Simple search- Help

I have designed a page with 3 attributes.When I pass the employee number I should get other two values form database on the page.
I am getting No Current row for VO error.
Following code(defined in AM) is called from controller on press of submit(for searching) button.

Hi,
"No Current row for VO" - This error comes if the select query in your VO doesnt return any rows. ex : if there is no data in the database for the userid that you are supplying, your VO will return 0 records. So there is no current row in VO which is attached to your UI. This is why you are getting the error. so make sure that you provide an existing userid to the bind parameter.
and in your code, it should be findViewObject("EmployeeVO1") not findViewObject("EmployeeVO"). please check

Search help is an object of the ABAP Dictionary with which input helps (F4 helps) can be defined.
You can create it in the Transaction Code SE11, choosing "Search Help" Radio-Button.
There are the following types of search helps:
Elementary search helps implement a search path for determining the possible entries.
Collective search helps contain several elementary search helps. A collective search help therefore provides several alternative search paths for possible entries.
Append search helps can be used to enhance collective search helps delivered by SAP with customer-specific search paths without requiring a modification.

I have a requirement to attach a search help to the screen fields in table control. it's region, state& district.the functionality should be as follows.
These three fields are from different tables.
1)If i select state after selecting a region only states in that region should come.
2)If i select any district without selcting region and state ,the region and state should be automatically populated.
i tried using collective search help but it is not working on the screen fields..
pl. give me some solutions.

2. U can easily achieve this functionality,
if all these 3 fields,
with all different master combination values,
are present in 1 single table.

4. just make 1 simple search help out of it,
and make all the 3 parameters

Material Search Help for VA01 - Material by Plant

I want to know how to find out the search help for that material in that tcode. Please tell me in detail how to proceed with this and where to go with the modifications or enhancement.

Hi,
you don't need any exit / badi.
Go in VA02, in material number go in technical information : F1 ; F9
You will show there is no search-help link to the field. So the search-help is taken from the data element.
Go in SE11 and show the data element MATNR.
In the thirth tab you will find the search-help link : S_MAT1.
Go in SE11 and show the search help S_MAT1 (each time you could double click instead of reopen SE11).
This is a group search, that means, it contains many search help.
Copy a simple search help, modify as you would like.
Add your own search help in the S_MAT1, and don't forget to link fields (parameters).
You don't need any object key or user-exit.
You will affect all the screen of SAP using this search-help S_MAT1.

Help! Adding Simple Search to Seeded OA Framework Sreen

I need to add a simple search screen to seeded OA Framework screen for Supplier Products and Services. Please guide me best approach to hit this.
I am also facing following problems:
1. I have no idea about attaching bc4j components.
2. The view object for this screen is selecting from dual but the data is coming from some other tables. I checked the Impl class and there is no initQuery methods defined. Where/how this query must be getting fired.
3. How/Where do I need to add regions for simple search.

There will be viewAttributes defined on the VO which are transient if the developer is populating them from some PL/SQL procedure. You can add more attributes depending on your reuqirement and make sure you add your logic of populating thesenew attributes. For this you need to find where the developer is populating the VO programmatically and see if you can extend their logic.

HELP need simple search page

Hi. I need to build a search page of the database. I think it's a simple search. The "catalog" is set up in the MYSQL database structure into two tables :authors and books: which are relational via ID numbers. The idea is to enter a search term on the search page and come up with a list of results that look like catalog entries. Each catalog entry consists of book, author, picture, and description. The user needs to be able to enter any term, or partial term and come up with entries. How do I do this?
I'm in CS3.

Have a form with form action that goes to script.php on script.php create a recordset and filter entered value against database table field. Then add bindings onto the page to show the results of the filtered recordset. Nest the bindings in a repeat region to display results if there's more than one result available in the search query.

About Running Remote Search Helps in SRM via Webdynpro ABAP

I am having troubles trying to implement an input help for a custom field in the standard Shopping Cart Portal page for item level.
I would like to implement the same input help used in field Network of Activities, but as I can see in WDA component '/SAPSRM/WDC_UI_DO_ACC', it seems to use another component in order to run a remote Search Help (I assume it is an original search help from PS system).
Does anybody know how to use this backend search help WDA Component? (/SAPSRM/WDC_UI_BACKEND_SH)
I haven´t found any information regarding that :S.
Another option would be to create a new RFC FM in PS returning the expected values, and use these entries to build a list value selector associated to the corresponding context attribute (This is not what I would like...)

Figured it out.
/SAPSRM/WDC_UI_BACKEND_SH is a 'freely programmed' search help used in SRM.
1. Add this helpview (HV) component usage to your component controller, and view controller.
2. Map HV SELECTION context to your view
3. Modify the context attribute you want backend searchhelp to 'freely programmed', and select the component usage created in step above (note this is done dynamically in SAP code, b/c attribute is defined as dictionary search help in SAP components) -- this took a bit to figure out.
4. IMPORTANT: Give your context attributes the SAME NAME (COST_CTR in my case) as those in structure /SAPSRM/S_CH_WD_MAP_ACC (how obvious was that)
5. IMPORTANT: Set your LOGSYS in /SAPSRM/CL_PDO_VALHELP_FACTORY class - love those those factories (tic)
DATA: lo_helper TYPE REF TO /SAPSRM/IF_PDO_ACCT_ASSGT_HLPR,
CALL METHOD /SAPSRM/CL_PDO_VALHELP_FACTORY=>GET_ACCT_ASSGT_HELPER

How simple was that? Yikes. I should have just built a custom dictionary search help to RFC over and call the BAPI for Cost Center List.

you can use function module F4IF_INT_TABLE_VALUE_REQUEST
or
can follow these simple steps for search help:
go to se11==>
put some name after ticking search help radiobutton==>
create==>
then tick " elementery search help " and press enter ===>
then put description and table name in selection method ===>
then put the field on which u want search help in search help parameter==>
tick IMP EXP ==>
write 1 in lpos and spos===>
save and activate===>
double click on table name ===>
select that field and press *search help tab* above===>
then copy

Problem in Search Help[F4] - Values Not being Dsplayed

Hi,
Search help values are not being displayed.
F4 help pop up is being displayed with the text on top: ' xxxx number of entries found".
But no values are visible in that popup where it normaly displayes all values for selection. This is happening with all search helps.
Example: I tried for Tcode: ME21, for field Vendor.

Any clue on that..??

Hello Vijay,
This is simple as well.
Go to help then settings and then F4 help. Under system defaults tab strip you will find Display tab strip. Here go to change mode and choose dialog. The other choice will be for control only ( 2 radio buttons only this time around). However to do so make sure you have the authorization object S_ADMI_FCD with value TCTR.
Ask yoru authorization adminstrator to make these changes. He would be having these authorizations. Normally all users dont have this authorization as this is part of security audit considerations.

Error in Simple Search

i have created simple page with simple emp search. i have created query region(construction mode is autocustomizationcriteria, for that i have created query components(simplesearchpanel and simplesearchmapping) and i am searching based on empno.
when i am running the page, if i click just go button w/o entering anything in empno textbox, it is giving all the details.
but if i enter any particular empno in the textbox then click go button then it is giving error like,
No current row for View .
i have added advanced panel also, it is working fine in advanced search. and if i add LOV to the empno textbox then also it is working fine.
only in simple search, if i don't add any LOV if i enter any particular empno then it is giving above error.
i don't know where i am wrong.can anyone help.

Do you have any view object and attribute mapped to the Emp. No. Criteria Message Text Input...?

Creating select option with the search help based on other select option

Hi,
I have displayed a selection screen with two select options S1 and S2.
My requirement is that the values in the search help of S2 should get filled based on the values selected in S1.
Note: User has option to select multiple values in S1.
Does anybody know how to implement this?

I'm getting fairly tired of seeing this completely incorrect information on this forum. As stated before and already found out by this poster, you can map input and output values between multiple data dictionary search helps. You do NOT have to resort to using OVS for this option.

Personalized Simple Search with new messageLovInput - Search does not work

I have currently set an Message LOV Input into a Simple Search Panel for IcxPorRcvSrchPG.
I have got the LOV bringing back the correct values, but when I hit the GO button the Search does not work.
Can someome please help me on how I am able to get the search working in the Simple Search Panel.
Details of VO's are as follows:

When I generate and then view the help, it looks perfect! I changed the name of the project folder since the information is proprietary. I have several pictures including the parent folder and the only 3 folders that are generated. I cannot find the Webhelp output folder. I think this is what you need to see.

Calling a standard search help from MS Office

One of the companies I work for has integration with Microsoft Office so users can create SAP DMS (document management system for those who aren't familiar with it) entries directly from e.g. Microsoft Word. The integration solution is a custom .Net application.
In addition to the obvious integration to create the DMS info record and assign the document as an original the integration solution lets the user provide classification data. Some changes are now being planned, and one of them is challenging as a new characteristic (for the classification) will be used to store an organization unit. This is straightforward when the user is in the SAP GUI, as the standard search help can easily be displayed from custom code.
Being a technology optimist I was hoping that with the new fancy technologies SAP would have provided a way to use .NET integration to display a standard search help from the MS Office integration dialogue - but so far I have not been able to find any information supporting this hope. Luckily I am not the developer working with the integration dialogue, but unless the mentioned possibility exists it looks like we have to resort to passing all organization units to the interface so a hierarchy can be constructed and displayed to the user for selection.
Another alternative (I think) is to recreate the dialogue as a web dynpro screen, which will give us all the advantages of operating "inside" SAP. However, I am not sure if this is possible either. Can a web dynpro screen be called from an MS Office application (.Net), and can that web dynpro screen return values to the (external) calling application? In my simple view of the world this should be doable, if not otherwise it should at least be possibly by wrapping the screen in a function module that is exposed so the .Net application can call it - either by RFC or as a web service.
Microsoft Office version is 2003.
SAP release is ECC 6.0 (Netweaver 7.0).
I think this is the right forum for my question. My apologies if it isn't (and any guidance towards a more appropriate forum would then be appreciated).
