Shortcut/alias to VPN server

i'm sure this has been answered but can't find anything in a search...
i've successfully set up a VPN to our server, but i'm unable to find a way to create a shortcut or alias to the server once i've connected the VPN (using the VPN icon in the menu bar)... is this possible? or do i need to keep using Connect to Server... in the Finder menu??
ideally i'd like an alias either on my Desktop, the Finder toolbar or on my Dock...

but when entering the exact address (afp://ip_address/FKDA) in VPN on Demand, it doesn't activate the vpn
You didn't read closely enough. VPN on demand requires that you enter the DOMAIN NAME that should trigger the VPN connection. Not a URL.
e.g. if the URL you're accessing is afp://server.domain.local/sharepoint then the domain name would be server.domain.local.
Without checking, I don't know if an IP address is sufficient - probably not since I could imagine VPN on Demand intercepts name lookups, so you may need to use the name of the server on the internal network, not its IP address. If that's the case you'd need to ensure that there's valid, working DNS for your internal network.

    But all remote PC after connection to Cisco VPN server don't ping SERVER1 in lan and therefore don't see SERVER1 and every other resource in LAN.
    They can ping only router!!!
    They are configured with Cisco VPN client (V5.0.007) with "Enabled Trasparent Tunnelling" and "IPSec over UDP NAT/PAT".
    What is wrong in my attached configuration? (I've alspo tried to bind Virtual-Template1 both to unnambered Dialer0 and to Loopback0 but without luck)
    Peraps ACL problem?

    Hello,
    Your pool of VPN addresses is overlapping with the interface vlan1.
    Since proxy-arp is disabled on that interface, it will never work
    2 solutions
    1- Pool uses a different network than 192.168.5
    2- Enable ip proxy-arp on interface vlan1

    I've updated ios to c870-advipservicesk9-mz.124-24.T8.bin  and tried to ping from rv320 to 871 and vice versa. Ping stil not working.

  • VPN between ASA5505 Easy VPN Server and 881G Router as Easy VPN Client

    Hello,
    I have problem in VPN between ASA5505 Easy VPN Server and 881G Router as Easy VPN Client. ASA 5505 have 7.2.3 software and 881G router have 15.1 software.
    881G is configured as hardware client in network exstention mode, and it is placed behind NAT. ASA5505 is working as server. Same VPN Group works correctly from VPN software clients.
    When I send traffic from 881G client side, in show cryto sessin detail I see encrypted packets. But with same command I dont see decrypted packet on ASA5505 side. On both devices Phase 1 and Phase 2 are UP. 
    VPN is working when I replace ASA5505 with ASA5510  correctly with have 8.4.6 software. But problem is that i need to do this VPN between ASA5505 and 881G.
    Can you help me, how can I debug or troubleshoot this problem ?
    I am unable to update software on ASA5505 side.

    Is it possible to configure and operate the ASA 5505 as a SSL VPN server and Easy VPN Client at the same time? We would like to configure a few of these without having to purchase additional ASA 5505 and use a 2 device method (1 SSL VPN Server and 1 Easy VPN Client). Thanks in advance.

  • How to setup built-in VPN server on Mountain Lion

    Anyone have information on configuring the built-in VPN server in OS X Mountain Lion ?

    Update - it works ! At least I can connect to Mountain Lion (not server) from my iPhone using the VPN Server Configurator app.
    Here's what I did :
    1) download the app and install
    2) setup using the help files on the web page : http://www.greenworldsoft.com/product-vpn-server-help.html
    3) at the last stage you need to setup port forwardin on your router
    4) under Airport Utility 6.0 you cannot setup ports 500 or 4500 due to BTTM conflicts but setup the other 2 ports (1723 TCP and 1701 UDP), update airport extreme
    5) download Airport Utility 5.6 from here : download already extracted utility  it is in it's extracted form as is necessary under Mtn Lion (thanks to NetUse Monitor for the download - great app by the way)
    6) run 5.6 and setup port forwarding (Advanced-Port Mapping) for the other 2 ports (500 and 4500 UDP), update airport extreme
    7) that's it, I was able to connect to the VPN from my iPhone !

    4)then i down load workgroup manager, and found nothing there about such a founction about IP restriction.

    Won't the password restrict everyone from connecting unless they know the password?

    Yes you can but as 2Point5 notes it isn't a good idea. But if you are intent on doing so, the simple way is to download and purchase a program called Candybar. The arrow is basically a badge that's applied over an icon. In Candybar you can replace the arrow badge with one of your own - a totally transparent icon for example.
    However, having done this, you will no longer be able to look at an icon and know if it is the real file or the alias. You'd have make sure that all your aliases were named with alias or some symbol or labeled with a color or you'd have to do a Get Info to see if it was an alias or not. All this sounds like a good recipe for accidentally erasing the real file and not the alias.

    As Microsoft suggest, you need add two virtual NIC, then attache the NIC to the different vSwitch, one vNIC for the internal another one for the external.

  • Windows 8.1 VPN Server Setup - No Network softwaare to choose

    Windows 8.1
    Setting up an incoming VPN Server.
    When I try to create a New Incoming Connection via  Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Change adapter settings > Alt - F > New Incoming Connection.
    The wizard appears so  I check the User Account > Next  > Check Through the Internet > Next  bringing up the Allow connections to this computer window where I should be able select Networking software to be enabled and then go on
    to click Allow Access button.   The networking software to highlight window is blank.  Using the Install... button below this window brings up the Select Network Feature Type window where I can highlight a feature (Client, Service or Protocol)
    and click Add button .  It returns to the Allow connections window which has not changed and nothing is added.  Still blank.
    How do I get the network software to be there to select?
    I have done this on other machines and had no problems at all.  It worked the way it should. 
    After I did an image and reset operating system, the VPN Server Setup worked as it should.  Restored image as it is way to much work to rebuild the machine. So any ideas?

    Did you mean you have solved this problem by resetting Windows?
    Regarding to current information, this issue can be caused by port settings or corrupted Windows components.
    Please check if the VPN port 1723 has been set as allowed in both your Firewall and router settings pages.
    Also, we may fix such issue by running following repair command:

    SFC /SCANNOW
    dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

  • Can't connect to vpn server

    I am now setting up the vpn server using mac mini with Mac OSX v 10.7 Lion Server. After setting up, I found that I can't make connection.
    When I check out the console, I find that the vpnd continue assign IP address to the same client and then hungup as follows:

    I have no new information to report to help you with this, but I am also seeing the same issue. The same behavior happens when connecting through my router *or* via ATT iPhone tethering.

    I have a VPN clients which can connect to the VPN server and communicate  each other. I want to connect dedicated server to port FE 0/1 and all  VPN clients to be able to see and communicate with the server. How I can  connect the two networks?

    Ideally, VPN connectivity is tested from devices behind the endpoint devices that do the encryption, yet many users test VPN connectivity with the ping command on the devices that do the encryption. While the ping generally works for this purpose, it is important to source your ping from the correct interface. If the ping is sourced incorrectly, it can appear that the VPN connection has failed when it really works. If ping works continuously then the problem can be that the xauth times out. Increase the timeout value for AAA server in order to resolve this issue.

  • Easy VPN Server? Hmmm.. Not so Easy...

    I used the Cisco Configuration Professional to add an Easy VPN Server to my 3825. I'm able to connect when remote but I can't ping the default gateway of 192.168.1.1 which is in the same network as the VPN DHCP pool. I can access every single other device on the VLAN segments but not the default gateway which means when i connect I can't look at my router. And there's more,  I cannot ping anything offnet (ie 75.75.75.75). Below is my config. Attached are some images which show some details from the client during the VPN connect and a few from the router (i had to use the lan switch as a jump host). If you can figure this out before I go back to the coffee shop to test this tomorrow I will send you a cake.
    One thing I just thought of, does the virtual-tempalte 1 interface have to have "nat inside" applied?

    I was under the impression that using the virtual template and ip unnumbered allows the interface to respond to the DHCP IP provided to Gi0/0 by my ISP. If I were to make, say, VLAN 1 the VPN interface how would I then access it from the WAN given that it has a Nat'd LAN IP? I guess port forwarding would work if that would have to be in addition to using a VLAN?

I'm not sure if there's a means to have the same configured VPN work when attached locally or remotely? And if roaming in regards to a VPN is something that can be acheived...
    As an aside my reason for going to these lengths for security are valid. I've recently encountered a situation where I was hacked (this is my home network) using a MIMA and what I assume to be SSLstrip or some derivative to obtain my email address and password. Wasn't fun, wasn't pretty.

    I have an ASA5510 in failover, after a reload, a message "Untrusted VPN Server Blocked" appears after the first attempt to connect to the VPN, if we uncheck the "Block connections to untrusted servers" in preference settings the profile is updated and the connection is successful.
    If I disconnect the VPN and try again it appears another profile.
    I try this step for another link, but the result is the same for me
    Try the following steps,
    1.  Click on Anyconnect Client profile
    2.  Edit Anyconnect_Group profile
    3.  Edit Server list
    4. Add or Edit the hostname (You will see IP address, however, your cert is URL address ) So you have to add it or delete the IP address and keep URL )
    5. Host display: Remote.exmaple.com and FQDN: Remote.example.com
    ** Your cert that you applied for the interface must match the URL otherwise it won't work. So you can make your Cert
    (( *.example.com )) and it should match any URL you give
    Does anyone knows what could be the cause of this problem?

    it sounds like you don't have a certificate installed on the ASA, so the ASA uses a non-persistent self-signed certificate.
