Sms messaging not working on iPhone 6

I Have iPhone 6 + with iOS of 8.0.2.  It seems that I am having trouble sending and receiving certain text messages. I believe they are SMS text messages. Help!

Hey Loey814,
Thanks for the question. I understand that you are experiencing issues sending SMS messages on your iPhone 6 Plus. The following resource may provide a solution. I have highlighted the initial troubleshooting steps, but be sure to check out the full article for additional advanced steps:

  • Delayed sending of SMS message not working

My Curve has an option to delay the sending of SMS messages found by clicking the menu key in a new SMS message and "OPTIONS" it has an option for "delivery period" with choices of "immediate, 15 mins, 30 mins, and so on" but when I select a delay, it sends the message as soon as I hit send? Does anyone know how to work this feature? I can't find anything about it in the manual.....
    Thanks

That's unfortunate. However, without more information, there's probably not going to be much anyone here can suggest. Try contacting your carrier and making sure your account is properly provisioned.

  • Messages not working since iPhone 5 upgrade

I recently upgraded to an iPhone 5 and Messages has stopped working.  I get some messages through my Mac, and others I don't.  When I send a message through Messages, it isn't reflected on my iPhone 5.  Any suggestions?

    From the menu bar, select
               ▹ About This Mac
Below the "OS X" legend in the window that opens, the OS version appears. Click the version line twice to display the serial number. If the number is missing or invalid according to this web form, take the machine to an Apple Store or other authorized service center to have the problem corrected.

  • Why can I not send a SMS message to a non iPhone when MMS is turned off?

Why can I not send a SMS message to a non iPhone when MMS is turned off? I'm getting charged an MMS every time I send a text to a non iPhone so have turned off MMS. Have tried all sorts of work arounds include rests etc. Anybody any ideas?

Both of those are carrier features, contact your cell phone provider and ask them why.

My daughter does not have an iPhone. I just got the IPhone4S. When she receives messages from me they must be downloaded for her to read them. How do I send her plain SMS messages to a non iPhone recipient?

Well, it could have to do with her phone, however does she have any difficulty in receiving SMS from others? You may want to check how you have iMessage set up. Go to Settings>Messages>Receive at>Make sure your telephone number is listed there, then go to Caller ID, and make sure your phone number is the one with the checkmark by it. You may be sending messages with your email address as the header and if that is so, it may be requiring her to download it as data. See if that helps.

  • SMS not working on iPhone 5s

SMS is not working on my new I phone 5s

Well, what happens when you try and SMS? What makes you think that it is nor working? What troubleshooting have you tried? If this is SMS and not iMessage, SMS is a carrier function, have you checked with your carrier?
Without knowing more information, it could be anything wrong.

  • Text Messaging Not Working

    Salient points:
I'm using a brand new Droid Pro. This phone was provided by ProtectCell after my two-month-old phone experienced a cracked display. It is new, not factory refurbished. My service was working perfectly on my imperfect other phone. (Texts were being received and sent with no problems, it was reading them that was a problem, due to the faulty display.) I took the new phone to the Verizon Wireless store to have it activated and my contacts transferred. I have not been able to send or receive text messages on the new phone. I tried restarting the phone, then removing the battery, and when those didn't work I called customer service and was told there were no network issues in the area, and that my plan correctly showed unlimited texting. They were unable to transfer me to Technical Support because I had no other device on which to speak while troubleshooting. I was advised to try *228 in case of a programming error. That didn't work. I have made sure that my phone is running the most recent updates. I've even downloaded Handcent in case it was an issue with the included software, but it seems SMS is not working at all on this phone. I've verified that people are unable to send text messages to me, and that I am still able to call out and receive calls, so I know that the SMS is the only affected service. I don't know what else to try, or what I have missed, or if my wonderful new replacement phone is faulty out of the gate. Please help, before I tear out my hair.

Lothruin, I am sorry your text messaging isn't working. I understand how frustrating this is and would like to assist you as best as I can. From  your post, I show you have performed a lot of the trouble shooting steps we would have performed. The last step would be to ensure your provisioned correctly on  your account for text messaging. This will involve speaking with you on an alternate phone. YOu may send me a private message with your name a alternate contact number to discuss and trouble-shoot your issue in more detail.

  • IOS Group Messaging not working when Android phones are involved

Group Messaging not working for me when there are both Iphones and Androids involved. iPhones still using iOS 7 don't seem to be having problems leading me to believe this is an iOS 8 problem. Is there a workaround for this yet, or is this a legitimate bug fix that Apple will have to address?

    Hey geoff_zen,
Thanks for the question. After reviewing your post, it sounds like you arr having trouble with group messages. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you resolve or isolate the issue.
    iOS: Troubleshooting Messages
To resolve issues with sending and receiving iMessages, follow these steps
Check iMessage system status for current service issues.
Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive and make sure that you registered iMessage with your phone number or Apple ID and that you selected iMessage for use. If the phone number or Apple ID isn't available for use, troubleshoot iMessage registration.
Open Safari and navigate to www.apple.com to verify data connectivity. If a data connection isn't available, troubleshoot cellular data or a Wi-Fi connection.
iMessage over cellular data might not be available while you're on a call. Only 3G and faster GSM networks support simultaneous data and voice calls. Learn which network your phone supports. If your network doesn't support simultaneous data and voice calls, go to Settings > Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi on to use iMessage while you're on a call.
    Restart your device.
Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings on your iPhone.
If you still can't send or receive an iMessage, follow these steps
Make sure that the contact trying to message you isn't blocked in Settings > Messages > Blocked.
Make sure that the contact you're trying to send a message to is registered with iMessage.
If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, back up or forward important messages and delete your current messaging threads with the contact. Create a new message to the contact and try again.
If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, delete and recreate the contact in the Contacts app. Create a new message to the newly created contact and try again.
Back up and restore your device as new.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    Have a nice day,
    Mario

  • Droid Razr Maxx HD Data & SMS does NOT work in South Korea

If you are going to South Korea this phone only operates as a "dumb phone" for phone calls ONLY. Data & SMS does not work at all. I contacted Global Support daily for one week with no resolution! I received conflicting information with 2 support folks telling me that the fix was to do a factory reset. So I reluctantly did this and it did not fix anything. It only wasted my time especially re-installing all my apps, etc. Then 4 support folks told me that you should never do this out of the country!! Anyway the last person i spoke to which was a network technician was very honest. He told me that I was "SOL" and he had no idea how to fix this problem. He said that he would have to get some teams together to try to fix the problem. And I was told that I would receive an email with an update. And of course I have not received any email of correspondence from Verizon. Very frustrating...

I found a solution. Okay so with the most recent update Verizon made the switch from sending text messages over their 1x network and moved them to their LTE (and possibly 3g) network, hence the reason they are sending so much faster. Today I was in a classroom that is underground and has terrible reception and noticed that I was getting delivery reports again but that my texts were sending slower, like they used to. I dug around in the phones programing menu and found a new option call "MO SMS over IMS" and it was enabled. Disabling it switches your texts back onto the old 1x network. So if you choose to make the switch, your delivery reports will come back but sending will go back to being a little slower. To get to this menu open up your dialer and type in ##7764726. Next hit send and when prompted with a password type in 000000 and hit verify. Scroll down to SMS/MMS settings and select it. Next scroll to the bottom, select "MO SMS over IMS", and disable it. Now your good delivery reports back!

  • Hand off not working on iPhone 5

hand off not working between iPhone and iPad Air.
Any suggestion. both using same iCloud ID's
    thanks

    Hi there SZkiyani,
You may need to verify that Bluetooth is enabled on the devices as well. Take a look at the aritlce below for more information.
Connect your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch using Continuity
Use Handoff with Apple apps such as Mail, Safari, Pages, Numbers, Keynote, Maps, Messages, Reminders, Calendar, Contacts. You can also use Handoff with some third-party apps. Start a document, email, or message on one device and pick up where you left off on another device.
    To use Handoff:
On both devices, you'll need to turn on Bluetooth and sign in to the same iCloud account.
Use one of the apps listed above on one of your devices.
