Shrarepoint 2013 + reporting services + subscription

Hi,
I have a SharePoint server with reporting services
installed in integrated mode.
I set up a subscription for a report (* .rdlx) but
no document is created on a shared folder (.. or in a library)
I followed the procedure for configuring SSRS subscription service on
sharepoint server (t sql script for configuration, sql agent started
etc...)
A job is created in SQL Agent Jobs, I can open and run it (result is "Success", but
here too, nothing happens
All my connections (SharePoint, subscriptions etc. ..) use the same login
administrator

Does the report run okay normally with the same parameters? When I've had problems in the past with subscriptions, it's usually turned out that the report wasn't running correctly for some reason.

We have a need to run Reporting Services Subscription that is set in one of the SPWebs
The current developer went through SQL to get the Subscription object and run it whenever a user clicks a button to do that.
Is there a programmatic way using the object model to enumerate the Reporting Services Subscriptions in a web and run the one we want?
I would like to use as much of the current context so we do not have to configure the application for each environment we go through.

According to your description, you might want to handle the SQL Server Reporting Services Subscription using SharePoint Object Model.
In SharePoint Object Model, there seems no straight way can meet your requirement. You might need to interact with the Report Server to access the subscription properties
directly.

Sharepoint 2013 Reporting Services & OLAP Cubes for Data Modeling.

I've been using PowerPivot & PowerView in Excel 2013 Pro for some time now so am now eager to get set up with Sharepoint 2013 Reporting Services.
Before set up Reporting Services I have just one question to resolve.
What are the benefits/differences of using a normal flat table set up, compared to an OLAP cube?
Should I base my Data Model on an OLAP Cube or just Connect to tables in my SQL 2012 database?
I realize that OLAP Cubes aggregate data making it faster to return results, but am unclear if this is needed with Data Modeling for Sharepoint 2013.

So yes, PV is an in-memory cube. When data is loaded from the data source, it's cached in memory, and stored (compressed) in the Excel file. (also, same concept for SSAS Tabular mode... loads from source, cached in mem, but also stored (compressed) in data
files, in the event that the server reboots, or something similar).
As far as performance, tabular uses memory, but has a shorter load process (no ETL, no cube processing)... OLAP/MDX uses less memory, by requiring ETL and cube processing... technically tabular uses column compression, so the memory consumption will be based
on the type of data (numeric data is GREAT, text not as much)... but the decision to use OLAP (MDX)/TAB (DAX) is just dependent on the type of load and your needs... both platforms CAN do realtime queries (ROLAP in multidimensional, or DirectQuery for tabular),
or can use their processed/in-memory cache (MOLAP in multidimensional, xVelocity for tabular) to process queries.
if you have a cube, there's no need to reinvent the wheel (especially since there's no way to convert/import the BIDS/SSDT project from MDX to DAX). If you have SSAS 2012 SP1 CU4 or later, you can connect PV (from Excel OR from within SP) directly to the
MDX cube.
Generally, the benefit of PP is for the power users who can build models quickly and easily (without needing to talk to the BI dept)... SharePoint lets those people share the reports with a team... if it's worthy of including in an enterprise warehouse,
it gets handed off to the BI folks who vet the process and calculations... but by that time, the business has received value from the self-service (Excel) and team (SharePoint) analytics... and the BI team has less effort since the PP model includes data sources
and calculations - aside from verifying the sources and calculations, BI can just port the effort into the existing enterprise ETL / warehouse / cubes / reports... shorter dev cycle.

SharePoint 2013 Reporting Services Error activating ReportingWebService.svc

I get below error when i tried accessing System Settings after creating Reporting Services Service Application in SharePoint 2013, looked in to many blogs but didn't find any fix

What size did you use for the memory? Please make sure the server has enough memory to run SharePoint and all services.
In addition, please open
http://localhost:xxxxx/SecurityTokenServiceApplication/securitytoken.svc to check if there is something about this issue.

SQL Server Reporting Services Subscriptions - Failure sending mail

Hello All,
I am having a problem with using subscriptions to send my reporting services report by email.
Getting the following error:
Failure sending mail: The message could not be sent to the SMTP server. The transport error code was 0x800ccc6d. The server response was 552 Error: message too large
While browsing for other reports in the report manager(reports created by others staffs), i could find that these reports were sent by email successfully.
So not understanding why mine has a problem. logically it could be that the report is too big?
Anybody has a solution or suggestion?

For first question, we can check the item "IncludeLink" to embed the link in the mail. Or, embed the link the manually by putting a link in the "Comment" field. The URL should be a standard URL Access:
http://<reportserver>/reprotserver?/reportpath&rc:format=<format>
For the second question, you are right. We can follow these setps to work around the issue:
1.Create a file shared subscription, save the export to a shared folder.
2.Create a E-Mail delivery subscription, embed the file's path in the mail. We can set the file's path in "Comment" field of the E-Mail delivery. The path should be someone like this:
\\<sharedfolder>\<export report>
In this case, the exported report's name cannot be dynamic.

Sharepoint 2013 Reporting services not fetching data via linked server

We have a functional SharePoint 2013 farm in production with WFE (Server 1 , windows server 2012) and WFE ( Server 2 , windows server 2012) and SharePoint databases including report server databases on (Server 3, which SQL Server 2012 on windows
server 2012)
Kerberos Authentication is enabled and Windows Authentication happens. Claims to Windows Service seems to work correctly too. No double hop issue. The SharePoint Reporting Services seem to be configured correctly and Reports get generated as expected
in the following cases.
1. If data is being pulled from Server A (SQL Server 2008 R2 Server on Windows Server 2008), Report gets generated no issues.
2. If data is being pulled from Server B (SQL Server 2008 R2 Server on Windows Server 2008), Report gets generated no issues.
The problem:-
We have a view on Server A, which is fetching data from Server B. This report does not get generated. Gives an NT/Authority logon failure. Server B is created as a linked Server on Server A. The setting to run under users security context is checked.
If I execute Query Builder from Report Builder 3.0, the query on the view gets the data and data is displayed in the report for next 10-15 min but after that the connections gets lost or if the user logs out and logs back in, the connection is lost
again.
Has some one experienced a issue like this? Can a report not work on a view getting data from linked server? Or I have missed some thing really important.
Any help is highly appreciated?

Upgrade SharePoint 2007 SSRS integrated mode to SharePoint 2013 Reporting Service (SSRS-2014)

We are upgrading a SP-2007 site with SSRS integrated reports to SP-2013 and SSRS-2014. As there are many changes done in SP-2013, I would like to know if any of the existing SP-2007 reporting service database need to upgraded to SP-2013 or just upgrading
the SP-2007 content database to SP-2013 and creating a new Reporting Service application will be working fine?

You'll want to do a few things:
Export the encryption key from the SSRS Configuration application in SharePoint 2007.
Migrate the content database from SharePoint 2007 SP2+ to SharePoint 2010, to finally SharePoint 2013.
Install SSRS 2012 SP1+ on SharePoint 2013.
Migrate the SSRS databases to the SharePoint 2013 SQL Server.
Create a new SSRS Service Application in SharePoint 2013 using the same named databases on the new SQL Server.
Import the encryption key to the SSRS SA.

Change the Owner of SQL Reporting Services Subscription

So, I am having this odd issue after our Sysadmin changed my user name from what it used to be to something new.
Now, subscriptions for reports that I had created for users are not working anymore. And it gives me following error,
Failure sending mail: The user or group name 'DOMAIN\MyUser' is not recognized.Mail will not be resent.
A quick Google, landed me on
this old tip from MSDN about changing owner of report. According to that tip all I have to do is to update all entries in "subscriptions" table from older user to new user id, but for that new user should exist in "users"
table but in my case it didn't exist. So as suggested in very bottom of that same tip, I created (and deleted) bunch of items using Report Server Manager. But it didn't create my new user.
Then, I removed old subscription and created new subscription. But it still shows my old username as owner of that subscription.
So my question is, how do I change Owner of Subscription ?

If i grab the first 4 lines of that script then write the subscriptions variable to screen i can see all my subscriptions in our system.
As mentioned the script is meant to get you started. It could be failing on the authentication. So depending on how your system is configured you might need to do something different in how you connect. You'll probably have to do a little
research to get everything to match up with your environment and configuration.
I am not sure if it has something to do or not ... but I am using SQL Server 2008 SP3. And so if I use code like below,
$ssrsProxy = New-WebServiceProxy -Uri "http://<report server>/reportserver/reportservice2005.asmx" -UseDefaultCredential
$ssrsProxy | Get-Member
Then I can see that ListSubscriptions has following definition, and it shows that it is actually expecting 2 arguments.
ListSubscriptions Method Microsoft.PowerShell.Commands.NewWebserviceProxy.AutogeneratedTypes.reportservice2005_asmx.Subscription[] ListSubscriptions(string Report, string Owner)
May be it is because I am using SQL Server 2008 ... not sure.

SharePoint 2013 Reporting Services

I have setup SSRS properly on SharePoint 2013 server. Most of the reports are working fine. I have one report which is not working. I have opened the report in report builder and it has a data source define as

SPASMXService.asmx file is present on SP 2010 server however it is not on SP 2013 under layouts. I think the report not working because SPASMXService.asmx is missing on SP 2013.
How can I migrate SPASMXService.asmx to SP 2013. I did simple copy of folder from SP 2010 to SP 2013 under both 14 and 15 hives but it did fix the problem.

Migrating Reporting Services to new Server - Subscriptions are not transfering

Hello,
I have an instance of SQL Server 2008R2 running on Windows Server 2008. It is setup to be a reporting server. There are many subscriptions that are scheduled and run on this server. We are wanting to move to Windows Server 2012 and SQL Server
2012. So, we have built out a new VM and I have exported from the current server the ReportServer and ReportServerTempDB and have imported them to the new server. I have resolved the one Orphaned user that happened and went to look for the subscriptions
so that I could disable them so they wouldn't run. I could not find any.
select * from msdb.dbo.sysjobs where enabled = 1 and category_id = 100.
no rows...
I had read from other posts to let it sit for a few days and they will appear. I have waited 2 weeks.
So, what am I missing? I would prefer to do a clean install and migrate the data over rather than upgrading the OS and SQL.

Per my undersranding that you can't find any informamation related to the subscription in the sydjobs table after migration, right?
You issue can be caused by many factors.Please check details information below:
Please check if you can see all the subscription in the report manager and can create new subscriptions. The ReportServer database used by SSRS to store the subscriptions maintains a record of the subscription owner (as well as audit fields) which track
the user accounts that have created/modified the subscriptions.
If you can't see subscription on the report manager and can create new subscriptions, the issue can be caused by "My subscriptions" had been created on the original non-domain server(Local User account). Therefore, once the instance was migrated
to a new server on the domain, said Local User was no longer available. Every user with access to the ReportServer database has an entry created in the Users table and a unique GUID generated.
To work around the issue, you can do a SQL Update query to changed the OwnerID and ModifiedByID fields on the Subscriptions table to relate to the GUID of the equivalent user on the domain.Tip:

If you can see all the subsription on the report manager but can't find any job, please try to edit and update the subscription to see if it will recreate the job again and please also try to provide more details information in the log file to see if you
got some error message, the path like:

Do any one have a link to a list of things to consider when removing from AD domain a SQL Server 2008 which includes Reporting Services, Analysis Services and Integration Services?
I am taking from an Active Directory domain several servers with SQL 2008 and Reporting Services, Analysis Services and Integration Services. The server will stay on its own without association to any domain, the server will keep its IP address and
the server will not change names.
I have done some research and I got the basic steps including, removing the user accounts from the domain, changing the services accounts, changing jobs and databases from being owned by users from the domain. But...
Are there other things in Reporting Services, Analysis Services and Integration Services internal databases that have an association with the domain AND that will fail after no longer being in the domain?

Do any one have a link to a list of things to consider when removing from AD domain a SQL Server 2008 which includes Reporting Services, Analysis Services and Integration Services?
I am taking from an Active Directory domain several servers with SQL 2008 and Reporting Services, Analysis Services and Integration Services. The server will stay on its own without association to any domain, the server will keep its IP address and
the server will not change names.
I have done some research and I got the basic steps including, removing the user accounts from the domain, changing the services accounts, changing jobs and databases from being owned by users from the domain. But...
Are there other things in Reporting Services, Analysis Services and Integration Services internal databases that have an association with the domain AND that will fail after no longer being in the domain?

Reporting Services/Sharepoint 2013 dynamic Subscriptions.

I am looking for a better solution to this problem. What I have is about 200 reports and growing that are emailed on some schedule (most once a day as soon as possible).
This would mean about 200 sql jobs on the RS box, because each subscription create a sql job.
I am working on a data driven subscription that would create a schedule to run after the DW has finished processing.
I am noticing I am creating a lot of parameters. I am also noticing that I will be creating some type of log table.
Reason is that I need to exec the jobs to run every say 5 min.
These jobs are looking at the DW log table to show its done and another log table to tell if they have ran or not for the day.
Thus the actual report will only email one time a day.
(not sure if someone has a better solution for this).   The solution at this point is create 1 new table to hold parameters that I will use for the subscriptions (for section to define a query to Retrieve Subscriber
data).   The I will need a log table that I would populate once the report is actually sent.
Thus the real problem I have is that with 200 plus reports all trying to run at the same time.
In addition to AS trying to process and users all trying to run stuff.
To help balance this load I would rather have 1 or 2 jobs running on say the reporting services box or even the EDW box that just generates reports.
This way it runs the reports in a more serial manor.
I want to get this report from reporting services still.
What I am really looking for is how to dynamically exec all the pieces needed.
In other words build a table to hold all 200 reports and the metadata needed from them like format, to, cc, ect…
Then just create one job on RS that will exec code to loop through each report one at a time and create them.
I can have n number of job by just creating a grouping as well.

The reports run 1x a day so taking the time to cashe them in SSAS or SQL (most come from sql) and then run them again in SSRS has just added load with no value.   Why hammer anything.
I have been digging more but still looking. What I have found is that a job just loads a records into a table called AddEvent. Something that picks up a record from that and runs it. From what I can tell it uses the @eventdata to get the
information out of the Subscriptions and Catalog table.
Not sure if I am on the right path but still thinking I need to take the 200 plus reports and load them into a table. This would be all parameters and all subscription info. Then have maybe just a couple jobs. Example one job runs 175 reports
and other runs 25. I can group them how I like or add more jobs as I need to. Including creating an order for them. This way one job will run serial. Thus allowing me to control the load on the SQL box and SSAS box. Instead of
having 200 queries all slamming sql server and/or SSAS at the same time.

Reporting Services in both SharePoint 2013 connected and native mode?

Is it possible to configure Reporting Services (SQL Server 2014) to support both SharePoint 2013 connected mode and local Report Server in native mode on the same server using multiple instances of RS? The reason for this setup is to avoid having to purchase
SharePoint Enterprise CALs for other users than analysts and still be able to publish standard reports to all employees.
Management and analysts -> Custom reports published through SharePoint 2013 Enterprise (SP2013 ECALs and SQL Server 2014 core license). Data alerts and Power View enabled if possible.
All employees -> Standard reports published through Native Mode Report Server (SQL Server 2014 core license). Possible subscriptions.
I find the official documentation a bit lacking in this area but can't find anything stating against the above. It would be greatly appreciated if someone could confirm before planning the installs.
What I'm aiming for is somewhat similar to the "2 Tier Topology" described at: Example

With the difference that there is a separate SQL Server 2014 server used both by SharePoint and as a standalone BI-server.

Topologies for SQL Server BI Features in SharePoint - Actually gives a good overview in the section "PowerPivot for SharePoint
2013 and Reporting Services Three Server Deployment". Just remove PowerPivot Service from Server 1 and change the Analysis Services in Server 2 to a regular native multidimensional mode. Server 2 would also be used for native Reporting Services.

As per my understanding, you want to install two SQL Server instances on the same server, and configure one of the Reporting Services to SharePoint integrated mode, another to native mode.
According to my knowledge, multiple instances of Reporting Services on the same computer, where one instance runs in SharePoint integrated mode and the other instance runs in native mode is supported. But we must run all report server instances at the same
level. For example, if we are using SQL Server 2014, all report server instances must be SQL Server 2014.
Besides, Analysis Services and Reporting Services can be installed as standalone servers, in scale-out configurations, or as shared service applications in a SharePoint farm. Installing the services in a farm enables BI features that are only available in
SharePoint, including PowerPivot for SharePoint and Power View.

Problem with SQL Server Reporting Services 2012 SP1 (SSRS) and SharePoint 2013 in a Multi-tenanted environment

Hi All,
I'm working on what appears to be a permissions issue with SSRS in a multi-tenented SharePoint 2013 environment.
As part of my troubleshooting I've ignored the multitenented web application for the time being and stood up a dedicated web application with it's own host header called reporting.<domain>.local. I've created a site collection and added a Doc Library
called Reporting.. And then the content types, made sure the features are up and everything tests ok. I mention this because it's not that I can't get this working.. I can't get this working in a Web Application configured for multi-tenancy running Host Named
Site Collections.
When I try redoing the above on a Tenant site I get the following:

The problem here is that my account is a sysadmin in SQL, a local admin on all servers, a domain admin in AD and finally a Farm Admin in SharePoint. Access denied on my account is crazy. So it's unlikely to be perms in the traditional sence, more likely a denial
by implication (as though I have not been granted access to something)
When filtering the ULS Logs for that correlation ID I see the following log entries:

We aren't using feature packs at the moment. As far as I understand it all features are available to all subscriptions.
Has anyone seen this issue? Can anyone point in the correct direction? There must be a config that's specific to SSRS and Multi-tenancy that I've overlooked but I genuinely can't get to the bottom of this.

ISSUE Sharepoint 2013 databases for reporting services on the second server SQL 2012

Hello,
I have server A: Operating system windows 2012 standard, SQL server 2012 standard
instance: Sharepoint contains data for sharepint
instance: Reporting should be contain databases for reporting
Server B:
Windows server 2012 standard contains installation Sharepoint 2013
Sharepoint works (without reporting services), it is OK - databases are located on server A:
My issue is:
When I have installed reporting services on server B, I have already installed SQL server 2012 on server B, it works.
I am able to create report in report builder adn place it in to sharepoint.
But I would like to use only one full SQL machine on server A:
When I reconfigure repoting settings on server A in central administration - manage service aplications,
On the SQL server A in instance reporting , there is automatically created databases. It is no problem.
But the first difference is, when I want to manage service aplication for reporting in
Provision Subscriptions and Alerts, there is information
SQL Server Agent state cannot be determined
When I want to create report in report builder, I have issue:
server A-7380mw016\reporting it means server A with full SQL server:
The Test of connection was successful
Then I have clicked test connection
I have recieved this screen with fail: Logon faild for user NT Authority\anonymous logon
My account belongs to SQL admin on server A (A-7380mw016\reporting) I do not know it is not possible to create report, when it is possible to test connection in the first step and in the second step, there is problem...
Please, can somebody help me?

Hi,
Since you are getting an Anonymous Logon error, it appears there may be a problem passing your credentials to the SQL Server Agent Service. This would indicate a Kerberos issue. See this thread for details:

Tips from the video:
We are connecting to Reporting services using Kerberos when using Reporting Services in SharePoint integrated mode
For the account using reporting services, we just need a dummy SPN. We go to Attribute editor tab in AD for RS account. And then we will be enabled with Delegation tab.
In Delegation tab. I we are using claims to windows token, we need to use "Trust this user for delegation to specified services only"
There you have 2 options: "Use Kerberos only": It means I only want to delegate in the situation where the service that is doing the delegation actually has the Kerberos ticket to start with
"Use any authentication protocol" When we need protocol transition (like from NTLM to claims for intra farm communication)
We need to delegate this to SQL server.
