Should Java be used for this type of application
I am building a knowledgebase that is going to be searchable in web browser. Lucene is good search engine and it's in Java so would use JSP pages. However everyone has Win 2000 machines and it's going to be annoyin to install that on everyone's machine. Is there a way to put it on a shared drive and make it work ? I'm confused.
Java should be used for everything... :)
You could write an application for a central server, and then make a web interface for it that your users could use. You could write a process that would index your data into a database table, which would be easier to search, and then have your web frontend search the database based on whatever requirements the user specifies.
I'm not really familiar with lucene, but I'm sure you could run it on a server, and make a web interface with java to interact with it.

Can Java be used for this?
Hi. As a hobby, I have built a game with a development tool called Macromedia Director. The game is a 'virtual tabletop' that allows people to play a variety of role playing games over the internet that are traditionally played in a face to face setting at a real table.
Due to some shortcomings with Director I am looking for another language to program the game.I currently use an old version of Director and upgrading is expensive. Director also has limited cross platform support (no Linux). Finally, the future of Director is in question as Macromedia was acquired by Adobe and they have already end-of-lifed some of the acquired products.
My game consists of some basic features. One user runs a server application that accepts connections from the client application. Once connected the cleints can do basis text chat. There is die rolling function. Finally there is a feature for the referee to send pregenerated images to the players, typically some sort of map. The image can be hidden from the players and revealed in pieces by the referee. I also plan on adding a shared whiteboard feature for creating on the fly images.
I have done some preliminary investigation and it seems that Java is one of the obvious choices. The socket programming seems to be straight forward and allow you to create a similar client/server application. Swing covers building the GUI. What I am not clear on is the graphics capability of Java. Director has a fairly powerful graphics engine allowing you to work with 32 bit graphics (alpha channels) and pixel manipulation.
It seems like Java can do all this, but I want to make sure before I invest to much time. You can see screen shots of my game at http://www.v-fort.org. It's definetly not a polished product. There are many of these types of programs already.I just do it because I enjoy programming (and gaming too). I appreciate any suggestions. Thanks

I have Mac Pro 2007, which have no bluetooth hardware. What should I do to use Apple wireless keyboard and magic mouse??? Can 'third party's internal bluetooth card' be used for this purpose? Help me please...
You can find the Apple Bluetooth card on eBay for as little ten dollars (says its for the 2008 model Mac Pro, not sure about the 2007).
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Bluetooth-Board-iMac-and-Mac-Pro-922-8233-922-8233-/1208 49278570
Here is a link to a full explanation of the card and how to install it. Part numbers may differ a bit as that is an old article and newer models have come out.
http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/systems/Mac_Pro/Bluetooth_MacPro_install/Bluetooth_Ma cPro_install.html
Just make sure that the part will work in your model Mac Pro. To that end, you may be better off avoiding eBay and going to a parts reseller. There are even third party cards that use the internal Apple bluetooth slot.
http://fastmac.com/bluetooth.php
In theory, using a USB or PCI card will work at login so long as it is recognized by Apples drivers. You say you need to launch an application to use your current USB Bluetooth dongle? If it is not controlled by the Bluetooth icon in the menu bar then it must be using a third party driver of some sort. Unfortunately, I don't know off hand which USB and PCI cards are supported. -
From 1 DB:Data size bigger than max size for this type
I am getting error while inserting text file as a string in the table (oracle DB)as :java.sql.SQLException: Data size bigger than max size for this type: 11412

I have pasted the code below. I am using "String" to hold the message (strQueueMessage). That should be the problem
Pls let me know How should I overcome this problem.

Data size bigger than max size for this type - DB Control
All,
We are using a Java Control to fetch and store data
- it fetches data from a webservice through a webservice control
- it stores data in to database using a database control (stores the data as BLOB)
Here currently we facing an error - weblogic.jws.control.ControlException: ControlException on control databaseManager[Data size bigger than max size for this type: 4516]
The data is definitely not overshooting the max capacity of BLOB which is 4 GB. Initially this process was overshooting the transaction time-out limit of 300 sec but currently this is well within the transaction time-out limit and error happens soon after the webservice returns the data.
a. Are there any known issues with using BLOB's with database controls ?
b. what are the options - if we face this error ?

Hi Sudeep. The problem is that WLW is trying to set the datum as a byte array
and the oracle driver won't take a byte array that big. Please check whether
WebLogic Workshop has any explicit instructions for BLOB data. Otherwise, do
contact official BEA support for your WebLogic WorkShop issue.

What all is needed for this type of Flash Design Studio.
There are a couple of sites out there that use both flash and
shockwave. I am looking ot get somethign like this started and need

There

shockwave.
Of the examples you showed, I saw Flash (Adobe Flash),
Shockwave (Adobe
Director), and JavaScript, but never a combination on the
same site. (It
might make sense to combine Flash with JavaScript or
Shockwave with
JavaScript, but not really to combine Flash with Shockwave.)
> I am looking ot get somethign like this started and need

> getting pointed in the right direction.
Any of the above technologies will do it. You could also use
a Java
applet or even a .NET solution of some kind, so the choice
you take will
depend largely on what platform you want to support and code
for. This sort
of project will require significant amounts of custom
programming. My
personal approach would be to use Flash, mainly because of
the popularity of
the plugin. The Shockwave example looks beautiful, and I
started out years
ago using Director, but fewer people nowadays have the
Shockwave plugin
installed. It doesn't look like any of the sites shown use 3D
modeling,
which is the only relevant feature that Shockwave has over
the other
approaches. JavaScript (probably some Ajax approach) would
work -- as
seen -- but then you're dealing with compatibility issues
among various
JavaScript implementations in the great variety of browsers
out there.
Flash minimizes that, in my opinion.
All you really "need" to produce what you've seen is Flash
and some sort
of database back end (MySQL, say), which means you'll need a
bit of
middleware (PHP, ASP, Cold Fusion, etc.) to act as your
ambassador between
Flash and the database.

The server farm account should not be used for other services
I have created a new SharePoint Foundation 2013 Farm. I only used the Farm Configuration Wizard to create the Search Service Application, all other aspects of the Farm was created using PowerShell.
The SharePoint Health Analyzer is reporting the following error:
Title: The server farm account should not be used for other services.
Severity: 1 - Error
Category: Security
Explanation: DOMAIN\FARM_ACCOUNT, the account used for the SharePoint timer service and the central administration site, is highly privileged and should not be used for any other services on any machines in the server farm. The following services were
found to use this account: Distributed Cache Service(Windows Service)
Remedy: Browse to
http://centraladminsite:port/_admin/FarmCredentialManagement.aspx and change the account used for the services listed in the explanation. For more information about this rule, see "http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=142685".
Now I understand how to change the account used to run the Distributed Cache Service, but my query is what account should I use in the least privelage model? I have setup the following 6 accounts as per TechNet guidelines (Link)
and am not sure if one of these accounts should be used or if another account is required:
SQL Server service account
Setup user account
Server farm account
SharePoint Server Search service account
Default content access account
Application pool identity
After reviewing the TechNet article again, I don't fully understand the section titled "Service application accounts". Is the article advising me to create a seperate account for each row in the table? e.g. 1 account for Business Data Connectivity
Service, a different account for "Application Discovery and Load Balancer Service", another account for "App management" and another account for "Distributed Cache", so 4 extra accounts if I choose to install all of these services
within the Farm?
Also, what does the article mean when it says "Plan one set of an application pool and proxy group for each service application that you plan to implement."? How do I go about doing this?
Kevin EvansAfter reviewing the TechNet article again, I don't fully understand the section titled "Service application accounts". Is the article advising me to create a seperate account for each row in the table? e.g. 1 account for Business Data Connectivity Service,

Inder: Yes, It is suggested to have multiple service account for each service application. This increases security and dependencyof 1 account on multiple Service applications. Like below
SQL Server service
Local System account (default)
Setup user
Member of the Administrators group on the local computer
Server farm
Network Service (default)
No manual configuration is necessary.
SharePoint Server Search Service
By default, this account runs as the Local System account.
If you want to crawl remote content by changing the default content access account or by using crawl rules, change this to a domain user account. If you do not change this account to a domain user account, you cannot change the default content access account
to a domain user account or add crawl rules to crawl this content. This restriction is designed to prevent elevation of privilege for any other process running as the Local System account.
Default Content Access
No manual configuration is necessary if this account is only crawling local farm content. If you want to crawl remote content by using crawl rules, change this to a domain user account, and apply the requirements listed for a server farm.
Content Access
Same requirement as the default content access account.
Profile import Default Access
Same requirements as server farm.
Excel Services Unattended Service
Must be a domain user account.
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc263445%28v=office.15%29.aspx
Also, what does the article mean when it says "Plan one set of an application pool and proxy group for each service application that you plan to implement."? How do I go about doing this?
Inder: Each service account has a application pool and you can plan to use same application pool for multiple
service accounts if required. These application pool are then consumed by proxy connection
of each service application. On service application pool, you can see all the service applications and its proxy connection.

IllegalStateException:output stream is already being used for this request
How to read binary data in JSP. I know, in servlets it can be done and JSP can handle only character data. When i try to open res.getOutputStream(), it is throwing the following exception:"IllegalStateException:output stream is already being used for this request". Is there any workaround in JSP?
Can you save the file to a location in your server ? Even if you are creating a dynamic image, all you get is a byte array which can be stored in your server. If you can do so, you can set the content type and display the content as mentioned above.

Here's basically what I did:
-In the Flow Navigator, i select the IP Catalog button.
-In the search field of the IP Catalog, I type DDS.
-then I double-click the DDS Compiler and my error occure.
Please Help,

We had the same problem when switching to Ubuntu 14.04, and there actually is a solution for it: make sure your locales are set to English.
$> env | grep LC_*
should only show english (or C) locales, all others are known to cause parsing errors in some numbers, usually caused by wrong string-to-float conversions (e.g. 18,29 in german is 18.29 in english). You can change the locales in the file /etc/default/localesThis is not the first time we had problems with the locale settings, Xilinx does not seem to test their software with anything else than en_US, causing obscure bugs like this one.

My requirement is to update 3 valuesets daily based on data coming to my staging table. What is the API used for this and how to map any API to our staging table? I am totally new to oracle and apps. Please help. Thanks!
Hi,
You could use FND_FLEX_LOADER_APIS.UP_VALUE_SET_VALUE to upload them from staging table (I suppose you mean value set values...).
You can find a sample scripts if you google around.
What do you mean "how to map any API to our staging table" ?
You should do at least the following mapping (which column(s) in the staging table will provide these information):
- the 3 value sets name which you're going to update/upload (I suppose these are existing value sets or which have been already created)
- the value set values and description
Try to start with something and if there is any issues the community could then help... but for the time being with the description of the problem you have provided, that's the best I can do...
