' it said "Jar Launcher: The jar file "ww.jar" couldn't be launched. Check the Console for possible error messages". I opened 'cards.jar' and received the same message. Using what little intelligence I have in regard to Java, I opened a search for anything related to it, and found the Java Web Start application. I started up the application and followed the instructions, and was asked to locate the files I wanted to view. I located the first, 'ww.jar', and it opened a page full of what I assume was programming language that had been translated into what the symbols would be on my computer - Total gibberish. I opened the 'ww.jar' once again and the error message did not appear. Instead, the WebWizard window started up!
    However, I needed to get the 'cards.jar' file to work so I could start playing Magic Online. I tried to do the same thing with Java Web Start, but 'cards.jar' failed to open when I located it. I tried opening the file anyways, but nothing happened.
    I have worked for about an hour on trying to get this to work, and have not found any way. Please help me out!

    If you just want to play casually, you can use Magic Workstation. It's free, but it won't let you play with other people on Magic Online, but I think it does have some tournaments of its own (but not for prizes). Another older piece of software that isn't used as much anymore is Apprentice. I don't know if either of these run on a Mac.
    Depending on what version of Mac you're using (and if you have a PowerPC processor), you might be able to use Virtual PC (which costs money) to install a Windows image on your computer, and then virtually run Magic Online (if you obtain the Windows image from a file sharing network instead of purchasing Windows legitimately, this is illegal).
    You could also try using VMware Player (which is free software) to run Windows virtually on your computer and play Magic Online that way. I'm not sure if VMware runs on a Mac though.
    Please don't try all of these things until something works; this will be very time consuming. Give us some more background on where the Jar files came from and, if you can, the error messages printed to the Java console. Also, how much do you know about computers? If you know how to compile source code that will probably increase your options since I believe the source code for VMWare Player is available.
