Slow bluetooth detection after powerbook wake-up
Hello!
When I am using my Powerbook at home, it is connected to an external screen and I am using it with an Apple bluetooth keyboard and a Logitech bluetooth mouse. My problem is that every time I wake up my Powerbook from sleep, it takes approximately 10-15 seconds before it begins checking up on the bluetooth peripherals, which means that I am incapable of interacting with the OS for ca. 20 seconds - unless I begin fiddling around with the keyboard and mouse on the Powerbook itself.
Is there any way to speed up this process somehow, so that the first thing the OS does after a wake-up is to check on the bluetooth connections?
Seems like an OS X update fixed this. Still a tad slow though...

Bluetooth problem after update to lollipop
Hi,I've recently updated my 6503 to Lollipop.Everything went smoothly and is working fine, except 2 issues - one solved, second NOT. FIRST (solved) - phone after update waked up and logged to 2G network, with no data transmission (despite it was turned ON). What was strange - my operator's network appeared in 'available network list' as separate 3 NETWORKS ( 2g, 3g and LTE) Switching manually to LTE solved it - now phone is switching between technologies automatically, data transmission is working fine. SECOND AND NOT SOLVED: I'm using the hands-free system built in my car ( mitsubishi lancer, 2008 ) . After update, phone failed to establish connection with it, even hands-free system remained as 'associated device'. OK ... I erased hands-free system from phone, as well as phone from car's memory. Paired devices again - starting procedure from car's side. Nothing better. Erased and paired starting from phone side. Nothing better.What I've observed more: phone after try to establish connection , phone in eye blink looses it. On list of available services of hands-free system (in phone menu ofc) , only 'phone sound' appears, while -as I remember but i'm not sure- before update more (2 or 3) services were detected . PLEASE HEEELP !
Re: Bluetooth problem after update to lollipop As above post, I am also experiencing problems with bluetooth on my Z2:- Phone connection is OK if Bluetooth is turned on the phone for " car is ready". Then I can make and receive calls.
- Playing music on bluetooth does not work after Lollipop 5.0.2 update on my car head unit. Previously connected and able to stream music on 4.4.4 Kit Kat with no issues, looking on web this is not a new issue with Bluetooth connection issues to devices since Lollipop came out so what the **bleep** is going on? I purposely bought a Sony TV, Car Head Unit and Soundbar to ensure everything worked together now the head unit that I only had fiitted in February does not connect which cost me £249!!! No issues connecting to TV or Soundbar but on HU it tries to connect then disconnects and BT Audio Icon on HU display greys out although phone is connected and icon highlighted as connected. Bluetooth disappeared after a restart...Says theres no hardware. MacBook UB

I am new to Mac, and this MacBook is my first one to own. I recently had to hold down the power button, because my computer would not respond, or wake from the screen saver. When I turned it back on, the Bluetooth icon in my menu bar, was gone, and so was the System Preferences pane. Do you guys have any idea what happened? I also searched in Spotlight Bluetooth, and opened Bluetooth Explorer. It said there was no Bluetoth hardware... I recently have installed the iPhone 2.0 free SDK, if that helps. I do have regular Time Machine backups to a USB external drive. Thanks for anything, Ryan.Thanks for the solution My bluetooth works after trashing my plist and resetting the PRAM.
However, it is only a temporary one. Every time I close my MacBook lid to put it to sleep it does not wake up at all. I have to force shutdown by holding on to the power button for a few seconds and restart.
Upon restart, my bluetooth disappears again. This happens every time I put my MacBook to sleep by closing the lid. I am lost as to why this is happening.
Now I have to shutdown completely all the time. Hopefully the bluetooth issue will not crop up again. But Apple should do something about this problem soon.

Hi.i really need to know why some iphone 5s lose wi-fi or bluetooth comminucations after a while?!? i just charged it with my iphone 4's adapter,it can be the reason?!?!?!?! i dont think so....
It would help to have more details about when your phone loses wi-fi or bluetooth.
When an iPhone locks itself it turns Wi-fi off. I haven't had any problems with bluetooth turning off.
You might try restarting the phone. Double tap the home button to open the multitasking drawer, tap and hold on any icon in the drawer until the icons start to jiggle, tap the X that appears on the upper corner of each icon to shut them all down. Press the Home button to close the drawer. Then hold the sleep/wake button down and wait for the Slide to Power Off slider appears. Slide it and wait for the phone to shut down. Wait a few seconds and then press and hold the sleep/wake button again until the Apple logo appears and the phone restarts.
You can also reset your network settings, go to Settings => General => Reset Network Settings. You will have to reconnect and enter passwords for any wi-fi networks that you normally connect to after you do this.

SLOW and SLUGGISH after clean install PLEASE HELP!
My Macbook Pro started acting slugggish a few nights ago, and it seemed after a reboot that it ran better, but quickly slowed down. I ran permissions, disk repair, reset the PRAM the SMC and etc... nothing helped. I tried to do a Time Machine restore and after 10 hours of SLOW restoration (it still had 70 hours left) i decided to do a CLEAN INSTAL of Yosemite 10.10.
Same thing, takes over 10 minutes to boot up and i click on something and the beach ball will spin for a minute.
Disk Utility says everything is OK.... but even the internet is sluggish as if the entire machine is not processing the information fast enough.
ANY HELP is greatly appreciated as this is on day 4.

I am having a problem with very slow start up after expanding RAM on my 2009 Mac Pro.
I am having a problem with very slow start up after expanding RAM on my 2009 Mac Pro (8 Core 2.93GHz). When I run the Mac Pro with 2 x 2Gb RAM it takes 4 seconds before the gray screen, chime and spinning wheel appear.However when I expand the RAM to 20GB the grey screen and chimes appear after a long 20+ second black screen.
The RAM modules are paored 2 x 4GB Crucial CT51272BA1339.M18FMR and 6 x 2GB SAMSUNG M391B5673FH0-CH9, all DDR3 ECC.
Reading articles on the internet, I thought it may be damaged RAM modules, but I have completed memtest and all are okay. I have tried changing the pairs around and if I use any paired 2 modules the Mac Pro starts normally, only when I try running more than 2 modules the delayed start up happens. (black screen 20 Seconds)
I also have tried PRAM and SMU resets after changing the RAM setups, and the issues always occurs when I have more than 2 modules. As you can see I have 6 SAMSUNG modules and even with identical modules the issue happens, when increasing the RAM to more than 2 modules.
The Mac Pro runs fine after the start up screen and can see all the modules, but has anyone else come across this issue, or have any ideas as to why my Mac Pro is taking 20 seconds to start up with 20 GB RAM?Hi there. Thanks for your comments.
I have tried all the different combinations of RAM setup, and as stated in my initial topic, the Mac Pro boot up time only slows when I have more that 2 modules. Where I place these does not seem to make a difference.
I have taken the Mac Pro to an Apple Reseller technician yesterday and they where not able to find any RAM errors. Apparently the boot up time is within Apple's acceptable parameters for this set up.
Could anyone that is running a Mac Pro 2009 with more that 4 modules of RAM, please let me know if the boot up time is normal. ( the time it takes from pressing the power button to seeing the gray screen around 16 - 20 seconds)
Or is anyone else having the same issues?

At the beginning I thought the problem was sga too smalle ( ini: 598M , now 1408M ) but even after recreating the database with the new value the problem remains.

Disk Utility erase fails after computer wakes up
I'm having an annoying problem with Disk Utility on OS X Lion 10.7.5 failing to erase a harddrive thats plugged into a HDD Docking Station via USB after computer wakes up from screen-off. I have an OCZ Agility 4 SATAIII 512.11 Gb SSD. I'm trying to do a complete erase with 7-Pass Erase so I can use this SSD for my Sony VAIO Laptop so I can ready it for fresh install for Ubuntu.
Now the problem with Disk Utility is that when I've selected 7-Pass Erase, I go away and leave the computer to do it's thing while it erases it, however when I come back and wake the computer screen to come back on, Disk Utility then tells me the erase failed. –– In my System Preferences for Power Saving settings I have the computer set to NEVER sleep, but only put the screen off after a while when not in use (ie; after 30 minutes). My other Sys Prefs settings are also set to ask for login after waking, I've not yet tested without this setting turned off to see if it's cause of problem, but I'll probably give it a shot anyway and see what happens. But I don't see how that would cause the problem since anything working in the background should still remain active while the screen is off just like Time Machine does for example when it does backups since it's USB powered.
Anyway… I think is either some kind of bug/error in Disk Utility or OS X itself. I've tried other Hard Drives and SSD's and they've all worked just about the same, and I don't think it's the HDD Docking Station either because it mounts everything perfectly and runs fine for continus use, I just hope there's a workable solution to fix this annoying problem when waking the screen from sleep. I have tested that it is screen-off that's causing it to fail by pressing the following keys Ctrl + ⇧ + ⏏ to put the screen to sleep, then waking again then entering my password to get back in. I have 1 other thing I've yet to try out, I've currently got it plugged in via USB port on my keyboard, I'll have to try it out on my iMac's main USB's ports to see if that may be part of the problem too.Please boot into Internet Recovery (Command+Opt+R) and ensure you see the spinning globe. If you do, you can use diskutil cs commands to initialize your disk and re-install/restore from a TM backup.

Ive got the same problem with a Western Digital 500GB My Book Pro on my iMac Ive tried it on a few other machines and I think its happened on them, I say think because it was only when it had happened a couple of time that I started to take notice of circumstances etc and ive only had the drive a week, downloaded what may be a more uptodate "My Button manager" from the WD site still happened but Ive got this idea that it didnt happen on one machine which may not have had the MyButton thing on at that time, have you solved it yet I am using USB at the moment.

Why does my MacBook Pro go back to sleep just after it wakes up?
My MacBook Pro (OSX 10.7.5, 13" late 2011 model) tends to go to sleep about 15 seconds after it wakes up. I open the cover, type in my password, pull up email or web browser, and suddenly the screen goes black & the computer is back in sleep mode. It takes a few mouse clicks or hitting space or return to get it to wake up so I can reenter the password. After that it seems to work fine. Any ideas on what might be the problem?
OS X is not loading for some reason off the drive.
Normally you would see a gray screen with a spinning circle, but the gray screen splash is held in EFI firmware and loaded first.
You'll have to run through this list of fixes, see how far you get to resolve your issue yourself, or have to take it in for service/repair.

Adobe InDesign CC slow to initialise after machine restart
I am finding that InDesign CC is extremely slow to launch after I restart my iMac (takes around 2 minutes). Once it has been launched once it then launches far more quickly (around 20sec). If I log out then back in it still only takes around 20secs to launch. But as soon as I restart my machine the first launch takes around 2 minutes again.
I am assuming that InDesign is copying items to a temporary location (outside of my user space) that is getting reset at restart. My question is, is this a known behaviour, if so can it be got around (something like identifying the temporary files and copying them to the correct temporary location at login)?

We were not able to get any crash reports - that option not available; the spinning wheel was coming on and off, but nothing would happen and nothing could be done, but re-start machines.
Have cleared prefs files since, this a few times. Based on suggestions found from others having the same problems.
After clearing prefs files, worked awhile , then the same happened.

Is there a fix for Bluetooth failing after 1-2 hours of play on my remote audio speakers? It sounds like "gargling". It occurs with all bluetooth speakers and quitting and restarting bluetooth is the only remedy I've found. Others?
