Soap binding in wsdl and weblogic workshop

Dear newsgroup,
I'm trying to develop a webservice with workshop 8.1. In my case, I already have
a "WSDL" file for the service I want to develop.
So I created a "Schema Project", imported the wsdl file in it (workshop automatically
compiled it !!) and generated a webservice from it. I then created a webservice
project and moved the generated "jws" file in the webservice project.
So far with no problem.
Now I opened the "jws" file and saw there is this error:
"ERROR: The binding for <Op name> does not declare one part"
"SUGGESTION: A document literal binding must have at most one part. Make sure
you have a WSDL that declares just one part for each message with a document literal
binding."
Indeed my wsdl has messages with more than one part. It looks like this:
<wsdl:message name="SubmitSMSIn">
<wsdl:part name="GNSHeaderHeader" element="fwk:GNSHeader">
</wsdl:part>
<wsdl:part name="GNSCredentialsHeader" element="fwk:GNSCredentials">
</wsdl:part>
<wsdl:part name="SubmitSMSRequestBody" element="sms:SubmitSMSRequest">
</wsdl:part>
</wsdl:message>
And corresponding binding looks like this:
<wsdl:binding name="smsBinding" type="smsPortType">
<soap:binding style="document" transport="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/http"
/>
<wsdl:operation name="SubmitSMS">
<soap:operation style="document" soapAction="http://vodafone.net/ns/gns/sms/SubmitSMS">
</soap:operation>
<wsdl:input name="SubmitSMSInput">
<soap:body use="literal" parts="SubmitSMSRequestBody">
</soap:body>
<soap:header use="literal" message="SubmitSMSIn" part="GNSHeaderHeader"
wsdl:required="true">
</soap:header>
<soap:header use="literal" message="SubmitSMSIn" part="GNSCredentialsHeader"
wsdl:required="true">
</soap:header>
</wsdl:input>
<wsdl:output name="SubmitSMSOutput">
<soap:body use="literal" parts="SubmitSMSResponseBody">
</soap:body>
</wsdl:output>
</wsdl:operation>
</wsdl:binding>
MY QUESTION: Is this a workshop webservice limitation? I thought after reading
wsdl specification,(URL: http://www.w3.org/TR/wsdl.html#_soap-b, example 3), that
this should be possible.
What am I doing wrong.
Thanks for any help.

Hi Asit,
Personally, I find dealing with the WSDL/SOAP language a humbling
experience and welcome the day that their syntax is completely buried
with the use of tools; to that end, I would recommend that you use the
WS-I test tools to validate/confirm all of the Rxxx issues.

Hi Bruce,
Yes, you are right. "R2210" indeed does say that. Interestingly, it starts like
this:
"If a document-literal binding in a DESCRIPTION does not specify the parts attribute
on a soapbind:body element, the corresponding abstract wsdl:message MUST define
zero or one wsdl:parts."
Please NOTE the "if" part of the recommendation. As I understand, it is saying
when "parts" attribute is not specified in "soapbind:body" element then corresponding
"wsdl:message" is required to define zero or one "wsdl:parts".
In my original wsdl file example, I do have "parts" attribute specified for the
"soapbind:body" element. To me that that should be valid. What do you say.
Sincerely,
Asit Bhattacharya.

Hi Asit,
R2210 says: ...wsdl:message MUST define zero or one wsdl:parts.
I might suggest that you try your WSDL with the WS-I test tools. They
have a mode to consume and analyze WSDL that will give you a detailed
response correlated with the basic profile.

Hi Bruce,
Thanks for your reply,
WS-I Basic Profile "R2201" says the following:
"A document-literal binding in a DESCRIPTION MUST, in each of its soapbind:body
element(s), have at most one part listed in the parts attribute, ifthe parts
attribute is specified."
It does not restrict a meesage (that is used in doc/lit soap binding)to have
multiple parts. If you look in my example wsdl (specially the soap:bindingportion),
you'll see I'm only using one part for soap:body binding.
Could you please explain why do you think that the SUGGESTION is valid?
Thanks for your help.

  • MS-SOAP Toolkit 2, certificates and Weblogic

    Hi,
    I am trying to work with the Microsoft Toolkit 2 SP 2, client certificates and Weblogic
    6.1.
    It does not work, I know that the problem is with the Toolkit,
    it doesn't agree to work with Weblogic, but maybe someone
    in this forum know how to solve it.
    So, if someone knows how to solve it, please let me know ASAP.
    THANKS,
    Tal.

    To work with Microsoft MS SOAP Toolkit, you should use either RPC/encoded or document/literal.
    Even if RPC/literal is WS-I compliant and is now supported by the .NET 3.0 version of the framework, it's not supported for older releases.
    Best,

  • Log4j and weblogic workshop server 8.1 ?

    Can someone please point out how to setup log4j in weblogic 8.1? I put the log4j.jar file in my server classpath, and in the server startup script I put -Dlog4j.configuration=/path/to/log4.properties in the JAVA_OPTIONS. I can't still get log messages to show in the console. log4j.properties content is:
    log4j.rootCategory=DEBUG, stdout
    log4j.appender.stdout=org.apache.log4j.ConsoleAppender
    log4j.appender.stdout.layout=org.apache.log4j.PatternLayout
    log4j.appender.stdout.layout.ConversionPattern=%d [%t] %-5p %c{2} %x - %m%n
    In my code, I use the org.apache.log4j.Category class to log messages. For example, static Category cat = Category.getInstance(MyClass.class);
    cat.debug("a message");
    Is there something I'm doing wrong?
    Thanks.
    gtata

    In my setDomainEnv.cmd script which should be located where your workshop domain is installed, I did the following:
    # Commented out the following line
    @REM set JAVA_PROPERTIES=%JAVA_PROPERTIES% -Dlog4j.configuration=file:%LOG4J_CONFIG_FILE% %CLUSTER_PROPERTIES%
    # Set a variable LOG4J_PROPS_FILE to point to the location where my
    # log4j properties file is located. NOTE: Full Path required
    set LOG4J_PROPS_FILE=/bea/user_projects/domains/workshop/log4j.properties
    # Updated my JAVA_PROPERTIES variable to look like the following:
    set JAVA_PROPERTIES=%JAVA_PROPERTIES% -Dlog4j.configuration=file:%LOG4J_PROPS_FILE% %CLUSTER_PROPERTIES%
    Originally, I had everything setup correctly except for my JAVA_PROPERTIES. Note that the option
    -Dlog4j.configuration=file:%LOG4J_PROPS_FILE% %CLUSTER_PROPERTIES% has the word "file:" in it.
    What I had that was not working was -Dlog4j.configuration=%LOG4J_PROPS_FILE% %CLUSTER_PROPERTIES%
    so I added the file: infront of the LOG4J_PROPS_FILE variable.
    Hope this helps.

  • BMT Entity Bean creation and Weblogic Workshop 8.1

    I've looked everywhere I could to find information and an example on how to create a BMP entity bean using Workshop 8.1. Can someone please point me to an example or instructions on how to create this bean? I know how to do it outside of workshop, but there appears to be no option in workshop to specify that my entity bean is BMP and not CMP.
    Thanks,
    Daryl

    Hi Simon,
    Are you referring to a 8.1 JWS Web Service ? If yes, unfortunately you cannot deploy this to WLS 9.1. You will need to wait for the 9.2 release and upgrade the web service to use the new JSR-181 annotations and then deploy. The upgrade tool will however take care of all the details associated with the upgrade.
    It would be great if you could test the Workshop 9.2 Beta release to confirm if your service upgrade goes through fine.
    Cheers

  • WSDL with SOAP Binding and Attachement

    Hello
    I'm trying to define a WSDL-Definition which defines a operation called getFile() which returns a file as a SOAP attachement. I created the follwing file which I can verify without any problems. However if I try to compile it with wscompile (wscompile -gen:server -mapping build/mapping.xml -d build -nd build -classpath . config.xml) I get the follwing error:
    error: output message of binding operation "getFile" does not have a SOAP body extension
    When I remove the line
    <soap:binding transport="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/http" style="rpc"/>
    wscompile generates the classes but gives the following warnings:
    warning: ignoring port "FileDistributorIFPort": not a SOAP port
    warning: Service "FileDistributorService" does not contain any usable ports
    Which is somehow clear because I did not define the soap binding.

    Not very sure, but i suspect that there is an error here in your WSDL :
    <mime:multipartRelated>
    <mime:part>
    <soap:body parts="body" use="literal"/>
    </mime:part>
    <mime:part>
    <mime:content part="file" type="tns:ArrayOfBinary"/>The type attribute should be a valid Mime Type.
    Quoting from the WSDL Specification
    The type attribute contains the MIME type string. A type value has two portions, separated by a slash (/), either of which may be a wildcard (*). Not specifying the type attribute indicates that all MIME types are acceptable.
    Why not try the following instead of the last line above
    <mime:content part="file" type="*/*"/>

    Sanjeev,
    The exception you mentioned about changing the namespace should not cause
    the behavior that you are noticing.
    The exception that you are receiving states that your ColdFusion application
    is not able to access the Workshop Web Service.
    Are both coldfusion and Workshop on the same physical machine ?
    If they are not on the same machine.
    Are you able to access the wsdl via a browser from the machine on which
    coldfusion installed ?
    The wsdl has an service name tag
    - <port name="SimpleTestSoap" binding="s0:SimpleTestSoap">
    <soap:address location=http://localhost:7001/Raj/SimpleTest.jws />
    </port>
    This address location is be default the machine on which this Web Service is
    built, and this defaults to localhost:7001.
    This entry can be modified by editing the weblogic-jws-config.xml file found
    in the WEB-INF/lib folder of the project.
    Can you make sure that address location contains the correct address and
    also check to see if the Web Service is available via any browser.
    Hope this help.

  • Difference in generated WSDL between Weblogic 10.3.3 and JBoss 5.1

    Hi all,
    We have developed an web service based application using JAX-WS with WS-Security enabled in it. We followed below link for the implementation of WS-Security,
    [http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/java/library/j-jws10/index.html]
    And we have deployed the application in JBoss 5.1, tested it using SOAP UI passing the request to the Core application. We got the expected result.
    When I try to deploy the application in weblogic 10.3.3, it is getting deployed and we are unable to pass the user credentials to it and hence the core application rejects the request since the username/password is not supplied.
    I want to know how the web service application with WS-Security enabled can be deploy in Weblogic 10.3.3? Any documentation would be a great help.
    And also we found that the creation of WSDL from JBoss 5.1 & Weblogic differ. We have used a WS-policy also into this, the WSDL generated by JBoss contains the information of the WS-policy we added.
    But the generated WSDL from Weblogic 10.3.3 is missing those information!
    Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
    Only difference I see between the two generated WSDL is that,
    For Weblogic,  RI's version is Oracle JAX-WS 2.1.5.
    For JBoss 5.1, it is, RI's version is JAX-WS RI 2.2.3-b01-
    Will this have an impact on the generated WSDL?
    Generated WSDL from JBoss:

    Sadly you're correct about the previous developers not fully using the skinning framework. Some of it has been done correctly using a skin - such as the icon shown when required=true has been set (.AFRequiredIconStyle). Unfortunately the label width is being set from our custom CSS file, rather than from a skin. It looks like I'll have to remove our custom CSS and try to recreate the appearance using the skin from scratch.

  • How to open a wsdl file in Weblogic Workshop 10.3? Cannot seem to do so!

    Hello, I'm new to Weblogic Workshop 10.3 & will be working with learning how to develop and use webservices using the application. I have a WSDL file which i want to use in a project but cannot seem to import or use the file as required.
    If I click on "File -> New -> Service Control ->" I get the option to "Select the WSDL file to use" however I cannot find any WSDL files I copy into my workbench folder. Even if I close the project, close workshop, re-open workshop, reopen a project the WSDL file are not available to choose.
    Does anyone know what I may be doing wrong or how to resolve this issue?
    Any help would be appreciated!
    Thanks.

    The Adobe PDF printer is no longer available in Snow Leopard. This is an announce to this fact at the entrance to the Acrobat Macintosh forum. The old methods for doing what you want will not work in Snow Leopard. I recommend you look at Quite Imposing. It can do everything you want and more. Alas, it comes at a price.

    regards,

    Hi Vinod,
    the two web services being called are two different web services (two WSLDs) or one web service but two different operations (one WSDL)?
    In latter case you have to define new partner in your process and assign it to one of the web services calls. Then you will have one more partner also in connectivity map and you have to connect it to new web service application and map it in deployment profile.

  • Weblogic workshop 10gR3 - Very slow in building projects and throwing error

    Hi All. I am working in a portal project with weblogic 10gR3. I am using 4GB RAM machine with Windows XP and Intel Core2 T5600 processor. Whenever I build my set of projects, workshop takes very long time to build the project and at end of it throws "There was an error running some portal verification, not all validation complete". Please let me know anyone else faced the same issue.
    Things tried out by me:
    1. new domain
    2. workshop restart
    3. closing all applications other than workshop to allow more memory space for build process
    but nothing helped me on it. Please let me know if someone aware of the fix.
    regards.

    Edited by: Nanda on Jan 27, 2011 2:37 PM

    Hi Nanda -
    Are there any exceptions in the Error Log view in Eclipse, or in the <workspace>/.metadata/.log file that seem relevant? Also, which version of 10gR3 is this -- 10.3.0 or 10.3.2? You can check via the Help | About... item -- if it says it's Eclipse 3.5.0, then it's WLP 10.3.2; WLP 10.3.0 will say it's Oracle Workshop for WebLogic 10.3.
    How many projects do you have? What types are they? How many artifacts in each (e.g. .portlets, .portal, pageflows, ejbs, etc.)?
    You can also turn off Portal verification for now. Go to Window | Preferences | Validation, then uncheck the WebLogic Portal Validator and WebLogic Portal XML Validator boxes and hit Ok. You won't get warnings in the Problems view about .portals and .portlets, but you can see if it's part of the problem. Another general thing that pops up around performance is interaction with an underlying virus scanner -- if possible, try making sure your real-time virus scanner is skipping your project folders and your BEA_HOME.

  • How to create and use Webservice controls using WSDL in weblogic portal10.3

    Hi All,
    I have WSDL , How to create webservice controls using the WSDL in weblogic portal 10.3 and use those controls to invoke those webservice methods?
    please give me the documents links for this.
    Thanks
    Venkata Sarvabatla

    As far as I remember, Controls can be called only from Pageflows, BackingFiles, Another Control (Like control calling another control) etc. In pageflow we use annotation @Control and give control classname and a varialbe for that. I am pretty sure this annotation may not work from normal java class and in your case a JAVA JSR Class.
    If you installed the samples, refer the samples from WLS: C:\beawlp103\wlserver_10.3\samples\server\examples\src\examples\webservices. They have lot of fully ready to work samples with instructions. I used clientgen ant task. But you can use standard SUN JDK Command "wsimport" also to generate the java files from the WSDL. Open any command prompt. If java is in classpath, just run wsimport and that should give an idea.

  • How to install Workshop for WebLogic and WebLogic Portal?

    Hi All,
    I am new to Weblogic Portal. I would like to start learning Oracle Weblogic Portals..
    Can anyone please guide me, how to install Workshop for WebLogic and WebLogic Portal?
    As per the ""Tutorials – Getting Started with WebLogic Portal"" (http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13155_01/wlp/docs103/tutorials/setup_dev_env.html)
    we need to install the Workshop for WebLogic and WebLogic Portal.
    Please suggest me where should i get the required environments/IDE?
    Thanks,
    Harish.

    Hi Harish
    1. If this is your first time with Weblogic Portal, I would recommend to download the latest Weblogic Portal Software Rel 10.3.2 from this bottom link. Check Accept Radio button, for windows download windows installer. Its about 1 GB file. This software includes Eclipse IDE, Weblogic Server and Weblogic Portal.
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/wlp/index.html
    2. During the installation process, make sure at one point you select Custom mode (NOT default Typical mode). In next following screens you will see all bundles checked EXCEPT for Samples. So make sure you check Samples Check box both under Weblogic Server and Weblogic Portal. Then proceed. This will install full Weblogic Workshop (Eclipse IDE), Weblogic Server and Weblogic Portal. This is the good installation package. Also it will install samples for Portal and Server. If you select all default typical mode, it will NOT install samples. You can install samples later on also, but its good at installation time itself you select custom and check Samples also.
    3. WLP 10.3.2 uses Eclipse IDE. If you are familiar with Eclipse IDE this should be helpful. Otherwise also, its ok.
    4. For learning WLP, in Eclipse IDE, you need to create Portal EAR Project, then Portal Web Project. Inside portal web project create simple jsp hello world portlets and a simple portal.
    5. For Deploying and Testing Portal application you need to create Portal Domain using config wizard. You can see this from Start -> Programs -> Oracle Weblogic Portal shortcut -> Weblogic Server -> Tools -> Configuration Wizard.
    6. You can start Workshop IDE from Start -> Program Files -> Oracle Weblogic Portal ...-> Eclipse For Weblogic 10.3.2
    Here are the links for quick start guide for portal development. Please do refer them.

  • OTN Live Web Services problem, mismatched WSDLs and Soap RPC reply

    I've tried to connect to all those OTN Live Web Services using webMethods and found there might be a mismatched WSDLs and Soap RPC problem in Oracle side. There is a discussion thread of this: http://www.wmusers.com/wmusers/messages/116/904.shtml
    Is there anyone out there encounters the same problem and agree that Oracle should fix this ? Thanks a lot in advance.

    Hi Mike,
    I've just downloads all 5 WSDL and tried each single one of them again. The following are the results of the test.
    Result (OK): this is the success case
    Result (0): this is the "OTN Authentication Failure" and I cannot tell if it works if input is correct.
    Result (1): this is the error I've mentioned in the previous message and I'll give you more details later.
    Result (2): this is the "No Serializer found" exception:
    java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: No Serializer found to serialize a
    'org.w3c.dom.Element' using encoding style 'http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/'.

    -- IOTNHelloWorldPortType
    getAvailableLanguages (1)
    getDefaultHelloWorld (1)
    getHelloWorld (1)
    -- IOTNNewsPortType
    getRss (1)
    Let me explain what happens in error case (1):
    webMethods construct the "targetOutSignature" for the client base on the WSDL.
    After the reply message retrieved, it tries to "conform" (validate) it against the "targetOutSignature".
    Whenever I get this exception, I can open the exception details and actually see that the reply xml has been received but with the error message of "Output parameters do not conform to targetOutputSignature".
    If I manually remove the "targetOutputSignature" from the generated client, so that webMethods won't try to "conform" the reply message against the one described in the original WSDL, it works perfectly.
    I hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any other information I can provide.
    Thanks.
