Solaris Driver Wrong Address Recovery

Hi,
i am developing a solaris driver for a custom made IO card. I have a simple question. I have completed development and provide an entry point for pread in driver. When a legal user space address is passed over pread everything is fine data is read correctly. But when an illegal address buffer is passed to driver, kernel panics and system is restarted.
I handle NULL pointer in driver but how can driver check/recover or just create a segmentation fault without kernel panic when pread is called to read from device to a user space buffer that is NON-NULL illegal address. This problem is applicable for pwrite also by the way?

no actually that is not the case. in my seg_flg is UIO_USERSPACE which is set by system(transfer between user and kernel). no conflict on that. the problem is if user space buffer is an invalid address uiomove panics system.
i guess nothing to do with that. i will have to rewrite my read/write over ioctl entry point and hope that ddi_copyin/out wont panic the kernel. or just live with that weird situation and be careful while calling pread/pwrite on application side :)

I want to format my computer and I start to do that but I fondo a copy of the boot folder on the drive, not the recovery drive. I formated and make it case sensitive jornal with a password. Then I put a password in main too. So the drive the entre drive become my recovery drive.So I have two recovery drive I think.I learn almost all the diskutil comando and I don know how to fin it. The disks are not showing the one with the passwords.

Just wondering if you had any advice for my situation . . .
My time machine backup was backing up to a drive that was "Mac OS X Enteded Journaled, Case Sensitive." I had no idea what this meant, or that it would even cause issues.
I took my computer to the Apple store yesterday, and they wiped it clean. When they tried to restore it from the Time Machine backup drive, it would not work. Their guess is that Time Machine cannot restore from a drive that is "case sensitive."
Any thoughts on how I can convert my time machine backup data from a "case sensitive" state, to a "non-case sensitive" state? I've tried to just drag and drop the files from the case sensitive formatted drive to a new drive that I have that is formatted non case sensitive, but I get the following error message:
"The volume has the wrong case sensitivity for a backup"
I just really want my data back - I thought TimeMachine was the way to go (and was supposed to work) but unfortunately it is not.
Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Verizon Sent My Replacement Router to the Wrong Address; Now Saying They'll Bill Me for It

On Saturday, my cable modem started rebooting spontaneously, every hour or two. When I called Customer Support on Monday, they said it was unsuccessfully trying to install new firmware, and would keep rebooting for the foreseeable future. Customer Support agreed to send me a new modem; I was to get it on Tuesday, 12/10.
When I checked the UPS status site on Tuesday afternoon, it said the cable modem had been delivered to my house at 11 AM on Tuesday. It hadn't, at least not to my address. When I called Verizon, the agent told me they wouldn't send me another one as they'd already sent it to me. When I pressed the point because my home network still wasn't up, the agent told me my only option was to drive 20 miles to a Verizon Fios office and exchange my bad cable modem for a good one. I did that last night (3 hours of my time, $6 in gas). So after four days my home network is back up. That's good.
The bad news is I was told at the Verizon store (and my earlier call) that I would be charged for any unreturned cable modem (my guess is $100). In other words, according to Verizon I have the missing modem ("We sent it to you, sir; and you seem to think it's not your job to track it down. If I were you, I'd find it."), and so will be charged for it. I called UPS this morning, and discovered that they delivered the cable modem to the wrong address -- it went to River ROAD rather than River STREET. They have started an investigation, and if it turns out the cable modem is lost, they will reimburse Verizon. My question is, How do I notify Verizon that UPS lost the modem, so that Verizon should be getting the cost from them, not me? Given the unhelpful nature of the Verizon agents I've dealt with (the common refrain is, "I'm sorry, I can't help you with that, sir"), I know I will be charged for the missing cable modem unless I can figure out who in the Verizon bureaucracy to talk to. Any suggestions?
The funny thing is, several weeks ago I was considering paying Verizon for the 100 Mbps Internet service. Now I'm just trying to figure out how to avoid paying $100 for a cable modem I don't have when I close out my Verizon service and move over to Comcast in the next several weeks. It's going to be a pain to move, but frankly, I have better things to do than deal with "that's not my job" people for hours on end.

Your issue has been escalated to a Verizon agent. Please go to your profile page for the forum, and look in the middle, right at the top where you will find an area titled "My Support Cases". You can reach your profile page by clicking on your name beside your post, or at the top left of this page underneath the title of the board. you will find a link to the private board where you and the agent may exchange information.
To ensure you know when they have responded to you, at the top of your support case there is a drop down menu for support case options. Open that and choose "subscribe".This should be checked on a frequent basis as the agent may be waiting for information from you before they can proceed with any actions. Please keep all correspondence regarding your issue in the private support portal.

Default to wrong address

The Mail system has memorized email addresses that are out of date or that I don't want to use. When I type in a name or group list, it defaults to the wrong address.
In one case I have a group name in my address book that I cannot get it to default to and it consistently goes to one with similar words, but not even in the same order that is set up on another company's lists. This is even though I have not used that address in a year and I use the group from my address book a few times a week. In other instances those I've corresponded with have changed their email addresses, but the system keeps choosing the old one.
How can I delete email addresses I don't want to ever use from "Mail's Memory"?

The Mail.app stores all message recipients in the List of Previous Recipients in Mail.
The Mail.app autofill feature pulls from the Address Book and the list of Previous Recipients in Mail.
At the Mail.app menu bar, go to Window and select Previous Recipients.
A previous recipient already entered in the Address Book will have a vCard icon to the left of the name or email address. You can remove a previous recipient from the list or add a previous recipient to the Address Book that is not already entered.
Removing a previous recipient from the list has no effect on Address Book entries.

Photo book shipped to wrong address...

Hi All: I recently ordered 2 photo books through iPhoto, cost about $120, but they were shipped to the wrong address. I live in NY and they were sent to CA. I called FedEX to complain, but it turns out that Apple put the wrong address on the package. Has anyone else had/heard-of this happening? I'm now waiting for my email from iPhoto support to hear how they will fix this problem, but was curious as to whether or not other occurrences were easily and quickly rectified. Thanks for any info.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

How do you recall a photo sent to wrong address?

I accidently sent using the share feature a photo using iphoto to the wrong address, how do I recall it.

Thanks Larry, I just sent the recepient to just disregard it. I was using the sharing feature and got one letter in the email address wrong. Oh well, no big deal as they will probably just delete as that is what I would do if I recieved.

Mail Contact Resolves to Wrong Address

Hello, I have a user that is sending a message to a email address and something is resolving the email address to the wrong address.
First of all, the email address in question is a mail contact on our system and is in the GAB. The SMTP email address of this mail contact is correct in both AD and the GAB.
Secondly, the users' Outlook has all invalid autocomplete entries removed for this email address. The user
does have the recipient save in his Outlook Contacts but does not have an email address listed there, just his name and phone number.
So, what it looks like is happening is that the user is typing in the correct email address in the TO: field, but when he sends the message something
is resolving to this other email address, an address that is not defined anyway.
Any ideas? Exchange 2010/Outlook 2010

I entered the wrong address in my contacts and now I cannot erase it . When I send an email this wrong addres still appears although it has been erased in my list of contacts..

In my list of contacts I have entered a wrong address. I was able to erase it from that list BUT when I send an email it still appears on the list there and I cannt erase it. What shall I do ?

If you cannot remember your security questions for your Apple ID, I would recommend these steps outlined in the article named:

Use the trackpad to scroll, thats what it was designed for. The scroll bars automatically disappear when not being used and will appear if you scroll up or down using the trackpad.
This is a user-to-user forum and most people will post on here if they have problems. You very rarely get people posting to say there update went smooth. The fact is the vast majority of Mountain Lion users will not be experiencing any major problems with the OS, or maybe with apps which are not compatible, but thats hardly Apple's fault if developers don't update their apps.

Adding new hard drive for Flash recovery area

i am adding new hard drive for flash recovery area. How i can make single directory on that flash recovery area & how i can test that i am accessing that rightly , to that directory & flash back recovery area disk?

Are you on Windows or Unix? And are you using ASM?
I'll assume you are on Windows....So after allocating the drive, you will format it say as F drive. Then you can create a directory T:\Flash. The parameter determining the location of the flash recovery area is db_recovery_file_dest. But you also need to set the size of the flash recovery area as well. After that's done. You can do your backups to Flash and see if the directory is populated.

Look in your Contacts App and see if the unwanted address is entered there. If it is, you can delete it there.

It is not available in Mail any longer (for quite a while, now).
You can add a rule to have Mail mark them as junk, or you could possibly log onto your Email provider's web site and block that address.
