Simple portal application

Hi All,
Im trying to migrate a simple webapp into portal enabled webapp. I wonder what are the jar files I need to copy into WEB-INF/lib directory?
I just want portal-light framework. No other heavy portal functionality required.
I copied these portal light libraries into my webapp's lib directory.
netuix_common.jar
netuix_schemas.jar
netuix_system.jar
wlp-framework-common-web-lib.war
wlp-light-web-lib.war
After doing this when I try to deploy app in simple weblogic domain Im getting the following NoClassFoundError: com.bea.portlet.server.PortletHttpServer
If some one can point me where can I find this class that would be great.

1. I have created a web service (BASIC Auth SOAP) using Ejb.
2. Ejb in turn calls RFC function & returns the result.
3. Also I have created a flex object, which accesses the WSDL of above web service & will return the result.
4. Using netweaver Portal perspective, I have created a Simple portal application in which I am using the same Flex object(Using embed view tag)
5. I am using administrator's username & pwd for this application.
6. When I run this portal application, first it asks me for Portal login & password.
7. Then It displays the Flex object which has a Submit button on it.
8. On click of submit button , I am actually accessing the Web Service.
9. After clicking on Submit button, again it prompts for username & pwd.
10. After providing the same username & pwd (administrator), it shows me the required result.
But I don't want my application to prompt second time for the username & pwd. Is it possible to resolve this issue?

It sounds like you need to implement SSO across your landscape. Once you do that, you should be fine, assuming that the id you signed into the portal exists in the backend application.

Using User Management Engine API in Portal Application

Hello,
I actually develope a simple Portal Application, which print any User-Infos. Especially I need the date of the last Login. For this purpose I read the Article Using User Management Engine API - Portal - SAP Library where they use the library com.sap.security.api. In the articel they describe also, how to set DC dependencies. But this doesn't function for a Portal Component, because they do not appear in the Component Browser.
So my question is, how get I the User Management Engine API referenced in my Portal Application, so that I can use the package com.sap.security.api. In the filesystem I can not find a JAR-File for the Development Componenten tc/je/usermanagement/api

HI,
Getting the last logon date can be a small problem. There is a method called: getLastSuccessfulLogonDate, but that one is deprecated since NW 2004s.

In NW 7.3 the method is still there: Generated Documentation (Untitled), but even so, JavaDoc states that the value is not updated automatically
"get last sucessful logon date NOTE: This attribute is not automatically updated during login."

Unexpected server error while running Webcenter portal application

My JDeveloper 11.1.1.5.0 giving the following error when I try to run Webcenter portal application and it is fine for other applications. I also tried to ignore it but in vain......

Consuming external Web Service in portal application:Error URL.getProtocol

Hello!
I implemented a portal application which consums a external Web Service with NWDS 7.2.
The Webservice access works fine when I test it in a Java-Main Class.
If I deploy the application in a portal then I get the error:
java.lang.NullPointerException: while trying to invoke the method java.net.URL.getProtocol() of an object loaded from local variable 'tmpUrl'
It seems that my service_client-class has the problem to call the wsdl if the application is in portal:

I got the same error. In my case I used an Enterprise Application Project for the developement of my Portal Service. The portal service itself was calling an external webservice.
The reason in my case lies behind the generation of the EAR-File with the NetWeaver Developer Studio). Inside the generated EAR-File the WSDL-File was always missing. In consequence "
java.net.URL tmpUrl = SERVICEClient.class.getClassLoader().getResource
              ("wsdl/com/sap/test/SERVICE.wsdl");" is always "NULL".
and "tmpUrl.getProtocol()" leads to the NullPointerException.
So I copied my wsdl-folder / package with the wsdl-file inside the {application}.ear / {application}.war / WEB-INF / private / lib / {application}.jar and everything works fine:-)

PS: Today I found a better way without copying the wsdl-file into the EAR-File. I just didn't use the Enterprise Application Project for the developement of portal services anymore. If you look inside the generated EAR-File, you can see, that you can develop the portal service also by using a simple Dynamic Web Project wrapped by an Enterprise Application Project:-)
(Rem.: Don't miss the portalapp.xml deployment descriptor).
If you deploy the Enterprise Project the WSDL-File is always inside the generated EAR-File :-)

Java class reference error in Portal Application

Hello,
I have created a Portal Application Project with the Class
"public class TEST extends AbstractTestComponent implements ITestable"
in order to test the application.
The test works fine with a simple code.
Instead, using the external class HSSFWorkbook in order to create an excel file, the Enterprise Portal Unit Test return the following error:
"java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/apache/poi/hssf/usermodel/HSSFWorkbook"
I have tried to put the ZIP file of class into the folder "dist/PORTAL-INF/lib" and "dist/PORTAL-INF/exlib" but it doesn't work.
Can someone tell me what I have to do?

Hi,
note that a portal application has two classloaders. one for the public part (src.api) and one for the private one (src.core).
portal components reside in src.core by default. this means you need to load your jar file to the private class loader.
so instead of dist/PORTAL-INF/lib use dist/PORTAL-INF/private/lib

BPM Simple Sample Application Error!!!

i have some problems with the bpm simple sample applications on our local sap nw ce system (7.1 ehp1 sp0)?
on the esworkplace i have download the *.sca file and have import this file into my nwds.
i following the simple sample documentation an define and configure the ERP and ERP_META Destinations on the nwds and our local sap nw ce system.
also i do the future steps which was described (service registry, proxy settings, ...).
on page 16 of the simple sample documetation is defined which Sofware Component has dependencies to other SC´s.
the SC "BPEM_BUILDT" depends on the SC "ESMP_BUILDT" and "COMP_BUILDT", the SC "COMP_BUILT" doesnt exist on my nwds (7.1 ehp1 sp0).
has everybody any idea why the SC "COMP_BUILT" not exist on my nwds???
still this absent SC i can deploy the bpm simple sample successful to our sap nw ce system.
now i do the post deployment steps for the bpm samples.
after this i call the simple sample application on my sap nw ce portal and can execute the "Initiate Equipment Phase In Process".
now i can see a new entry on my uwl, i open the uwl task.
at step 1, 2, 3 i change no data an click next, after step 3 (create equipment) i get the following error:

How to read xml file present in the UCMS from webcenter portal application

I'm new to webcenter portal and would like to know how to read an xml file which is present in UCMS 11g(contributors folder) from webcenter portal application.

I guess I had mentioned that I want to read it via my webcenter portal app rather than login to ucms and searching it via url.
I want text labels and button names being stored in the xml file which I'm going to keep in the UCMS.
After reading that from the xml will be placed at appropriate locations like the button values and label feilds, so that we dont need to deploy entire app for this kind of simple changes.
Now can anyone provide some help with the api's related to this?

Accessing a portlet from Non-portal Application

Hi,
Is there a way to access a portlet in a non-portal application using javascript. The non-portal application may be a PHP one.
Also, is it possible to send some parameters through javascript so that the portlet can use it and render different content.

If by domain you mean the accessed url (and not the weblogic domain) , then yes any ajax based solution needs the files to be located in the same domain (as the browser sees it).
If that isnt the case you
a. Either use some sort of frames
b. use a server side proxy
c. Other loading javascipt based techniques
Of this b. is the most common , because its pretty simple to do as most modern webservers directly allow you to reverse proxy to any site by simple configuration.
E.g. if you have PHP on apache as www.youweb.com and your weblogic runs on yourapp.com , you can create a rule on the apache which states that /xyz goes to weblogic (by using the weblogic plugin or mod_proxy). Once you do this , you are running on the same domain as the browser ses and ajax will work

Tutorial on Portal application

Hi all,
I need to create a small portal application : 1 screen calling some BAPIs. I usually work with Web Dynpro for Java but here I am asked not to use this technology. I read the documentation but I couldn't find any tutorial on Portal development and the development process is still not clear to me (do I need to create EP project, J2EE project in NWDS ?). Does anyone have a link on this ? Just one simple how-to describing step by step the creation of one iView calling a BAPI would be perfect ! (like in the Web Dynpro tutorials https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/developerareas/webdynpro?rid=/library/uuid/49f2ea90-0201-0010-ce8e-de18b94aee2d)

Error while Creating a basic portal application using JDeveloper

I am trying to build a portal application using the following tutorial on JDeveloper 11.1.1.5.0 on Windows XP.

The below message comes when you don't specify any default file for your webcenter portal application and this should not be any problem.
Target Portal.jpr is not runnable, using default target index.html.

1. Did you just created a new wcp application in jdev and ran it with out doing any changes? If you have done what are the changes?
2. How did you ran your application? (right clicking a particular page or right clicking your portal project and selected "run" option?

Portal application connecting backend SAP R/3 system

Hi All,
 I am developing one portal application through NWDS. It's JSPDYNPage component.The applications functionality is basicaly is to connect it to backend SAP R/3 system & fetch some data in aparticular table & display that data in a tableview format on one JSP& also when i click any row of the tableview then details of that row should get displayed on the next JSP. So i reached till develpoing a code that connnects to Backend SAP R/3.(Basicaly coding of connection part is done). Now i need to test this code, to check whether it is fine or not? NWDS doesnt give nay error, not compile also or not runtime error also. It simply shows the output as a blank page, where it is supposed to display one line of text in textview(i coded this in my JSP).But as i said it displays a blank page. i tried to debug the application , but debugging also not worked.I performed the debugging twice in right way. The code was not debugged, it run the same way as it normally runs when debugging is off & shown the blank page. I also have done all the the settings or prerequisites for debugging properly. I am stuck at this point now.search many documents , but no relevant help has been received. Can anyonehlep me with this. i am putting below the code for JSP, JSPDYNPAGE component as well as portalapp.xml.
