[SOLVED] - Create Boot Media to Retrieve Content from a Specific Distribution Point Regardless of Boundary/Boundary Group?

I think I'm a little confused because maybe I missed something somewhere.
I'd like to create bootable meda that would pull the content from a specific DP no matter where the device was physically.  So if the machine is in Boundary A/B/C within Boundary Group group A/B/C, that media should
always pull from Distribution Point 'F'.
During the task sequence media creation process, on the 'Boot Image' page, you're asked to select a distribution point so I believed that was all I needed to do.  But even though I selected a specific DP, DP F, when creating the media,
during the operating system deployment task sequence, I saw it was pulling the image from another DP; a remote DP for that matter. Imaging over the WAN is not ideal!
I double checked the Boundaries and with the exception of 1 overarching boundary, there were no other overlapping Boundaries.  I then checked the Boundary Groups to confirm the Boundaries were associated with the correct Boundary Group (e.g.: all IP's
at site A are in Boundary Group A) and that the correct site system server had been specified for each Boundary Group.
Why the overarching overlap?  I wanted to cover scenarios where a local DP had not yet been stood up or simply didn't exist.  We frequently stand up several ad-hoc small 'offices' of just 1-3 people with bare-bones infrastructure.  I
wanted them to fall back to HQ if they needed anything versus configuring separate Boundaries for each one as the ranges vary each time.
First question is, am I doing something wrong or is this just not possible?
Second, HQ is a fallback source location for content, and that's where this particular system was pulling content from.  If the DP I specified during the TS Media creation is missing content, how can I confirm this and validate that the client was directed
to the fallback source which is HQ?

That cannot be done. DPs will be determined dynamically. The DP used in the wizard is for downloading the content just for creating the media.

Oh man - thank you for clearing that up.  Sheesh I was thinking about that the wrong way.

    Hi there,
    Some clients are having trouble streaming specific app-v packages from a specific distribution point.

    I have recreated the DP based on the best practice for removing the DP and re-adding, as we've had other app issues which needed tidying up, but that has not fixed this issue.
    I have searched for the above error (The client was unable to connect to an Application Virtualization Server (rc 2460410A-40002EFD) but I get no results.
    Please help me with this, I've deleted the DP content and re distributed the content to the DP with no change.. If I remove the DP, the content is able to be streamed from other DP's no problem.
    Cheers

    It looks as though this may have been sorted out  - A re bind of the computer cert on the DP to the default website https binding seems to have resolved this for me.

  • Retrieving content from JavaScript created web tables?

    I am developing a simple Java program that is to browse a particular site, follow links and download web page content (which is created dynamically based on day and sports selected) from which data enclosed in <table>....</table> tags is later parsed and used in Excel spreadsheet for later analysis.
    The idea is to collect sports betting odds from Internet sportsbooks and of course such content is created dynamically based on day's offer of sports events!
    It can be done when the web tables are created dynamically with ASP or PHP as it basically just feed you the web page with all the data still enclosed in standard HTML tables tags.
    However there are quite a number of sites that use Javascript to create such dynamic tables. SO MY QUESTION IS: IS THERE A WAY TO GATHER SUCH JAVASCRIP CREATED WEB DATA IN JAVA?
    Thanks in advance!

    One more thing occured to me as a possible solution but I don't know if it can be done?
    Those particular JavaScript generated web pages that I'm trying to retrieve contents from display data in html tables created depending on the user input!
    Appart from zillion fancy design functions, those pages create a loooooong string which basically represents html <table>.....</table> structure and all the rows and cells are constructed by calling multiple JavaScript functions and filling those tables with variables contained in arrays located in several *.js files.
    So my idea is, CAN YOU CATCH THAT FINAL GENERATED HTML, that is used to view the web page in a browser?

    DP use by clients is all about your boundaries. Simply adjust your boundary groups so that the good "DP" is referenced in the boundary group defining the boundaries for the alternate location.

  • Create Boot Media/Capture Media - Error -2147217379 (8004101d)

    Hello All,
    I'm trying to regenerate boot media as I've added a new Network driver to my PE environment. Driver added fine, and Boot Image regenerated successfully, on all DP's.
    The problem comes when I try to create updated Capture Media, or Dynamic Boot Media (I would hypothesize standalone boot media would have the same issue).
    It errors out with:

    Note: some info replaced above with obfuscated data,
    I am currently running SCCM 2012 R2 with KB2905002 and KB2910552 applied.
    The last time I generated boot media (capture and dynamic) was shortly after installing 2012R2, and it succeeded without issue. I have not generated boot media since applying both of these hotfixes, as there haven't been any new drivers to add in several
    months. All of my admin consoles have both hotfixes applied, just for giggles, i spun up an admin console with neither hotfix applied, and it gave the same error. I have tried running from remote consoles, as well as locally on the primary site server.
    Does anyone have any suggestions? WMI isn't my strong suit, I tried entering wbemtest, but wasn't really sure what to look for, other than verifying that the class SMS_SCI_Component existed, though I cannot seem to figure out how to query it.
    Thanks in advance for any suggestions/tips,

    The SQL view that Jason referred to is called "vSMS_SC_Component".
    Also, to expand slightly on the WMI "unexpected error", it appears that the necessary WMI information to create the instance(s) of "SMS_SCI_Component" are present.
    Using WBEMTEST, you can connect to "root\sms\site_XXX" and click "Enum Classes..." and select "Recursive". The class for "SMS_SCI_Component" exists. The superclass that it's based on (SMS_SiteControlitem) can also
    be queried to produce the same "unexpected" error. You can see this by selecting "Enum Instances..." in WBEMTEST, selecting "recursive", and entering the superclass name "SMS_SiteControlItem". The results begin displaying
    and then when the query reaches the "SMS_SCI_Component" (presumably, I can't actually see what caused the error in WBEMTEST) it displays the same error number 0x8004101d "Unexpected error".
    Sample output from the SQL query "select * from vSMS_SC_Component":

  • I have allowed remote content from one specific newsletter but images are still not displayed, is there anything further I can do?

    I receive a regular newsletter from the manufacturer of a railsim. I have allowed remote content for this email address only in the security section of the options window in Thunderbird. However, the remote content (images) are still not appearing - only those little box thingies which, if I click on them, take me to various pages on the manufacturer's website. I want this facility but it's a real drag independently clicking each box to see if it is something I wish to add to my railsim.
    So, having set Thunderbird to accept remote content from only this email address (all others are blocked), why is it not displaying the content?

    What exactly have you got in this location.
    Tools > Options > Privacy
    click on 'Exceptions'.
    what is entered in 'Site' and 'status'...word for word.
    It may be easier to post an image.
    ''re: various pages on the manufacturer's website.''
    Is the 'manufacturer's website - various websites or the same website that also owns the email address.
    So email address may say 'info @ foobar .com'
    and the website is www.foobar.com and different pages of that same website?
    eg: noreply @ marshalls-seeds.co.uk Enter: marshalls-seeds.co.uk
    but not sub domain - in example the 'cs' is sub domain:
    eg: noreply @ cs.hm.com Enter: hm.com
    else you would need to enter each sub-domain as a separate site.

  • Get OSX to retrieve users from a specific AD OU.

    Hi All,
    I work in a school with OSX and AD, two campuses (Secondary and Junior). On the Secondary campus we run the 'Golden Triangle' pretty well, but we just present a login box for users. On our Junior campus we run OSX as it's own directory master, with the WGM preference showing a list of names of network users.
    Now while I can quite easily point our Junior school OSX server to our AD and get all the users showing in a list, we don't need to have all the Secondary school users showing in the Junior school list.
    Is there a way to only show network users from a specific AD OU in the list of network users when we bind our OD to AD?
    Thanks,
    Dustin

    There are a number of ways to accomplish this, but AFAIK none of them is straightforward like writing a script to accomplish the task.
    This could be accomplished quite readily with the Essbase API.
    Unfortunately, when Maxl outputs tabular data such as what comes out after DISPLAY SESSION ALL; - it comes out as all one big string with lots of spaces.
    So to parse that output you would need to use a language that can tokenize the text into a collection and parse that for the users.
    Then you need to do the same sort of thing after running DISPLAY USER IN GROUP ALL; (or instead of all, use a specific group name);
    Then run ALTER SYSTEM LOGOUT SESSION BY USER <parsed_username>;
    What would be ideal (hello Oracle... <wink> ) is a MAXL command ALTER SYSTEM LOGOUT SESSION BY GROUP <GroupName>;
    The way I would approach this would be to write a little utility that does exaclty what you seek:
    - Scan the current session periodically (say, once every 5 mins)
    - for each user that belongs to group(s) <group>(<group>...)
    - if user has an open query running longer than n minutes, kill the user request.
    This way you're not kicking people, your just taking back resources. Of course you can be more aggressive and code it to kick the user by forcefully ending (invalidating) his session too.
    I can give you a hand with this offline if you want.

  • Content Validation Issue on Distribution Points

    Hi all,
    I am currently running SCCM 2012 R2 CU2 with Single Primary Site Server and Several remote Distribution Points serving Windows Updates, Software and Images.
    This has been bothering me for a while now and I can not figure it out…. Two of my distribution points are not completing their content validation. They begin the process as scheduled
    but about 2-5 packages in, they get hung up on an old package that does not exist anymore and then start the process over, validating the same 2 packages over and over. I have ran a few scripts to check WMI for this package and it is definitely not there.
    It is not present in the Content Library either.
    Simple query for to check WMI for the package on the DP:
    gwmi -Namespace rootsccmdp -Query “select * from SMS_PackagesInContLib where PackageID = ‘XXX001AE′”

    Anyone have any idea why it is still trying to validate this old package?
    Thanks

    Thanks for the replies,
    Here is some extra information on what I have tried.
    I have run the Bart Serneels script which did seem to clean some things up on the other servers. Did NOT fix the issue on these ones however.
    I have also ran these two scripts that compare the content on the DP itself.
    This one Compares Content Librrary with WMI and deletes the package INI if needed.
    cls
    $WMIPkgList = Get-WmiObject -Namespace Root\SCCMDP -Class SMS_PackagesInContLib | Select -ExpandProperty PackageID | Sort-Object
    $ContentLib = (Get-ItemProperty HKLM:SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SMS\DP).ContentLibraryPath
    $PkgLibPath = ($ContentLib) + '\PkgLib'
    $PkgLibList = (Get-ChildItem $PkgLibPath | Select -ExpandProperty Name | Sort-Object)
    $PkgLibList = ($PKgLibList | ForEach-Object {$_.replace('.INI',"")})
    $PksinWMIButNotContentLib = Compare-Object -ReferenceObject $PKgLibList -DifferenceObject $WMIPkgList -PassThru | Where-Object { $_.SideIndicator -eq "=>" }
    $PksinContentLibButNotWMI = Compare-Object -ReferenceObject $PKgLibList -DifferenceObject $WMIPkgList -PassThru | Where-Object { $_.SideIndicator -eq "<=" }
    ##Write-Host Items in WMI but not the Content Library
    ##Write-Host ========================================
    ##$PksinWMIButNotContentLib
    Write-Host Items in Content Library but not WMI
    Write-Host ====================================
    $PksinContentLibButNotWMI
    Write-Host Delete .INI´s in PkgLib not in WMI
    Foreach ($PkgLIB in $PksinContentLibButNotWMI){
    Remove-Item -Path "$PkgLibPath\$PkgLIB.INI" -Confirm
    This one Compares WMI to the Content Library and delete the package from WMI.
    cls
    $WMIPkgList = Get-WmiObject -Namespace Root\SCCMDP -Class SMS_PackagesInContLib | Select -ExpandProperty PackageID | Sort-Object
    $ContentLib = (Get-ItemProperty HKLM:SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SMS\DP).ContentLibraryPath
    $PkgLibPath = ($ContentLib) + '\PkgLib'

    $PksinContentLibButNotWMI = Compare-Object -ReferenceObject $PKgLibList -DifferenceObject $WMIPkgList -PassThru | Where-Object { $_.SideIndicator -eq "<=" }

    $PksinWMIButNotContentLib
    #Items in WMI but not the Content Library
    #========================================
    $PksinWMIButNotContentLib
    Foreach ($Pkg in $PksinWMIButNotContentLib){
    Get-WmiObject -Namespace Root\SCCMDP -Class SMS_PackagesInContLib -Filter "PackageID = '$Pkg'" | Remove-WmiObject -Confirm
    Neither of them return any information about left over packages.
    If I must, I may uninstall the DP role on these servers and reinstall it, one of them in also my "Application Catalog Server". Will re-installing the DP on this server cause any major issues?
    Thanks

  • Retrieving content from Apple TV

    Pretty sure I know the answer as others have posted similar questions but here goes:
    I bought a used Apple TV. The guy I bought it from does not have copies of any of the content (both iTunes purchased and non purchased (ripped etc.)) currently on the Apple TV (it's his, long story). He asked me if I could somehow get the content off the Apple TV and burn it to some DVDs for him. I'm up for trying.
    It appears from what I've read here though that as soon as I pair it with my computer/itunes the content will be erased as Apple TV views that as a new library. Is this correct ?
    What I haven't been able to find out is can I plug the Apple TV in without pairing it and somehow access the content ? Does it show up as a network drive perhaps ?
    I gather that I could remove the drive and mount it but that's a little risky.
    Always willing to help my fellow man if I can.
    Thanks
    Marc

    Thanks. Does anyone know how Apple TV determines if it is a new library ? Assuming he can retrieve his iTunes library file and put in on another (empty) Mac or PC. would Apple TV still think it is a different library ? Or because the library is the same would the files then be synched back to the new computer?

  • Retrieve Content from iCloud

    once I upload content to the coud from my iphone, how do i retrieve it.  Once I connect my USB connection and back up, I cannot see anything in my icloud account.

    You can't back up from a Mac to iCloud, what makes you think you have.

  • Trying to retrieve content from a text field & use it in a conditional statement

    Hi Everyone,
    I have a form with a text field and a button. The  text field is called "orderNo", and the button is called "genOrder".
    Initially  the text field is empty, and clicking on the button fills the text  field with an appropriate order number.
    I need to check the text  field for data (content) before writing the order number to it, this  way if an order number is already present in the text field it will not  be over written.
    My intention is to use an if / else structure to  perform the testing, however I don't know how to retrieve the content  of the text field (if content is present!).
    If anybody can  suggest how I can go about retrieving the content of the text field and  then use it in an if / else statement it will be greatly appreciated.
    Kind  Regards,

  • How to retrieve content from DAO Class and process in Controller Class?

    Hello
    This is for the experts.
    What is the best approach to passing a large set of data from Class A to Class B? I have a DAO Class that connects to a database to retrieve data. I tried saving the data in a collection (map) and passing the collection to Class B. The problem here is that the data is may be too large for a collection without increasing the heap size, it could cause out of memory exception. Instead I'd like to pass the data (row by row) on to the "Controller" Class where which will process each row. I am not sure how to do this without using a collection or some sort. Some tips will be much appreciated.
    Note: MVC Rules dictates that Controller cannot call the DAO Class directly, it has to go through the Model which talks directly with the DAO Class.
    Thanks

    Edited by: 875864 on 30-Oct-2011 15:05if its a large set of data, and is fetched from DB and you are sure that it is too large and chances of getting out of memory exception then why you are passing it over request.
    If the data is fetched based on some filter criteria, then just pass the filter criteria from class A to class B, and fetch the data from DB based on the filter criteria in class B.
