  • 2.1PROD/EA2: Show Errors problems

With 2.1EA2 (JDK 1.6.0_16), the "show errors" command still doesn't ever seem to report errors (long time problem for me - see 1.5PROD/EA3/EA2/EA1 - BUG: Show Errors for View says no errors when errors). As well as that, when trying to run a show errors statement, nothing appears in the statement output window (which it does open if it is not there already) and I get the following text to the logging page:
The following was not written to the Script Runner Result Window as the outputStream was closed:No Errors.
    theFurryOne

At least 2.1 production has improved the display of the "No errors" message - this always appears in the statement output window. However, this functionality is still not working properly (at least compared to the SQL Plus command that it is meant to be an equivalent of).
In SQL Plus, the "show errors" (on it's own) displays the errors (if any) from the last PL/SQL object created in the current connection. However, additional parameters can also be used to display errors for any other objects. The first way appears to be the only way that SQL Developer treats any show errors command - even if using those additional parameters which should change which object the errors should be reported for.
As an example, the following code:
create or replace force view xxx_dummy_v
    as
    select d.fred
    from   dual d
show errors view xxx_dummy_vIn SQL Plus, this reports the error in the xxx_dummy_v view (d.fred is an invalid identifer).
In SQL Developer, this same code reports "No errors", unless I have created PL/SQL objects in the same connection and the last one had errors, in which case it reports the errors from that last created PL/SQL object.
Is it possible to improve the functionality of the "show errors" in SQL Developer to match the same command in SQL Plus? If not, it would be better to have an error displayed in the statement output if you attempt to run show errors with any parameters, as they are ignored. Getting errors for package A when requesting errors for view B is just wrong.

  • Error in converting SQL 2014 Trial to Full version using VLKey

    Hi,
I am currently trying to upgrade my SQL 2014 evaluation version to the full version.
I have purchased a Volume License for SQL Server 2014 Server/CAL and have extracted the product key from the ISO File.
I have verified this product key with the product activation department and it is confirmed that it is a valid product key "ProdKey3 SQL Svr Standard Edtn 2014 00204 PA/BP VL:GVLK Pre Pidded"
However, when i input the product key in to the server, it is showing me the error message:
The SQL product key is not valid, enter key from certificate of authenticity or SQL server packaging
Checked on the version of the evaluation and this is the edition - Microsoft SQL Server 2014.0120.2000.08
The site that I am activating the server on does not have any internet connection, does this affect the activation?
Would there be an alternate phone activation method for converting to Trial to Full?
    Kindly Assist. Thank you.

    Hi Julian,
Firstly, according to the error message, please ensure that your SQL Server installation file is not corrupt, and make sure you use corresponding license key matched the edition and version of SQL Server. For more details about the error, please review the
    similar
    thread.
Secondly, in addition to Ed’s post, you can also use the following command lines to upgrade SQL Server 2014 Trial to a full version.
    Setup.exe /q /ACTION=editionupgrade /INSTANCENAME=<MSSQLSERVER or instancename> /PID=<PID key for new edition>" /IACCEPTSQLSERVERLICENSETERMS
Thirdly, for more detailed information regarding to the license issue, please call
    1-800-426-9400,
Monday through Friday, 6:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. (Pacific Time) to speak directly to a Microsoft licensing specialist. For international customers, please use the Guide to Worldwide Microsoft Licensing Sites to find contact information in your locations.
    Thanks,

    Hello,
    I'm trying to install statspack on a 11.1.0.7 64bit RDBMS on Windows 2008 R2.

I don't know if it is a problem with this particular version of the rdbms.

  • Show hyperlink in a sql report

    All,
How do you show a link in a SQL PLus report ? I want to add a link to one column.
Got a suggestion saying to do,
    SQL> select 'oracle' from dual;
When I do this and spool it to a file, the column gets big because the source code shows everything from <a to </a>
How can I achieve this ?
    Thanks

I get rows will be truncated messages up alsoYou are getting SQL*Plus error messages at the time of the spool? So, this has nothing to do with how browser is rendering the HTML table. Most of the browsers will resize the html table based on the display width available to the browser window. Resizing the browser window widht will automatically resize the html table columns width. While printing it should be able to resize the html table so as to fit on your paper size (as much as it can).
As for the errors while spooling, you need to check your SQL*Plus settings like LINESIZE.
Please post the cut-n-paste of the SQL*Plus session where you give your markup command and the spool command followed by any warnings/errors displayed by SQL*Plus.
but actually if you see the source, it displays everything starting from , and hence the column becomes too wideWhy would you be loading the html source into an editor outside of the browser to look at it? It obviously contain that markup tags that tell the browser what the link is and what URL it referes to when clicked. That obviously will take some space on the html source since it is just plain markup information for the browser to be able to render the page correctly.
If the page appears correctly on browser window, if it resizes with the browser window, if it prints correctly, you are fine.
Did you try any of these? what is the actual issue? does the report not print correctly when printed from the browser print page support?

  • ORA-3113 Error in pl/sql

    Hi,
I am working in oracle9i and solaris 8.If i execute a package in Pl/sql it shows error as
    ora-03113 end-of-file on communication channel...
but the same package if i executed in TOAD means it's working fine ....
    Please explain me...

If i execute a package in Pl/sql Do you mean in SQL*Plus (as opposed to TOAD)?
ORA-3113 is a generic error, usually meaning the client did something the server didn't like. This can often be caused by incompatibilities between the versions of the client and the database server.
Unfortunately the generic nature of teh error makes it hard for us to give you a specific answer, Is there anything in the alert log file?
    Cheers, APC

You need to be running the correct version of the database. You are running 9.2.0.1.0 or 9.2.0.2.0. The basicDemo requires 9.2.0.3.0 or later. The earlier versions are NOT supported for XML DB.

  • Error in compiling SQL Expression

In the [Error in SQL Expression; thread, Kurt Reinhardt wrote "Please note, a SQL Expression can only return a single, distinct value per each record in the main recordset.", I tried this where my main Record Selection's SQL query is:
    {GLF_LDG_ACC_TRANS.ldg_name} = {@&CH_LDG_GL_ACT_CURR} and
    {GLF_LDG_ACC_TRANS.period} = {@&CH_PERIOD_GL_CURR} and
    {GLF_LDG_ACC_TRANS.ACCNBRI}  "99991103" and
    {GLF_LDG_ACC_TRANS.DOC_REF1}  "{%SundryCreditors}" and
    {GLF_LDG_ACC_TRANS.DOC_TYPE} = "$APINVCE"
    My SQL Expression %SundryCreditors is:
    select doc_ref1
    from glf_ldg_acc_trans
    where ldg_name = 'APLED09'
      and period = "GLF_LDG_ACC_TRANS"."PERIOD"
      and doc_ref1 = "GLF_LDG_ACC_TRANS"."DOC_REF1"
      and accnbri like 'SUNDRY%'
which essentially queries the same table as the main recordset using the same key fields, and returns one row only. However, when I click on the Check button in the Formula Workshop window, I get the error message "Error in compiling SQL Expression : Database Connection Error: '42000:MicrosoftODBC SQL Server DriverSQL ServerIncorrect syntax near the keyword 'select'. Database Vendor Code: 156 '".
Do you know what is my issue?

If you know what you're doing, you can add a full select statement into a SQL Expression... And Kurt is correct when he says that it may only return a single row of info. Don is also correct when he says that this not what SQL commands are designed for.
    Here's what's happening...
When you link your tables in the Database Expert and drop fields onto the design surface (and optionally, add criteria to the Select Expert), CR builds out a SQL statement that can is to be sent out to the db server so that the data can be returned. You can view this SQL by going to Database > Show SQL Query...
When you add a SQL Expression, CR inserts it into the SQL Query as another data column. This is typically done to take advantage of functions that are available in the data base but not in CR.
A few crafty individuals, like Kurt, have figured out that you can in fact inset a full SELECT query into a SQL Expression and it will be inserted into the CR generated querie's SELECT list as a sub-query.
Bear in mind 2 things... #1) You have to be familiar with SQL syntax, namely you have to know the proper syntax for using sub-queries in a SELECT list in your data base. #2) CR doesn't officially support is behavior and they won't offer you any help if the current functionality is removed in later versions.
    HTH,
    Jason

  • Error in executing SQL query

    Hi All,
I am working with labview application.
The database being used is Access.
The tables i have to use contains the special symbol -   (not underscore.)
Let the table name be user-data
When i am executing the query select * from user-data its showing
error message syntax error in from clause.
I tried just typing the query in access also and got the same error.
I believe its because of the usage of the special character other than underscore in table name
Many applications using the same database is running in VB already. So there is no way for me to rename the table.
I know i am asking an invalid question. But still....
Is there any way for me to use the same table name and execute sql query.
    Thanks in advance

There should be. Try putting the table name in quotes - some DBMS use single quotes, some use double quotes. For example say the table name has a space in it. Try something like:
    select * from 'a funny table';
    or
select * from "a funny table";   (Actually, I think I'd try this one first...)
Failing this, you have two choices: change the name of the table, or dump Access and go with a real DBMS - which you will probibly want to do anyway because it will only be a matter of time before you start hitting a performance wall. Access is particularly bad if you have more than one process making a connection to it at a time. Interms of alternatives, there are a couple really good open-source products out there, as well as no-cost versions of Oracle and SQL-Server.
