Show ip mroute count interpertation

I've inherited a configuration, and I'm trying to understand it.
Almost all of our L3 switches have a command:
ip multicast route-limit 500
But I'm not sure how the switch (3750) is interpreting this.
Running a:
sho ip mroute count
results with the following information:
Multicast route-limit: 500
IP Multicast Statistics
434 routes using 1738880 bytes of memory
44 groups, 8.86 average sources per group
Then all of my groups, with all of the sources for each group.
So each Source, in every group, is counted as a route?
The reason I ask, we're upping the number of devices we're using (So more sources will show up, each device joins three multicast groups as a sender)
So that limit should be (in my case since each device joins three groups) Number of devices * 3 plus a fudge factor ?

I don't have a switch to test with but i assume it is working it out as follows -
1) each group will have a (*, <group IP address>) in the mroute table so 44 of those.
2) then for each group there are 8.86 average source so  44 * 8.86 = 389.94 so 390.
3) 390 + 44 = 434 which is what exactly what your mroute count is showing.
each source creates a new entry per group in the mroute table. If you pick a couple of groups and look at the mroute table you should see multiple entries for that group address with different source IPs.
It's worth doing the above just in case i am interpreting it incorrectly.
In terms of the limit if the number of groups isn't changing then you just need to account for the increase in source specific entries in the mroute table. If each new source is going to join three groups then yes the number of additional entries should be as you suggest.

  • Inbox and Drafts show unread message count of all folders within. Can I get the local folders to do this too?

I'm filtering mail into folders in the local folder tree. There may be two or three levels, e.g., Local Folders -> Lists -> OS -> MacOSX. Mail that is unread in the MacOSX folder is counted and displayed when the MacOSX folder is visible. However, keeping the entire tree on display is a nuisance and it is long, so I don't see things ate the bottom. I have to scroll to reveal the rest of the items in the folder tree. For these reasons I'd prefer to have the folder tree in its minimal state.
Is it possible to have the the top level folders display an unread message count for all the enclosed folders?

when I collapse the folder tree of local folders, it shows the unread count for sub folders.

JavaMail supports two standard protocols for reading mail POP3 and IMAP.
As explained in the JavaMail FAQ (you found it, right?), the POP3 protocol
doesn't provide information on unread messages.
As far as I know, only Gmail supports IMAP. I don't believe either AOL or MSN
support even POP3, but I'm not sure.

  • Yahoo! Mail in Mail App on iPad 2 iOS 7.0.3 Shows Unread Message Count

Yahoo! Mail in Mail App on iPad 2 iOS 7.0.3 shows unread message count when the Inbox is empty.  This has been an ongoing issue since iOS 7 rolled out.  I was hoping with this latest update that this problem would be fixed.  Just wanted to report it.  If someone knows where bugs get reported, I'd appreciate the link.
None of my other mail programs have this problem.
I perform a reset (holding down the Home button and the Power button) and sometimes this clears it out and sometimes not.  Plus, I don't want to reset my iPad on a constant basis just to clear my mail count.
Any insight or additional information is appreciated.

I think it's an issue with yahoo. I have the same basic set up as you and will open my mail, see that I have 4 unread for example, read them, exit mail and have the red bubble still reading 4 unread mail. Usually it catches up and corrects in a little bit.
Probably jus a glitch between yahoo and the mail app and not much you can do as a user but wait it out or get used to it...or I understand that there's a yahoo app if it really bugs you.

  • Show ip mroute 239.1.1.5 command

    Hello All,
I have a multicast configuration that is now working.  I am trying to gain further understanding on this subject.
When I do a "show ip mroute 239.1.1.5" there is a line in the report that I have not yet been able to find information on what it means as follows:
"Incoming interface: VLAN5, RPF nbr 10.1.3.1*".   The nbr part is what I do not know.
I have included the report in an attachment.
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Jeff

    Jeff
The RPF neighbor is the L3 router/switch that is one hop closer to the source of the multicast stream.
If the RPF neighbor in the (, G) entry was 0.0.0.0 then that would mean the source was directly connected in vlan 5.
In your example the RPF neighbor is 10.1.3.1 which means there is a L3 device with an interface using that IP that is nearer the source of the mutlicast stream.
The RPF (Reverse Path Forwarding) check is done for all multicast packets on a L3 device ie. if the interface the mutlicast packet was received on is the same interface that the IP routing table says is used to route to the source IP then the RPF check is passed and the mutlicast packets can be forwarded to any other interfaces that have devices who want the stream.
If the packet arrives on an interface and according to the IP routing table the route to the source IP is not via that interface then the packet is dropped and not forwarded.
This is how PIM avoids routing loops for multicast traffic.
Edit - the above concerning the ip mroute entries is relevant to PIM dense mode as this is what you are running.

  • SCCM 2012 Software Update Group Statistcs showing wrong Asset Count

Under Software Update Groups in the summary tab the statics section shows total asset count: 5.   I only have this group deployed to only one collection with 1 machine.
I have a second Software Update Group in the summary tab the statics section shows total asset count: 5.   I only have this group deployed to only one collection with 3 machines.
The two collection have only one machine in common.
I tried to run a summarization but these numbers are not updating.
where does the asset count come from and how do I get it to display correctly?
    Thanks,

The asset counts shown in the console for software groups are not specific to any collection or deployment. If you want numbers specific to a collection, you need to use reporting or a console query.

  • Why does Group created on Master console does not show any device count mapped on the managed Amp?

Q: Why does Group created on Master console does not show any device count mapped on the managed Amp?
A: When a group is created on master console it will be pushed to all the managed amp which is added with Manage group configuration enabled. The Group pushed to the managed amp will be created as Global group and you can create subscriber groups for the global group to which you will add the device into since we cannot add any devices into global group directly.
Hence there is no device added to the global group, on the master console it does not show any device count for the groups that are created on master console.

  • Does Apple know about bug in Timer that shows minutes but counts down seconds?

I have a couple of times changed my timer from a few minutes down past zero to 59 or so to time out about an hour.  But the timer, while still showing minutes count down seconds.  This image is a captured screen shot as it is counting down seconds.  But when I cancel the timer, I get which shows the 59 minutes I expected to get.  If I press Start at this point, it will count down seconds.  If I attempt to reproduce conditions, by going to 8 or 9 minutes, then canceling and going to 59 minutes, it works.  It may be that you have to run the timer down to alarm and then try the lower setting.

Does Apple know about bug in Timer that shows minutes but counts down seconds?
How would we know?  Call them and ask.

  • Apple Mail Not Showing Inbox Unread Count on Dock after installing Mavericks

After installing Mavericks, my Apple Mail (connected to my work's Gmail account) stopped showing the Inbox's unread count on the dock. I switched it to "all mailboxes" to see if that would make a difference, and the dock shows 7 unread emails when there are actually none. When I switch it back to "Inbox" unread counts, it shows nothing. I've waited 15 minutes after receiving an email to see if it will show an unread message in the dock, but it does not. Does anyone have a fix for this?
    Thank you!

Quit your mail entirely, then in terminal do:
    mv ~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData/Envelope* ~/Desktop
This moves all your "Envelope Index*" files to your desktop.  An alternative is deleting the files, but this allows you to keep them as a temporary back-up (you can delete them at-will later).  Also, you can move the files from Finder instead of Terminal, if you prefer.
After the files have been moved, re-open Mail
This should re-load all your email messages, updating/restoring the count
While this works, it does not explain the reason the count goes missing, nor does it ensure that the count won't go missing again in the future, but at least it's a temporary workaround.

  • Mail not showing new mail count

Very recently, Mail has stopped showing the new mail count next to the corresponding inbox on the bar on the left side of Mail. There are new emails sitting in the indox but it doesn't show a count. I upgraded to Mavericks and it there were no issues but now this is happening. Any ideas why?

Yes, these can also be removed. Tiger Mail no longer uses them. You can confirm this by looking at their modification date. It should be no later than the date you imported your Panther mail into Tiger mail.

  • Need to show date & a counter in my video - HELP!

I need the date and a counter to show (superimposed?) over the video in my iMovie/iDVD. I know the date and time recorded was imported with the video files from my DV camcorder because they are available in File Info. The video recorded was a court deposition for a lawyer, and they will want the date recorded to show on the video. I'm also guessing they'll want a counter for easy access to certain parts of the video if needed. How can I do this? Is it done in iMovie or iDVD, or can it be done in both? Thanks!

  • Script that will show the character count of all carriage resturns

I have found a bug when exporting an indd to idml. If a a carriage return falls in a character count that is a multiple of 8000 + 1 it is converted to a paragraph separator (u2029). I am in the process of mass exporting around 3000 files to idml for a project. I am trying to come up with a way with a script to check the files to see if carriage returns exist in these locations. I am fairly new to scripting and don't know how this would be done. I know it is possible to get character counts but is it possible to check if a character exists in a certain character count from the beginning of a story? Any help on this would be appreciated.
Also has anyone else ran into this with exporting to idml? I have submitted a bug report. This is can be recreated across multiple computers, OS's and versions of InDesign.

@Blujely – about your initial question about showing a specific character at an n-th position in a story, you could use a simple GREP search in InDesign and restrict that search to a specific story (e.g. the story of a selected piece of text):
Search for the n-th position with the formular in dummy-syntax:
Positive look behind of any character in the exact length n-1 + character
E.g. if you want to look for a "carriage return", defined in GREP as \n at every 10th position, search for:
    (?<=.{9})\n
In your case that would be:
    (?<=.{8000})\n

  • Verizon messaging shows incorrect message count

I have installed the Verizon messaging app on my iPhone 6+ (iOS 8.2). The app continually shows a base message count of 13 messages even after I delete all messages both in the app or through the web interface. How can I zero the message count on the app?

borg_cube, I know that can be frustrating and annoying at the same time. I can help get this resolved for you. Occasionally, the message waiting indicator may be out of sync with your mailbox. In that case, the indicator light or tone is ON but there are no messages waiting, or the indicator light or tone is OFF when there are new messages waiting.   To get the message indicator back in sync  1. Save or delete all new messages 2. Hang up. 3. If the message indicator does not go out or stop within a few minutes, there may be a problem, and you should contact Verizon. 4. If the message indicator does go out or stop, call your own number and leave a message 5. Hang up and wait 6. If the indicator light or tone does not come on within a few minutes, please let us know.  VanetrisC_VZW  Follow us on Twitter @VZWSupport  If my response answered your question please click the "Correct Answer" button under my response.
