Significance of Targe System

Dear All,
While saving any ABAP object In a Package  I created a new request.
While Crating the New Request, There is an option called 'TARGET SYSTEM'. Whats the significance of this ?
I Have one more query.
  If I wont give the target system name, The Request becomes local change request . Is it possible to transport the local change request to other servers? If I release any local change request, Its not comming in the buffer. Thats why I Am unable to transport to other servers.
I have changed one ABAP code Using Access Key. That object is saved in a local change request. If I give any Target system name for that object its giving a message 'Request Cannt be used' What could be the problem?.
Regards

The target system is the system to which the request will go to, next. For the dev system it will be the name of the QA system. Once the request is released from the DEV, it will appear in the import queue of the target (QA) system specified here.
It is not possible to migrate a local change request. You will either have to assign the object to a new transportable request (easiest way - delete the object from the local request and save it again in the editor/repository), or do a 'transport of copies', using which you can assign the local object to a transport, but the original system will still show as the DEV system.
Hope this helps.

  • Significance of ESB Systems and Groups

    Hi,
    Other than organizing things better what are the true functionalities of ESB Systems and Groups? Having services in seperate systems/groups enables me to deploy them on seperate ESB Instances? Are there any performance benefits by limiting number of services in a System/Group?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Rajesh

    ESB systems are the lowest level unit of scalability (just made that up). You can apply services in a group to different clusters/rt servers and define different async jms topics to route the message through. So anything in an ESB can be segmented to scale up as needed.

  • Unable to create PO in backend system for a text material in Shopping cart

    Hi All,
    When I am approving  a shopping cart with text material(ie without material/product/goods), I am getting PR instead of PO. Please explain the settings for getting PO.
    Regards
    SATYA

    Hi,
    SPRO--> SRM > SRM server> cross application basic settings --> Define objects in backend system (PR,RS,PO)
    Always purchase requision
       Or
    PO if item data complete,other wise PR.
    1. Enter the organizational unit and/or the category.
    2. Enter a source system.
    3. Choose the procurement type.
    Reservation if stock is available, otherwise external procurement
    The system creates a reservation if the material is subject to inventory management and sufficient stock quantity is available in the warehouse on the requested date.
    Always reservation for materials subject to inventory management
    The system creates a reservation if the material is subject to inventory management, irrespective of whether stock is available.
    Always external procurement
    The system does not create a reservation, but always procures the item externally. In this case, you specify the type of external procurement.
    The following options are significant if the system cannot create a reservation (for example, if there is no stock available or for a non-stock item) or the system must not create a reservation (choose Always external procurement).
    Purchase order if item data complete, otherwise purchase requisition
    The system always tries to create a purchase order. If the item data is incomplete (for example, the vendor or price is not known), the system creates a purchase requisition from the item.
    Always purchase requisition
    The system always creates a purchase requisition.
    Always local purchase order
    The system always creates a local purchase order.

  • Publishing through Portal - "Connection to backend system failed"

    We are having a problem publishing documents through our SAP Portalu2019s service u201CPublish Course Contentu201D under Course Administration.
    When we go to publish, we get a status u201CConnection to backend system failedu201D with the message u201CNo message availableu201D.
    We are running:
    Portal on NW 7.0 EhP1, Support Package 04.
    ABAP on ERP 6.0, EhP4, Support Package 18.
    Both the Portal and ABAP systems are running on Linux RHEL5, with an ORACLE 1.0.2.4 database.
    Portal and ABAP are on different servers.
    Not certain if this is significant but under System Configuration, if I open my ABAP back-end systemu2019s configuration and perform connection tests, the overall Connector test fails.
    We also have a sandbox system on which we did the configuration first. We have compared all of the values for the configuration we have done to ensure they are configured the same. On the sandbox, the connection test is successful and we can publish content without error.
    I have been trying to review the various trace files, increase trace levels, etc. both on the ABAP back-end system and on the Portal. I have been able to find anything that appears significant but this is probably due to my not knowing what to look for.
    Which specific trace files should be reviewed for the root cause of the issue? What are the exact steps the Publish process takes to accomplish its work? If we know the exact steps it takes (how it communicates, what modules it uses, what accounts) we might be able to determine the root cause.
    We are using a SAML login to our portal for authentication and have removed the Basic password login module from the Authentication Stack u201Cticketu201D. We have established trusted RFCu2019s between the ABAP and Java instances for the Publishing function. When authentication is configured, we try to use the highest form available in the configuration. We use Assertion tickets if available, it not, we use Logon Tickets, if not available, we would then select X.509 certificates and if that were not available, would select Username and password.
    Any ideas as to what we should be looking at would be greatly appreciated. I have searched both SDN and SAPNet for similar situations and not yet found something that corrects the problems.
    Thank-you in advance,
    Deb Nugent.

    Arun,
      Thank-you for your suggestions. The ABAP back-end system is up and I have verified the connection properties. I have had others verify as well. All appears correct.
      The default trace files, through NWA, show the messages:
    BackenConfig not correct. processId = 78775D8D1053B855;
     com.sap.hcm.ls.shared.config.backend.BackendConfigException: Destination Exception
    Can not get Destination com.sap.security.core.server.destinations.api.DestinationException: The properties for destination ZZ_LSOCP_JP3 of type RFC could not be located.
    I have checked all of the trace files both on the ABAP and Java sides and cannot determine the root cause. I have repeatedly tried things suggested by other threads in SDN and others (consultants) have tried as well. We cannot determine the root cause of the connection errors and now, cannot get the Publishing to work properly.
    The only system where the connector test works is our sandbox. Our dev and test systems all fail the connector test. We configured them all using the same documentation.
    Is there some way to increase trace levels to try and get more details? And what objects would need to have traces increased?
    Deb.

  • External Hard Drive, System won't boot

    I recently purchased a Western Digital 750 gb hard drive. I reformatted it to Mac Journaled and it is connected through firewire 400. It works great and all, but I've noticed that it has significantly slowed my system startup time when I press the power button (recently, it won't start at all). After I unplug the firewire cord and press the power button, it starts normally. I'd rather not have to unplug my hard drive every time I turn my computer off.
    Please Help.

    ok... i don't recall reading what kind of enclosure it wasin???
    I don't think you are going to get away from the problem of unplugging and plugging back in... I have to do the same thing with TWO of my drives - one is firewire and one is USB2.0...
    no one has been able to provide a solution for me and I know for a fact my drives are fine and the cables are new (and i have tried using others). i switch between my mac and pc's with the drive all the time and there has never been an issue with the drive... just the same problem you are seeing, have to unplug and plug back in.
    ciao

  • What is the overhead of Supplemental Logging?

    We would like to copy data from a 600 GB Oracle database (9i) to a separate database for reporting. We want to use Data Guard in Logical Standby mode. The source database is heavily used and we can't afford a significant increase in system load (e.g. I/O activity) on that system.
    To set up a Logical Standby, we need to put the JD Edwards database into Supplemental Logging mode. I am concerned that this will noticibly increase the load on the source server.
    Has anyone analyzed the additional overhead of Supplemental Logging?
    I have done some testing using Oracle 10.2 (Oracle XE on my computer) which indicates that when I turn on Supplemental Logging, the size of the archive logs grows by 40%. I have not yet tested this on our 9i database.
    Thank you in advance for your help!
    Best Regards,
    Mike
    =================================
    The code below demonstrates the symptoms mentioned above:
    RESULTS - size of archive logs generated:
    - With Supplemental Logging: 120 MB
    - Without: 80 MB
    =================================
    CREATE TABLE "EMP"
    (     "EMPLOYEE_ID" NUMBER(6,0),
         "FIRST_NAME" VARCHAR2(20),
         "LAST_NAME" VARCHAR2(25) NOT NULL ENABLE,
         "EMAIL" VARCHAR2(25) NOT NULL ENABLE,
         "PHONE_NUMBER" VARCHAR2(20),
         "HIRE_DATE" DATE NOT NULL ENABLE,
         "JOB_ID" VARCHAR2(10) NOT NULL ENABLE,
         "SALARY" NUMBER(8,2),
         "COMMISSION_PCT" NUMBER(2,2),
         "MANAGER_ID" NUMBER(6,0),
         "DEPARTMENT_ID" NUMBER(4,0)
    alter table emp add CONSTRAINT "EMP_EMP_ID_PK" PRIMARY KEY ("EMPLOYEE_ID")
    CREATE TABLE "STAT"
    (     "F1" NUMBER,
         "ID" VARCHAR2(10)
    The "employee" table is from Oracle XE samples
    The procedure below generates transactions to test archive log size.
    To run, put the database in archive log mode. Then pop an archive log by executing
    ALTER SYSTEM ARCHIVE LOG CURRENT;
    To flip between running with Supplemental Logging, use one of:
    ALTER DATABASE drop SUPPLEMENTAL LOG DATA (PRIMARY KEY, UNIQUE INDEX) COLUMNS;
    ALTER DATABASE ADD SUPPLEMENTAL LOG DATA (PRIMARY KEY, UNIQUE INDEX) COLUMNS;
    declare
    i number;
    begin
    i := 0;
    while i < 1000
    loop
    delete from emp;
    insert into emp select * from employees;
    update emp set COMMISSION_PCT = COMMISSION_PCT * .5;
    update stat set f1 = i where id = 'UPD';
    commit;
    if i mod 1000 = 0 then
    dbms_output.put_line(i);
    end if;
    i := i + 1;
    end loop;
    end;
    /***********************************************/

    Unless the bottleneck of your system is related in any way to the redo log files, I don't see any risk in generating supplemental logging. A good way to find out is to look at a Statspack report, and see which events are the top 5 time-wise.

  • DVD sound but no video

    When I try to watch a DVD Movie all I get is sound no picture.  I can read/write CD's. I have tried several movies I know work on DVD player but will not now work on my laptop.  I use Win Media Player to view movies and it was working just fine last weekend when I watched several movies.
    I did some tweakes and am wondering if they messed up my video.  I am enclosing the article that I used to tweak my computer.
    "Windows Vista Tweaks
    “Techniques for improving the Vista experience.”
    by Michael J. Ross
    Microsoft has had a fairly difficult time getting Windows XP users to spend the time and money upgrading to Windows Vista, and there are many reasons for this: First, Windows XP had proven itself to be the best version of Windows, upon its introduction, especially in terms of stability and device-driver inclusion. Happy XP users were quite right in asking, "Why change?" Second, upgrading to Vista requires time, which is always in short supply for busy people. Third, there is the risk of rendering unusable any number of applications and hardware devices that are working fine. Fourth, switching to Vista involves not only the expense of purchasing a new Windows license, but the cost of upgrading your PC to match the significant increase in system memory and other components, as required by Vista.
    Also, Windows Vista is quite similar to XP in some areas, and largely unchanged in others. Admittedly, User Access Control is a very noticeable difference, but in a negative sense, because it repeatedly asks for confirmation of common tasks—all of which becomes rather annoying (we will discuss a fix for that in a moment). Windows Vista has a new search field in the Start menu, but most people do not use it or even know that it is there. In Vista's Control Panel, the number of items has more than doubled, and they are now organized into 10 categories. But many people—especially power users who have learned to perform administrative tasks as quickly as possible—much prefer the Classic interface with all cascading menus enabled, and thus will never see those categories. Most of the menu bars were removed, which is maddening for all users who came to rely upon menus for performing tasks.
    Finally, even though the very latest version of Vista and its service packs are causing fewer headaches than the initial version, there are still endless complaints about Vista updates causing PCs to freeze up, device-driver incompatibility, memory overload while copying files, Web access problems, applications being impossible to uninstall, unpatched but known bugs, and programs running much slower. The firestorm of criticism was so intense that consumer advocacy groups in several countries strongly recommended that people not purchase Windows Vista. Consequently, so many organizations and individual computer users have opted to stick with Windows XP (or even Windows 2000!) and eschew Windows Vista entirely, that Microsoft has been under constant pressure to extend the availability of XP until the release of Windows 7.
    Given all of the user interface and performance problems seen with Windows Vista, you would think that Microsoft would have tweaked it as much as possible before releasing it to the public. But such was not the case. Fortunately, there are many known techniques for improving the Vista experience, and we will examine some of the better-regarded ones.
    Services and Disservices
    Windows Vista's User Access Control (UAC) is an ill-conceived attempt to reduce the chances of malware infection by popping up one dialog box after another, asking you to confirm a range of everyday operations that used to be performed automatically in Windows XP. While increased system security is always a laudable goal, this was clearly not the way to achieve it. It did not take long for this new "feature" to become the most common sore spot for Vista users. Fortunately, the UAC nag can be silenced with little difficulty: Click the Start button, choose Control Panel, and then choose User Accounts (or User Accounts and Family Safety, if you are not connected to a network domain). Select "Turn User Account Control on or off." If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, provide it. Uncheck Use User Account Control (UAC), and then click OK.
    There are other Windows Vista features, aside from UAC, that will largely do nothing more than slow down both you and your PC. They can be safely turned off manually. But you would have to do this every time you boot up your PC, because they start automatically when Windows Vista does. So it is best to completely disable them: Return to the Control Panel, choose Administrative Tools, then choose System Configuration, and then click the Services tab. Deselect the following services: Fax (unless you own and plan on using a fax modem), Offline Files (unless you plan on using Offline File Sync, which few people do), Tablet PC Input Service (unless you have a tablet PC), Terminal Services and Windows Search.
    Vista also has some unneeded features that are not listed as part of the automatic startup services. To turn them off, go to the Control Panel, select Program Features, and in the panel on the left choose "Turn Windows Features on or off." You can then disable the following items: Indexing Service, Remote Differential Compression, Tablet PC Optional Components, Windows DFS Replication Service, Windows Fax & Scan (unless you plan on using a modem for sending and receiving faxes, which few people still do), and Windows Meeting Space (unless you plan on using the Live Meeting Service). For those last two entries, if you are not sure at this time as to whether or not you intend to try them, it is best to disable them for now, because you can always reenable them later if needed, and you may forget to return to this part of the Control Panel to disable them.
    Resource Hogs
    As new and modified files are written to a hard drive, they may be broken up into pieces, with each piece located in a separate area on the hard drive. This fragmentation increases the amount of time it takes to read each file's contents, because the drive's head has to move a lot more to read those separate pieces. Defragmentation is the process of bringing all of those separated pieces together, and thus improves file-access speeds. Regardless of what operating system you are running, you should periodically defragment the hard drive. Do this anytime you are not using the computer, since it can be time-consuming. Unfortunately, Windows Vista does this continually, thus forcing you to endure the delays piecemeal. Click the Start button, and choose Computer. Right-click the C Drive, and choose Properties. Select the Tools Tab, then choose Defragment Now and uncheck Run on a Schedule. You should do this for all of your drives, if you have any other than the C drive.
    Do you frequently need to close your laptop temporarily, such as when using it when traveling? If so, then the hibernate feature of your operating system (Windows or any other) is a welcome method for avoiding the inconvenience and risk of shutting down all of your applications and then the operating system itself, only to have to reverse the whole process just to get back to where you were in your workflow. However, most people do not have a need for hibernation (at least for their computers; putting oneself into hibernation for a couple of years through the current economic crisis may be a tempting thought!). Windows Vista has its hibernation capabilities enabled by default, and they do consume a nontrivial amount of system resources. To turn them off, go to the Control Panel, choose Power Options, click Change Plan Settings, and then click Change Advanced Power Settings. In the Sleep section, go into the Hibernate After section, move the selector down to zero, and click the Apply button.
    There are many more ways to fine-tune your installation of Windows Vista, and they can be found by searching on the Web. No matter what changes you choose to make, be sure to first do a full backup of all of your important data (something you should be doing frequently anyway). If you are familiar with how to export a copy of the Windows Registry, do that as well.
    With these system tweaks and any others, you can improve Windows Vista to the point where it is quite usable—almost as good as XP!"
    Would any of these cause my video to stop working?  If not what can I do to resolve this problem.
    I read all the articles in here and found 1 similar to mine and noticed you suggested deleting upper/lower filters in regedit.  Do I need to do this?
    thanks for any help you can give me.   I won't be able to read/answer until next weekend.

  • Update Boot Camp 3.3 to 5.1 on Mac Pro 3,1 (2008)?

    I currently have Win 7 Ultimate 64bit running on my Mac Pro 2008.  Boot camp version is 3.3 although OS X is 10.9.3 Mavericks.  I recently installed a flashed AMD 7950 which works great in both OS X and Windows 7 although I seem to have lost the ability to automatically sleep in Win 7.  I'm using latest AMD drivers but that hasn't cured the scheduled sleep issue (I can make the Mac sleep manually without problem).  The only other changes have been the usual Windows updates.  At this point, I can't determine what's preventing my Win 7 install from sleeping so I'm contemplating upgrading the boot camp drivers from 3.3 to the latest to try and narrow down any potential conflicts.
    My concern however is Apple's lack of official support for the early 2008 Mac Pro's and Boot Camp 5.  Is there a specific difference at the hardware/driver level to preclude me from skipping BC 4 and upgrading straight to BC 5 drivers in my Mac Pro?  If I do run into driver conflicts, can I downgrade to BC 4 without screwing up my current Windows installation?
    Many thanks for your help.

    You may be able to use Boot Camp Support Software 5.1.5621 provided the hardware is not significantly different.

  • Deadline Branche in Correlation Process - Best Practice

    Hello,
    I have an integration process with a correlation - there is a asynchronous send step which activates a correlation and afterwards an asynchronous receive step that uses that correlation.
    Furthermore I have a deadline branch to cancel the process after 24 hours.
    My question now is:
    There could be (rare) cases where a message arrives later than 24 hours, so according to my understanding the received message will block the inbound queue as no active correlation can be found anymore. Is this correct? How can I avoid this situation, I guess a blocked queue would also block other messages that are sent to the integration process?
    What would be best practice to handle such a scenario? I could leave the process intance open for 1 month, however this might have a significant impact on system performance.....
    Thank you for your advice.

    There could be (rare) cases where a message arrives later than 24 hours, so according to my understanding the received
    essage will block the inbound queue as no active correlation can be found anymore
    No correlation found error will occur only when the BPM instance is running and the message tries to enter into the relevant receive step (not the first one)
    However when you say the process is cancelled you need not worry about the message going into the queue and blocking the BPM queue.
    Regards,
    Abhishek.

  • Safari shuts down when trying to login to a site...same prob in itunes

    I think it happened after the last security update...
    Anytime I log into a secure site safari just shuts down...no error message or shut-down message or anything. itunes does the same thing if I try to login to my account or if I try to burn a CD. I saw some people having similar problems with safari...anyone with the itunes problems? Any solutions or do we have to wait for another update from apple? Oh, firefox works.

    Found a solution that works:

    Security Update 2006-007 (#6): Login to secure sites fails (cont.) -- fixes; Problems launching Microsoft Office apps; more
    Login to secure sites fails (cont.) -- fixes We continue to report on problems logging into secure (https) Web sites in Safari and other WebKit-based applications after applying Security Update 2006-007. Since this update makes modifications to WebKit, it's logically implicated in the difficulties.
    Even more telling than the WebKit changes, however, is the resolution (in this security update) of a vulnerability where "certain revoked certificates may be erroneously honored." It appears Safari is -- instead of erroneously honoring bad certificates -- erroneously rejecting some certificates.
    There's one more change in Security Update 2006-007 that could be implicated in this problem: a fix for a vulnerability where it may be possible to create an X.509 certificate containing a public key that "could consume a significant amount of system resources during signature verification. An attacker may cause a system to process such a certificate, leading to a denial of service."
    In at least some cases, the issue appears to be tied to certificates issued by VeriSign. Safari is incorrectly interpreting some of these certificates as invalid -- with a mismatch in the certificate-listed host name and host name of the visited URL.
    As such, one potential fix involves deleting certificate entries using Keychain Access, as follows:
    1. Launch Keychain Access (located in Applications/Utilities)
    2. Click on "Certificates" in the left-hand pane
    3. Delete any entries from VeriSign, or any certificates with a red cross next to them
    4. Re-attempt access to the problematic secure site
    The most successful fix, however, involves deleting the file com.apple.security.revocation.plist from the following directory:
    * ~/Library/Preferences
    You can replicate this workaround to some extent without deleting any files by opening Keychain Access (as mentioned above) then navigating to its Preferences (under the Keychain Access menu), clicking on the "Certificates" tab and making sure that both "Online Certificate Status Protocol (OCSP)" and "Certificate Revocation List (CRL)" are turned off. However, some users have found that only deleting the aforementioned file works.
    Unfortunately, in some cases, it may be up to certificate providers to update their certification methods for compliance with Apple's new,

  • Class not registered

    HD-4310 Webcam software.
    When installing I get this error message:
    " Class not registered " (without speech marks)
    I followed a tip to use " sfc /VERIFYONLY " to scan for a permissions problem but my system comes up clean.
    Can anyone help?
    Much appreciated

    Thanks for the expansive reply. I must say, I disagree with your statement: “As I said, it was a problem with the HP Webcam installation, not Windows Explorer. It's a good job I didn't take your suggestion for a solution in the first link and act on it.” I am going to provide an elaborate explanation as to why I disagree with this statement.
    Firstly, I'm going to provide you with the most significant troubleshooting steps from the first link I provided (link is http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-desktop/explorerexe-class-not-registe...
    “Hello,
    I would suggest the following support steps....
    -Load into Safemode and verify if you are able to access your desktop
    -Create an alternate user account and verify if you are experiencing this issue.
    -System Restore your computer to a previosu date and time when it was functioning normally.
    -SFC /scannow
    -Perform a repair Installation of Windows. (Universal steps are listed below)
    Please proceed with performing a repair installation of the OS.  In case of a failure, please ensure that you back up your data to an external location prior to performing the repair.  Below are the steps to proceed with the repair process.”
    I will cut the quote at this point. Now, I have worked, researched, and experimented with software on Windows since 2000. Running the computer in Safe Mode is always a troubleshooting step. The part about accessing the desktop may not apply, however, running in Safe Mode is crucial and helpful. I cannot describe how vital it is in certain types of troubleshooting. Creating a new user account and attempting to perform the same mission can potentially repair all “Class not register” errors, not just specific errors. Of course, this will point to an issue on your primary account. The system file checker scan is always valid, because you never know what it will detect, which can be significant. A System Restore may or may not work, depending if the software did work at a certain point. Finally, a repair installation of Windows, while it is a monumental task, is a troubleshooting step.
    Secondly, I noticed the Operating System that is subjected on the thread is Windows Vista. I informed you that I would require you to inform me of your operating system, and model number, so I can assist you further. However, the funny factor about the more recent Windows operating systems is that troubleshooting is extremely similar on all operating systems. I provided the best thread I could, without knowledge of your operating system, since the troubleshooting provided applied to Windows 7 as well.
    Thirdly, I'm going to quote your statement, then provide my response:
    “The better advice would have been to let me know how to find the Problems and Solutions in the Action Centre and get some more information before a complete repair of my entire OS. I can't remember how I found out now, but I couldn't find them there and took a tip to type the name "problem reports" into the search bar of the start menu and click on "view all problem reports”.”
    While this troubleshooting is valid, my style of troubleshooting enables this troubleshooting step to only be performed on special occasions. This issue was not one where I would've elected to perform this task. My troubleshooting I provided would've narrowed down the issue, ultimately, if it wasn't resolved. Even if I had to troubleshoot this issue from scratch, I would not perform this task.
    I worked on behalf of HP.
