** SOAP - Receiver CC - Sync - Error - certificate rejected by ChainVerifie

Hi Friends,
In our interface BPM - SOAP call (Sync), in the receiver SOAP CC, we are getting the below error.
SOAP: call failed: iaik.security.ssl.SSLCertificateException: Peer certificate rejected by ChainVerifier
In the SOAP CC, we use HTTP protocol.  In the target URL, it starts with https://...... and soapAction is mentioned.
Previously, this channel was working fine. No issues.
For testing, I copied and pasted the target URL in Internet Explorere, it did not ask any certificate, I am able to execute the wsdl. i.e call the soapAction - sent the request and got the response.
Friends, could you tell me why the above error is coming now ?
Kind regards,
Jegathees P.

Hi,
https service is running?
Check: SMICM -> Services
Also check  with the named SAP note inside.
Cheers,
André

  • SOAP Receiver with HTTPS(without certificate)

    Hi experts
Receiver system not using any certificate.  Without certificate How PI can send message through HTTPS using SOAP.
How to choose HTTPS transport protocol. (Here Target Url have Https://.....)
    Here I am using PI7.1 EHP1.
I configured Receiver SOAP CC as
    Transport protocol as HTTP
    Taget Url https://api-demo.e-xact.com/transaction
It will work? if not how to enable Https in SOAP receiver
but I am getting below error In adapter
Adapter Framework caught exception: iaik.security.ssl.SSLCertificateException: Peer certificate rejected by ChainVerifier
    Thank you
    Srini

    Hi Srini,
The main reasons for this error "Peer certificate rejected..." be appearing are the following:
    1. The correct server certificate could not be present in the TrustedCA keystore view of NWA. Please ensure you have done all the steps described in the URL below:
    Security Configuration at Message Level
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwpi711/helpdata/EN/ea/c91141e109ef6fe10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm
    2. The server certificate chain contains expired certificate. Check for it (that was the cause for other customers as well) and if it's the case renew it or extend the validation.
    3. Some other customers have reported similar problem and mainly the problem was that the certificate chain was not in correct
order. Basically the server certificate chain should be in order Own->Intermedite->Root. To explain in detail, if your server certificate is A which is issued by an intermediate CA B and then B's certificate is issued by the C which is the root CA (having a self signed certificate).
Then your certificate chain contains 3 elements A->B->C. So you need to have the right order of certificate in the chain. If the order is B first followed by A followed by C, then the IAIK library used by PI cannot verify the server as trusted. Please generate the certificate in the right order and then import this certificate in the TrustedCA keystore view and try again. Please take this third steps as the principal one.
    4. If the end point of the SOAP Call(Server) is configured to accept a client certificate(mandatory), then make sure that it is configured correctly in the SOAP channel and it is also within validity period.
(This certificate is the one which is sent to Server for Client authentication)
As a resource, you may need to create a new SSL Server key.
The requirement from SAP SSL client side is that the requested site has to have certificate with CN equal to the requested site.  I mean if I request URL X then the CN must be CN=X.
In other words, the CN of the certificate has to be equal to the URL in the ftp request. This can be the IP address or the full name of the host.
Request the url with the IP of the SSL Server and the certificate to be with CN = IP of the server.
In any other case the SSL communication will not work.

    Caio

  • SOAP Receiver over SSL - server certificate troubles

    Hello all,
I have a scenario with SOAP receiver communication channel with comunnication over SSL. In the URL there is a IP address for a reason I will not mention ... simply there must be IP address in URL and not a host name.
When I access the SOAP server with internet browser it gives me a server certificate with HOST NAME in CN. I placed this certificate to the "trusted container" in J2EEVisAdmin - Key Storage.
Now you might already suspect the trouble: the certificate CN doesn't match with URL. This is obvios error we got many times on the internet (even in e-banking sector .. but we are able to skip it with our internet browsers' possibilities.
Could I set up something in J2EE server as same as in internet browser ???
    Thank you in advance.
    Rgds
    Tom

    Got it,
    SAP Note : 791655
    HTTPS/SSL Properties

    messaging.ssl.securityProvider=iaik.security.provider.IAIK
    messaging.ssl.trustedCACerts.viewName=TrustedCAs
    messaging.ssl.serverNameCheck=false
    Description:
The properties "httpsHandler" and "securityProvider" specify the class names of the HTTPS handler and Security provider used. The AF only supports IAIK. Never change these values! To activate HTTP/SSL, you must install the IAIK libraries on your J2EE Engine as described in the Installation Guide.
The property "trustedCACerts.viewName" defines which J2EE keystore is used during the SSL Handshake for trusted CA certificates. You should never change this value either. With "serverNameCheck" you can specify whether the host name in outbound HTTPS requests should be checked against the host name in the certificate of the server.

  • Soap Receiver adapter - 401 error

I am getting following error with soap receiver,
com.sap.engine.interfaces.messaging.api.exception.MessagingException: SOAP: response message contains an error XIAdapter/HTTP/ADAPTER.HTTP_EXCEPTION - HTTP 401 Unauthorized
I am able to consume the webservice with SOAP UI without any difficulty. I have tried with both the endpoint URL and WSDL url without success. I have tried with/without 'Do not use SOAP envelope'. I am not sure what is wrong. When the message is sent via PI, he is not able to look at the payload (while performing the trace) , while he is able to view the actual soap message with SOAP UI.
When i type the ENDPOINT url in my http address, i get a 'page not found' error.
Any ideas as to what i could be missing?

One more interesting behaviour when I was sending from SOAP UI, The request was posted twice, meaning there were two POST actions in my TCPGATEWAY listening port, while there was only one request via PI.
Wnen my partner put a trace, the SOAP envelop was missing in their TRACE for PI file while the SOAP envelop was available for SOAP ui message (in the second request). Could it have something to do with a fact that we are doing HTTP 1.1with soap uI While PI is HTTP 1.0 (HTTP 1.1 being a persistent connection resulting in second request)
    Trace on the partner side,

  • SOAP Receiver Channel: RW Error

    Hi experts!
I have an error in my SOAP Receiver adapter at RW:
SOAP: response message contains an error XIAdapter/PARSING/ADAPTER.SOAP_EXCEPTION - soap fault: Server was unable to read request. ---> There is an error in XML document (1, 198). ---> Input string was not in a correct format.
How can i know what field is causing the error?
"There is an error in XML document (1, 198)." is not much instructive.
    Regards,
    Daniela

    hi,
try calling the web service from altova or any other tool
and when you succeed use this xml with SOAP adapter
this way you will know for sure that it should work
you can also try to take the xml from SXMB_MONI
that caused the error and process it via altova etc
maybe those tools will display more error info

  • SOAP Receiver Adapter problem (client certificate required)

My Scenario is similar to described in https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/3721. [original link is broken] [original link is broken] [original link is broken] I have two PI servers running on one machine. I am trying to post message HTTPS with Client authentication via SOAP adapter from one PI system to SOAP adapter of other PI server. I have done the following configuration.
PI Server AXD - (Client) - Receiver SOAP adapter
PI Server AXQ - (Server) - Sender SOAP Adapter.
    Steps in AXD
    1. I have created a certificate of AXD in the service_ssl view of key storage.
    2. I have imported the AXQ public certificate in to AXD in the TrustedCAs of Key storage
    Steps in AXQ
    1. I have created a certificate of AXQ in the service_ssl view of key storage.
    2. I have imported the AXD public certificate in to AXQ in the TrustedCAs of Key storage.
    3. I have created a user in AXQ and assigned the certificate of AXD under usermangement in Security provider to this user.
    4. I have added the AXD certificate under Client Authentication tab with require client certificate option checked in the SSL Provider.
    5. I have assigned the user created in AXQ in the step above to the Sender Agreement.
Now when I post message from AXD with Configure Client Authentication checked (Here I have selected the certificate of AXD and view as service_ssl) I am getting the following error.
Exception caught by adapter framework: SOAP: response message contains an error XIServer/UNKNOWN/ADAPTER.JAVA_EXCEPTION - java.security.AccessControlException: client certificate required at com.sap.aii.af.mp.soap.ejb.XISOAPAdapterBean.process(XISOAPAdapterBean.java:884) at com.sap.aii.af.mp.module.ModuleLocalLocalObjectImpl0_3
Any pointer to solve this problem is highly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi Hemant,
I have couple of questions. Why do we need to import certificate for SOAP WS-Security and from where I can get it?
As far as my scenario goes I am not using message level security.
Secondly what do you mean by TRUSTED/WebServiceSecurity? I don't see any such view inside the Key Storage.  I can see a view named just WebServiceSecuity though.
Also I don't have a decentralized adapter installation rather I have two separate PI instances having their own central adapter engine.

  • SOAP Receiver via https - Error:  Invalid SSL message, peer seems to be tal

    Hi,
I have a SOAP Adapter that send a message to a HTTPS WebService.
    I'm having the following error:
Message processing failed. Cause: com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.api.RecoverableException: Invalid SSL message, peer seems to be talking plain!: iaik.security.ssl.SSLException: Invalid SSL message, peer seems to be talking plain!
If I check the URL via Internet Explorer it showme a confirmation dialog with a security Alert, and ask me if I want to continue, then, I can reach the WS with any problem (from de IE).
I checked the steps of this PDF:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/14/ef2940cbf2195de10000000a1550b0/content.htm
and all seems to be right.
Any bode can help me with this problem?
    Thanks

    Hello,
finally you run your request from your ERP System about your ICF.
To establish a SSL Connection to the Web Service target system about an SAP WebAS and ICF, it is necessary to create a certificate on client site about Internet explorer using target URL and importing it on STRUST. Take the junction "SSL-Client (Anonym)" to include your certificate for your system.
Take a reboot of ICM Monitor.
Then create a HTTP Connection to rhe external server via SM59 (Typ G).
Don't forget to configure the following points:
    Under the menu tab Registration&Security:
    - Registration Process: No Registration
    - status of security protocols: activ and ANONYM SSL-Client (Anonym)
In most cases, you don't need to edit your user data.
Mostly only then one can usually connect about SAP XI or PI to some servers with SSL method.

  • SAP PI 7.3 Peer certificate rejected by ChainVerifier

    Hi
We upgraded the PI systems(Dev and Quality) from 7.0 to v7.3 Before the upgrade https scenario was working fine. Important thing is we were not using any certificates to transfer files to our vendor.  All the SOAP receiver adapter with HTTPS url is working fine in production. The production is still with PI 7.0
After basis upgrade the PI system to v7.3  when I send a messaage to the below url with SOAP receiver adapter i see the below error. This is not a webservice interface.
    https://staging.napa-ibiz.com/..........
    The error is:
SOAP: error occured: com.sap.engine.interfaces.messaging.api.exception.MessagingException: iaik.security.ssl.SSLCertificateException: Peer certificate rejected by ChainVerifier
Adapter Framework caught exception: iaik.security.ssl.SSLCertificateException: Peer certificate rejected by ChainVerifier
Delivering the message to the application using connection SOAP_http://sap.com/xi/XI/System failed, due to: com.sap.engine.interfaces.messaging.api.exception.MessagingException: iaik.security.ssl.SSLCertificateException: Peer certificate rejected by ChainVerifier.
The strange part is, after the upgrade it is working fine with one vendor. The SOAP receiver adapter configuration is no different from other scenerios.
We even restarted  the JAVA engine still no luck.
I didn't get answer for my below questions:
    1. When I'm not using any certificates to send files to my vendor, why/how I see the above certificates related error.
    2. If it is really a certificate related error, how i'm able to successfully send to one vendor with the similar SOAP receivier configuration.
    3. Why only after the upgrade i see this error?
Can you please throw some lights on this?
    Thanks,

    >When I'm not using any certificates to send files to my vendor, why/how I see the above certificates related error.
The URL shows that you are using https transport communication. So you might be sharing the certificate or anonymous ssl with different vendors.  PLease go to STRUST and see whether  you have certificates in the keystore for the different vendors. As you production environment behaves different from pre production in terms of security.
    >If it is really a certificate related error, how i'm able to successfully send to one vendor with the similar SOAP receivier configuration
You might share certificate correctly for one vendor and keystore might not have for the other vendors.  This is nothing related to soap receiver channel configuration. Certificates can be maintained either java stack level or abap stack.
    >Why only after the upgrade i see this error?
PI 7.1 and above are 64 bit OS products. There are plenty of changes in the installation and security standards.  Talk to BASIS,

    Hi,
I did all  but nothing changed?
I have doubt about axis side. Because respose like below.
    <SAP:Error xmlns:SAP="http://sap.com/xi/XI/Message/30" xmlns:SOAP="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" SOAP:mustUnderstand="1">
      <SAP:Category>Application</SAP:Category>

      <SAP:Stack />
      <SAP:Retry>M</SAP:Retry>
      </SAP:Error>
May be Soap Receiver setting for axis web service must be different.
    Thanks.

  • Error PI 7.31 RFC-SOAP Certificate Rejected

    Hi Experts,
I'm facing an error last days.
The scenario is, an interface was working fine in DEV, but in QAS stopped.
DEV and QAS has the same configuration, same endpoint, user, etc....
In QAS the error in PI 7.31 was:
com.sap.engine.interfaces.messaging.api.exception.MessagingException: iaik.security.ssl.SSLCertificateException: Peer certificate rejected by ChainVerifier
So, I saw the certificate and it was expired. The server updated the certified.
And now DEV and QAS stopped working, and both return the message above in PI.
The certificate is a auto-signed, and according to the documentation there was no certificate installation in development.
The communication is an RFC to SOAP synchronous.
    Using Proxy, and authentication.
The communication channel was not changed, and they don't have certificate authentication.
I requested de basis team to install the certificate in NWA, but the view does not appeard in the configuration in PI.
So... any idea what's my problem?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    Thanks all for the answers.
I already requested the installation of certificate, but they don't appear in configuration of channel communication on PI:
    the certificate installed:

    Hi Rana,
Check the certificates sequence as well the certificates end dates in STRUST in SAP PI system. if, deployed in NWA level check over there.
One more :: sending the data to web server or web page. make sure, PI is pointing to which server.
