Show region server behaviors

Regarding Dreamweaver's dynamic website option of "insert>data object>show region>show if recordset not empty", is there any way to create a show region which only shows the HTML if a particular record from the recordset is not empty?

No.
what I need is that when a recordset does turn up information (i.e. the searched-for database row has inputed values in its columns), yet one of those columns is blank then I do not want to show certains text.

  • Help with repeating region server behavior

    Using instructions in David Powers' book, I've been able to connect to a PHP database and list records in a table using the repeating region server behavior.
    I now have a table like the following example:
    Header 1
    Header 2
    Album
    Image
    Birds
    Bald Eagle
    Birds
    Great Egret
    Birds
    Meadowlark
    Butterflies
    American Lady
    Butterflies
    Common Buckeye
    Butterflies
    Monarch
    Mammals
    Deer
    Mammals
    Flying Squirrel
    Mammals
    Raccoon
    etc.
    etc.
    Is there a way to make the table like the following?
    Header 1
    Header 2
    Album
    Image
    Birds
    Bald Eagle
    Great Egret
    Meadowlark
    Butterflies
    American Lady
    Common Buckeye
    Monarch
    Mammals
    Deer
    Flying Squirrel
    Raccoon
    etc.
    etc.
    Thank you for helping a novice with this.

    This is a user-to-user forum for the (discontinued) Dreamweaver extension 'ADDT' which doesn´t come with such a server behaviour. BTW, it´s hard to guess which extension you´re referring to exactly, and I suggest contacting the developer of that extension for help.

  • Update Record Does Not Show in Server Behaviors Pane

    I am using Dreamweaver CS4 on a Windows 7 machine. I am coding in ASP VBScript. When I apply an Update Record behavior to a form and upload the file to the server, it works fine. However, the Update Record does not show in the Server Behaviors pane. Therefore, I cannot click on it to make further edits to it. When I open this same file in Dreamweaver CS3 on a Windows XP machine, I do see the Update Record behavior in the Server Behaviors pane and I can click on it to make it edits. What do I need to do to get the Update Record behavior to show?

    Probably not the answer you are looking for, but support for traditional ASP has not been a focus of DW development, nor has it been for Windows 7 for
    that matter. ASP is a "depreciated" language and support for it is dwindling. The I don't know exact reason for what is happening to you here, but I'd imagine it's an issue with CS4s translators and the combination of the feature sets in both Win 7 and CS4 not "worrying" about ASP as much as they used to.

  • Locked Regions & Server Behaviors

    Hi:
    Any help to resolve this problem
    making this change would require changing code that is locked
    by a template or a translator
    I use templates in all of my projects along with server
    behaviors, and i frequently get this error.
    I have worked around this by adding necessary recordset
    behaviors before applying template but sometimes you don't know
    always what you would be requiring at the end and even if i do know
    the Recordset pagination invokes this error which I actually use
    after applying template to my page.
    Sometimes i would apply a recordset in a temporary file and
    will copy the pertinent code from there to the page i am working
    on.
    I want an efficient approach to use server behaviors without
    any conflict with templates. I usually have simple templates with a
    single editable field for recordset display.
    Is it something wrong with the way I am creating template or
    what should be the approach to avoid this error. Further sometimes
    I do have server behaviors inside templates (not always).
    P.S. Post earlier to General Category but I believe this is
    the right one.

    The page validates without adding the SB?
    I can see nothing wrong with your markup as posted.

  • How to make server behaviors repeat region vertical?

    I have done many "Server Behavior, Repeat Region" showing vertical list without any other setup, now I’m doing a new one and is showing horizontal which doesn't make any sense. Does anybody know why and how to fix this “bad behavior”?

    This is very simple page no external or internal css is for internal use only to retrieve data base information. I currently have to more from different sites working fine without any third party app or any extra coding effort.  here are codes.

  • Show region if empty not working (ASP)

    I have created an app in ASP (not .NET) to record some supplier stock info, with a summary page displaying a filtered recordset based upon the logged in user which is working fine and dandy... the problem lies when no records exist for the current user the summary page is coming back with the standard ASP, ADO error meaning no records exist: -
    ADODB.Field error '800a0bcd'
    Either BOF or EOF is True, or the current record has been deleted. Requested operation requires a current record.
    So I have tried adding "show region" behaviors to show a "no records exist" message and hiding the table containing the summary info, but the above error is still showing when I would only expect the "no records exist" message to display... page code as follows, all help appreciated..!

    It depends on the markup situation, for example if your
    images are *not* wrapped in a container element that contains just
    the image, then I would do something like this:
    <img spry:if="'{boximage}' != '' &amp;&amp;
    '{boximage}' != 'undefined'" src="{boximage}" />
    <img spry:if="'{boximage}' == '' || '{boximage}' ==
    'undefined'" src="MissingImage.jpg" />
    Or in the case of the products demo where we have an image in
    a <p> I would use a spry:choose:
    <p spry:choose="choose">
    <img spry:when="'{boximage}' != '' &amp;&amp;
    '{boximage}' != 'undefined'" src="{boximage}" />
    <img spry:default="default" src="MissingImage.jpg" />
    </p>
    Using spry:choose where you can is better because it means
    the region processing code has one less conditional expression to
    evaluate since the default case has no expression associated with
    it.

  • Show region if field in recordset is NOT empty

    Hi
    Ive been using dreamweaver's built in "show region if
    recordset is not empty," but now i need to change the code so that
    it "shows the region if a field in the recordset is empty"
    Does anyone know how to do this ?
    below is my code for "show region if recordset is not empty"
    recordset: rsUser
    field to filter:image
    <div id="avatar">
    <?php if ($totalRows_rsUser > 0) { // Show if
    recordset not empty ?>
    <img src="uploadedImages/userImages/<?php echo
    $rsUser->Fields('image'); ?>" height="92" width="92">
    <?php } // Show if recordset not empty ?></div>
    basically if the field "image" from rsUser is empty i dont
    want the image to show.
    thanks

    Use the Show If recordset Is Empty server behavior.
    <?php if ($totalRows_rsUser == 0) { // Show if recordset
    empty ?>
    <p>Empty</p>
    <?php } // Show if recordset empty ?>

  • Parse errors from server behaviors

    I have created an input form for a mysql/php database set up on my testing server with a set of fields in a repeat region. All the fields are properly displayed when I switch to LiveView or browser preview. I am, however, having the following problem with server behaviors:
    If I add “Display Total Records” at the bottom, it displays just fine, but if I try to add the behaviors for previous page, next page, starting record number or ending record number, I get this:
    Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ';' in C:\XAMPP\htdocs\LEAP\admin.php on line 81
    Lines 81-84  read:
    $totalPages_VolApp = ceil($totalRows_VolApp/$maxRows_VolApp = 10;
    $pageNum_VolApp = 0;
    if (isset($_GET['pageNum_VolApp'])) {
      $pageNum_VolApp = $_GET['pageNum_VolApp'];
    I also cannot switch the repeat region to “show all records.” This results in a similar syntax error.
    What is a parse error? What problem is indicated? thanks.

    What is a parse error? What problem is indicated? thanks.
    It's an error in code. The error is in the following line:
    $totalPages_VolApp = ceil($totalRows_VolApp/$maxRows_VolApp = 10;
    That line is nonsense in PHP terms. It has almost certainly been created as a result of not removing server behavior code correctly when making changes to a page. You can't edit PHP code simply by selecting dynamic text in Design view and deleting it. To remove a server behavior cleanly, you need to select its name in the Server Behaviors panel and click the minus button.
    The code you have posted here looks so badly corrupted, I suggest you start the page again.

  • Server Behaviors (Newbie questions)

    Hi all,
    I'm new to Dreamweaver and am trying to get a basic site set
    up.
    I have a Linux account with MySql at Godaddy.com for the
    server, and enough of the database set up to get me started.
    The tutorials I have seen always stop short of a full
    explanation so I don't have a good resource for information yet:\
    Is it possible to add server behaviors to pages that are
    based on a template?
    It seems most behavior's I try to add to these forms give
    something like 'cannot add code outside the <html> block,
    changes will be discarded' when I try to apply them - any idea
    whats going on there?
    Is a good source of server behaviors? I downloaded the
    Developer Toolbox and haven't had much luck with any of those tools
    - are they compatable with the standard behaviors (mostly regarding
    login/logout at this point)?
    What do I have to do to get a logout to actually log me out?
    When I click the link, it redirects me to my logged out page, but
    the conditional region (if logged in, show logout, else show login)
    always says logout (I think meaning the logout didn't work)?
    I know I'll have a bunch more questions, but would rather
    look them up until I have a real issue.
    Thanks for any help!

  • How do I add a dynamic 'on sale' message or image?...using show region if?...

    Hi there
    Hope everyone is doing well......
    I have been trying to get this to work but cant figure it out......
    First....
    What I want is to be able to put an 'on sale' image ...... preferably an animated gif.... (little red flame circle with animated SALE,... the same as maaaaany sites).....
    So I have all my product listing and detail pages working fine.... And I know that I could create a new page that only displayed the items on sale.... So that I could just place the animated gif I need above all the items on the page and that would work..... But I have noticed that most sites I have seen dont have a separate on sale page they just have random items on sale.....
    So..... I have my administration section working great using dynamic lists and I can update the product information easily....
    SO I have put an 'on sale' checkbox in my insert/ update product info form......
    But I cant figure out how to make that checkbox trigger a 'show region if database is empty' behavior which would hold the animated gif and only be displayed if I check the checkbox in the product info form.....
    I think I am going about this the right way...... Does this sound correct?
    Is there an easier way..?
    Any help would be great....
    Have a nice day

    Hi there
    Thanks so much for your help......
    I got it all working perfectly.....
    Now I have a working animated sale gif that only appears on the products that I clicked the checkbox in my upload form
    I did not realize that once I had a looped region that everything I put in it would be looped..... I started by dragging my dynamic pro_sale thing... lightning bolt thing.. from the binding tab (not sure what to call those things) and then I inserted the animated gif and selected them both and applied the show conditional region behavior.....
    Then I figure out I didnt need the lightning bolt thing just the image and it still worked..... so thanks a lot
    So thanks again....

  • Download File Server Behavior

    I've successfully implemented the upload file server behavior.  The file uploads, it is in the directory, if I delete the record through DW it also deletes the file in the directory so I know DW knows where the file is stored.
    My problem is with the download file server behavior, I can't seem to configure it to make it work.  It seems rather straight forward.  My dynamic display list displays the records (rows) with the file names but they do not show as links, I cannot click on them.  When I apply the download behavior, I see a generated "download" word added next to the display field on the page but this disappears when the page is actually displayed in a browser.
    Any ideas?

    please provide us a complete vision of your script or what ever your are doing.
    because you miss many things in your question such as what comes before this error or after it... thank you

  • Cannot Edit Duplicate Server Behaviors (bugged?)

    Okay, here's a problem:
    I've got a user login page with two different forms on it -
    one to log in new users, and one to log in existing users. I
    applied a "log in user" server behavior to each of them. Now both
    of these server behaviors are showing up under the Server Behaviors
    menu with the exact same name: "Log In User". When I try to save
    this file I get the following error:
    The Server Behavior panel cannot determine whether "Log In
    User" or "Log In User" is applied to your page. Please select the
    Edit Server Behaviors and change one of the two behaviors to ensure
    that each is uniquely identifiable.
    Clicking on each of them points to the same block of code
    (which logs in the existing user). I cannot delete them using the
    minus sign. When I click on the plus sign and select "Edit Server
    Behaviors" it shows me two other custom behaviors that I'd already
    downloaded (and used on another page) but doesn't show me the "Log
    In User" behavior at all.
    Is there any way to edit these behaviors? Change the name of
    one of them? Right now my page is working perfectly and I wouldn't
    mind the error except for the fact that this page is based on a
    template. Any template changes I make are not updating to this
    page. . . perhaps there's a preference I could change that would
    allow template changes even if an error is encountered?
    Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

    Sylvain; thank you for the reply.  No, this issue impacts entries other than automount as well.
    So far I have observed this with entries consisting of :
    1) top/posixaccount/organizationalPerson/person/inetOrgPerson,
    2) top/groupofuniquenames/posixgroup
    3) top/iphost/nsHost
    4) top/nisNetgroup
    I have double/triple checked the schema and any log files as well to no avail.
    I have opened SR 3-10281206831 related to this issue.

  • Hide Show region vertically

    Hello friends,
    I want to use Tree on Show/Hide region.
    Is there a a way to change the behavior of Hide/Show region. By default it slides down. I need it to slide right.
    Or I have to try jquery accordion.

  • How is a JQuery Vertical Accordian Different Than A Hide-Show Region

    Hello Everyone.
    I an using Apex 4.0.1. I recently learned how to create a JQuery vertical accordian. I'm using the sample accordian that Patrick Wolf recently created/posted. It uses a really nice "accordian template" that he put together. It's really quite useful when it comes to saving space and all on a page.
    Then I began wondering: How is this accordian different than Apex's own builtin Hide-Show Region template?
    And so, I created a sample page on my workspace in apex.oracle.com. I placed a JQuery vertical accordian that consists of 3 regions: 2 reports and a chart. I added a little bit of JQuery to Patrick's template that causes all 3 accordian slices to be closed as opposed to the default behavior of having one slice always open. I also added code that allows a user to re-size the entire accordian either vertically and/or horizontally.
    I then created 3 additional regions that mimic the first 3 regions above. These I placed in "column 2" on the page. For each region I assigned the "Hide-Show" template.
    As far as I can tell, both the accordian and the Hide-Show regions provide the same functionality.
    For the interested, here is a link to my page:
    http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=49919
    The app has open authentication assigned, and so, no login credentials are needed. Please click the "Accordian" tab.
    I realize that the accordian has more flexibilty in that one may add features like choosing to collapse/not collapse all slices and re-sizing, etc. I suppose one could do similarly for the Hide-Show regions using Javascript or JQuery but it would likely be an effort.
    Admittedly, such added features are cool and all. Still, it's been my experience that in the majority of business-like production environments, such "cool" features are pretty much useless. For example, I do not see how re-sizing the accordian or Hide-Show regions has much purpose. In fact, such "cool" features often get in the way of the main goal of the application.
    Of course, a JQuery accordian may also be created that expands/contracts slices "horizontally". I do not know of any way to do the same thing using Hide-Show regions. If someone does know how to do this, I (and likely others) would sure appreciate you sharing how.
    So, then, with respect to basic functionality (saving page real estate by encapsulating several regions), how is a JQuery vertical accordian any different than Apex's own builtin "Hide-Show" region?
    Thank you all for your thoughts/adice/code.
    Elie

    Hello Jari.
    Thank you for your help.
    Yes. Now I do understand what it is you are doing in your accordian page. And also I want to thsnk you for providing the sample code on your page showing how to go about preserving the current state of the accordian when you navigate from/to the page.
    You commented that this kind of state preservation is not available with the Hide/Show region. I'm thinking that you are correct, though I think I once saw something about doing this posted in this Forum. I'll search through and see if I can locate it.
    In any case, have you (or anyone else reading this thread) any other differences between a JQuery vertical accordian and Apex's own Hide/Show region? Other than being able to apply Javascript to an accordian to do things like preserve it's state (like you did), what else may one do with an accordian that is not doable (or at least not easily doable) with a Hide/Show region?
    Thank you for any further advice.
    Elie
