Showing Document properties in the KM document iView

Hello Experts,
I have created a custom property for a repository which displays the number of hits. Now for the iView of a document i need to display this property and its value.
I tried to call the call the abstract portal component (developed to fetch the property) in the xsl but that is not working.
Also i tried to call the getProperty method of RepositoryFramework service in the xsl using jquery but that too is giving an error.
Please let me know the best approach to achieve this requirement.

1) An authentication scheme is a definition of what is required for an authentication process. In the iView you can set what authentication process (UserName/Password, X.509 certificate, etc.) the iView requires. Find more information <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/90/52c43dac1bcf51e10000000a114084/frameset.htm">here</a>.
2) The attribute "Can be Merged" allows you to merge certain objects (worksets, pages, iviews) under the same point in the portal navigation structure. All objects with the same value for attribute "Merge ID" are merged together. The object with the highest value for attribute "Merge Priority" provides the name displayed in the navigation elements (tabs in TLN and links in Detailed Navigation)
3) Find a good explanation of the attribute Entry Point <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/4e/3e703e632c7937e10000000a114084/frameset.htm">here</a>.
4) If this parameter is "true" a debugging screen is displayed before starting the WebDynpro application. Make sure that the parameter DebugMode in the service configuration (=>Applications=>com.sap.portal.appintegrator => Service => Common_Configuration) is not 'false' if you want to use this feature.
5) The attribute Tray Type defines the design of the iView's frame. The attribute can take the following values:
fill: The content area appears with a background color
plain: The content area appears with a white background and a frame
transparent: The background is transparent and the content area appears without a frame

Changing the Position of iview in Detailed Navigation

Hi,
I want to change the position of the iview in detailled navigation, Ex i have 4 iviews in detailed navigation as

now i want to bring 4 up, in the sense between 2 & 3.
One option is by setting the Sort Priority and i'am trying with other option on role level. I'am editing the role which has this 4 iviews assigned, right click on iview 4 and using option Move-->Up. Does this method work, please let me know.

You can try below options -
1) Go to content Administration. Locate your Default Framework Page assigned to your Desktop .Double click it, a new window opens on right side. Out of various iviews, Check Desktop Innerpage and select Open tab. It will display 6 iviews. From the Page Content List of the Desktop Innerpage, select the Detailed Navigation iView (com.sap.portal.detailedNavigationTree) and click Properties. In the displayed Property Editor, check, set, and change the properties of the Detailed Navigation iView, as necessary.
2) You'll get a bak file for detailed navigation area.The par file is com.sap.portal.navigation.detailedtree.par.bak. You can get this par file from server System Admin>>Support>>Portal Runtime>>Browse deployment>>WEB-INF>>Deployment>>pcd. Import this par file into ur NWDS and edit it accordingly.

Why does Thunderbird 31.1.2 see .url files as text documents? As a result, opening with any browser shows only text that are properties of the .url.

I have an email with .url attachments. When I click on them I get a messages similar to this:
You have chosen to open: Test.url
which is: Text Document (5.0KB)
from: mailbox://
What should Thunderbird do with this file?
If I select "Open with Firefox" I get a local page open up in Firefox with the address:

This issue can be caused by an old bitmap version of the Helvetica or Geneva font or (bitmap) fonts that Firefox can't display in that size.
Firefox can't display some old bitmap fonts in a larger size and displays gibberish instead.
You can test that by zooming out (View > Zoom > Zoom Out, Ctrl -) to make the text smaller.
Uninstall (remove) all variants of that not working font to make Firefox use another font or see if you can find a True type version that doesn't show the problem.
There have also been fonts with a Chinese name reported that identify themselves as Helvetica, so check that as well.
Use this test to see if the Helvetica font is causing it (Copy & Paste the code in the location bar and press Enter):

You should reset the network.http prefs that show user set on the about:config page. 
Not all websites support http pipelining and if they do not then you can have issues with images or other problems.

PortalRuntimeException in Business Object document iview No portal component associated with the following context

We are stumped with a problem in our QA Enterprise Portal (7.3.1 Sp7) that throws a portal runtime error when we preview a Business Objects document iview. The Business Objects Server versions are 4.0 SP5 and/or 4.1 SP3.
The error is caught in the the defaultTrace file, /usr/sap/QNW/J00/j2ee/cluster/server0/log

com.sapportals.portal.prt.runtime.PortalRuntimeException: There is no portal component associated with the following context:
pcd:portal_content/com.summit.SES_BI/com.summit.iviews/Daily_Margin
at com.sap.portal.prt.component.PortalComponentContext.<init>(PortalComponentContext.java:93)
Here is what we have tried
* Confirmed the iviews exist in the PCD, by browsing to the content folders and right lick, preview on the iview.
* Our PRD and DEV systems work correctly and are on same versions of EP Runtime and java. 7.3.1.7.0.201..
* Occurs with all Businessobjects iviews from the QA portal and all doc types, webis, dashboards. Tried creating new iview.
* Reapplied the com.sap.businessobjects.iviews.templates.epa to the Portal from t he BI 4.1 SP3 distribution
* Deleted and recreated the BI portal system connector using the SAP BOBJ system template set path to http://bi-qas:8080/BOE
* Set the embed key value in the BI system connector property and in the custom global.properties file, restarted tomcat and SIA services
* Set permissions for everyone end user on the content folders and the BI system connector
* Confirmed Single sign on configured correctly between BI and Portal
* Confirmed that the QA BI server is configured correctly by directing the working DEV Portal to the QA BI server.
* Performed actions in note 1709737
We are certainly stuck and the defaultTrace file is not very informative. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated

This is resolve with note 1615838 - SAP Netweaver Enterprise Portal 7.3 iView creation with BI 4.0 results in exceptions.
The note includes a file portalapp.xml that need to be inserted into com.sap.businessobjects.iviews.par that is included in the BI server distribution.
Then deploy the ear file.....
Odd thing is that the note mentions 4.0 and we are on 4.1 SP3...

KM document iview with HTML content not showing pictures

Hello Experts,
I am currently working on integrating a HTML page into the portal. As it is just a static page the decision was made to implement it via KM. Now when I create a "KM documents iView (w/o filter)" and point the path to the HTML file in the KM it is displaying the file, but not the images, which are stored in a folder structure below.
But when previewing the HTML file directly it shows up just fine.
Can anyone advise?

Hi,
How you checked directly means? Are you checking from desktop or from the KM content folder.
if it is displaying properly in the KM content then automatically it should display properly in the KM document iview.
In the html file, please use only the relative path of the images that are stored in the KM content.
say starting from /irj.........

We have changed some default properteis (ex: Authentication Scheme ) values of KM Document iView.
After upgrading the Portal to further version all changed properties values set to default again.
How can we avoid the overriding the values with defaul values?

Folow the steps

in the step 4 of this page select: iView template --> KM Document iView
B. Result...You have created an iView in the folder from which you launched the iView wizard.
The initial properties and property values defined in the new iView are a result of selections you made in the wizard and properties inherited from its source.
C. IMPORTANT By default, all new iViews are defined as non-template objects. To define an iView as a template, open it in the Property Editor, and change the value of the Object is a Template property to Yes.
Now you have a template you can reuse... you can set all the properties you like in this template.
Now you need to create an iView based on this template.
D. do the same as in A. but @ step 4 select: iView template --> Your custom KM Document iView template.
E. Finilize it... do NOT set the property Object is a Template property to Yes for this iview.
F. Open this iView and set the property: Path to document tothe required location..
example: /documents/myfolder/myfile.html

I am having problems saving documents back to SharePoint when any of the document properties (metadata columns) are set to be "managed metadata". The check-in/save fails with error:

1. Which Adobe product are you using Acrobat or Adobe reader- what is the complete version?
2. How are you opening and saving the PDF, the exact workflow?
Are you doing it from within Adobe Reader/Acrobat application or opening it from browser, doing changes and saving it using browser itself.
3. Can you try to save a PDF to library with Custom template and managed metadata columns using browser directly.
4. Please verify that columns name do not contain spaces or some other special characters.

Showing invisible parts of the document when print is cancelled

The recommended way to hide content of a form designed in LifeCycle Designer 7.0 is to make the non-printable elements invisible in the prePrint event and to show them again in the postPrint event.
When the print is initiated, the respective objects become invisible and they are shown again after the print is executed with OK. However, when the print is cancelled by pressing Cancel, no postPrint event occurs and the objects remain invisible.
We have not found a workaround for this problem which appears to be a major functional issue which makes the advertised way of hiding content for printing not viable. That makes the product unusable for our purposes.
We have also tried to create a layered PDF with InDesign and adding control elements to this document. The plan was to mark some of the layers as non-printable in Acrobat. However, after we added the control elements, saved the file and opened it in Acrobat, all the layers were lost.
Is there a way to workaround this problem?

KM document iview transport & the document transport in KM.

We are EP 7.0 SP 18.
I have created a KM document iview in dev system and set the Path to document porperty of the document iview to guid of a document in KM.
Transported both the iview and KM content to QA system, epa and kmc files.
The iview fails to load. After, intial debugging. I found that the GUID is changed for the KM document after transport. Is it normal? In that case how are the KM document iviews going to work.
PLease, let me know the fix.

See i m telling you the exact phase of transport how you can do but some part is missing from your end...
System Admin->Transport->Export-> Portal COntent>Click on respective folder>Make the transport package>
When the package is made --> than again Add on folder level and Add All objects to transport package or you can define single -2 AFter that
Mandatory :
In Right Property Editor - Resolve Refrence is "Yes" mode
second Transport mode is in "data_and _acl"
Select all added item (ivews package) and click on export->Start Export>Download the file. Same as when you uploaded your fle in another server in Importing the file.
This will helpful to you and know which part you are missing.

Making a password show what parts of the document you see

I have a random request from a client that I am not sure is even possible.
They want their document to be used by two people, one of them will only be able to see say 4 pages of it while the other will be able to see it all including what the person before had entered.
I think you can get around the text part quite easily but to have it show different parts of the form via a password is very hard for me to do (even if it is possible at all)
Can anyone lend me a hand in this?

It sure is possible. I have been doing it for quite some time now and this would be a perfect situation for the Action Builder if coding in FormCalc is not your thing, but I can give you both.. I will use a sample form for the demo so if the lingo doesn't match up to your form, let me know or if you need an example. If anyone has anything simpler or I missed something, let me know. PM me if you want a sample form.
Create a new PDF and add in a second blank page and set that page to hidden in the Object field. Place a text field on page 1. Go to the Action Builder (in Windows go to the toolbar at the top, then "Tools" then select "Action Builder". The Action Builder is a great tool to add some extra functions into your PDFs with the preset actions. From the Action Tool box select the "Add New Item" from the top left of the box, right next to the trash can icon. This will create a new Action. There are 2 things for the Action: a condition and then a result. In the Condition section click the "object" link and then select the text field you put on page 1. Once you select the text field, the Condition box will change to "when text field TextField1...." and there will be 2 drop down boxes. With the condition set as "Is" put your password in the blank field. Then in the Result section select the drop down box and go to "Show/Hide an Object"and then select Page 2. What this will do is when TextField1 is equal to your password, page 2 will be visible. You can do this with not only a page, but specific elements within the PDF. So additional Textfields, pages, static text or other elements. One thing to keep in mind is what I like to call "foward/backwards logic" in that a user can enter the password to show the data, then remove it to hide whatever. Just go back through the Action Builder in reverse order that you did, where when TextField1 IS NOT the password, set the elements to hidden.
If you can do this via Formcalc, the setup would be similar, but instead of using the Action Builder you could do something like, create a numericField that has a number based password. On that field, go to your Script Editor, select "Change: from the show section, change the Language to FormCalc and then enter:

The bolded 1 is the password. The second and third lines cover what you want hidden or visible. So change whatever you want the password to, change the hidden and visible sections and then give it a try. You could even set this on a docReady show option as well to check that field when the form is opened if perhaps the first person saved the PDF with the hidden sections open. That way they do not need to enter the password every single time. Of course before they send it they should remove the password. Just be ready that whenever the user opens the form, even if they do not change anything, they will be prompted to save.

Dynamically changing the size of KM document IView.

At present the framework page has 3 KM document Iview. All iviews are calling HTML files. Now if the content in HTML file increases, I get an scroll bar for that Iview. Also based on the resolution of the screen I get the scrollbar. e.g I have fixed the height of the iview to say X for a resolution 1024 * 768 where in no scroll bar appears, now if I choose 1280 * 1024 resolution, iview appears with both horizontal and vertical scroll bar.
I tried to change the height type as automatic and the minimum height in pixels as 0 and maximum as 1000, then the iview it self disappears i.e it is taking the minimum height.
Now in my scenario based on the requirement the HTML content will change but instead of automatically adjusting display height of the Iview, it is taking hte minimum height mentioned.
How can I display the IView without scroll bar appearing if the content of the HTML is changing or the screen resolution is changing.

Hi Namit,
The KM doc iview is just like a container for storing and The horizantal scroll bar apperas as and when the content gets bigger than the container.
One option would be to write a small iview with an imbedded iframe pointing to the KM doc, where the width, height comes from profile attributes. This would remove the option of horizontal bar. Coming to height , Set the height type of the iView to Automatic OR if that doesn't work because of domain issues then set it to fixed and in addition set the iview height to the height of the image + 10~20 px more..

How can I use KM document iView in a room TEMPLATE?

I want to use a KM document iView in a room template. The target document for this iView will contain some standard html content for every room built from this room template. This file's content and the folder structure for the room template will come from a room extension. The iView should be able to display the HTML in the target document, which will always have the same name (roomHome.html). How can I configure my room template so that each instance of rooms built from this template will be able to navigate to its own unique instance of roomHome.html?

It's not possible to tag text with multiple languages in Pages 5. Go back to Pages 4, which should still be in you iWork folder.
For the whole doc in Pages 5, use Edit > Spellling and Grammar > Show Spelling and Grammar.

KM document iViews no longer work after upgrade to SP18

We just upgraded to EP 7.0 SP18 from 7.0 SP14. After the upgrade, our KM Document iViews no longer show the content within a page. They look corrent when you preview the iView.
Before you ask, we have already installed [SAP Note 1319278|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/oss_notes/sdn_oss_ep_pi/~form/handler], by loading the 2 attached PAR files (com.sap.portal.epcf.loader.par and com.sap.portal.navigation.contentarea.par). This did not change anything. Does anyone know if there are additional steps that need to be taken with installing this note? The note mentions SAP NetWeaver 7.00 SP18 Patch 3, but we can not find that in download area. Or it there another issue?
