Single Record Form: fields display with the wrong width

I'm laying out fields on a single record form and notice that the width of the fields displayed when I run the form is less than the width I specify on the "Edit Page Item" page. Here are 3 examples:
field 1: Display as=text, Width=100, Maximum Width=100, ==> displayed width=76
field 2: Display as=text, Width=50, Maximum Width=50, ==> displayed width=46
field 3: Display as=textarea Width=100 Maximum Width=100 ==> displayed width=100
Anyone know why this is happening? I'm trying to layout the form so that it has a pleasing look. It's hard to get the fields lined up when they don't display according to the widths specified.

Setting the Width of the Page Item sets the input elements "size" attribute. HTML rendering based on size attribute is not a precise as you need. You should use CSS for precision. See Compatibility Notes

Single-digit form fields

This is probably a very simple answer, but I am unable to figure it out. When I create a single-digit form field, I want the user to enter the appropriate number and then the tab will automatically advaance to the next field. I tried creating it with a text field, set up as below, but it does not automatically advance. What am I missing? Thanks.

Tabbing to another field automatically requires using a script. There's no
built-in method of doing it.

Projecting an image with the wrong display profile

I've just spent three hours with a friend and his projector/laptop. He uses it to display images at a photography club, and recently he's had trouble getting a satisfactory projection, with display size and colour rendition.
The laptop is a MESH 1366x768 running Windows 7 and CS4, the projector was a Canon SX80 1400x1050. They were connected by VGA.
1, as the projector and laptop monitor were different native resulutions, I established that the Windows needed to be set to external-only for the desktop to assume the projector's dimensions.
2, I noticed that he'd calibrated the laptop's display, so I made sure that Display 1 (LCD) was using the Spyder profile, and Display 2 (SX80) was using sRGB.
3, I set the projector to sRGB mode and zeroed all its adjustments.
The colours were awful, and no amount of projector adjustment helped much. Eventually, I tried a bunch of sRGB images in the projector's USB port, and I realised that the zeroed state was actually pretty good - so it turned out that the laptop was the problem.
I took a flyer, and ditched the laptop display profile, replacing it with sRGB. Bingo! The projector's VGA display was now very similar to the USB display.
I put the calibrated profile back on "Display 1", as a sanity check, and confirmed this was the problem (and, before you ask, yes I restarted the applications each time I changed the CM settings).
So, the question is: what the heck is happening here? Is Windows 7 delivering the wrong profile to CM Adobe software, or is Adobe only looking for the primary display profile? Am I missing something?

From what I've read, some display drivers don't allow the distinction of using different profiles for multiple displays. Someone no doubt took a shortcut somewhere and assumed there would/could only be one display. Given that the laptop in some modes can share the very same display with the VGA port, this isn't that surprising.
I don't know whether this is something that might have been corrected, but whether a newer driver has been released for that laptop might be something to check into.
Laptop display drivers are typically not available from the chipset manufacturer, but rather the laptop maker, and traditionally in general they don't do all that good a job keeping up with technology, so there may well not be a driver update available.

Form field displaying but not in session state

I have a form which displays data depending on node selected in a tree. The data displays ok and allows me to update but If I try to access a value ( I want to filter a select list ) its empty.
Displaying all session values reveals that only the primary key of the form is held in sessikon state. I have set the value I want to read to 'Display as Text ( saves state )'

I have 2 regions, a tree and a form. The form was created with the wizard and I added the tree afterwards.
The tree nodes are links which branch to the same page and set the value of the primary key field .

Hi, thanks for the answer, I did that already. Unfortunatly this doesn't help me at all, as I often forget to check the menu. For me composing the message is writing the text, the subject, the person to who is addressed and than press "send".
I often forget to check the "from", and this is a problem because the software select itself one of the accounts.
Isn't there a way at least to put as a default a blank field instead of one of the accounts? or an account which doesn't work so if I forget to specify the "from" I will be rnotofied that the message can't be sent.
I guess this could be a rather common problem for many people!

How many records can be displayed with fm REUSE_ALV_LIST_DISPLAY?

Hi guys!!!
Now here's is my problem. I've been trying to display in a program wih fm REUSE_ALV_LIST_DISPLAY, aproximately 450,000 records. But the fact is that after 10 or 15 minutes the system stops the process.
This case is not the same when I display with the same function a very low number of lines.
What can I do?
Maybe one possibility is using the method for ALV List (ALV List Objects)

Hi,
If you are not expecting to do any additional functionality that the ALV has, like, summing, sorting, filter...etc,
better display the result in a normal LIST.
or try to filter your results and in the selection screen, give an option to enter the number records you want to display in the report.

How to strip HTML out of the form field but leave the basic user formatting?

What would you recommend to automatically strip out HTML that a user has entered into a form field? At the same time we need to preserve the basic formatting that was submitted by the users i.e. replace <p> tags with CRLF, etc. StripHTML function is perfect but it removes all HTML and therefore, all formatting. Is there anything more flexible?

Do you need to strip it, or just render it inoperable.
The latter can be done with the htmlEditFormat() and htmlCodeFormat() functions.
If you want the striping, take a look at related functions at the http://www.cflib.org site. I know I have seen HTML replace functions that had the ability to be configured to strip and|or not strip a select list of tags.
StripHTML() may actually have this feature (I believe it is hosted at cflib.org). You may just need to see the documentation on how to configure it thus.

Save Forms Fields PDF with information un-editable

We created a simple 5 form field PDF invoice for a client to edit and send out to customers. They want to be able to edit the fields, but then save the resulting PDF with the input information to be un-editable but the end customer they are sending the invoice to. Is this possible?

Will the client be using Acrobat or just Reader? If just Reader, you can lock the fields after they are filled-in by making them read-only, which will require a script. You should also set the default value of each field to the current value of the field, which prevents clearing the form if the user resets the form. There's an older topic from several months ago that discusses this in more detail. If you can't find it, post again and I'll try.
If they will be using Acrobat, a better approach is to flatten the form fields, which converts the field apperances to regular page contents, removing the form fields in the process. You can flatten fields with Acrobat using JavaScript, PDF Optimizer, or Preflight. Post again if you need help with this.

NewsBrowser Layout - Resource cannot be displayed with the XML Resource

I've assigned the standard SAP NewsBrowser layout to the folder I created. All the subsequent folders display correctly except for the files. The following error appears, "Resource cannot be displayed with the XML Resource Render." However, if I re-assign another standard SAP layout to the folder or to the iView the files appear. The benefit of this layout is we wouldn't have to modify any commands.
Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated.

Can the fields grow with the section expanding?

Can the fields grow with the section expanding?There are several fields in one section of my report, all the fields are formatted with "Can Grow" checked and bottom border showed. In design mode, all the bottom borders stick to the bottom of the section. However, when print, the section may expand as some fields grow, but the rest fields can not expand automaticly with the section, so the bottom borders will not be at the same height as before. How can I deal with it? Is there any option about this?
Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated

One thought I have is to insert another section just below the one where the growing fields are and put a single line or individual lines under those fields. Move it up to the top of that new section and move the break between the existing section and the newly added one tight up against the bottom of the 'can grow' fields.
Another possiblity lies in the fact that the "Can Grow" option has a formula attached to it. I don't know if it will work or not but maybe an If/Then formula could tell field B to grow if field A grows. I've never tried that but it may be possible. I'd think the first suggestion would be the one to try first.
