Socket Bind Error: OSX 10.6.8 Server

So I have a server that is just a file share. Never had an issue before. We recently moved it to another location and changed its IP address. Now the logs are filled up with these.
Apr 17 11:41:48 bigmac com.apple.gw_logd[68]: socket bind: Can't assign requested address
Apr 17 11:41:49 bigmac com.apple.gw_datad[69]: socket bind: Can't assign requested address
Apr 17 11:41:49 bigmac com.apple.gw_controld[70]: socket bind: Can't assign requested address
Apr 17 11:41:51 bigmac com.apple.gw_datad[69]: socket bind: Can't assign requested address
Apr 17 11:41:51 bigmac com.apple.gw_controld[70]: socket bind: Can't assign requested address
Apr 17 11:41:53 bigmac com.apple.gw_datad[69]: socket bind: Can't assign requested address
Apr 17 11:41:53 bigmac com.apple.gw_controld[70]: socket bind: Can't assign requested address
Apr 17 11:41:55 bigmac com.apple.gw_datad[69]: socket bind: Can't assign requested address
Apr 17 11:41:55 bigmac com.apple.gw_controld[70]: socket bind: Can't assign requested address
Does anyone know how to fix this or what casues it?

  • Visibroker Bind Error When Using Sun Application Server

    I have a servlet that utilizes Visibroker 3.4 to access CORBA objects. My servlet works fine when using Tomcat; however, when using the Sun Application Server 8.2 PE, the same code does not work. After a few second delay (timout?) then the following exception is thrown.
    org.omg.CORBA.NO_IMPLEMENT:
    Could not locate the following object:
         repository id : IDL:A3Server:1.0
         object name : mobile5A3Server

         A3SessionConnection.connect(A3SessionConnection.java:74)
    Has anyone experienced this and better, found the solution. Interesting fact is that this only occurs when using the .bind(orb(), serverName); call.
    Another servlet packaged in the same .war file receives an IOR and is able to successfully access the CORBA object using orb().string_to_object(serverIOR); with both Tomcat and Sun Application Server.
    Thanks for the help.

    Please list the content of 'asadminenv.conf'
    Alternatively, you could just manually create the instance as follows:
    asadmin.bat create-domain user admin adminport 4849 domaindir C:\Sun\AppServer\domains instanceport 8080 domain1

  • Server Socket Binding

    We use a ServerSocket Listening on port 162 to receive Traps from a Remote agent. If the application is launched on a multi-homed system (system with Multiple IP Addresses), which IP Address does the socket bind to ?
    Is it the case that the Socket binds to a port and not to a IP and hence IP to which it is bound does not matter at all?
    Kindly respond

    We use a ServerSocket Listening on port 162 to receive
    Traps from a Remote agent. If the application is
    launched on a multi-homed system (system with Multiple
    IP Addresses), which IP Address does the socket bind
    to ?It depends of the ServerSocket constructor you use. If you only say:
    ServerSocket ss = new ServerSocket( port );it will bind every IP address your machine has. However, if you use:
    ServerSocket ss = new ServerSocket(port, backlog, bindAddr) ;Your server socket will be bound to the InetAddress object bindAddr (the IP you need to be bounded to).

    All,

    If you restart, it works fine for 1-2 days. Then again crash happens.
    Any ideas ..?

    I've had similar issues due to insufficient memory on HP-UX. Probably best to raise a support log with oracle.

  • OSX 10.4.9 Server, strange errors

    I have a server setup with correct permissions with ACL.
    Everything seems to be working fine, however multiple computers in the department keep turning up with read only permissions. I will check the permissions on the server, they will be 100% correct, I then re-propagate permissions. Same problem. The problem only goes away when I reboot the client machine. Disconnecting from the server and re logging in does not work. I have to reboot. After I reboot I get permissions the server was set up for. I have also tried repairing permissions on client machines. Has anybody else had this problem? Does anyone know why this is happening? Thank you!

    Hi and welcome to the forums!
    Is this OSX Server, or OSX Clint as a Server? (there is a Sever area with perhaps more expertise on that end... http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=96 )
    What Machines & OSes are these?

    You have to upgrade your JAXB library in the rt.jar (located in the <JDK-HOME>/jre/lib directory).
    Steps are presented here: http://jaxb.java.net/guide/Migrating_JAXB_2_0_applications_to_JavaSE_6.html section 7.1.2
    Also note the line "newer releases (since update 4) of JavaSE 6 contain JAXB 2.1" in section 7.1.2. If this is an option for
    you I would upgrade your JDK.

  • Socket Connection Error

    Hi,
    I m facing some strange issues in a java file. The requirement is something like, i need to process some business operation , connect to a third party vendor and they need to process some operation in 10 secs and they reverted back with the result. The whole process should complete in 15 secs.
    So for the first time while connection to the third party it is working fine, but for the second time it fails and showing connection failed in the UI. When i retires it is successfully connects. i checked the log file, there it is throwing exceptions some of the time. Please find the piece of code below. From the third party there is no issues from them , all the operations sucessfully done from their side..
    try {
    // open socket connection
    socket = openSocketConnection(host, port, connectTimeOut, responseTimeout);
    if(socket.isConnected()){
    // some steps of business processing.....
    // write request
    // read response
    // set pipeline
    // set error status
    catch(SocketTimeoutException ste){}
    catch (UnknownHostException uhe) {}
    catch (SocketException soe) {}
    catch (Exception e) { }
    finally {
    try {
    if (socket != null)socket.close();
    } catch (Exception e) { }
    // method for connecting the server....
    openSocketConnection(String host, int port, int connectTimeOut, int responseTimeout) throws SocketTimeoutException, ServiceException,IOException {
    Socket socket = null;
    socket = new Socket();
    socket.bind(null);
    socket.connect(new InetSocketAddress(host,port),connectTimeOut);
    if (socket.isConnected()) {
                   socket.setSoTimeout(responseTimeout);
    } else {
         throw new ServiceException("Error opening socket connection to Third party Vendor.");<------- mostly in second time throwing exception, but when retires working fine...
    return socket;
    Can anyone please help me out for this.

    Remove the isConnected() test and associated code: it's contributing nothing here. If the socket itself throws an exception then you have a problem. At the moment all you have is a self-inflicted wound.
    You can also remove the bind(null) call.

  • Socket read error: connection reset by peer

    Hi.
    Has anybody experienced the error message Socket read error: connection reset by peer
    Please see below for detailed information.
    Appreciate your help
    Regards
    RT
    Enviroment specification
    Server: HP/UX 11.00 64-bit, Oracle RDBMS 8.1.6.0.0 64-bit
    2 firewalls between client and db.
    Client:
    Win 2000,
    SP3,
    Oracle Client 8.1.7.0.0 ,JDBC OCI (thin JDBC driver,class12.zip)
    JDK 1.3
    JRUN3.0
    The TCP protocol is being used in the communication
    Error messages
    Web Users receive:           Socket read error: connection reset by peer
    Trace files on the sever:      Read unexpected EOF ERROR on 18.
    Explanation: The error in the server sqlnet trace file, suggests that a client connection has terminated abnormally, i.e. client machine powered off, a cable removed or a network connection aborted without warning. No user has complained of such a problem and there is no client trace with an error.
    The problem
    The users of the java web application, experiencing an exception almost once or twice a day.
    The JRUN web-server reports broken connections to the db and client are receiving "connection reset by peer".
    At the moment when the errors occurs the users just have to wait a while(2-10 min) and then they can use the web application again.(no action is taken)
    This problem can not be reproduced. The problem happens only occasionally when the network is under heavy load and new DB connection is being created.
    The application
    The java web-application uses a customized connection pooling against the database. This pool is shared among all the users of the website. whenever a user process needs to fetch data from the database, a free connection from this pool is allocated. The application is testing if the connection is valid before making a transaction (select '1' from dual). When the error occurs a ORA-3113 end-of-file on communication channel is returned to the application.
    The path between the client and db involves at least two firewalls. The firewalls are opened for sql*net traffic. The network group can tell that enquiries from the app.server is not getting feedback from the db. They have not however, identified if the enquiries are reaching the db-srever, or if they are stopped earlier in the network.
    Around 1000 users, are using other applications which uses dedicated sqlnet connections against the db and they have not experienced any problems.
    Issues considered
    Connection pooling
    It is a customized connection pooling, developed by Lindorff developers.
    I have read through the source code for the connection pooling and it does the job as it should, and in case of bad connection, it tries to create a new connection.
    The log file shows that the call to the method DriverManager.getConnection() hangs until the server goes down, which is probably because of the fact that the method DriverManager.setLoginTimeout(), does not take effect and timeout value is Zero. ( According to oracle , Oracle JDBC does not support login timeouts and calling the static DriverManager.setLoginTimeout() method will have no effect).
    Firewall
    One thing to consider is when the firewall may decide to shut down the socket due to long inactivity of a connection. This will cause problems to JDBC Connection Pool because the pool is not aware of this disconnection at the TCP/IP level; until someone checks out the connection from the pool and tries to use it. The user will get a Socket read error: connection reset by peer.
    Jrun timeout paramter is less than the firewalls timeout so the firewall will not close a connection before Jrun does.
    Number of processes the DB can handle
    Processes parameter is 1300, , they have not experienced the Oracle error msg max # of processes reached.
    Port redirection through a firewall:
    Since the firewall has a sql net proxy Port redirection through a firewall is not a problem. Problems with port redirection only appear at connect time, but in this situation the connections fail long after the connection is established.
    The network group
    The network people who investigaged the problem at Lindorff report that there are a significant amount of "dropped packages" between the database server and the jdbc client (web-application) 24 hrs. The reason for this is "unknown established TCP packet" which means that the firewall does not consider these packages to be part of an already established session. The network group believes this happen because one of the hosts send a RESET or FIN signal which the firewall have noticed but are not received by the other host.
    It seems like the firewall are dropping packages bacause of "Unknown
    established TCP packet" from both the JDBC client and the TNSLISTENER on the database server. The dropped packages are SQL*Net v2 traffic so clearly Oracle products are involved

    Presumably something is working.
    Thus the problem is not with your code. At least not the database part that you have control over.
    That error occurs when the other side closes the socket. Presumably you are catching lost connection exceptions and trying to restore it.

  • WSIF Binding Error while invoking HTTP Service

    Hi,
    I am getting a WSIF binding error when invoking an HTTP service. I was able to successfully invoke another HTTP service on the same server. However, while invoking some of the others services, we are getting errors. The wsdl binding declaration is:
    <binding name="JACADACustMaintBinding" type="tns:JACADACustMaintPortType">
    <http:binding verb="POST"/>
    <operation name="PostData">
    <http:operation location="/custmaint.cfg"/>
    <input>
    <mime:mimeXml part="CustMaintInput"/>
    <mime:content type="text/xml"/>
    </input>
    <output>
    <mime:mimeXml part="CustMaintOutput"/>
    <mime:content type="text/xml"/>
    </output>
    </operation>
    </binding>
    The error we are getting is as follows:

    Hi,
    Using the exact same wsdl i was able to get a response from the HTTP service using OSB. I created a business service targeting this wsdl. Then created a proxy service to route the xml to the business service.
    I was able to successfully invoke and get response from the HTTP service without making any change to the wsdl.
    Could this be a bug in BPEL PM? Should I raise an SR?

  • Binding Error when creating a new publication

    Hi i am fairly new to replication.
    My situation is that I dropped replication using the script that was generated from the publication.
    When I go through the publication wizard I get a error message on the first page
    'New publication Wizard encountered one or more errors while retrieving the list of databases on "my computer"
    Invaliud object name 'Tracker_Repl.dbo.MSreplication_Subscriptions'
    Could not use view or function 'dbo.MSreplication_Subscriptions'becasue of binding errors.
    I can not find this subscription and there is nothing in the system file tables.
    When you expand the Local subscriptions I get the same error message.
    How do I go about fixing this?
    Regards

    Something I messed up here. You should run a sp_removedbreplication from the publication database before doing what Samir suggest. What Samir suggests will work, but it will break any existing publications which may be ok, and may be a very bad thing to
    do.

    First thing to check is that each cluster has its own multicast address.
    It looks like the server is complaining that multiple clusters are using

  • Report data binding error with date values

    I have CF7.02 with a Microsoft Visual FoxPro 9.0 SP1 Database
    that I connect to using ODBC (FoxPro Driver 6.01.8630.01). I send
    my sql results to a CF Report Builder 7.02 PDF report and it works
    fine. If I dump the date values before I change them, they look
    like the following: {ts '2004-12-20 00:00:00'} . However I have
    tried a number of ways of manipulating the date before sending it
    to the report, but I continue to get errors. I don't care what
    format they go to the report in, since the report reformats them
    anyway. I checked to make sure that none of the dates were null.
    For example <cfset ReportQuery.PrcInputDate[lcCurRow] =
    CreateODBCDateTime(#ldCFPrcInputDate#) /> yields values in the
    {ts '2004-12-20 00:00:00'} format when I dump the query results to
    screen. Where:
    ldCFPrcInputDate = 12/20/2004
    CreateODBCDateTime(ldCFPrcInputDate) = {ts '2004-12-20
    00:00:00'}
    ReportQuery.PrcInputDate[lcCurRow] = {ts '2004-12-20
    00:00:00'}
    I get the error:
    Report data binding error Unable to get value for field
    'prcinputdate' of class 'java.util.Date'.
    coldfusion.runtime.OleDateTime -> Date
    Not using the CreateODBCDate function for example <cfset
    ReportQuery.PrcInputDate[lcCurRow] = #ldCFPrcInputDate# /> I
    get:
    Report data binding error Unable to get value for field
    'prcinputdate' of class 'java.util.Date'.
    java.lang.String -> Date
    Here are some of my failed attempts:
    <cfset ReportQuery.PrcInputDate[lcCurRow] =
    CreateODBCDateTime(#ldCFPrcInputDate#) />
    <cfset ReportQuery.PrcInputDate[lcCurRow] =
    #ldCFPrcInputDate# />
    <cfset ReportQuery.PrcInputDate[lcCurRow] =
    DateFormat(CreateODBCDate(#ldCFPrcInputDate#),'mm/dd/yyyy') />
    <cfset ReportQuery.PrcInputDate[lcCurRow] =
    CreateODBCDate(DateFormat(#ldCFPrcInputDate#,'mm/dd/yyyy') />
    <cfset ReportQuery.PrcInputDate[lcCurRow] =
    CreateODBCDate(DateFormat(#ldCFPrcInputDate#,'mm-dd-yyyy') />
    <cfset ReportQuery.PrcInputDate[lcCurRow] =
    Trim(createODBCDateTime(ldtmpdate)) />
    <cfset ReportQuery.PrcInputDate[lcCurRow] =
    CreateODBCDate({05-07-2006}) />
    <cfset ReportQuery.PrcInputDate[lcCurRow] =
    CreateODBCDate('{05-07-2006}') />
    <cfset ReportQuery.PrcInputDate[lcCurRow] =
    CreateODBCDate(05/07/2006) />
    <cfset ReportQuery.PrcInputDate[lcCurRow] =
    CreateODBCDate('05/07/2006')/>
    <cfset ReportQuery.PrcInputDate[lcCurRow] =
    CreateODBCDate(parseDateTime('05/07/2006')) />
    <cfset ReportQuery.PrcInputDate[lcCurRow] =
    parseDateTime(CreateODBCDateTime(05/07/2006)) />
    <cfset ReportQuery.PrcInputDate[lcCurRow] =
    parseDateTime(CreateODBCDateTime('#ldCFPrcInputDate#')) />
    <cfset ReportQuery.PrcInputDate[lcCurRow] = '{05-07-2006}'
    />
    <cfset ReportQuery.PrcInputDate[lcCurRow] = '{05/07/2006}'
    />
    <cfset ReportQuery.PrcInputDate[lcCurRow] = '05/07/2006'
    />
    I also did some googling without success. Any help is
    appreciated.

    You may want to make sure that the column is not included in
    the query variable list in your report cfr file.
    The newest version of the Report Builder, which may be
    installed on the server, no longer tolerates vars appearing in that
    list of they are not in the query itselft.
