Should I buy CC for small business or for an individual? I am a freelance graphic designer.

I am a graphic design but I work on my own. I just purchased CC for small business but now suddenly wonder if I should have purchased for an individual as I have no team.

Hi Aridne,
You can follow the discussion: Creative cloud team vs individual membership where the difference between both the plans are clearly mentioned.
You can choose the one which suits your needs the best.
Let us know if you still have any queries regarding the same.

  • Dear Yoga 2 Pro owners - should I buy this for business use?

I'm a Lawyer and looking for an ultra book to do the majority of my work on.
My only requirements are good keyboard and trackpad, durability, high quality screen to make reading and creating documents as friendly on the eyes as possible, great wireless connection, speed, and for it to last hopefully 2 years before needing an upgrade.
I use acrobat pro and office 2013 extensively.
Will the Yoga 2 Pro be a good choice for me, or should I wait for the thinkpad x1 carbon to be released in my country? (UK).
Thanks for any help you can provide

The 1800p resolution is a gimmick since programs are not really capable with this resolution. That said, you will probably reduce the resolution to at least 1080p or worst. I use 900p because some programs even struggle with 1080p.
This model has wifi issues which is present on certain models of routers using 2.4 ghz band. Many have been lucky to be around new routers. However, you cannot tell a hotel, airport or coffee shop to change the router just for you. I personally suffer from wifi issue at my school. I have already made a batch file to reconnect instantly but, this is utter BS for a $1200+ laptop (don't forget tax).
The yellow issue is better but not perfect. In some modes, the mustered color is still present. I solved the issue by deleting those power plans from my computer. However, this is not an acceptable solution. That said, even on the fixed power plan, there is a slight green tint on the yellow. Also, Microsoft Office yellow (like the highlighter) looks like crap on all power plans.
The backlight on the keyboard is really dull compared to many backlit keyboards.
The trackpad deselects what you selects, if you crank up the trackpad speed. For me, the default speed is too slow. (However, it can be fixed by using a dell driver)
The micro HDMI slot is too recessed. You will need to buy special cables or cut your cables to fit the yoga.
The SD slot has little depth. This means there is not a SD card in the market that will sit flush with the laptop. This is a deal breaker if you want to have an SD card act as a semi-permanent extra storage solution.
The trackpad is a grease magnet and will look bad within 72 hours of use.
You cannot lock this version of OKR. This means that unlike the previous version (which cannot be installed), anyone can be a di** and reformat your computer with a push of a button.
The fan goes crazy within about 30 min of light use.
The screen flickers at low brightness.
Almost everyone has light bleed on their screen, to some degree.
It is impossible to clean smudge marks on the yoga's back shell.
There is an overheating issues when the yoga is placed inside a bag, while in sleep mode.
    The edges chip easily.
The Bluetooth constantly disconnect and a Bluetooth mouse is practically un-usable, useless you have a USB receiver (taking up 1 of 2 USB ports).
Speaking of which, 2 USB ports.... Really? Also, why can't they both be USB 3.0? Or the USB 2.0 also be an eSATA/USB combo jack?
Part of the keyboard driver, built into the Utility.exe file of the Power Management software, sucks. There are certain keys that will do nothing 1/2 the time they are pressed. The airplane mode key is one of them.
Lenovo custom install makes upgrading to a different version of windows difficult. To upgrade to Windows 8.1. Pro for example, you will need to jump through hoops and suffer from a failed update(s) to actually get Windows 8.1 Pro. I am lucky the feature I wanted works (in spite of the failed updates) but, I would not be surprise if certain features don't work since the upgrade failed 3x.
Oh and if you are a Dargon users, I hope you don't plan on updating your program. However, I will leave it at that since software can be uninstalled, like the buggy phone companion software (which sporadically works on limited ICS versions and rare JB versions).

  • I work for a colligate newspaper, should I buy CC for teams? students? or as individuals?

    Hi there,
I'm trying to decide which package to purchase for my production designers at my college's newsroom.
We have 5 macs that are designated work computers and we need the CC on all 5 computers.
How should I go about purchasing the CC? I would prefer not to use student's e-mails to qualify as students in case they want to buy it in their future college career for personal use. Should I purchase it as a team package? individual package? do I qualify as an 'educator' to make a purchase that way?
    Thanks for your help!!

    Hi Britisigner,
My recommendation would be a team but sign up as an instructor to get the educational discount

  • New to Macbook pro,,, should I buy used for $600?

    Hi guyz ....
I am posting something first time to this community and also going to be a new macbook pro user ..
I was looking for a used macbook pro and recently i found one with the following configurations
    Macbook pro 13.3''
    RAM 4gb HDD 256GB
core 2 duo Mac OS 10.7
this macbook is used and mid 2009 model and also repaired .
should i spend $600 on it?
    you response is much appreciated
    thanks you
    danny

According to KB Article http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1159 Mac OS X versions (builds) for computers, that model came w/Lion pre installed.  If the seller is not including the system DVDs that originally came w/the computer (per Apple's license agreement), I would not purchase.  You would be purchasing a glorified door stop.

  • Apple RAM stopped working - should I buy Crucial for replacement (UK)

I just noticed my Mac Pro (Early 2008) 8 Core bought in early 2009 (just before the newer model came out has been running slow.
    I've just checked and although 10 GBs installed - 2 x 1GB (Apple) and 4 x 2GB (Crucial).
I won't to replace the memory, but Crucial are only showing 4GB (2 x 2GB).  Is Crucial still the best option for replacement in the UK.
    Thanks in advance.
    Matt

I'm confused, RAM either works or it does not - it does not slow down with age or use.
In Activity monitor, are you showing many page outs?  If your system is not swapping to disc with the amount of RAM you have, then adding more or replacing what's there will not speed up a thing.
If your RAM has actually failed, then sure, Crucial is a great source.  Apple does not actually make RAM, they just buy from suppliers like all computer companies do.  Often, Apple devices ship with Crucial RAM (or Samsung or Kingston - I've seen new systems with any of those in them).

  • Where should i buy RAM for my iMac??

Where or what website should i purchase RAM from.
i am looking to upgrade my Imac 27" (fall 2013)
i like to go from 8GB to 16GB or possibly 32GB
will be working on FCPX. lots of video editing.
    someone suggested www.macsales.com
    and suggested using OWC upgrades.
    anyone have any advice ???
    thanks

My advice. so mileage may vary.
OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion, by itself,  can eat up 4 GBs of RAM.
If you install only 16 GBs of RAM, this really leaves only 12 GBs of a usable RAM for other applications.
You do not, necessarily,  have to install the complete 32 GB of RAM.
You could install 20-24 GBs of RAM and will, probably, still be in good shape, in terms of RAM.
What is really needed for video editing is a fast CPU and powerful GPU ( at least 1 GB VRAM) and lots of hard drive space.
So, I would recommend investing in two fast USB 3.0 or Thunderbolt external hard drives.
One drive (1 or 2 TB storage size)  for a working drive for data and editing of Final Cut files and one other drive ( 2 TB or larger data storage space) to use as a complete computer data backup drive solution.

  • Queries related to Office 365 Small Business Premium Installation

I was exploring your Office website and thought to buy Office 365 Small Business Premium but was not able to understand one statement which was "Subscription to Office for up to 5 PCs/Macs and 5 Windows tablets/iPads per user"
Does the above statement mean that If I purchase 1user license of Office 365 Small Business Premium ( Cost rs 750) then I will be getting the right to install it onto 5 computers. Below is the link for your reference.
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-in/business/compare-all-office-365-for-business-plans-FX104051403.aspx
    Please reply asap.

    Hi,
Yes, you can install Office applications on up to 5PCs or Macs.
As an administrator, you can deploy and manage Office 365 across your company. After adding users, per user can install Office applications up to 5 PCs/Macs or Windows tablet/iPads.

  • Which mouse is better for Graphic Design? Razer orochi or logitech ms950?

Im looking for a new mouse, Im a fulltime Graphic Designer and want to know what the best mouse is out there?
I have narrowed it down to a Razer orochi or logitech ms950.
What do you use and what do you recommend?

In my opinion NB series in general is not designed for some turbo performance but to offer maximum on mobility and offer enough power for every day usage.
Im pretty sure both models have enough power for video usage and there is no big difference.
I also think you should choose netbook with more attractive design.
By the way: you can buy one of them, test it at home and, if you dont like it, send back. Before you buy one talk with your local dealer and be sure you can bring it back.
In my country I can bring it back in 14 days after purchasing it.

  • New imac for graphic design?

Hello, I'm thinking about getting the new 24" imac to do some freelance graphic design. I'd like to get opions from other graphic designers or anyone else who is using cs3 about this model of mac. Are you happy with the screen and its performance?
    Thanks

    Here's my two cents....
I'm also a graphic designer and found that the 24" on occasion has been.....wait for it.....too big!
Funnily enough, I've just put mine up for sale in favour of a MacBook Pro...for portability more than anything but the screen was great for graphics, just not so great for anything else.
I would seriously consider checking out the 20-inch. Like I said, the 24" can be a little large for things like spreadsheets, and text documents. Even browsing the web can be a bit harsh on the eyes after a while, it is a real strain when your eyes get tired.
CS3 is perfectly adequate on a 20-inch, even CS2 which takes up more screen space effectively (thanks to CS3's new 'panels' as theyre called) is still a pleasure to work with.
After all, there's still plenty of stunning graphic design created on much less than 24"s of screen real estate!
The only time I would recommend the 24" having owned one for a year, is if somebody wanted it as a media centre, on the wall, filled with HD movies.
Just my opinion, but check out the 20", they should also have CS3 installed on the iMacs at your local Apple store, so you can see how it works on the 20 and the 24".
    Hope that helps!

  • Is the 13inch MBP for $1199 practical for graphic design?

    Hi,
I'm wondering if someone can please advise... my wife wants to get into graphic design, and I would like to get her a laptop for a gift... I use a macbook pro 2.53 but that's not in my budget...
would the macbook pro for $1200 (13inch 2.26 2gb 160hd) be better than the macbook for 999?
do you think those specs are sufficient for running PS, Ilustrator etc..?
I'm looking for something she can use to learn graphic design on and actually do work... is 13in screen practical?
    Thanks

    Hi chaimdan,
Photoshop is actually more dependent on the CPU /RAM/HD than on the Graphic processor, so the absence of the dedicated GPU won't hurt her with the base model MBP compared to your own. It will be a little slower with Photoshop than your own because of the ten percent or so difference in CPU speed, but not much.
I'd be inclined to bump it up to 4 Gig of RAM though (i installed Corsair "MacRAM" in my own which was much cheaper than ordering the computer with the 4 Gig configuration). I found a substantial improvement with various graphics related apps after upgrading.
To connect to a large monitor you will need an adaptor - either "MiniDisplay Port to DVI" or MiniDisplay Port to VGA", depending on the monitor . Almost all current flat screen monitors will support DVI, which is the way to go if you can.
Personally I'd get the MBP rather than the MB because of the FW port. While USB is Ok for backing up, to avoid filling up her internal drive too much (Photoshop likes plenty of room to move for optimum performance) she is going to need to think about getting an external drive for storing images, or even for use as a "scratch drive" when using Photoshop, before too long. FW800 is vastly better for this sort of purpose.
    Cheers

  • HT3986 I have a pc that is one year old and the hard drive is crashing we use it only for quick books to run our small business I would like to buy amac and install the OS  forom the pc to the apple product i will not use the pc after can i use the OS off

I have a pc that is one year old and the hard drive is crashing we use it only for quick books to run our small business I would like to buy a macmini and install the OS  from the pc to the apple product i will not use the pc after, can i use the OS off the pc or do I have to purchase another?

I think you can get Windows 7 for around $99. Install the 64bit version as the 32bit version will not be able to use all your new computer's ram if you have more than about 3.5gb.
Back up your quick books data now before the old hard drive dies. You can copy your data over to your new installation of Windows and quick books.
By the way, there is quick books for Mac http://quickbooks.intuit.com/mac/?sc=BNR-000-COR-quickbooks&priorityCode=4902000 000&cid=ppc_google_QB-Intuit-Core-Brand-Mac_quick-books-for-mac_exact&site=&ad_i d=9347918288&raw_keyword=quick%20books%20for%20mac
So you may not need to install Windows at all.

  • Which package of dreamweaver should I buy for my local scout association? Personal? smallbusiness? It's only user will be me

    Hello,
I want to create a webpage for my local scout association, and I would like to use dreamweaver to do it.
It's not something I will get paid for.
But I can not figure out which package I need to buy.
Because it is only me who will be using it, and therefore I thought it should be a personal license.
But I am also a student at university college of northern, therefore I thought it should be a Student license.
but maybe I'm wrong and it should be a license for a small business?
Can anybody please explains to me which package I need to buy?
In advance thank you for your time :-)
    //Lars

if you can qualify as a student, getting a student license is less expensive (but more of a hassle to obtain because of documentation needed).
otherwise, you would get a personal/individual license.

  • What precise requirements must certificates meet for small business router?

I have just purchased a RV180W small business VPN router and successfully
set it up as a router and site-to-site VPN gateway.
Very pleased with progress thus far I then attempted to export and self-sign a
certificate request carefully following steps in the administration guide.
On uploading the certificate produced (by Windows (8) makecert.exe) the
message "No trusted certificate found. Can't upload self certificate." is displayed.
I had no success despite numerous repetitions with several alternative settings
    in the CSR.
Brevity of the instructions suggest it should be straightforward and flexible
enough to meet a wide range of certificate formats. There is no reference to
    any specification.
Clearly this is not the case! Hence my question: What requirements must a
certificate (file) meet if it is to be successfully uploaded to a Cisco Small
    Business Router?
Can I restate an appeal I make to every hardware and software producer I
have the misfortune of having to deal with: Please do not publish instructions
and guides that merely state the blindlingly obvious (e.g. Enter your name
in the box labeled name) and omit all details that actually are important
and relevant (e.g. Make sure that the name you enter is the same as that you
entered as the device owner or any other condition required by the software
that the user cannot be aware of and prevent something from working if not
    met)!

Common features required would be single or dual WAN, VLAN support (at least 4),
With a minimum of 4 VLANs, the 860 is out of the question as this model can support only 2 VLANs.   The 880 can support up to 8 VLANs.  Now both the 860 and the 880 has a 4-port, FastEthernet, layer-2 switch. The 890 can support up to 12 VLANs and have an 8-port, FastEthernet, layer-2 switch at the back.
Now all the models mentioned, 860, 880 and 890, can support PoE.  The 860, 880 and 890, can support 4-ports of PoE.
I've two vital questions for you.  They are:
    1.  Are you planning to integrate your wireless with your router?
    2.  What is your bandwidth?
If you plan to integrate a wireless access point with your router, you need to be mighty careful with this.  The reason is because of the potential location of the router in the premises.  Most of the time, the router is located in the far corner of a property and inside a metal box/cabinet.  For starters, the location is far (to very far) from the clients so the wireless signal is propagating to no one.  Next, if it's inside a box or a cabinet the metal shell of the cabinet can disrupt the way wireless propagates.
This is the reason why I mentioned the PoE option.  If the location is similar to what I've described, then it's better to get a router AND WAPs separate.  This way you can move the WAP to wherever your clients might be.
Next is your bandwidth.  What router to buy depends on what bandwidth you've got.
