Show HTML-file as Portlet ?

We are using Portal 3.0.6.
Using the HTML-portlet you have to cut and paste HTML code.
Is there any easier way (~ browse file) to add an HTML-file as a Portlet to an region?

Do you mean that the HTML file to upload should be specified as an URL item in an Content Area folder?

  • JEditorPane problem with showing html file

    Hey,
    I have a JEditorPane in which I would like to show a HTML file that is stored in the same directory (local, not from the web).
           String url = "index.html";
            try
                JEditorPane htmlPane = new JEditorPane(url);
                htmlPane.setEditable(false);
                frame.add(new JScrollPane(htmlPane));
            catch(IOException ioe)
                System.err.println("Error displaying " + url);
            } It should also work once the whole program is "packaged" into a .jar file.
    With the code above I cant get the index.html file to be displayed in the htmlPane.
    Any suggestions?
    thanks.

    The JEditorPane has a method called setPage that loads a URL into the pane, you can always transform internal jar locations to URLs using e.g. CurrentObject.class.getResource("/internal/jar/location/text.html")

    1. There is no reliable way of guessing the encoding of a file without that information. Thats why XML for example has very strict rules wrt. it's encoding (short form: use UTF-8 or UTF-16, if you use anything else, you'll have to specify it)
    2. you might be able to make an educated guess if the possible range of encodings is limited, but it will probably never be 100% certain
    3. The HTML file might have a header entry "<meta http-equiv..." that tells you about it's encoding. You could try to read the start of the file and see if you find that, then if you found it re-read the entire file.

  • Viewing HTML file

    i don't know how to view an html file, is there a command that let me call the explorer and load the file ?
    or is there a container or a class that shows html files ?
    thanks

    Creating HTML through Microsoft Word is not a good idea, it has to create the worst HTML I have ever seen. However to get your links working you will need to write a hyperlink listener. Theres an example in the javaDoc for JEditorPane http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.1/docs/api/javax/swing/JEditorPane.html

  • Elements do not show up in edge file but they do in HTML file; no errors occured

    I am a senior in college working on building a website for a fictional company for a year-long thesis graphic design project. In my class last semester, I learned how to use Edge Animate and created an 11 page website without any trouble. I had always kept the files saved to my flash drive, and kept a backup on my personal laptop as well as on my external hard drive. There was also a backup of the files on a disc that I turned into my professor in mid-December. All of these files worked fine at the time.
    In early January, I wanted to make changes to the website so I installed a trial version of Edge Animate on my laptop. When I opened any of the edge files from any of the backups, the stage was blank and the animations did not show up on the timeline. The elements of the website still show up in the Library but they are no longer arranged on the stage. When I got back to school at the end of January, I tried opening the files on the school computers and had the same problem. I asked my professor to try the file that was saved to the disc and he encountered the same issues on his computer. All of these computers are either iMacs or Macbook Pros.
    I have not recieved any error messages and did not do anything to corrupt the files or save over them. I am able to open the html files in a browser with no issues; all animations and images work fine. The only change I can think of is that Edge may have been updated over break and when I installed the trial version I installed a newer version, and for some reason the new version of the program could not properly load my project that I started on a older version in October or November of 2013.
    I am happy to upload the files but I am unsure how to do that. Please let me know if there is a way to resolve this issue, or will I have to start over?
    Thank you!

    Try to clear your preference and restart your Animate.See if that fixes your problem
    http://helpx.adobe.com/edge-animate/kb/restore-preferences-edge-animate.html
    If  that does not work see if there is a lloopback address lookup.
    Check out the correct answer in this post to fix that http://forums.adobe.com/message/6116991

  • My imported backup html files from another computer do not show up after import

    I am currently transferring files from my macbook pro to a pc netbook. I already exported my firefox bookmarks via an external drive and accessed the html file on my new netbook. After importing the html on firefox on my new netbook, the bookmarks do not show up on my bookmark list.

    Please see this article on how to move your bookmarks and settings from one computer to another: [[Moving your Firefox bookmarks and settings]].
    Caution: Restoring bookmarks from a backup will overwrite your current set of bookmarks with the ones in the backup file.

  • Bitmap image won't show after converting HTML file to pdf

    I have a program which saves a technical report as a HTML file. I don't  have another choice as to file type to save as. This program has a  template which generates the report....and there are fields which are  filled in...some text fields, and one is a company logo. Just to be  clear the logo itself is not in the template, a holding place is there  which points to the location of the logo on my drive. This is all set up  by the program and can't be altered.
    If I save the logo as a jpg, png or tiff file, the logo shows up in the  final HTML report and if I use Adobe Professional (version 7.0 on Win XP)  to create a pdf the  image also shows up - a perfect replica of the report is created in pdf,  making it convenient for printing and email.
    If I save the logo as a bitmap file (which creates a higher resolution  and sharper looking logo) the logo shows up in the initial HTML  technical report, but when I convert this to pdf the file is not found,  instead it shows as a small square red box with the error "Bad file  image" or "unable to download image".
    I can't understand why this would be the case as the logo is saved in  the same location whether it is jpg, png, tiff or bmp. It just seems  that the Adobe Pro doesn't know how to "find" the bitmap logo from the  HTML template.
    I did try converting the HTML document to Word but it threw the  formatting out and when it was converted to pdf it cropped the page  & I wasn't able to resolve this...maybe it can be done but it is a  long way around in any case, particularly if steps then need to be taken  to correct the formatting.
    At the moment the document can be printed with success from the original  format - then it's a matter of scanning the printed document in order  to email. It can't be emailed directly because of the embedded  information which is lost if then sent to the recipient's computer.  However it would be nice if the doc could be converted to pdf which  would then make it easier to transfer the file to a backup drive or for  email.  Any ideas? Thanks

    Thanks for your response. Yes I did mean .bmp files.
    The problem is not getting it to show in HTML - but Adobe then picking it up from there. I guess though if it is not a standard format for HTML then maybe Adobe has trouble recognising it if it is there. Also, it is possible for Adobe to convert .bmp files if they are inserted in the HTML file, but I have instead a template with the code for the location of the file rather than the graphic itself.  I don't have this problem using the other file formats and getting them into pdf...it's just that the images aren't as sharp as the bmp. I have tried various formats and resolutions so if there isn't a way I can get the bmp from the HTML file into pdf I might just have to live with printing and scanning from the original. Thanks for your input, it confirms what I was thinking. I'll leave this unanswered for now in case someone else has further information.

  • Help to show a HTML file in Swing

    Hiiiiiiiiiii,
    During my development Me in a problem . Please help me out.
    As per my current context of the project I have to develop a HTML page with Help of CSS and all other things. After that I have to Show the HTML file through Swing. I know how to attach a file with help of URL but need some help to show a HTML file in Swing.
    *help to show a HTML file in Swing*

    As camickr said Javascript support is not available. If you want to support you have to write code for that. Up to an extent CSS support is provided.
    Sample code to display HTML pages in JTexPane (you can use JEditorPane as well):
    Construct the URL:
    URL url = YourClass.class.getResource("resources/Hello.html");
    // If YourClass is in package test.html, then your html page must be available in .....test/html/resources directory.
    // And your CSS files must be accessible from your HTML page. This you can test by simply opening the html
    // page in your favorite browser.And then call setPage() method of HelpDataPane. Note that, HelpDataPane supports hyperlink activation.
    import java.io.IOException;
    import java.net.URL;
    import javax.swing.JTextPane;
    import javax.swing.event.HyperlinkEvent;
    import javax.swing.event.HyperlinkListener;
    * A pane to display help pages. Help pages are accessed as URL and displayed
    * in this pane.
    * @author Mrityunjoy Saha
    * @version 1.0
    public class HelpDataPane extends JTextPane {
         * Creates a new instance of {@code HelpDataPane}.
        public HelpDataPane() {
            super();
            this.addHyperlinkListener(new HyperlinkListener() {
                public void hyperlinkUpdate(HyperlinkEvent e) {
                    if (e.getEventType().equals(HyperlinkEvent.EventType.ACTIVATED)) {
                        setPage(e.getURL());
         * Sets the current URL being displayed.  The content type of the
         * pane is set, and if the editor kit for the pane is
         * non-{@code null}, then
         * a new default document is created and the URL is read into it.
         * @param page The URL to be displayed.

                super.setPage(page);
            } catch (IOException ex) {
                try {
                    URL blankURL = YourClass.class.getResource("resources/Blank.html");

  • The icons for html files are blank . . . how do i get them to show the firefox image

    on the desktop and in directories, the icons for html files are blank . . .
    firefox is my default browser . . .
    how do i get the icons to show the firefox image ?? . . .

    You can check for issues with the Windows icon cache and try to rebuild the icon cache.
    # Open the Task Manager (Shift+Ctrl+ESC)
    # In the Process tab, right-click on the Explorer.exe process and select End Process.
    # Open the file picker via "File > New Task (Run)" and click the Browse button.
    # Type or Paste %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local (%LocalAppData%) in the File name field (AppData is a hidden folder).
    # Select the IconCache.db file and use "Delete" in the right-click context menu to delete the file.
    # After the IconCache.db file has been deleted, start a new explorer.exe process via "File > New Task" to get the desktop and Taskbar back.
    The IconCache.db file is a hidden file, so make sure that you can see hidden files.

  • Calling html file within web.show document as a report output

    /* this is blank html file included javascript for disabling mouse right click working fine*/
    WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT ('http://prod.artisticmilliners.com:8000/files/file.html','_blank');
    /* this is oracle report output within model frame working fine*/
    WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT ('javascript:void(window.open("'|| URL || '","","location=no,toolbar=no,menubar=no,status=no,"));self.close()','_self');
    I want to add show report output with right mouse click disable. Pleae guide how can i do it?

    Let me start by saying that disabling the right mouse will do nothing but frustrate users. It doesn't protect the page content from anything. There are various other ways to get the content from the page copied locally. And more importantly, this does not_ offer any kind of security.
    Ok, so you have decided to do it anyway ;)
    In order to make this happen, you would need to modify the report. I will assume that when you said "report" you meant Oracle Reports. Open the report file (.rdf) and edit the report's "Before Report Value".
    The default value is:
    <html>
    <head>
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type"  content="text/html; charset=&Encoding">
    </head>
    <body dir=&Direction bgcolor="#ffffff">Change it to this:
    <html>
    <head>
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type"  content="text/html; charset=&Encoding">
    </head>
    <script language="javascript">
    document.onmousedown=disableclick;
    status="Right Click Disabled";
    Function disableclick(e)
      if(event.button==2)
         alert(status);
         return false;
    </script>
    <body oncontextmenu="return false" dir=&Direction bgcolor="#ffffff">Save the changes and retest.

  • Viewing an HTML file in a portlet &

    Dear reader:
    I need to view an HTML file in a portlet according to a specified parameter passed via URL address, can i use url.display_url or not, and how? and if not what should i use?
    and related to that how can i call a portlet (or a page published as portlet)to override an existing one (programatically)?
    thank you for your time.

    Check out the multi page portlet in the February PDK for an example of how to display a second portlet in place of the first portlet. As for your first question, please try posting your question to the Oracle Portal Development Kit (PDK) forum, where you'll find the expertise you require.

    To bring in content from another url, I've used code similar to the following within a Dynamic Page portlet with alot of success...
    <html>
    <table>

  • Program not showing in open with context for HTML files

    I have a windows 8.1 64 Pro PC with a program called 1stPage.exe installed.
    When I right click a .txt file I get 'Edit with 1st Page' in the context menu and it also shows in the open
    with menu.
    However HTML files do not show these options. I have checked the registry and it would appear that the program
    is set up on the open with menu exactly the same for both file types.
    So it would appear that something is blocking 1stPage from showing against HTML files but I can't figure out
    what I need to change.
    Cheers
    Baz

    OK we have further developments
    I tried installing this program on a Windows 7 32bit machine and I get exactly the same issue.
    I tried it with both IE and chrome as default browsers and I tried changing default html editor.
    I therefore suspect this when this program installs it is not setting all the registry entries windows 7/8
    require.
    I know it's an old program but I have been using it for years and see no reason to change.
    So I need help in understanding what I need to do to get windows 7/8 to display the context menu entry correctly

  • Showing DPS functionality with HTML file?

    Hello,
    I am mocking up a website using InDesign, and I have indicated the interactivity using DPS (buttons, scrolls, MSOs, etc). I'm wondering if there's a way I can export an HTML file that will show all the functionality? If not HTML, is there another file format that I could save, that is not a .folio? I want to be able to email a file to people who do not have InDesign or the Adobe Content Viewer.

    No to both. If you want to preview this content with someone they need to install Adobe Content Viewer and then you can share the folio with them for review.
