Slow loading sound clips

Hi:
I created a tutorial project for a customer. The project
consist of about 34-40 pieces of voice over to which sprites are
animated visualizing what the voice over explains. I converted the
voice clips to .wav files because I added cue points for director
to recognize. I ended up with clips as big as 12mb. The total size
of my executable right now is 184mb. The project plays fine, except
that it takes about 30 seconds to start, and every time a new
section is about to start, it takes about 5-10 second for the audio
to load. Once the audio is loaded, it plays fine, until the next
clip is reached, and it freezes again until it loads.
Is there a way to load the whole project at once? Is there a
better way to handle these type of projects? Am I stuck with what I
have?

In the help file there are instructions to make a "fast start
projector". It is underthe heading "Creating Projectors".
That is the
fastest you can get it to load. there are a few other tricks,
like
making a bitmap (or pict on Mac) for a splash screen. Name it
the same
as the projector...
i.e. if you have projector.exe then your splash screen will
be named
projector.bmp. It will popup almost immediately, so it at
least looks
like something is happening though it won't actually speed
anything up.

    As far as I know,there is no facility for detecting mouse scrolling wheel in JDK 1.3.
    Check it in the later releases of JDK.

    Please be aware that this is a 4 day long weekend in some parts of the world and the day after a 3 day weekend in much of the rest, so patience please.
    On your sound question, you have control of the AudioInputStreams and can close them as needed, you should check to ensure that there aren't a lot of unwanted threads hanging around. If the clips are short and encoded in PCM format you could use the Applet.AudioClip class, your code doesn't need to be an applet.

  • AME CS6 painfully slow loading large quantities of clips.

    I'm using AME CS6 to transcode clips to prepare clips for delivery to a client that will only accept OP1a MXF's.  I have hundreds of clips to transcode and AME CS6 is unbearably slow loading them.  Usually I set up a watch folder but in this case I have two batches to run, one with about 750 individual clips and one with about 450.  Using watch folders just completely brought AME to it's knees trying to transcode a file while updating the queue.  I've just spent two hours loading the clips into AME by dragging/dropping them into the queue (that time includes time spent waiting while AME hangs while trying to change the codec/output setting).
    Earlier versions of AME were no where near as slow as this.  Even just scrolling up/down the queue that used to be fluid is now a click, wait, update..click, wait update process.  I could have copied the files from drive to drive in less time than this took to load/index.  Is there anything that can be done to speed up this process?

    Stephen, thanks for writing. It's a pretty massive project and because clips often criss-cross between segments I have been working everything inside the same edit. I also wanted to see just how hard I could push Premiere (I've been using Premiere for 7 years now). Mind you once everything loads it still does just fine. Edits like a champ. Just was a bit frustrating with the load time.
    On #1, I don't have time machine set-up anymore as I ate up all my space.
    On #2 this is an interesting suggestion. I'm letting project manager analyze my project right now. I've never used project manager to break off individual edits so this should be interesting. Yes, just me on one machine. I'm shooting and editing at the same time and also doing graphics so I reckon by December. I have two full backups of all footage and edit files and save to a new edit file every couple of days (plus I have auto-save rolling).
    And for whatever reason, today when I opened a different project and then went back to the large project, suddenly the problem dissappeared. Weird but there it is. All 20,000 clips now load again under 4 minutes.

  • Imatch wont upload many of  my sound clips, how do I load them on ipad

    I am trying to upload 100's of small sound clips onto my ipad. I have match "on'. Match refuses to upload and I can't sync.. What now?
    If i turn off match on ipad will it remove my already uploaded songs? If i turn it off, sync it and then turn back on will it remove the synced songs?
    Running 12.1 itunes

  • IMac - Slow load and wifi problems

    I have lion installed on my macbook pro and on my iMac. My macbook pro works GREAT...no problems. My iMac - I am ready to toss out a window. Here are the problems:
    INCREDIBLY slow boot up time - 5-10 minutes from off - 5-8 minutes from sleep
    The hard drive is constantly working. I can have nothing open and it sounds like the hard drive is constantly spinning
    Half the time my wifi hardware is not found on boot up and I have to reboot with slow load times - sometimes taking 20 minutes before I can get logged in to a 'working' computer
    A lot of my programs have become slow. Safari can be slow responsive but others that are not apple that have done 'lion updates'
    I have my activity monitor running and nothing seems to be hogging resources. My iMac specs are:
    2.8 intel core i5
    12 gb ram
    2 TB hard drive with about 1tb free
    I ran the lion update that came out and it did not seem to do much for me.
    Anyone have a solution? Anyone tried a clean format and did this work? Lion works great on my laptop and I just need it to work on my main computer as well.

    i think part of the boot up time issue is the amount of windows you happen to have open when you put it to sleep
    other is lion upgrade slows it down due to this auto save function
    my wifi is also spotty and acts like it can't find itself at times
    and this is a brand new imac

  • Download of sound clips to offline G4's

    Hey everyone - I'm a teacher and we're currently using Garage Band in class for a broadcasting class. I'd like to update Garage Band with the latest sound clips, effects and what not, but our Macs are not connected to the network. Is there a way to download the updates and save to a flash drive then install? There are a lot of greyed out effects that the students would like to use! Thanks!

  • Slow loading website

    So I just finished my website but it loads piece by piece and
    a slower than I would have liked. is there anyway to improve this

    A couple of things:
    (1) If the music is in your flash file, you can delay it a
    few frames. Too much in the first frame slows loading. You might
    consider adding a volume X button for those that want to browse w/
    sound.
    (2) Optimize the images of your page. There are a lot of them
    which is one of the reasons for the slow load.
    Is that your musical composition? If not, you should post
    your use with permission on the front page to oblige the author's
    permission. If you don't have that....lose the music. Be careful
    here, especially with professional sites.

  • Multiple Sound Clip Strategy Suggestions Sought

    I am using the javax.sound objects to play the sounds.
    I am writing an application using the javax.sound api where each object owns a sound clip that can be played at any point in time. Some objects can play the same sound - and if this occurs these sounds play simultaniously, over one another.
    For example - if this was a war video game (it isn't), each soldier object might play a gun shot at slightly different times - the more action the more layered the sound becomes.
    I am using clips, loading one for each object when it is created. This all works fine if there are less than 32 objects, after which I get LineUnavailableExceptions.
    This is my first foray into Sound - so forgive me if this is a no brainer. I am looking for feedback or examples for a better way to go about this.
    Here are some of my thoughts:
    From the stack trace I can see that an audio clip get loaded into a MixerClip mixer, and that the limit must be 32. Is there a different Mixer I could assign this to get around this?
    Ami I going about this all wrong? Should I be streaming each sounds when it is played? Should I be pooling the sounds somehow so I am not loading the same sound x many times? Can the same sound clip be played multiple times?

    Yes - it is a hardware limitiation. The question still applies - perhaps using clips is not the best choice given this - so I am looking for a better way.

  • Clip Speed and Transpose does not work on a sound clip

    Dear All,
    I am trying to slow down and change pitch of an .aiff sound clip in Soundtrack pro but the "Clip Speed" and "Transpose" does not work. I tried the same version of the clip in .mp3 format but nothing happens. It is a music clip 2 min 19sec long. What am I not aware of?
    I am using 2.0.2 version and I am fairly new to the software.

    Have you checked the integration services (Assuming you are using Hyper-V)?
    The devices are configured based on the related services. You might need to install/Configure that thing.

  • Play swf file from sound clips

    Can someone help me please.
    I have 20 sound clips that I have embeded in Dreamweaver CS3
    using the Insert Plugin option.
    I also have 20 swf files.
    I would like to play swf file #1 when the user starts sound
    clip #1.
    When a new sound clip is activated, I want the current swf
    file to stop and the correscponding swf file # to load.

    I understand this is quite old topic but the question is actual for a lot of developers.
    The problem is that Flash ActiveX doesn't contain a method that plays movie from any source except file path or URL.
    So there are two approaches are possible:
    1. Emulate file by creating a fake file that provides data from your array. You may BoxedApp SDK for that, look here: BoxedApp SDK Features
    2. Use special .net component that provides this feature: http://f-in-box.com/dotnet/

  • Gradually slow down a clip?

    I want to slow down a clip from 100% to 0% speed, like using pitch blender in sound.
    Actually to match a slowed sound.  Is there a way please?  So far I only know how to
    razor the clip and slow it down in tiny segments, but that seems kinda rough.

    Click on the clip and then go up to the Effect Controls panel and keyframe the Time Remapping effect from 100% to 0%.
    Although as you approach 0% the clip can get pretty long so you will want to drop to zero in a big jump part way along.

  • Slow loading and slow scrolling webpages.

    The pages in safari and Firefox are loading and scrolling down and up very slow, this was not like this yesterday or ever before, why is this?

    Check Activity Monitor (located in Applications -> Utilities) to see what other processes are using up the cpu. If both browsers are slow, it sounds like something else is using the cpu.

  • Play sound clip as background music while other animation continues? (InDesignCS5)

    BACKGROUND: I'm creating an invitaion with simple animation in InDesignCS5 that will be exported as a swf and html file to be played on the web.
    I've inserted an MP3 file that "plays on page load."  I've got several other items (text) animated that also "plays on page load" but the timing panel has them in a certain order. I've placed the MP3 file on the top of the timing list, as I want it to start first.
    PROBLEM: The sound clip plays all the way through before allowing the other animations to start.
    I tried to group the sound clip with other animations in timing panel (using "play together"), but that ruins the order for everything else.
    I tried to "Loop" the sound to see what happens, and on the second time it plays, the rest of the animation occurs... just like I wanted.....But not until it starts to loop the sound, which I don't want to do.
    Any suggestions for having the sound play as background music to my entire swf file?

    Hello there,
    in order for a sound to play together with other animations you need to put the sound on top of the sequence AND group all animations together with the sound. You can then add delays to the animations if you want them to display in a sequence and not at the same time. If you need more than a single sequence (eg. two audio files speaking in the same slide) you can then add another separate group of audio+animations.
