Siebel Resource Adapter newbie question

The platform support document for the managed version of Siebel Resource Adapter in Siebel version 7.8 states only support for WebSphere Application Server 5.1 with JDK 1.4. Would the same resource adapter also work fine if migrated to WebSphere Application Server 6.1 with JDK 1.5 or would one need to use the adapter for Siebel version 8.0? What about support for 64 bit RedHat Enterprise Linux 4.0? Is this configuration supported? It would be great if somebody could throw some light on this.

If it it is not listed for 7.8 it is not supported. Meaning if you get an error Oracle/Siebel will ask you to reproduce the problem on a supported platform. e.g. you are on your own if you install on a not supported platform. I doesn't mean it will not work.

Resource Adapter Design

I am fairly new to IdM and have had little training on it. I need assistance with a Resource Adapter design question.
I need to create an adapter that will read a database table of application accounts and associated attributes, and then link those accounts to existing IdM users. I do not want IdM to provsion to the resource, and I do not want the adapter to create IdM users. I just want the accounts linked to the IdM users and then have access in a workflow to the associated account attributes. Does this accurately describe what I should be able to do with an ActiveSync DatabaseTable adapter, or will I need to create a custom scripted adapter?
Any suggestions or steps would be greatly appreciated.

Newbie: Where do you find the Resource Adapter XML in BPE

I am trying to follow the documentation for adding a "Delete After Action" to a resource. Step 6 mentions editing the XML for the resource adapter. I know how to run the BPE, but I cannot find what object to open in the repository. How do I perform this step?
6. Edit the XML for the NT resource and add information to the �delete after action� schema mapping. Here is an example of a complete schema mapping for this resource with the new additions. (You will be adding the views-related information.)

Did it on one of our project :
You should first implement a web service client with your favorite java web service library (Axis, Xfire, ...) without
any IDM api. This client will have the basic methods :
- create user
- update user
- delete user
- get user
- list all user ids
Once you have this you can create your IDM adapter class following the templates in REF,
e.g. ExampleTableResourceAdapter.
I would also suggest creating an IDM Junit test class to debug your adapter outside the app server.

Resource Adapter for Xellerate

How could I do to implement two different roles with the privileges?
The first role is able to provision a user on the first linux and the second role on the second linux.
In fact when I go to define a new role I am not able to select only one system (but a kind of group).

Being newbie to JCA and JMS, it took some time for me to understand the technical details of the application I'm working on and some more time to comprehend your previous reply in the context. Hence the delay in my reply :)
As I have indicated in my original post, we are currently using jenks JCA container as a message listener container + generic JMS resource adapter (com.sun.genericra.GenericJMSRA), which works perfectly with Tibco JMS.
But, as you have indicated in your last reply that the same will not work with weblogic as the application is deployed outside weblogic server (Tomcat server in this context) and tries to use non-supported "connectionConsumer on remote JVM".
Now, spring supports JCA based messaging endpoint abstraction which can be used to connect to any JEE server using appropriate (mostly provider specific) resource adapter.
The messages then get processed by the message listeners in the JEE server hosted listener container. So as per my understanding, the concept is very similar to how MDBs act as messaging endpoint. So, I believe, weblogic also provides such JCA resource adapter.
The resource adapter section of weblogic documentation explains (link below) how to develop one. But, I believe, there must be ready made ones as the requirement is quite generic.

Moreover, I appreciate your suggestion of using MDBs. But, that's quite significant change for the entire platform and is not feasible option given our business scenario.

Multiple EARs packaging the same resource adapter -- Weblogic Application S

I had a question regarding JNDI and deploying multiple applications (EAR's) which package the same resource adapter running on Webloigc Application Server 9.1. I have an EAR file, ear1, which contains a resource adapter with connection factory with JNDI name say 'xyz' specified in the weblogic-ra.xml file. I have another EAR file, ear2, which again packages the same resource adapter with the same connection factory with JNDI name 'xyz'. Upon activating the 2nd EAR file, I get an exception 'javax.naming.NoPermissionException: A Resource Adapter may only be accessed from within the same application from which it was deployed.', as seen below:

It seems like the 2nd EAR is trying to go across and lookup the connection factory from the 1st EAR. Does weblogic bind the RA's connection factory jndi name in the global jndi and is not specific to each EAR? Is there some flag or switch I can turn on to make the JNDI specific to each EAR?

Thanks for the reply... in my case this would be done by the active synch process so no GUI form is required. I will be getting a list of application ID for the user by LDAP AS. One i get it i will have to parse it and get the list of application user id. I am passing those ID;s to a workflow where I am forming the resource name as you mentioned
for example:
If i get user1#user2#user3 from AS i am separating them based on # using split and getting 3 different user id;s
now i am forming a string with the resource name and passing it to the sub process in which i am checking out the user object, setting the user attributes and checking in the new view.
user1#LDAP
user2#LDAP|1
user3#LDAP|2
Problem ; When i run this user1 is getting created in LDAP but user2 and user3 are not. There entry is getting created in IDM.
When I open the IDM object I get a yellow triangle (warning) and if I open the user object and hit save button IDM creates the user account on the LDAP.
any help for further solving this problem would be appreciated.

Connectivity from ejb to Resource Adapter at run time

          I am facing a problem regarding the look-up of the Resource Adapter from the Ejb.
          To explain :
          1.I have The <resource-ref> tag in ejb-jar.xml set at follows :

Unfortunately for JMS Sender CC it is not possible, but other way around is possible. I.e. you can dynamically choose the receving queue names by using ASMA "JMSReplyTo" in JMS Sender CC.

EJB to connect to EIS for SPI in Resource Adapter

          In the literature and the spec there is no mention of having the EIS be exposed
          as an EJB and the Resource Adapter have connections to the EJB via the SPI. What
          is everyones thought on this matter? There is tons of examples with JDBC and
          Socket Server stuff, but, little if any mention of having managed connections
          with an EJB.

SG200-08 Newbie Questions

I have recently purchased the SG200-08 Smart Switch, but I have a few "newbie questions" about it as I get started using it.
The on board firmware shows 1.0.1.0. Is that the latest firmware to the switch?
Do I need to enable IPv6 Auto Configuration and DCHPv6 in my switch settings to be ready for IPv6 as my ISP rolls it out down the road?
How do I go about changing the switch's username? I was able to easily change the password, but having issues getting the username to change.
Do I need to do anything about the LLDP-MED settings? What exactly is that?
How do I confugure the System Time Settings so the switch functions in my time zone (USA Central Time)?

My guess is that NAT is already on - you have one public IP address from your ISP. Your router will use NAT (network address translation) to allow multiple clients (and either dynamically assign them private IPs via dhcp or you set them statically) to connect to the internet using the one public IP. It also sounds like your RV042G is assigning both ipv6 and ipv4 addresses, and theres nothing wrong with that. Unless you have specific information re: ipv6 from your isp, however, I would suggest not worrying about it until you hear from them. Are your macs connected to the router via the SG200 switch? If so, it looks like its passing ipv6 just fine. UPnP is something completely different - thats with opening ports like you mentioned - its a way that your devices can communicate with the router to automatically enable the proper port forwarding for the device/application.
Regarding the username, create a new user account. I don't think you can edit the cisco user, but try deleting it after creating and testing a new user account..
I'm not familiar with the Polycom system, but I would leave the settings as default unless you are using true IP phones (rather than an ATA adapter). From a quick google of the polycom device, I don't think you will gain anything from LLDP/CDP as the handsets use regular cordless phone freqs. With my setup, we use cisco IP desk phones and cordless wifi phones, CDP makes life easy as the cisco access point, wifi phones, cisco switch, and cisco desk phones (connected via ethernet) see each other and know what they're dealing with automatically.
I don't see the SNTP setting for unicast / broadcast that you're looking at. For the switch to get the time from a sntp server, under administration -> time -> sntp settings, add a server, and then back on time-> system time, enable sntp server as the main clock source. What are you using as your sntp source? Do you have an internal sntp server? You don't need to enable dhcp on the sntp server.

Help Pls: how to assign a user form to a non active sync resource adapter

I need to implement a non active sync resource adapter, such as oracle database or RACF. When a user is assigned a resource by IdM, an account is created on that resource. I want to transform some attributes during the creation, such as pre-padding the accountId with a letter and zeros. My questions are:
1) I think attribute transformation should be accomplished by user form. is it correct? How do I assign the user form to the non active sync resource?
2) What workflow/userform should I change to accomplish that?

A cleaner option would be to
1. Create a custom form, which could be derived from the Tabbed User Form.
2. Create a delegated admin, with account administrator capabilities at the minimum, and required controlled organization, and assign the above form to this delegated admin -- this is on the same page.
3. Use this form to create IDs on the specific resource.
Now in this custom form you could have the logic on how to create the ID in the specific resource. In fact you could have different logic for different resource. Check the tech deployment guide for the exact syntax, but the field might be:
account[Res_Name].identity
Note that this setting would override the 'Identity Template' setting as defined in the RA configuration.
And BTW, it would really help if you readup the 'Forms' section in the guide.

How do you package and deploy a resource adapter with a c++ library?

I am using Weblogic 8.1 and am trying to deploy a resource adapter that has a platform dependent c++ library. This has to be done from a script so I am using weblogic.Deployer. I am failing with a â€œjava.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError:â€ I understand that the library is not in java.library.path. I donâ€™t want to have to stop weblogic, set the lib path, restart weblogic, and then deploy. How can I accomplish this?

With this additional information, what I'd do about the CMSG is to make
an array of uInt8 that is sixteen elements in size. You will be able to
transfer the bytes to and from t
he array by using indexing. Wire the
array to the function for the second parameter and set it to pass the
data by pointer. I have no idea what is supposed to be int he struct
when the function is passed, but if you cast between a matching cluster
and the array, you will need to swap the first bytes for the long
parameter. Same goes for reading the results back from the array after
the call.

I know BRM well but am clueless with Fusion.
I am trying to figure out what Fusion products to download and install and how I manipulate the Fusion side to manipulate BRM.
My BRM docs say:

The adapter is dependent on Java Archive (JAR) files to deploy properly. The following table lists the JAR files that the adapter requires from each application in your system.

Open the Oracle_home/j2ee/Instance/config/applications.xml configuration file for the J2EE instance.

Connecting the adapter to BRM in Oracle AS
You connect the adapter to the BRM software by creating connection pools and connection factories. As part of the adapter deployment, the application server creates oc4j-ra.xml from the packaged ra.xml. The ra.xml file is located in the Oracle_home/j2ee/Instance/connectors/AdapterDeploymentName/AdapterDeploymentName/META-INF directory. For example, Oracle_home/j2ee/home/connectors/BRMAdapter/BRMAdapter/META-INF/ra.xml.
Use the resource adapter home page from the Oracle AS ASC page to create connection pools and connection factories.
Create your connection pool by following the performance and tuning guidelines in Configuring Connection Pooling in OC4J in Oracle Containers for J2EE Resource Adapter Administrator's Guide. See download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B31017_01/web.1013/b28956/conncont.htm.
Make sure you set the pool’s Maximum Connections parameter (maxConnections XML entity) equal to or greater than the Oracle BPEL process manager’s dspMaxThreads parameter. I need Fusion help creating a demo of BRM JCA Resource Adapter.
I know BRM well but am clueless with Fusion.
I am trying to figure out what Fusion products to download and install and how I manipulate the Fusion side to manipulate BRM.
My BRM docs say:

The adapter must be deployed on a J2EE 1.4-compliant application server that has implemented the JCA 1.5 specification. The adapter runs only in a managed environment. (Does this imply some particular Fusion package?)

Overview of the BRM JCA Resource Adapter configuration procedure
The procedure for setting up the BRM JCA Resource Adapter includes the following tasks:
Installing the adapter on your BRM system, if you have not already done so. See Installing the BRM JCA Resource Adapter.
Generating the schema files for the adapter. See Generating the schema files for your system. (links to some BRM commands np)

Deploying the BRM JCA Resource Adapter on an Oracle application server
The adapter is dependent on Java Archive (JAR) files to deploy properly. The following table lists the JAR files that the adapter requires from each application in your system.

If you are deploying the adapter in a standalone Oracle Containers for Java EE (OC4J) instance, make sure these JAR files are available to the class loader that is loading the adapter.
If you are deploying the adapter by using Oracle SOA Suite, these JAR files are available as part of the oracle.bpel.common code source. You import these libraries as follows:
Open the Oracle_home/j2ee/Instance/config/applications.xml configuration file for the J2EE instance.
Add the oracle.bpel.common entry (shown in bold below) to the imported-shared-libraries section of the file:

Save and close the file.
Restart the application server or the J2EE instance.
After you make the JAR files available, deploy the adapter on the Oracle application server by using either the Oracle Application Server (Oracle AS) Application Server Control (ASC) or the Oracle admintool.jar file. Copy the adapter archive file (BRM_home/apps/brm_integrations/jca_adapter/OracleBRMJCA15Adapter.rar) from the installation directory to a location that is accessible to the adapter deployment tool. You can then open and deploy the archive file on your application server.
After successful deployment, return the applications.xml file to its original settings and add the oracle.bpel.common codesource to the BRM Adapter oc4j-ra.xml file:
Open the Oracle_home/j2ee/Instance/config/applications.xml configuration file for the J2EE instance.
Remove the following oracle.bpel.common entry (shown in bold below):

Connecting the adapter to BRM in Oracle AS
You connect the adapter to the BRM software by creating connection pools and connection factories. As part of the adapter deployment, the application server creates oc4j-ra.xml from the packaged ra.xml. The ra.xml file is located in the Oracle_home/j2ee/Instance/connectors/AdapterDeploymentName/AdapterDeploymentName/META-INF directory. For example, Oracle_home/j2ee/home/connectors/BRMAdapter/BRMAdapter/META-INF/ra.xml.
Use the resource adapter home page from the Oracle AS ASC page to create connection pools and connection factories.
Create your connection pool by following the performance and tuning guidelines in Configuring Connection Pooling in OC4J in Oracle Containers for J2EE Resource Adapter Administrator's Guide. See download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B31017_01/web.1013/b28956/conncont.htm.
Make sure you set the pool’s Maximum Connections parameter (maxConnections XML entity) equal to or greater than the Oracle BPEL process manager’s dspMaxThreads parameter.
